Carhill fills up his parchment with notes. He was surprised at how simple the ingredients were. Hopefully brewing would be easy as well. He shook his head no when the professor asked for questions. He was ready to begin brewing.

Herlucy quickly wrote down all of the ingredients on a piece of parchment.

Tabby jotted down what the Professor had said. No wonder Dru hadn't mentioned it, it was obviously too simple for her to bother with!

After several moments of silence and some staring on the part of the students, Professor Branxton turned to the pristine blackboard. WIth a flick of his wand, white words began to scratch themselves onto the smooth black surface,

"The vials I wish you to use are upon my desk. I suggest everyone comes up and takes two now. I do not want anyone up and about while we are brewing this potion. Take particular care once you reach the final two steps as the potion will be most efficacious. You should also be sure that your salt is completely dissolved before continuing. It is imperative that the salt be completely dissolved for the potion to be brewed correctly. The directions may seem simple but, they must be followed precisely and with care. You may begin."


ooc: I will be stepping away from the computer for a while however, that does not mean that Professor Branxton is not here. Please be realistic in your RPing and remember that the teacher is around and hasn't gone deaf nor blind. Be patient with me if you are asking Professor Branxton a question or need assistance in any way (believe me, he wouldn't ignore a student passing out as some people in the past have RPed). I should be back later on to check on your progress. I like to leave the brewing portion of the lesson open for a while to allow those in other time zones a chance to participate. Thanks guys!

Erinelle wrote down everything being said, her hand moving over the parchment quickly, yet her handwriting still very clear and easy to read. She shook her head at the Professors question and couldn't wait to get started.

Carhill walked up and grabed everything he needed. He got back to his station and set up the water. While it was begining to boil he added the salt. Once that was done he began powdering billywig stings. He made sure to keep looking up at the board so he wouldn't mess up. He never was the greatest with potions and he didn't want to think about what might happen if he messed up.

Sini walked up to the teachers desk and gathered her two viles for the potion. She smiled at the teacher as she appoached and then returned to her seat to copy done her notes on the potion brewing. She hoped her potion would come out properly, as it was going to be her first attempt at brewing a potion.

mich got up form the chair and got herself and Athena 2 vials each, she returend to the table and worte down the instructions on how to bre the solution

Neva walked to the front of the classroom and collected her vials before returning to her seat. She reached for her cauldron under her seat and placed it onto her desk. She added water to it. She tapped it with her wand and the water began to boil. Neva picked a vial of salt from her potion ingredient pouch and removed the stopper. Slowly she sprinkled in the salt, stirring the water clockwise until the salt was properly dissolved.

Neva placed a pestle and mortar onto her desk beside the cauldron and added a handful of Billywig stings, careful not to touch them for longer than necassary as she hated bugs..except Spiders which most people founs strange. She ground the stings into a fine powder, admiring the delicate tumbling of the grains. She added the powder to the salt water and stirred counter clockwise 12 times. After stirring 12 times anticlockwise, she reversed her direction for two turns. She repeated this six times as directed.

Slowly, Neva added a drop of Firefly essence. She then stirred the concoction six times counter clockwise and two times clockwise. She did this for each addition. After this she settled the flame and let the potion simmer.

Whilst waiting for her potion to simmer, Neva picked a book entitled "Greek and English wizarding relations". She sat humming a muggle tune whilst reading.

Twenty minutes later, Neva dunked a ladle into the potion and started adding it to her vials. She placed these vials onto her table then began to clear away her things.

Herlucy walked up to the professors desk and got herself two vials. She returned to her desk and thought about what she needed to do next.

Erinelle gathered up everything that was needed, and, very carefully, set up her cauldron. She tied back her mane of hair and made sure it was all out of her face. Knowing Erinelle, she would be adding her hair to the potion too.

She started the fire carefully, and poured in the water waiting for it to boil. As she waited, she gathered up other ingredients and objects that would be needed in the potion as as soon as the bubbles began she put the salt in.

Stirring, she looked at the next instruction and checked for the salt to be disolved, she liked Potions, it was very easy to follow. She added the powedered billywig stings and realised, that these instructions weren't as easy. Yet she continued the complicated stirring process carefully.

She then added the essence of firefly and continued with her stirring once more. Then she added a little more and repeated it once more, smiling at her potion as she did so.

She let the flame down and then waited as the potion simmered. She picked up the two vials and labelled them for something to do. Then very carefully ladelled the potion in to the vials and was smiled all the while. This was very much enjoyable.

She cleared up the potion and made sure the fire was out, then sat down, wondering what to do next.

Athena quickly wrote down the directions from the board, and then double and triple checked them to make sure she had written them accurately. Underneath the directions she added her own line:
She was about to go and get her two vials when she looked up and realized that Mich had gotten them for her, “Thanks!” She whispered to her friend

Athena went to the cupboard to get the ingredients that she would need and got an extra set for Mich while she was writing down the instruction, and then went back to her desk.

Re-reading the directions one more time, she began.

She set the fire under her cauldron after making sure that her cauldron was clean. She added 200mL of water and as it got hot added 6 grams of salt, and stirred continually clockwise until she was sure that the salt was completely dissolved.

She added the two powdered billywig stings to the now boiling salt water and began stirring counter clockwise 12 times, then clockwise 2. She did this 6 times.

Next she added the essence of firefly making sure to add one drop at a time and stirring 6 times counter clockwise and 2 clockwise in between each drop,

Satisfied that she had followed the directions to a T, she turned down the fire and began letting the potion simmer for 20 minutes. Glancing at the clock, she marked the time and waited.

After 20 minutes of simmering she turned off the flame completely to allow it to cool before bottling it.

When her solution was finally cool, she very careful not to overly aggravate the potion, she ladled it into the two vials that she had gotten from the front desk, careful to fill it as high as she could without spilling any.

Hoping that her solution was precise she took it up to the professor to turn in. She returned to her desk and cleaned up her mess.

Noticing the girl return her vials to the professor, Neva picked up her vials and walked over to the front to his desk. She deposited her vials on his desk and walked back over to her seat.

mich carefully measured all the ingredients she would need for the soultion.

She put the water on to boil and added the salt and stirred it clockwise till is dissolved.

She added the powdered billywig stings into the water and stirred counter clockwise 12 times, then clockwise twice, and repeated this 6 times.

She carefully added the essence of firefly one drop at a time and stirred correctly between each drop.

She ruduced the flame and watched the solution simmer for 2o minutes, she turned off the flame and let the solution cool.
She labeled her vials and carefully ladled the potion into them.

She cleaned up the table and sat patiently waiting for the next instructions.

Nervously,Herlucy placed her cauldren on her desk.She then collected her ingredients and then set the water to boil.Herlucy then added the salt and stirred clockwise until it had gone.

Next, Herlucy added the dried Billywig stings and continued to follow the instructions.Making sure she had followed the instructions correctly,Herlucy moved on to the essence of firefly. She slowly added three drops at a time and continued to stir.

Herlucy then reduced the flame, waited twenty minutes for it to simmer and ladelled it into two vials.She then let the potion cool, cleared all her things away and sat down.

Tristen walked up to the teacher's desk to get a flask while reading the instructions. He picked up two vials and returned to his seat. He lit a fire under his cauldron and then measured out 200ml of water being careful to avoid a parallex error by keeping the measuring cup at eye level. Pouring the water into the cauldron he set about measuring 6g of salt. When the water had come to a boil he added the salt and took a mixing spoon and began mixing in a clockwise direction checking every now and again to see the state of the salt.

When all of the salt had dissolved into his boiling water he added two dried, powdered billywig stings one after the other. Then picking up his mixing spoon again he stirred the mixture twelve times in an anti-clockwise direction and then twice in a clockwise direction. He repeated these actions six times.

Then using a dropper he took a drop of essence of firefly and added it to the boiling potion. He put the dropper down and mixed six times anti-clockwise and twice clockwise before adding another drop. he mixed again in the same way and added another drop. He mixed one last time and then exchanged his spoon for his wand to lower the flame.

After counting twenty minutes of simmering he put out the fire to allow he potion to cool. Once the potion was cool he used a ladle to pour it into his vials being careful to fill them to the top. Placing his vials out of harms way he cleared away any excess ingredients and wiped the desk clean.Then he took one of his vials to the teacher's desk and set it down brfore returning to his seat.

She gathered the tentative, fragile ingredients and walked back to her table, her mind focused firmly upon the task at hand.

Her eyes moved swiftly across the board as she prepared her cauldron and conjured the fire. She poured the water slowly into the cauldron and watched as it began to bubble. She waited until it was at a constant boil and added the salt with precision.

She placed her stirring wand into the contents and began to stir as it had been directed. Cameron gently lifted the billywig strings once the salt had been dissolved and dropped them into the liquid, stirring the correct amount of times.

Cameron was forced to tie back her hair halfway through, as it had become a nuisance and was hindering her vision. This cost her time, which was running short.

She placed the last ingredient within the solution and brought it back to a simmer for twenty minutes.

In the time, she kept her eyes fixed firmly upon the solution. The fumes however, floated into her eyes and caused them to burn. She blinked many times, and soon the twenty minuets had passed.

Cameron gladly poured the solution into two vials and walked them up to the desk, placed them down. Relieved, she walked back to her desk, whispered “Evanesco”, pointing at her cauldron, and sat down.

Eliza got up and got her vial,she then went to the collect her ingredients.She sat down and started to brew the potion.

First she Set the water to a boil and added salt, stirring clockwise until all the salt had dissolved,a handful fell to the floor but she didn't notice.

she then added the Powdered billywig stings to the boiling salt water, stiring counter-clockwise 12 times this is tiring!she thought ,switching hands.,then she stired it clockwise twice and repeated it six times.by that it felt like her hand was about to fall off!!

She then Carefully added the essence of firefly, one drop at a time,Eliza read what to do next and couldn't beleive her eyes.she looked at her hands No again!
she started stirring 6 times counter-clockwise then clockwise twice in between each addition of the essence of firefly.

She reduced the flame and let it simmer for 20 minutes before allowing the potion to cool ,while doing so she rested her hand I never knew potion-making was so hard!She thought ,shaking her hand from side to side to get her wrist non-numb.
She then Carefully used a ladle to pour the potion into the vial ,making sure it was full to the brim before closing the lid. She filled it just too much and a spoonful of it went spilling onto the floor.

She took out her wand and cleaned it up before bring up her vial to the Professor.

Once she gave it up to him ,she cleared her desk and sat down ,writing down the instructions just incase she might be asked it later on.

Ali looked at the writing that had just appeared on the board. She wrote down the ingredients she needed:

Then she went up to the Professor's desk, took two vials, went back to her desk and prepared to brew her potion.

She took all the ingredients she needed for the potion.
She put the water to boil, added the salt and stirred. Then she continued looking at her instructions and finished the rest of the potion. When she had finished she ladled her potion into the vials, got a lable, wrote her name on it so the Professor would know which one was hers. Then she took the vials and carried them to the Professor's desk.

AJ carefully wrote down the ingredients, always checking up on the board to make sure she got them right, and continued.

AJ went up, got a measuring bowl, measured out 200mL of water, and grabbed 6g of salt, 2 dried billywig stings, an eyedropper full of firefly essence, and two vials. she set it all down at her table, and added the water into her cauldron, and began to turn the heat on. After waiting for several minutes it slowly began to boil. minutes later, it was at a full boil and she added the 6g of salt. grabbing her stir stick she stirred clockwise continuously until there was only a little salt left. her arms were getting tired and she kept stirring, finally all the salt was gone. she grabbed the billywig stings and crushed them up to make sure they were nice and powdered before adding them, and stirred, counting 1...2...3 until she got to 12, then turned it around and stirred twice counterclockwise, forward, backward, forward, 6 times she repeated it. she took the eyedropper, dropped in one drop, stirred 6 times forward, then 6 backwards, added another drop, repeated it, and added the 3rd and stirred it forwards and backwards 6 times each. she removed the stir stick and let the flame get smaller and started timing it.

she looked around and watched the flame, watching everyone else until her watch said it had been 20 minutes, then turned off the heat. every now and then she'd get the backside of her hand as close to the potion as possible before deciding it was cool enough to deal with, at which time she took a ladle and filled the vials to the brim, then stoppered them. the overflow of the potion spilled out onto the outside of the vial and onto her hands, dripping onto her desk. she cleaned it all up and put labels with her name on them onto the vials, and headed up to the professor's desk with them. she set them on his desk and headed back to her own to wait for everyone else to get done and more instructions.

Phoebe read the potion which the proffesor had just put on the board. Phoebe agreeed it did seem simple but she would be very carefull to follow it exactly, she wasn't in the mood for another disaster. Walking up to Proffesor Braxtons desk she got a meausring bowl and ,easured out the appropriate amount of water. On her scales Phoebe weighed 6 gramms of salt, she then collected the two billywig stings and measured 3 drops of the essence of fire fly in a separate vial.

Phoebe poured the water into her cauldron and turned on the flame so it could boil. The water took very little time to boil, the time it did take Phoebe read the instructions once more. Once the water had boiled she added the salt carefull not to spill any. Phoebe left it to dissolve while she prepared the next step.

When the salt had succesfully dissolved Phoebe began to powder the billwig stings. Crusshing them very finely till they were powder she then added them to the salt water. Phoebe picked up a spoon and began stirring anti-clockwise 12 times counting carefully. Then she stirred clockwise twice, Phoebe repeated this four times till her arms began to ache, she continued stirring till it had been repearted six times and her potion was beggining to look like the ones around her.

Phoebe added one drop of firefly essence and then began stirring it six times counter-clockwise then clockwise twice. She then added another drop and repeated the stirring, she then added the final drop and repeated the stirring one last time. Phoebe reduced the flame like the instructions said and waited 20 minutes while she cleaned up.

After 20 minutes Phoebe turned the flame off and found a larger sized vial, the potion had cooled rather quickly so Phoebe hadn't had to wait for it to cool. She carefully ladled her potion into the vessel pouring it slowly so she wouldn't spill any. Then she added a lable saying her name and class with the date in the corner. Phoebe put the cork in and took it up to the proffesors desk. Phoebe then walked back to where she was working and waited for everyone else.

Ally laid aside her neatly written notes aside and set up her cauldron. She tied her waistlength brown hair into a ponytail and looked over the instructions.
"Water, salt, powder billywigs..." she read softly. "Alright."

She lit her burner making sure nothing was in the way that could catch fire. She poured the water into the cauldron and sat back waiting for it to boil. Meanwhile, she measured a precise six grams of salt that was required and checked her watch. The water should boil soon...

A few minutes later the water in the cauldron was steadily bubbling which showed sign that it was boiling. Taking her carefully measured salt, Ally poured it in and took her spoon. She stirred it steadily in the clockwise direction until no salt was visible in the water.

"So far, so good," she muttered.

She took the billywig stings and after looking at her instuctions again, she dropped them into the cauldron. The instuctions said to stir counter-clockwise 12 times and clockwise twice. This was to be repeated 6 times. Through the dim light, you could see beads of sweat on Ally's pale face. She finished stirring and recalled the instructions again.

She took the firefly essence and carefully added three drops while stirring 6 times counterclockwise and twice clockwise in between each drop.

She now had twenty minutes. She reduced the flame and let the potion simmer. She let down her hair now and wiped her moist forehead with a handkerchief. She put her Potions notes into a folder in her bag.

Twenty minuutes flew by and the potion looked ready. Ally took her ladle carefully and measured a perfect amount into the proper vials. She put out the fire, cleared the rest of the potion from her cauldron with the "Evanesco" spell, and carried the vials full of potion to Professor Branxton.

Dis filed away the unwritten portion of the instructions, to fill the vial to the brim in order to stop premature ignition of the potion. SHe wrote the rest of the instructions down and then walked up to the professor's desk and grabbed two vials.

As she was walking back to her desk, she drew her wand from her robes and said "Aguamenti." Water flowed from the wand tip and into a measuring cup, measuring out exactly 200 milliliters of water. She placed the vials on the table top and murmered "Wingardium Leviosa" and the measuring glass of water lifted and pour itself into her cauldron. "Incendio." SHe pointed her wand underneath her cauldron and lit a small fire, bringing the water to a boil. She grabbed the six grams of salt and added that to the water, stiring it counterclockwise in accordance with the instructions.

Once the salt dissolved, she grabbed her mortal and pestal and ground the Billywig stings and added the powder to the salinized water, stiring counter clockwise twelve times and and clockwise twice. She focused intently on her count, making sure to do each set of repetitions six times so as not to ruin the potion.

SHe reached for her essence of firefly and dropped in the first drop, stirring sixe times counter clockwise. Before she added in the next drop, she stirred the potion twice clockwise. SHe repeated those repetitions twice.

She lowered the flame under her cauldron and reduced the water from a boil to a simmer and let it sit for twenty minutes. When that time had elapsed, she poured the potion into the two vials, making sure to fill them to the brim, corked them and placed them into holders sitting on her table. She noticed that a couple drops had overflowed from the vials and were glowing on her desk. Apparantly even a drop of the potion impacting something could set it off. She stared at the light momentarily, getting lost in it's glow. SHe shook her head and grabbed her wand and muttered "Evanesco." Her mess cleared and all that remained on her table was her vials of potion a piece of parchment and a quill. Her bad rested against the side of her chair.

Dis sat patiently, waiting for the rest of the students to finish and for the professor to continue class.

Caitlin walked to the front of the classroom and grasped the vials tightly in her hands. She didn't want to drop them again, like she'd done before on several occasions.

She poured 200 mL of water into her cauldron and waited until it began to brew. She added the suggested amount of salt (6 g), stirring clockwise until it was completely gone - and then just a little more, just in case.

Next, she turned her two billywig stings into powder and added it to boiling salt water. After checking back to the instructions, she stirred counter-clockwise 12 times, counting in her head, "1 ... 2 ..." Then, she stirred it clockwise twice and repeated the same step six times.

She then very carefully added three drops of the essence of firefly, taking them one drop at a time, and stirred 6 times coutner-clockwise, and then clockwise twice inbetween each addition.

Finally, Caitlin reduced the flame to low and watched everyone else create their potions for the next twenty minutes, waiting for hers' to finish cooling. When the waiting period had ended, she carefully ladled the potion into the vials she had previously recieved.

Katie went to go get her two vials.she placed them on the bench were she was working at.Katie followed the intrustions carfully and doubled check everything.She first added the water adn bolied it after that she added salt. Katie looked over her shoulder to see how everyone else was doing...
