Cassandra took some ants out and placed them on her desk. They began walking in all different directions and she smiled as she was watching them.

Jackie took some ants and went back to her desk. She made a wall of books on her desk so the ants, who were trying to escape anyway they could, couldn't fall off the desk.

Looking almost dead, Rosalie picked up some ants, and despoited them on her desktop. Or attempted at least. They wouldn't leave her hand.

Lee followed Ganymede's actions and took a pinch of ants out of the same jar that she had which was in front of him. He placed a barrier around his ants so they wouldn't escape as fast as they would normally without obstacles in their way.

kally watched cassandra's ants before letting her own walk around, sh emsiled. "they are so cute." she whispered.

Jackie raised her eyebrow. Cute? That was a matter of opinon, she guessed. Not paying attention, one of the ants bit her hand that was blocking an exit out of her book fortress. "Ow!" she yelped quietly before replacing her hand with another book.

Cassandra looked at the Prefect and turned to him "Excuse me, how'd you do that?" she asked him in a whisper. Her ants were running around rampid.

Cassandra smiled to her friend and nodded. She was happy Kally wasn't still mad at her.

"professor??" kally said, "can we start turngin them into rice now??" she asked sweetly tryign not to sound rude of interupt.

Waiting for further instruction, Jackie started practicing the wand movement. That was the hard part; saying the spell was no problem at all.

Rose got up and wondered how many ants were considered a pinch. She hesitantly picked out each ant until she had 6 or 7, which she considered a pinch. She went back to her desk and put the ants down, hoping none of them would scuttle off.

Siriana stood up, walked to the desk and took a pinch of ants. She find it very hard to bring them on her desk and really hard to make them stay put when she placed them on her desk so she quickly pulled some books out of her bag to make a barrier.

"Shoot!" Rose said louder than normal. Several of her ants were moving fairly quickly. "Come HERE" Rose yelled, thinking maybe ants from the wizarding world understood English. She found some books in her back and placed them around the four edges of her desk.

Jackie withdrew her hand from her desk as an ant pinched her again. They clearly knew something bad was going to happen. "What is with these ants?" she complained as they tried to climb up the books. She responded by knocking them back on her desk

:: Professor Ganymede supressed a giggle as she watched her students. "They are a bit hungry. Their bites are harmless. But still try not to loose any." She told them quickly, seeing some of the students were getting anxious.

She began pacing infront of her desk. "Yes, let us begin. Now, Lee. You'll be able to show us. Just follow the directions on the board." She pointed to the directions on the board with her wand and then smiled at Lee.

"Try to speak loud enough so the back can hear." She added waving her wand across the classroom. ::

Alicia walked upto the professor's desk and grabbed a pinch of ants from one of the jars, she scurried back down and lay them on her desk. As required they obidiently formatted a circle shape. She awaited Lee to start the explanation "Ooouch, these ants are horribly bitey you evil invertebrates" Alicia managed to make it into a small whisper, when it should've been a shouted moan, after all she was sititng at the front and she didnt want to lose House Points for interupting. Suddenly all the ants scurried upto her as if she was some peice of food and some of then even bit her. She knocked them away and then grabbed a spare jar from her bag and collected them in there. Then she looked up at the professor eagerly, im patiently awaiting the chance to make these horrible, man eating invertibrates into small, harmless, lifeless rice, her lips curved into an evil smile, but then she regained her controls a little and turned her head to Lee, having a small smile lay on her face and attention to him, she wanted to get this spell absolutely perfect, this Transfiguration lesson, was going to come in very handy for the future, she thought to herself.

Lee couldnt help but smile when Ganymede volunteered him to show the rest of the class. She owed him major house points. "Like so," Lee removed his wand from his sleeve and swooped it quickly downward giving it the quick, sharp jab at the end, following this procedure with the incantation, "Inverti Apocri." The spell hit the barriered ants on Lee's desk which took a couple of seconds to turn into grains of rice. "Easy enough."

Alicia smiled at Lee, and then opened the lid of her jar of ants carefully, they all flooded out into a barrier, and she had to think quickly, she didnt want to get bitten. She pulled out her wand sharply and pointed it at the frightened ants, then she sharply jabbed her wand and incantated 'Inverti Apocri!'. The spell hit the ants alright, except that they were white, and still had there heads and were 'jumping' like a grasshoper. Alicia sighed "nearly" she said.

"Professor?" Cassandra called, "May I get some more ants?" The ants on her desk had all walked off and she was now swatting them off her body.

Alicia looked at Cassandra, and then smiled. She raised her hand and asked "Professor, what is the counter-spell for this spell??".

Ariana watched as Lee showed them, still a bit shaken up after Charms class. She took out her wand and smirked at the ants crawling on her desk, trying to scurry away from her. She tried doing the wand movement, then saying the spell, yet nothing happened. Determined to do this properly, she practised the movements first, then tried saying the spell in her mind a few time to get it right.

Soon, she felt she had it right and performed the wand movements, pointing her wand at the poor, scurrying ants and said loudly "Inverti Apocri". The ants stopped as if they were stuck and slowly turned into rice. She smiled proudly at herself and waited for further instructions.

With a half smile,Catalina eyed the ants before her shiftly-not sure exactly how to approach them seeing as she had missed the Proffessors first instructions seeing as she was caught up in her own thoughts at the time.Thankfully,she was back on track now and alert.As the proffessor volunteered the hufflepuff prefect-Catalina nearly let out a sigh of relief.The 6th year Gryffindor watched him turn the ants into rice succesfully,and smiled.'He must be a good wizard...'she thought to herself,seeing as the Proffesor chose him to perform the spell in front of the class. After taking a closer look at the bored,she noticed that the dirrections where right there.Feeling incredibly stupid at the moment-she began blushing again,for no apparent reason. Cat then looked back to the ants,that were now crawling around on her desk and laughed to herself. Thinking back to what The Prefect did,Catalina sent another furative glance towards the ants and then pointed her wand at them,with a swoosh and a quick sharp jab,follwed by the incantation of "Inverti Apocri." the ants slowly-it seemed to take quite long- turned into grains of white rice. Catalina beamed happily,and then turned her face towards the Proffessor with a nod and smile.

Alicia tried once more, this time she practised the wand movement a few times, and then to say Inverti Apocri! clear, concise and strong. She then got a new pinch of ants from the Professor's jar and walked back upto her desk. She lay the ants on her working space and then pulled out her wand carefully, eyed the ants with her wand and sharply jabbd again with her wand, strongly and clear, then she said 'Inverti Apocri!' as she had trained to do so, and amazingly the ants did turn into rice! She smirked, then smiled broadly, full of happiness and relief.

Jackie waved her wand and said "Inverti Apocri!" and did the wand movement that was explained on the board. At first, nothing happened. She tried again. And again. On her fifth try, the ants turned a light brown color, but not until the sixth try did they turn into rice. Jackie sighed happily, just hoping she would be able to do it again if she needed too.

:: "That was perfect Lee. 5 points to Sly.." She stopped herself and sighed. She almost rewarded Slytherin points for what Lee did. "5 points to Hufflepuff." She then bent over towards Lee, smiled and muttered sweetly, "I wish you were in Slytherin."

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Cassandra (who was a Slytherin) struggling with the ants. Professor Ganymede quickly jumped up and waved her wand over Cassandra. All the ants on her turned into rice and fell to the stoney ground. "There.. lets not waste them. Go ahead and collect the rice off the floor." She told the young Slytherin, who now had no more ants on her. She then added, "Please try to keep the ants from wandering off."

At Alicia's question, Professor Ganymede squeaked, "Eh? Counterspell of course." She had a bad habit of forgetting to tell her students the counterspells. She began to wring her hands together nervously.

She went to her large desk and opened the middle drawer. Inside was one of the new books.

"Well, if you all would have read chapter 6 page 391. The counterspell to invertebrate Transfiguration spells into common plant based objects is.. 'Inverta Retosis!"' She said a with a raised eyebrow. "With the swish and flick wand movement." Then she peered about sternly and added, "It'll be easier for me to clean up though if the ants remain as rice." She then placed the book on her desk, so that it faced the board.

"I guess you can practice it, but once they are ants quickly make them rice." She shrugged and sat down at her desk to show them how to do it.

"Inverta Retosis!" She said quite loudly with a swish of her wand. The rice on her desk wiggled and turned black. Soon they were marching in a circle once more. ::

Jackie waved her wand and muttered the counter charm. They turned back into ants immediatly. They seemed a bit confused, but then resumed their quest for escape. She quickly jabbed her wand and they became rice again. It was really easy once she got the hang of it. She turned them back to ants, then back to rice.

"Professor, will this be on OWLs?" she asked as she raised her hand. Her ants had been turned to rice to prevent them from wandering off.
