*Madame Rowena approaches the Staff table as she sees Ariana leave with a student. She sits down and heaves a sigh. She has just gotten back after a emergency call from the Ministry. They were unable to decipher numerous scrolls they have recently obtained after raids on the dark wizard community. She pours a cup of tea for herself and sinks back into her chair to watch those around her and ponder her thoughts on the things she has recently read* |
A Banner draped over the staff table. It had not been there before... Quote:

"This could be serious." |
A large pulsing sack hovered high above the Great Hall like a big black balloon. It appeared to be writhing, as if several somethings were moving around in it. There was a ripping noise and a mass of black, flapping, shrieking BATS poured out of it and swooped downwards, all frantically trying to find a way out of the Great Hall and instead colliding into the pudding and getting tangled in student's hair. |
Samea shot through the wall and collided with a jello mold. She jiggled about for a while before glancing up at the bats. "Ooooh... that's a good one," she nodded with grudging respect before shaking herself. "I mean... AMATEURS. Children and idiots of Hogwarts... you are one and the same, are you not? I'm tired of Ravenclaws being so brainy. What are you without your house points? What are... any of you?" She plunged into the large hourglasses holding the gems, shattering each across the floor. |
Rae had heard about the mess in the Great Hall, and she arrived to cage the bats and stare woefully at the housepoints counter. "When in doubt," she waved her wand snappily. "Reparo," and the glass and gems flew back where they belonged. "Naughty, naughty poltergeists." Rae headed off to correct more mischief. |
Cassandra walked in the great hall to see who was in the point lead, and to her surprize, the hourglasses had been fixed. Upset as she was, she knew it would happen, but to her surprize the numbers were different. "That can't be right, last I remembered, Ravenclaw had 600 or so points, how did they get to over 1000!" Then she noticed Gryffindor ahead of Slytherin and explaimed "WE'RE LAST?!?! That's impossible!" Cassandra was nearly in tears. She ran out of the great hall. |
Three fifty foot poles appear behind the head table. The another set of poles appear at the opposite end of the hall. A Quidditch box materializes on the head table. Then the great doors blow open, and twelve of the school brooms fly into the room. They take up positions opposite of each other. They appear to be preparing to play a game of Quidditch. The box on the head table suddenly opens up. The golden snitch flies out of the box followed by the bludgers, bats, and the quaffle. The bats take up position next to the beaters brooms. The quaffle float to the middle of the room. A whistle appears and blows for the game to begin. The brooms start flying around the room mimicing a Quidditch game in full play. Two of the brooms fly off and start chasing the snitch. The beater brooms start hitting the bludger in all directions as the quaffle broom starts a run for the hoops behind the staff table. The Quaffle broom skirts the staff table trying to avoid a bludger that is heading in its direction. The game continues at a fevered pace. The students and staff beware... |
"Nonono!" Samea swept into the Great Hall with a swirl of stolen homework and unmatched socks, her face livid. "My castle, my students, my chaos! MINE!" She sent her swirl of wind and socks to force all teh brooms off course. They crashed into each other and the walls. |
Rae hadn't made it far before the clatter of doors and brooms drew her immediately back to the Great Hall. "I... Samea! What is the meaning of this? What are you up to?" She should have realized all this mayhem was somehow connected to their very own poltergeist. She was of a mind to send Samea to some faroff place. |
The beater bats spring up off the floor and head for the bludgers sailing around the room They hit the bludger directly in Samea's direction. The snitch then changes direction and heads towards Samea flying around him like an angry bee. A bludger heads in Rae's direction. |
Samea ignored the bludger as it passed through her body and swatted at the snitch as it were a mere annoyance. "Mine. My school. I was here first. I was truly. Peeves gave it to me, and I'm not leaving. Not." If poltergeists cried, Samea would be in tears. She sounded woebegone. |
Nik was trying to get out of the hall safely when he saw the Headmistress standing directly in harm's way. Being the silly Hufflepuff he was, he ran and tackled her to the ground, "PROFESSOR! WATCH OUT!" |
Rae grunted as a student plowed her over, and her shoulder and elbow hit the floor rather hard. Still, it was much better than being hit in the head by a rogue bludger. "Thank you, Nik. It would be very difficult indeed to deal with this without a head. I owe you much more than I can repay right now." She shook his hand and crawled under the staff table. "No one is sending you away, Samea. Let's stop this nonsense." |
Nik blushed slightly and grinned shyly at the headmistress. "You're most welcome, Professor...and I'm sorry if I was a bit rough." he said, pointing at her shoulder. Cowering under the staff table with the headmistress was not his idea of a good time, but he was not risking showing his head right now. He snorted, "Even if she tried to send you away, Samea, it's not as if you'd leave." |
"Would if I wasn't wanted any longer," Samea sulked and sank down to sit in the pudding. She swished her bum around in it. "I'm the best poltergeist this school has ever had. Ever. Ever ever ever. I didn't start this mess. He did." |
"You are a very good poltergeist," Rae admitted soothingly. "Properly pranster-esque and quite troublesome. I couldn't have asked for a more troublesome poltergeist. But who is the... he that started all of this, as you put it? Voldemortist?" |
Nik found the whole situation vaguely amusing, despite the fact that the headmistress almost got her head knocked off. But something the poltergeist said caught his attention, "He? Samea...do you know who's responsible for this?" He attempted to ask the question casually, not letting on how important it was, in the event that Samea would start riddling again. |
"That daft old party pooper couldn't charm a broom if it were sticking out of his own nose," she considered that option before continuing. "Iocus," she answered cryptically. |

There was a loud hissing noise as Samea dared to say his name aloud. "You never could keep a secret, Samea." There was a sneer in the sound of his voice, though he did not reveal himself as yet. "I always was, and always will be ten times the poltergiest you are! Peeves was a fool for giving you Hogwarts. I set out to prove that." There was another wind as the Quidditch equipment began flying at both the Headmistress and the annoying Hufflepuff prefect. "You never could handle friendly competition, Samea. You've gone soft and weak. Trying to impress children all these years." |
"Ah," Rae nodded, puzzles pieces clicking together in her head. It was all she had time to say before all the equipment changed directions. "Immobulus," Rae froze the brooms and balls, and with another flick of the wand they clattered lifeless to the floor. "Samea is annoying," she muttered to Nik. "But she's ours." |
"They're my children, and I can impress them if I want to," Samea sulked, watching as Rae and Nik saved themselves. "You need to find your own castle with your own children." She shook a finger at him. "Go away, Io." |
Nik's eyes widened as the voice spoke out loud. So it wasn't Voldemortist, after all! Iocus? What was this Iocus thing? A Quaffle rolled over beside his hand and he picked it up, "That's true...but, Professor...what is the other being that caused all this? I'm assuming this...Io-" he stopped as he remembered the thing's reaction to it's name being spoken out loud, "I'm assuming that you-know-what is responsible for the other weird things happening in Hogwarts?" |
Quote:
"Other weird things? My dear child, if Sammy-Wammy had been doing her job properly, none of this would seem weird to you." Turning the wind to the Headmistress, Iocus added a snear to his voice once more, "She's yours? Aww, how precious. Why not take her home and let a real poltergiest do what needs doing around Hogwarts?" In a loud, booming voice, he finished, "Samea, you are unworthy to remain here at Hogwarts. You were entrusted in pranking these students by Master Peeves, and you have been derelict in your duties. You should be ashamed of yourself. You even sunk as low as to perform mediocre tasks for the human who calls herself Headmistress." |
Rae pulled herself up and pointed her wand at the cold air. "I not only call myself Headmistress, I am Headmistress. I am charged with caring for these students, and Samea is allowed to remain in this school on my terms. Do you think you could abide to remain here on my terms?" She offered a hand to Nik to pull him from under the table. |
