Sean heard this and started jotting down some notes and different names he would call the animal. He thought to himself, "Well, let's see. It has long whiskers, is orange and black. Hey, orange and black, like Halloween. And it has a tail." Sean now started scribbling fast and then said, "The Blange Hail. Yeah, that's good."

Sean rose from his seat and walked to the head of the classroom and started talking, "I named this animal the Blange Hail. I like to use animal characteristics and blend them into words, so I took orange and black, the animals colors, and called the first word Blange. Then, I took some of its features. It has whiskers, a tail, and may I add is a very beautiful animal. So, I named the second part Hail because its colors remind me of halloween and it has a tail. So, I combined the words Halloween and Tail and came up with Hail."

Once he was done presenting, he showed a grin on his face. He had never really spoken in front of a class like that before, he grabbed a couple animal crackers and strided back to his seat.

Marie think about what she might called it. She thought what about Strippy. She walked in front of the class grap a crackers & started: " Hi! this is a Strippy. It's a very fast animal. He usually chase in groub. Unlike the previous animal it ate meat.", she walked toward her desk extremely nervous but a little proud to have been in front of the class

hermygirl 10-08-2006 10:02 AM

Hermy thought about the animal, her hand already sketching. She finished the sketch and walked to the front of the class.

"Well," she started, "this is what I like to call a blarange, due to its orange and black colouring. The bright colours help serve as a warning that it is dangerous - along with those sharp teeth of course!" She let out a small laugh. "The blarange is a serious hunter and predator, due to its teeth and the joint movement of its legs. These allow it to efficiently and neatly hunt and catch prey."

Hermy glanced down at her notes before moving on. "Being a type of cat, I suppose the closest wizarding creature is the Kneazle. Both are very intelligent and can detect uncertainty, although the Kneazle has spots and the blarange has stripes. Although the blarange is dangerous, it is definitely not as vicious as the Graphorn and hide is cetainly not as tough." Feeling that she had pretty much covered everything, Hermy took some of the animal crackers, and returned to her seat.

Tia watched Sara explain about her "Strisker," and smiled to herself. That name had an interesting touch to it ... Hmm, she doodled on the corner of her parchment, drawing a colourful figure of a tiger. Then, she stepped up to the front of the class, and began to speak.

"This is a Colostripe," she said, grinning to herself. The name had struck her as very suitable for the "creature," but not without valid reasons. "The name comes from two words – Colour and stripe – Because the animal is recognized by its orange, black, and white stripe patter.

"Since a Colorstripe is a stalk-and-ambush hunter, the stripes, which look colourful and bold, are pretty good camouflage in the long grass. Dark stripes on a pale background, and visa versa, break up the Colostripe’s outline as it lies in wait for prey to come near.

"It looks very adorable, but – well, let's just say it isn't always so," she stopped and smirked, before proceeding with her "description" of the Colostripe. "It could be compared with a Kneazle, I guess, because a kneazle, to som extent, appears similar to a Colostripe – It has large ears, spotted fur and a lion-like tail.

"Kneazles are considerably more intelligent than the average cat, and have a few knacks, in particular the ability to detect suspicious people, to whom they react badly. Despite their occasionally aggressive nature, if domesticated they make good pets. The same, to a certain extent, can also be said about the Colostripe.”

She finished, eagerly grabbed another handful of the animal crackers, and went back to her seat, waiting for the other students to step up and explain their own creatures.

Professor Light stood up when it seemed like all the students had finished presenting their animals.

"Alright, I was going to do three animals, but I figure since we are running out of time, I'll give you a little bit of information about these two very different animals."

Professor Light tapped her wand to the board and instantly, both the pictures reappeared side by side.

"The first animal, muggles named an "Elephant". The second is called a "Tiger". I had you name the animals on your own because I wanted to show you something... many wizards name animals in ways that have relation to their actual characteristics... whereas Muggle animals can be a bit tougher to remember since often the names don't seem to have an realtion to the actual characteristics."

Professor Light paused to give them a chance to finish taking notes, if they were taking any.

Sean heard what the Professor said and wrote quickly. He didn't want to miss anything seeing finals were around the corner, "Professor. When will the finals for this class be?" he asked.

Loki 10-10-2006 01:13 AM

Marie tooked her quill & wrote down as fast as she could. When she heard Sean askin' his question she thought that was a very good question & waited for the professor answer.

Phoebe had never noticed this. Now that the Proffesor had mentioned it, it became obvious. She wrote down a few notes then looked up to see what else was coming.

Alanna quickly recorded the information, pausing only to listen to a boy's question. Now that she thought about it, she realized she was wondering when the finals would be as well. Shrugging her shoulders slightly, she finished her notes.

"Each teacher will assign his or her own final date, but they will be the second to last week of the term... pretty soon actually..."

Ooc: starting next sunday.

Egyptian_Blue 10-11-2006 12:13 AM

Alanna nodded to herself. The second to last week of term was coming up fast. She quickly skimmed through her Muggle Studies notebook, checking to see she had complete notes.

Maxilocks 10-11-2006 11:24 AM

Tia noted down the name "Elephant" next to her sketch of the huge quadruped. She then flipped through what she had noted down throughout the lesson, making a few corrections here and there, and correctly spelling errors, though there were not many. She heard the Professor tell the class about the exams, and nodded to herself, before closing her notes and looking around.

Little Trooper 10-12-2006 03:14 PM

Amy sat their and finsished taking the notes she needed. Then also noted about the exams next week. Hope she would do okay on them.

lightstar1154 10-12-2006 07:40 PM

Professor Light grabbed a stack of papers. They were perfectly white and they had black printed letters on them, like ones that would come out of a typewriter.

"Alright, in an effort to save time, I've made you guys a typed worksheet. You'll see two columns... on one side, an elephant, and a picture, and the other side, a tiger and a picture. There are 4 categories under each thing... Physical Description, Where Found, Special Abilities, and What it Eats. All you need to do is fill in the columns while I explain each creature, and you'll have a side-by side comparison of each animal."

Professor Light looked around the room and then began to talk about the elephant. "Alright now, elephants are very unique creatures. They are usually some shade of gray, and are characterized by their big ears, long noses (called trunks) and large white tusks. Elephants can be found in Africa, but some can be found in Asia as well. And Elephant's trunk is really unique in that it helps the elephant eat and bathe. The trunk has tons of muscles in it so it can move almost anyway it wants to... and elepants are not picky eaters. They will eat any sort of vegetation ranging from grass to woody plants. Elephants can live to be 60 years old, so if you plan on adopting an elephant, it'll stay with you a LONG time." Professor Light laughed and tapped her wand to the board... All the information she has just said appeared in large paragraph form.

"Copy down what you need!"

roonilwazlib 10-13-2006 12:42 AM

Sean nodded, "I can't wait for the Finals to be over. I'm so nervous," he said to himself. Sean then looked up at the board and then down at the sheet and started filling it in.

girl of ur dreams 10-13-2006 12:45 AM

Sara scribbled down her notes quickly and looked back up, popping her gum. Hmm, Finals, that's gonna suck. Oh well, I should do pretty good. She tuned back in to Professor Light and then began following instructions, humming to herself a muggle song called "Lips Like Morphine"

Egyptian_Blue 10-14-2006 01:04 AM

Alanna scribbled down her notes in barley legible writing, mouthing the words as she went. Elephants...Africa...trunk... She finished copying down the paragraph and flexed her fingers.

lightstar1154 10-14-2006 07:14 PM

Professor Light waited until most of the kids stopped writing answers on their sheets.

"Alright now, let's talk about the other animal, the tiger. The tiger is a bit different in that there are many more species and kinds of tigers than there are of elephants. Tigers are carnivores, so they will eat what they kill. And the striping pattern on their bodies is not just for fun, tigers need their strips to help them blend with their surroundings so as to be able to catch food. Tigers are very large and strong, and it's rather sad to report that, like elephants, tigers are slowly being killed to the point of where they might become extinct."

Professor Light paused, happily moved toward the door and began again, "I hope that information wasn't too rushed for you all, I just wanted to keep this class sort of short. Most of this will not appear on the final, but I wanted to be sure to cover it. Whenever you are done copying your animal-info into your notes, grab a handful of animal crackers, and feel free to leave... I'll see you final exam time! Study hard!" She winked at them and began to munch on some of the animal crackers. She had always loved those things so much...

Loki 10-14-2006 09:23 PM

Marie wrote down everything that the teacher told them. She tooked few minutes to make sure she didn't forgot anything. "Nope. Everything sounds good", Said to herself. She put all her stuff back into her bag. As she was passing by near the professor desk she took some of animal crackers & said to the teacher with a big smile "Bye Professor. See you at the finals". Then she lived the class

roonilwazlib 10-15-2006 04:20 PM

Sean finished taking the notes and then packed up to go. He threw on his bag, walked up to the front of the classroom, took some animal crackers, and said, "Nice class today, Professor. See you at exams time," and started to snack and left.
