Serena continued to ponder the question about the owls. She nodded in agreement with her housemate, but spoke with her hand raised. "Actually, I do believe peacock feathers can be used in quills. But, as mentioned, Augurey feathers can't be used. The reasons is that the feathers repel ink."

ella walked into the magical creature hospital for the first time. she was nervous and she gazed at the creatures in awe. being muggleborn, she not seen a magical creature in reality althoughshe had studied many books. she noticed a girl whom was attending to what was, in her opinion, an amazing creature. ella walked up to the professor and said" could you please tell me what that is?" ella indicated to caramel and her blonde hair swept over over face.

Erinelle raised her hand tentatively, "Um...Weasels and Wolves have been known to kill and eat an owl, along with flocks of crows." She said nervously, hoping she was right.

"Correct! 3 points.

The feathers can't be used, because as Serena said, they repel ink.


Now let's walk outside shall we? I'll introduce you to my favourite magical creatures." She watched as some of the students lingered to put away crups and finish cleaning owl cages, then disappeared into the storeroom to get some supplies that she would need.

Mason walked outside and waited. He was very exited to see what sort of creatures the professor was going to show them.

Erinelle beamed at Chiyo for winning Gryffindor three points before grinning excitedly at what the Professor had in store for them. She brushed her hair back into a messy bun and rolled her shoulders back. She needed to limber up, ready to help as much as possible.

She smiled holding some supplys and walked outside. She didnt know much about the magical creatures yet, so she kept quiet during the questions. But she WAS excited to see some of the animals the professor loved most.

Walking to a group of 3 outdoor pens, she stopped and waited for students to catch up, putting down the various items she held. Entering the gate she was standing infornt of, she made a clicking noise with her tongue.

"Ok, climb up on the fence and take a seat on the top railing." She turned to see a giant winged horse approaching slowly. "Now some of you will know this big guy, others may have never seen him before. This hansome lad is known as Samson, and he is a 9yr old Abraxan stallion. He stands just over 19 hands high, but most of the time he's a gentle giant. Who can tell me a little bit about Abraxans?" She began stroking his neck and held out an apple for him to take.

Alanna followed Professor Dainsie to the outdoor pens, and climbed up onto the fence as she instructed. Staring in awe at the giant winged horse, Alanna couldn't contain a smile at it's beauty. She remembered him from her first year.

The Professor asked the students a question, and Alanna piped in. 'Abraxans...they're very powerful,' She began, staring at the horse. 'And, well... they're basically giant Palominos. Owners are also required to perform Disillusionment Charms upon them asl well, I've heard.'

Marie raised her hand & said:"A breed of winged horse; the Abraxan is a gigantic, extremely powerful Palomino. They drink only single malt whisky and require forceful handling." Marie was hoping that she was right.

Pauline followed the proffesor and was about to answer when the other students said it first. She sat on the fench watching the big winged horse. He was so handsome not as pretty as her horse but was close. She smiled at him and tried to see if her power worked. 'HEy boy how are you?" She thought to him

After she finished cleaning the crups cages, Kerry followed the group outside. Because of her small stature, she found large boulder to help herself climb up on the fence, and sat there smiling at the beautiful creature in front of her.

Knowing Marie, and Alana were correct, she sat quietly for a moment, admiring the winged horses.

I wonder if they drink the malt whiskey to maintain their large size? Kerry thought to herself, as she laughed aloud.

Professor, may I ask a question? Kerry shyly spoke up. I'm a big fan of Greek Mythology, (or at least that's what my Dad - a muggle called it, my mom - a witch, called it ancient magic) anyway, I know there was a winged horse named Abraxas that pulled Helios' chariot (the ancient Sun god). Is this where the Abraxan's name derives from?

And one other question if you don't mind Professor, I have also heard the Beauxbaton's School uses these creatures to pull their own carriages when they travel. Is this true? It must be amazing to watch these creatures fly. They're size is astonishing!

Sana watched every one including her Friend Marie. She know their answers were correct. She glanced again the Winged Abraxan. She replied, " Professor The Abraxans are breeds by the Headmistress of Beauxbatons, Madame Maxime. I have seen their carriage was pulled by Abraxans"

Great, 3 points! Breeding has produced much more tame individuals nowadays though. The mare that we have is actually very quiet. Samson can be a handful at times though...

I'm actually not sure on the first one, mythology isn't my strong suit, but that might be something great for you to research! And yes indeed, it has become tradition since the reinstatement of the tri-wizard tournament years ago that they always travel in Abraxan pulled carriage. 3 points!

Unfortunately that is incorrect. Yes, the school has them, but the breed did not originate there.


Now, I can't allow you to get in the pen with Samson, but if we move to the next pen, we can get closer to the mares and foals." She motioned for them to get down from the fence and exited the gate after giving samson a bucket of grain to munch on for being a good boy. Stopping infront of the next gate to a much larger pen she paused, "Now follow me in here, but stick close to the fence. The first mare coming is a greay, does anyone know the breed?"

Alanna followed Professor Dainsie's instructions, and moved to the next gate. She stayed close to the fence, gazing at the mare. 'It's a Granian, isn't it?' She asked excitedly.

That's right! Now behind her are 2 mares and a foal chestnut in colour, what breed might they be?

Alanna furrowed her brow as she stared at the two mares and foal, trying to remember the name of their breed. 'Uh... are they Aethonan's?' She asked, hoping she had pronouced it correctly.

Rachael wached the horses, they were beautiful and full of power. "Professor? I was wondering, what can you use to suppliment the horses' diets? My mum rescued a few recently, but she's not very experianced with them and they're pretty undernourished." she asked.

Chiyo looked at the Abraxan horses interestedly. She didn't know the answer to the Professor's question just yet, so she stayed silent as she watched them. They were indeed absolutely fascinating.

Pauline stayed quiet and just tagged along. She followed everyone into the next pen and saw the mares and foals, the were gorgeous. She waited for proffesor to ask another question.

Erinelle couldn't answer that question. She slumped slightly disappointed, but still, just listening she was learning. She sat on the railings and smiled. She made sure her messy black bun was safe in it's hair band and held on to the fence once more. Waiting for a question she could answer.

Serena followed after the rest of the group towards the pen where Sampson was kept, admiring the creature from afar. When she was actually able to receive a close-up view, she smiled in delight. The animal was absolutely beautiful.

A few more questions were asked, though unfortunately, Serena wasn't fast enough to answer, though she did look appraisingly at those who were able to answer the questions. When a particular Gryffindor mentioned Greek mythology, Serena perked up. What an interesting fact she thought. She had only managed to barely make a dent in her studies of Greek mythology, but she found it all quite fascinating.

Carefully sliding from the fence, Serena moved to the next pen, once more admiring the creatures.

Tia watched as the other students answered the Professor’s question, frowning. She was sure she had read an answer to that somewhere, but where.

Then it clicked – She had read something similar it in a reference book last year, while preparing for her End-of-Term Examinations.

“Thestrals, Professor,” she stated, her hand raised by way of habit as she answered. “They are known to attack owls at times,” she went on, a little hesitantly.

She then followed Professor Dainsie, along with the other students, to where an Abraxan stallion, Samson, stood. She stayed at a distance from the stallion, though, admiring it.

She attempted to answer once or twice as the Professor asked more random questions from the assembled students, but she wasn’t fast enough. She shrugged, glancing back at Samson.

After a while, she decided to move closer for a better view, and a radiant smile lit up her face as she saw the creature more closely; it was, for loss of a better word, a marvellous animal.

lizzy watched as several people, including the professor approached the outdoor pens. lizzy ceased grooming caramel, gathered her things and reached the professor in time to hear her ask a question. unfortunately she was beaten to it by another student whom rightly stated that they were Aethonans.
