She glared at Andrei's letter. "And not just students either," she said ominously.

"Ohh! I see," Matthias replied though he really didn't. "What is your name, by the way?" he asked.

Berty Borr 07-25-2006 07:52 PM

Lord Borr was very hungry indeed. Being very busy and important always brought about a very big appetitie. He waddled his up to the Staff table and had a seat in the very center seat. Why shoudn't he? Obviously the Headmistress couldn't be bothered showing up and since he was who he was, Lord Borr and all, he took it upon himself to take charge. His plump rear could just fit into the chair, and his cane clacked loudly on the floor.

Lord Borr had arrived, he thought. If the people in this Hall had any respect or sense for that matter, they'd all be on their feet applauding. He sighed, which sounded more like a grunt, and glared at the staff around him. What a shabby looking group indeed.

"Andi Mao-Macdougal Zizhen," she said, beginning to scrawl a reply to Andrei in mash potatoes. It was very rude so far. "And yours? I presume you're the new Arithmancy professor, yes?"

Mad Eye Touz 07-25-2006 07:58 PM

"No...," Lainey began, but cut her thoughts short. It wasn't funny at all and surely he knew that. What sort of nut job had Rae hired? She really needed to ask her about helping with the staff hiring next year. Before she could ponder it for too long, the fat lump known as Borr came in. "Merlin," she whispered, watching with wonder at how someone so disgusting could view themselves with such high self esteem. It was amazing really. Lainey scooted her chair over as far as she could when he took Rae's seat. No sense in arguing with him about it though. She'd let Rae attempt to move... that thing.

james walked up to the staff table and said "i am very happy to be here up i wont be here long" he said in a sermk

Lissydove 07-25-2006 08:07 PM

Matthias' eyes widened at the arrival of number 8. The man seemed to be sitting in the Headmistress' seat. Unsure of whether the man knew it, he had to ask aloud, "Number 8? Is the Headmistress not coming?"

How unfortunate, he thought, a number 8 sitting in the chair meant for a different number 8. He also had hoped that she would receive his gift.

"Matthias Pythagoras Wenlock," he replied, "and how did you guess? hahahahaha," he laughed. "I am the Arithmancy professor. And what do you teach?" He noticed the woman writing in mashed potatos for some reason. She seemed very odd.

Opteryx, who had been staring at the mass of students at the House Table earlier, looked at the Hufflepuff boy in curiousity. "And what makes you say that...?" He trailed off, clearly waiting for the boy to supply his name. The Professor looked amused.

"Pythagoras, hm?" Andi had some dim idea that Pythagoras was a Greek mathematician. In fact, she was almost certain that she had failed maths because she hadn't understood the basics. Andi scowled. "Well, it's rather obvious that you have a fetish for numbers. I'm the Charms professor, no, I'm not charming yes, I've been through these jokes before."

Dear Vannacutt, DROP DEAD

She poured gravy over it and glanced at Borr. "Oh dear, he's number eight, is he? The number of prosperity in Chinese lore, I believe."

Berty Borr 07-25-2006 08:11 PM

Lord Borr leaned over. "Do you see secretary written on my robes?" Lord Borr attempted to turn to show the extremely rude man his chest, but failed quite miserably. "I am not her keeper or babysitter and most certainly not her secretary. And what is this 8 nonsense? Codswallop! If you aren't going to talk in normal, everyday english, I suggest you keeping your mouth closed. It's very disrespectful, especially for a man as respecful as me." Lord Borr pointed a finger at the man's nose. "I'm Lord Borr, not number 8. You remember that."

Spork! 07-25-2006 08:14 PM

"Hello-proffesers."said Amanda shyly."Uh-I'm in Ravenclaw."

Professor Opteryx spared the eccentric man a glance and an eyebrow raise. "Pardon me if you will, s--Lord Borr? I believe the seat you are in is reserved."

He had no idea why the Headmistress still kept him on staff, but he supposed that she had her reasons. How on Earth the man known as Borr worked for the Ministry he had yet to fathom.

Mistress Vondella 07-25-2006 08:19 PM

Hazelle watched as an enormous man came in and sat down in the Headmistress' seat. She saw none object, though the weird fellow, Wenlock, did ask the question on her mind. Hazelle observed Lainey moving away from him and wondered if there was some kind of school-boy infatuation he had for the poor professor.

The the fat man became really rather rude and obnoxious. She appraised the man, deeming him not respected, but disgusting. She wasn't sure if this was one of the "other than students" the charms professor had made mention of, but supposed he should be on the list.

"I don't blame you" she murmurred to Lainey on moving away from Borr then she watched the interaction between yet another professor and a young hufflepuff.

Ariana headed to the staff table excited about the new term. She had missed Hogwarts terribly and was eager to start. Hopefully this term wouldn't involve crazed love struck kids. She smiled at the other professors. Her eyes widened as she thought she recognized one of them. "Hazelle?" she asked curiously.

Lissydove 07-25-2006 08:20 PM

"Yes! Pythagoras," Matthias smiled, "so you've heard of him?" he tried to take his eyes off the mashed potatos. "I wouldn't call it a fetish really, numbers," he added, "all things in life do come down to numbers. I would say that is rather important." He didn't know what to make of her charms comment, as she seemed nice enough to him, though maybe odd.

Matthias looked at the strange number 8 in astonishment. He'd never heard anyone to be unhappy about being an 8 before, as the charming professor next to him pointed out, it meant prosperity. He shrugged and ignored the rest of the man's comments, as they did not involve numbers and picked up his abacus again to calculate 'Lord Borr'. "Is that your given name, Lord Borr?" he had to ask to be accurate.

Spork! 07-25-2006 08:21 PM

"Uh-I'm looking forward to astronomy and- potions."said Amanda, looking around at the staff.

Berty Borr 07-25-2006 08:21 PM

"And?" Lord Borr drawled, sickenly slow and insinuating. "You think I should move? If the Headmistress was any sort of Headmistress, she'd be here with her husband and have bells on her happy little robes. Are you suggesting I move, Professor?" Lord Borr was daring him to say yes. "Do not forget, young one, who you are speaking to here. Lord Borr."

Lord Borr leaned back to answer that other professor. "Lord Berty Borr."

eliza curtised(sp?) and said "hello professor's and other member's of staff. i would just like to say that the way you keep this place lovely and welcoming is spectacular and from what i've seen it is very very clean .i'm a first year gryffindor just to say."

Andi wrote:

Die, Vannacutt, DIE.

Then she mixed it up again. "Numbers are the very basic of things, I suppose, like atoms," she said. "I'm trying terribly hard to understand you here, especially since I've failed your lesson quite a few times." She gave him a brief smile. "I'm afraid I'm only good at the more mystic side of it, numerology and the like."

May you be gutted like a KIPPER, Vannacutt.

She reached for the gravy again.

Hazelle found herself scowling even more at the fat man, but being new felt that she really couldn't say anything. She heard her name and turned to the not very familar voice.

She frowned in concentration, "Yes, that is my name. Do I know you?" she asked. She knew the woman had to have been too old to have been a classmate, and she seemed to have a French accent, but Hazelle hadn't been to France in eleven years and couldn't think of who would know her here.

She smiled at the girl looking forward to Astronomy, "Astronomy is a good subject, I'm sure we'll have lots of fun."

Lainey waved the student off. She loved the new ones. Always so sweet and innocent. "You have no idea," Lainey replied back to yet another new professor. Hopefully, this one wasn't half as odd as the first. "What post are you this term, by the way? I'm Professor Lainey. Anjelical Lainey." Lainey extended her hand to Hazelle.

Lord Borr leaned back to answer that other professor. "Lord Berty Borr."

Professor Opteryx only smiled at Lord Borr as if they were talking about the weather. No need to make a gigantic scene in front of the students--that could wait until the Headmistress herself arrived. "Well, it would be only polite to do so, but since it isn't my chair I suppose you could keep it warm until the Headmistress arrives," he couldn't help adding cheerily before looking at the smart-alec Hufflepuff firstie still standing at the Staff Table.

Professor Branxton stepped into the Great Hall for the first time as a married man. He couldn't help but smile as he recalled thinking he'd never meet a woman he would marry. He would be sitting... His eyes focused on the table and found Mr. Borr in Cassandra's spot. Well, perhaps he wouldn't be sitting with his wife.

Doyle clapped a hand on Borr's enormous shoulder and smiled. "Berty, how are you old man? I didn't see much of you at all last term. I'm surprised you're still here. What are they doing back in The Department without you?"
