Nik stared open-mouthed at Professor Light. Sure, his mother was a muggle, but she had died in childbirth and he'd been raised in the wizarding world. "Vacuum cleaner?" he said under his breath, wondering what the heck it could be. |
"Vacuum cleaner," Whende said, with a nod. "Cleans the carpet," she added. She didn't know his name, but being in a pretty happy mood, she just answered whatever question she heard. |

Professor Branxton nodded in greeting to the two ladies and allowed them to give their introductions before stepping in. "This lesson will build upon the foundations we lay during our previous lesson. Due to the number of questions raised concerning whether cleaning solutions were more of less effective than cleaning charms or muggle cleaning supplies, I decided to arrange a lesson where we can examine and compare them firsthand. This will be a practical lesson where you will become familiar with basic muggle cleaning supplies, a charm or charms used to clean, and magical cleaning solutions. We will use each of these in an attempt to clean up 'messes' and you will be required to take detailed notes." He stopped and turned to the other two professors. They had decided ahead of time to start with a few muggle items and he wanted to be sure they had nothing to add before Professor Light began. |
Whende's jaw dropped. "Practical lesson?" she said. "Does that mean we'll be cleaning?" If there was one thing in the world she really hated, it was chores, and cleaning fit right in with it. She crossed her fingers, hoping he'd say no. |

Practical?! Rose thought to herself. She was no big fan of cleaning, but she was anxious to learn some really useful everyday spells. She also was prepared to laugh at all the wizards struggling with the simplistic muggle utilities. |
Professor Light moved from the side of the room to the center. "Well, I get to start so..." Professor Light hurried over to her desk and grabbed the mop. She lugged it back over and looked at the students. Most of them seemed unfazed. And rightly so. "Alright, we all know this is a mop. Both wizards and muggles use mops. Boring right? Well you see, even though they both use the same item, it's not always used in the same way... also there are many variations of a simple mops, all geared toward making a Muggle's life easier. Remember, when a Muggle wants to clean something, they typically need to do the work themselves... they can't just charm the broom to clean if for them." Professor Light set the mop against one of the students desks. "I want you to pretend you are a muggle. How could you improve upon a mop to make it clean better and more effectively?" |
Bucky groaned. This entire class was just a way to confuse them into cleaning up after themselves. Just fantastic. Celestina was starting to wish she had skipped this entire lesson. A nap. Yes, a nap would have been a far better idea than sitting here and first row none the less. Glancing over her shoulder, she raised her auburn eyebrows at Nikolai. They were better off trying to blow each other's brains out. "Does this mean we'll be using a vacuum cleaner?" She asked thinking that it would be something dangerous to bring. She thought it going crazy and trying to suck Professor Branxton and Professor AMMZ. Scary. |

Nick finally understood now why there were 3 Professors! Potions, the cleaning solutions. Muggle Studies, Muggle cleaning items. Charms, cleaning Charms. Nick chuckled at this wonderful way to have three classes at once. "Impressive!" Nick thought too himself. |
Rose knew an answer to this question. She cautiously raised her hand. "Well if one were to remove that bottom and replace it with a giant sponge, that would clean and soak up excess water, instead of spreading it around." Rose had on more than one occasion worked with a mop and knew some muggle innovations to the age old item. |
"Alright, good answer, 5 points to your house! And exactly right, of course, although not the only way. As a matter of fact..." Professor Light moved to her stack of cleaning supplies and grabbed 4 different types of mops. "These..." she showed each mop, "Are all used for the same thing... cleaning a hard floor. However, each has it's own perks. Mop #1 is your original mop. Mop #2 has a sponge contraption at the bottom that can be squeezed and filled with soap, much like mop #1 but with a different design. Mop #3..." Professor Light squeezed a button on the top, and some cleaning liquid came out. She then rubbed the mop over it as it absorbed. And the last mop, #4, simply has these attachable cleaning pads that you throw away after one use." |
Whende sighed. Apparently, yes, they were going to clean. This was definately not going to be the funnest thing she'd ever done. Shaking it off, she went back to smiling and leaned back in her seat. She'd let everyone else take all the answers for now. So she just watched Professor Light as she demonstrated each mop's use and hoped they wouldn't have to use them. |
"Remember, they are all created for the same purpose... So, which one is the best? Come test it out. Any volunteers? Just step right up!" Professor Light moved to the corner of the room and set each of the 4 mops up. Then she pulled out her wand and muttered a spell that landed a bunch of brown dirt on the floor in the corner of the room. Professor Light stepped aside and called on those who raised their hands. Then she happily handed mop #1 to the first volunteer. OOC: just RP pretending that I called on you and you are the next one up. Then go ahead and test each mop ;) |
Nick listened to Professor Light. This class is very cool. Having 3 in 1. But, he had an odd feeling that he and his classmates would be cleaning. |
Nick tested a Mop #2. "Grr ... this reminds me of what home used to be like." Nick thought too himself. "But, at least you get to learn somethings new. And, it isn't like you are always going to have 3 Professors teaching you in one class." |
No way was she volunteering for anything today. She stretched her hands above her head, yawning softly. Two seconds too late she realized that her stretching could be taken for raising her hand. She pulled them down, but she'd already been called on. "But I don't want-- Okay," she said. She stood up and grabbed the mop. Then set to work on the dirt spot. She scrubbed at it for about a second, doing a horrible job, before giving it back. "Works great," she said with a smile and returned to her seat, not failing she skip as she went. |
Andi smirked a little. "No smoke without fire and all," she drawled, pulling out her wand, ostensibly from thin air. "To better test these new to some methods that Professor Light recommends, let's have a little dirt to clear." With a wave of her wand and a spark in her eyes, the floor was suddenly ankle deep in ashes and what one could only hope was dirt. Of course, sitting on the table, Andi's boots just swung clear. |

"Alright, we need some more people... don't make me have to call on people." |
Jacques hadn't done anything even remotely like cleaning for a very long time. He wasn't sure if he wanted to touch one of these.. mop.. thingies, but he sidled up to professor Light anyway. He took Mop number 3 and tried to get the cleaning liquid to come out of the bottom, but the button appeared to be stuck. |

"Everyone take one, and get cleaning the Muggle way! Have fun!" Professor Light sang happily. She was having a blast with this lesson. |
"Okay Professor," said Nick, as he put down #2 and grabbed #1. He finishes up with #1 and grabs #3. He finishes with #3 and works at #4. #4 is annoying becasue you have to change it at each use. "Okay Professor," Nick says, happy that he's finished. "I have my information." |
Bucky was standing already feeling slightly guilty for not standing up in the first place but moping? She didn't moping. In fact, most muggle artifacts scared her. "I'll give it a go," she said to Professor Light but before she could make another move Professor AMMZ had conjured ash from who knows where and now she was ankle deep in it. "Um," she began to protest. "I think this is all a bit too much ash for a mop to clean." However, deciding to give it a go, she waddled over to the mops taking one in each hand. "Vannacutt," she said calling over her shoulder. "Be a gentleman and help me clean," she added giving him a stern look. |
Rave sighed, She was used to useing mops back at her old appartment so this shouldn't be to hard. She got up and grabbed the fourth mop and started cleaning the floor. |
