Vince listened to the teacher, and followed what he said. "Lumos!" Vince said with his wand flicking. At the first time, it glowed! But suddenly it turned out.
Again he said with his wand flicking, "LUMOS!"
At the second time, the tip of his wand glowed again, but not as bright as the first time he did it which must've been wrong.
He picked his wand up and flicked with saying,"LUMOS!!"
As he said it the wand tried to slip of his hand, but he hold on tightly. Then, a bright glowing light came at the tip of his wand. "Yes!" Vince whispered. At his fourth and fifth time, he said,"LUMOS!!" and the tip of the wand got brighter. He had been so proud he had learned his first charm spell!

After much practice just in wand movement, Kerry was excited to finally try the spell. She took a breath and tried to concentrate around some of the distractions. Kerry picked up her wand, and using the movement she had been practicing all along, she added the incantation, "lumos!" This time Kerry was sure there was a light at the end of her wand, however she was disappointed to see it was not very strong. I think the frustration got the best of her, as the light quickly disappeared.

"Thank goodness we're practicing this a few times before we move on," Kerry thought, "looks like I'm gonna need it."

Kerry gave it a few more tries. Each time there was a little bit of improvement, it seemed the light was not flickering as much. And by the final time, the light was holding steady. Kerry looked around, and thought to herself once more, "it just doesn't seem to be as bright as some of the others, maybe it's my wand, but I really think I need to practice this one more." However, the instructions were clear, we were each to practice it 5 times, and then we were to move on to another spell.

Kerry took this moment to jot down a few important notes about the "lumos" spell in her notes while she waited.

MJ looked around her spell was still strong. Well I had to be good at one subject at least. she thought while smiling at herself. She wondered how to turn it off then she remembered. She looked at her wand and stared to do the spell again then giggled. "It's so warm." she said softly. She looked around and saw people also doing the spell.

She looked at the professor and waited for the next instructions

"Lumos...Nox...
Lumos...Nox...
Lumos...Nox...
Lumos...Nox...
Lumos...Nox..." Tasha did as the professor said and placed her wand on the desk and waited for the next part of the lesson.

Sini continued to practice the wand movements before moving on to saying the spell. Finally, after she felt she was ready with a quick flick of the wand and the word "Lumos" coming out of her mouth, a small flicker of light shone from her wand tip, and just as quickly as it had appeared, flicked out.

She was relived that it had worked, but was not satisfied with the results, so she tried again. This time she concentrated, cleared her mind of the classroom noise, and tried again. With a quick flick and the command of "Lumos" her wand tip shone brighter then but still not as bright as some of the other students emitting light.

Still not satisfied, she tried several more times, finding that the light was getting larger and brighter with each attempt. After her fifth attempt, she felt satisfied and quickly jotted down notes on the charm.

Serena remained quiet, the only sign of recognition of the teacher's words being a slight incline of her head. She had thought the girl's behavior to be quite disrespectful, but was sure that she wouldn't do it again. Smiling genuinely now as she looked over towards Hepzibah, who possessed quite the exuberant nature, Serena began to practice the spell.

Though it was a basic spell, it was always good to practice the basics. They provided the foundation for more difficult spells later on. The process of concentrating and making the proper wand movements was essential to casting successful spells.

With a quick flick of her wand, Serena intoned. "Lumos" and watched as her wand tip lit up. Smiling, she countered the spell and practiced four more times. On the last time, she spoke the spell in her mind and smiled in satisfaction as a light flared up.

Extinguishing it once more, she jotted down a few notes from the beginning of the lesson and glanced about to see how the rest of her classmates were faring.

Markie swished her wand and said "Lumos," and then followed with "Nox," as it lit up and then the light was extinguished again. This spell would most definitely help out during those late nights in the common room!

Brandon took his wand and flicked it. "Lumos." The tip of his wand glowed brightly. He wasn't sure why the professor was teaching such simple spells. "Nox," he said putting it back out then flicking it again. "Lumos." It shone brightly again.

Linda ficked her wand and muttered "Lumos," she found the wand alight with a golden-white glow and she admired it for a few minutes taking in it's beauty then silently said "Nox." She then decided to try the spell again. "Lumus. Nox"

Tasha lazily looked around the room at the students practicing their charm. She thought to herself, "boy this is really a colorful bunch", as she leaned back in her seat she looked up at the ceiling and began daydreaming about the boy she spent most of her summer break with. "I wonder if he has a clue about wizards and witches?" she thought. "I sure wish he could come to school here so we could have some fun. I wonder what he's doing now."

Coming out of her daze, she glanced around the class to see if she had missed anything. "Aparently not."

MJ looked over at Linda. "This could be so useful for decorating the common room." She said smiling. She raised her hand.

"Professor I was wondering could we transfer this spell to an object?" She asked. "Like an ornament or would that be another spell?"

Brandon looked over at the girl. He knew the answer to her question but didn't want to get in trouble for speaking. He knew that her answer was another spell. The lumos spell is more or less the wizard variation of a flashlight.

Taylor tried out her spell, and smiled to herself, when she automatically suceeded. She knew Charms would most likely be her best subject. She lowered her wand and waited for more instructions.

Trelane continued practicing. "Lumos... Nox... Lumos... Nox... Lumos... Nox... Lumos... Nox..."

Athena listened as Professor spoke, after his instruction she procedded to add the incantation to the wand movement. "Lumos" She said as she waved her wand. Nothing. Realizing that she had done the wrong movement, she cleared her throat and tried again. "Lumos." She said clearly and confidently with a quick flick of her wrist. Suddenly, the tip of her wand lit up brightly. Smiling with pleasure, she tried it again, and agin. confident that she could do it, she sat back and looked around the room.

"Lumos"... Tasha began writing in the air with her lit wand...

"Nox"... She was quite bored, and she was making it rather obvious.
"Lumos"...

L...U...M...O...S...
N...O...X...
"Nox" she said quietly as the tracers dissappeared from the air.

Taylor tried again and again, and finally decided to try it one last time, and watched the other students.

Brandon feeling rather dull about the spell did it one last time before setting down his wand. Charms was his strongest subject. A spell like lumos was just boring for him. He can use the accio charm just by looking and pointing at the object and could use other charms easily. He was hoping for a challenge this term but to his disappointment he wasn't getting it.

Tasha scribbled a note on a small piece of parchment and folded it. With a quick charm the paper flew to the 7th year boy and landed smoothly on his desk.
The note read...
"Your a 7th year, can you tell me a charm that will turn something inside out?"

Brandon read the note and thought about it for a long minute. Then he wrote on the paper. *Well I don't know about turning things inside out. That's a tough one. I have heard of a curse that causes a person to turn inside out but I don't know the incantation and even if I did I certainly wouldn't want to use it.* He charmed the paper to float back to her desk.

Tasha unfolded the note, and shrugged. "It was worth a try." She thought to herself. "I just don't think I'll ever find out what is in that stone dad sent me." She looked at the boy and mouthed the words "Thanks anyway."

Brandon nodded his acknoledgement to her then thought it about and grabbed more parchment and jotted something else down and sent it over to her. *It's worth a try but if it's something with magical secrets you could research it. There's ways to make something reveal itself if it's hidden by magic. You had the right idea if this is the case but not quite. It doesn't need turned inside out it just needs the right spell to unlock the charm on it. Try tapping your wand on the object and saying reveal yourself. If your magical skills are adept enough it should work and the secret will reveal itself. I get lucky sometimes that way.*

There is a slight whirling sound as a parchment envelope flies through the door, seemingly of it's own accord. Emblazoned on the front of the envelope is a wax seal with the words "To Hepzibar Hart" scratched into it. The note inside reads :

I realise I have no right to ever speak to you again but I would like to offer my sincere apologies over earlier's incident. I deserve no forgiveness or pity from you because of my shameful behaviour but I would at least like to explain my reasons. My mother passed away recently and it was her birthday yesterday. I have thus far proved myself incapable of conveying my emotions and I think because I have gone so long without crying, screaming or throwing a fit that the dam well and truly burst. I know I don't deserve your forgiveness but just wanted to make my situation clear. Have a pleasant evening.

Tolkien spoke again after he watched the last student put down her wand, "I would like you to leave everything except your wand and follow me to the practice area."

Jack continued down the aisle, leading his student to more spacious practice area. The spell we are amount to cover is normally on the NEWT exam. So some of you will most likely be unable to perform it. I know you are a range of years in school, so don't be disappointed if you are a first or second year. Form two lines, please, quickly now."

Leo stopped practicing the spell and looked up to the Professor.listening to the Professor Leo lined up he was the first person in line.Leo turned to see Bucky,he smiled and pointed behind him hoping she would come.
