Doyle thought about his response before answering, giving his glasses a few extra rubs before placing his glasses back on. "For the first time I find myself at odds with myself. I am not certain what it is that I want apart from a life as your husband. And though I do not wish you to base your decision on me, I am no certain I will still have a position within the Ministry should you decide to destroy the book or do something other than hand it over to us."

"Hmm," Rae made a pensive face, a line appearing between her eyebrows as she nestled her head against his neck. "I'm just thinking that if you DO want to return to the Ministry, it wouldn't be that bad. A little commuting for you, but we could connect the Floo in our quarters. One way." She tapped her fingers on the table. "I want to destroy it, but I'm listening."

"I'm not certain my prior ambitions are worth sacrificing time with you. I'm not certain I will even be able to obtain those ambitions so, it may not be worth remaining at the Ministry at all. Do what you think is best with the book and don't worry about its effect on me."

"Stop being so noble," Rae made a face on his shoulder before her eyes fluttered closed. "I don't want to think about it right now. I want to think about... ice cream."

Doyle smiled. "Don't think about it now, then," he said, squeezing her slightly. "Perhaps we can go down to the kitchens for some ice cream to take your mind off things for a while. It always helps to look at your options with a clear head."

"Chocolate," Rae rose and offered him a hand up. "No, strawberry. No..." She gave him a mock panicked look and put her hands on her cheeks. "I can't even pick a flavor. In protection of my mental health... I'll have to have a scoop of each." She took his hand.

Doyle actually laughed as he pulled her toward him and hugged her closely. "It will all work out," he assured her before letting her go and taking her hand. They were off to the kitchens for ice cream... chocolate and strawberry.

Loud knocking came from the door, as well as muffled speach, that continued for several seconds. Then, when they finally stopped, the sound of running footsteps faded away from the door.

Ali knocked on the door once and pushed a note under the door.

Lainey was, once again, the first to the Staff Meeting. She was feeling much better about the letters she'd just sent and the fate of the Book, so she took a seat up front this time. She had no intentions of losing her cool or yelling this time around. Lainey had taken things into her own hands and felt good about it. She had the house elves bring her up some candy while she waited on the others.

Closely behind Lainey, Virohsa entered the room. She scanned the room to notice that it was her and just Lainey.... Seriously considering whether she should tie her up before anyone gets here or whether she should wait to see if she would act against the Headmistress, Virohsa positioned herself in view of the Professor. She kept her icy stare on Lainey, who seemed deep in thought.

Mr. Thorn slipped into the Staff room quietly, nodded to the two Professors that were already present, and then took a seat at the long table. As he waited for the other Staff to arrive and for the meeting to commence, he gazed into the crackling fire and allowed his mind to wander.

For the second time this term, the Charms professor entered the staff room, her heels clicking across the stone floor. Three professors were there, two of whom she didn't trust, especially after what some of the students had told her about Lainey. She nodded curtly at them all, and then settled herself into a corner where she could watch Virohsa watch Lainey.

If the two women staring a hole in the back of her head thought they affected Lainey at all, they were so sadly mistaken. The last meeting was in the past and Lainey was far over it. She'd not forgotten, never would she forget their cowardice ideas, but she was over it. The house elves brought her a bunch of sour hard candy - her favorite - just as she'd ordered.

"Can I offer you two ladies a piece? The watermelon is my personal favorite." So naturally, Lainey tossed them both a cherry piece. She watched to see if they would eat.

Virohsa frowned as she looked at Lainey eat her watermelon candy and throw her a piece of candy. Virohsa pretended to be caught off guard and allowed the candy to hit the floor. After all, you never know what spells Lainey could have casted on the candy, which could have been activated through touch or once they were eaten.

Virohsa looked at the candy on the floor, and taking her wand out, she casted a spell to move it and throw it in the trash. "Perhaps after dinner", she answered coldly. Something was terribly off with Lainey... But at least, her wand was now out with a valid excuse...

"No thanks, I don't like artificial flavorings," said Andi, as the candy landed into her lap. She looked at the lurid red color in distaste. Andi had a weakness for some Chinese cakes, but Western candy on the whole, left her cold.

"Suit yourself," Lainey replied to them both. They both were missing out, though to her, they both probably missed out on lots of things - like fun, smiling, laughing, and all the other things normal people without nifflers in their rears did. Lainey sucked on her candy loudly, trying to savor every speck of it as loudly and for as long as she could.

Doyle supposed he could speak with Cassandra about his supplies after the staff meeting he had nearly forgotten about in all the chaos. He rounded the corner and came to the door of the staff room. After muttering the password so that no passing students could hear, the door swung open and he stepped inside. It seemed he was actually a bit early for the meeting as not many staff had yet arrived. He side stepped the women who seemed to be rather engrossed in their conversation and headed toward his usual chair.

Ariana walked into the meeting which hadn't begun yet and took a seat at the table. She ran a hand through her hair and looked at the staff already gathered. She gave them smiles and refrained from giggling as Lainey sucked on her candy.

Professor Virohsa stared, or more like cringed, at Lainey's loud eating. It was very rude to eat so loudly. Yet, she continued to stare at the Ravenclaw Head of House. She wondered when the Headmistress would show up.. perhaps that would stop Lainey from trying to infect the Professors or scare them off with her antics.

"This one is particularly sour," Lainey leaned over and told Thorn. "Try one." She handed him a lime one, gave him a pat and uprighted herself. She'd liked ever since he went into the forest with her last year.

But, then Doyle came in and Lainey's eyes wanted to roll. If he were any more anti-social he'd disappear. She didn't bother offer him some candy, he would undoubtedly be allergic or too good for her candy.

"Lovely nurse! Head's up!" Lainey tossed her a grape candy. Despite all these dreadful staff members - Lainey was in a very good mood.

Ariana turned and held her hands up fast to avoid being hit in the head. She managed to catch the candy. "Ooooh grape, my favorite. Thank you." She told her with a grin. She popped the candy in her mouth.

Doyle wouldn't exactly say that he felt slighted that Lainey hadn't offerred him a piece of her candy when it was clear that she had offerred everyone else in the room a piece, so far but, it was reminicent of his school days. He lightly drummed his fingers on the upholstered arm of the chair, looking into the fire while waiting for Cassandra to arrive and the meeting to start.

Rae entered the office at a brisk pace and came to stand at the head of the table. "I don't know if you all have heard, but I wanted to bring us together today to talk about the apparent school-wide attacks. At this time, I know my office, a common room, the grounds, and a hallway have seen signs of some outside influence. Has anyone else seen anything?" She grabbed a green apple candy from Lainey's bag and popped it into her mouth.

"I would have, except for the blackout which occurred jus tbefore the destruction of my potions stores," Doyle said, unable to keep the bitterness out of his voice. "I'm afraid my next class will be delayed until such a time as they can be replenished."
