Elijah blinked at a younger student who decided to take it upon herself to once again cut infront of him and Kay. "I beg your pardon," he said as polietly as he could. "But two of your housemates have been standing here for a few minutes now, waiting to see Professor Lainey. As you can see she isn't available at the moment, otherwise why would we be standing here in the first place. Kindly wait your turn."

He turned back to Kay at her questions about Rae telling Lainey the truth about all of this. "I can't see why Rae wouldn't tell the truth," he said. "She's always had everyone else's interests before her own. Why would she want to cover up something like this?"

Kay continued to fiddle with the sleeve of his robe. "You know my feelings on this issue, Elijah. Maybe . . . just maybe Professor Lainey will prove me wrong," she said quietly to him.

Lainey eyed Julia. Yeah right, she thought. Just because she'd behaved at dinner didn't really mean all that much when talking about this particular cape wearing Ravenclaw.

"Please to make your acquaintence, Thump. Hope to see you in class soon," Lainey replied just before hurrying over to her door. Swinging it wide and propping it open, Lainey found three students: Two Kay's and Elijah. "You know you all are always welcome. No need to knock. Come in, come in." Lainey tossed them each a peppermint, though the worried looks on at least two of her students did not go unnoticed. "What can I do for you?"

Kay glanced up as the door opened and out of the corner of her eye saw Lainey pitch two peppermints their way. She instinctively reached out and grabbed them out of the air with her hand. "Um, thanks Professor," she said politely and walked into the office with Elijah following behind her.

Her eyes (still a bit puffy from crying earlier) darted about the room as she tried to figure out how to approach the subject she was here about. "I . . . we, um, need to speak with you," she said in a serious voice and gave Elijah's hand a gentle squeeze (she had not let go of his hand since they left the Common Room). "In private, if that's possible." She had to say that because she spotted Julia in the room and had a feeling she would lose her composure yet again.

Lainey cleared her throat and popped a peppermint in her mouth. "Very well," she motioned for them to come back. She opened the door to her private quarters. Not many, if any to be honest, had ever been back there.

She left the rest of her students in her office, "I'll be right back." And shut the door behind herself and the two students.

Lainey's quarters were all blue, from every wall to the bedspread, each pillow and rug, curtains and slippers. She pointed them to a small couch near a cozy fireplace. "What's up, guys?"

Kay obediently sat down on the couch and stared at the floor. This was going to be harder than she thought it would be. "I . . . we . . . I," she stumbled over her words as she fought to keep from crying again but the attempt failed.

"Why is the student who attacked me still at Hogwarts?" she cried out miserably and buried her face in Elijah's robes.

Lainey's first thought went to Matt... Voldemortist. She paled dramatically, flashing back to their encounter over the break. Her voice was barely above a whisper. "He's not here, Kay. He said...," Lianey broke off. She passed Elijah a handkerchief.

"N-not Matt," Kay sobbed and peeked over at Lainey. "L-linny told me that another s-student attacked me in the Restricted Section." She pulled herself away from Elijah so that she could see Lainey's face when she told her the student's name.

"It was Rave," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Rave had actually slipped Lainey's mind... "Oh...," Lainey stood and turned her back, pretending to be busy looking for something on a nearby table. She'd completely forgotten such a crucial piece of information. "Rave is being closely monitored. The Staff... are aware." Lainey's eyes flashed, they were never aware enough. "I would practice extreme caution however. You have read the papers as I have. He is out there.... be cautious," Lainey whispered in a faraway tone. She was being even stranger than usual.

Kay felt like she was going to faint upon hearing the news and all color drained from her face. "You . . . you . . . you knew?" she whispered in disbelief.

Phoebe was puzzled at the Proffesors sudden change in her expression. "Oh, I am sorry, no I won't say the name, sorry" Phoebe said confused at what she had done wrong. "how were your holidays Proffesor? You have been the first teacher to accualy talk to everyone, that's very nice of you" Phoebe said changing the subject smiling.

"There is nothing I can do about it, Kay," Lainey said sternly. "She's an underage wizard that was most likely possessed by the darkest wizard of our time. You have to understand and accept. And be cautious." Lianey whipped around, her hands firmly on her hips.

The big doors creeked as sydney stepped inside. "Is this the history of magic????" Sydney asked hoping she got the right room. A sigh of relief crossed Sydney's face when she was told yes this is the right room!!!! Sydney took her seat and listened to the history of magic!!!! "Yes this is just what i expected" Sydney said.

"Underage, or not," Elijah said, "She still attacked Kay. She can't possibly go unpunished completely, Professor. She can't."

Kay sat back on the couch, speechless for a moment while she tried to think about what Lainey said but she was still upset that none of the staff managed to tell her what happened. It was this little issue that bothered her the most (and Elijah had to endure her ranting over it on occasion). "Then why didn't the person in charge of this school have the common decency to visit the hospital wing and check on the progress of those who were injured? And why did I have to hear the truth from Lee, Linny and that cowardly Slytherin?" she stated quietly.

"If you're going to put blame on someone - put it on me. I am your Head of House and should have been there. The end of term, as per usual, was a whirlwind of drama and over before I could fathom what happend and the extent of it. You have my deepest appologies, Kay. You really do."

Lainey sighed heavily. "Look, I plan on talking to Rave myself. I'm going to keep close watch on her and I'd feel much better if you both would keep a heavy eye on her for me as well. Can I depend on you both for that?"

Kay nodded her head at Lainey's apology and reached for Elijah's hand. "You can depend on me, Professor Lainey," she said hoarsely and managed to offer a smile of encouragement.

Elijah glanced over at Kay, and gave her hand squeeze. "Same here, Professor," he said turning back to Lainey. "I'll espcially make sure nothing more happens to anyone else on Rave's behalf."

"Don't let her know you're plans or suspicions. That's very important. Keep a low profile. And most importantly, watch out for one another and the younger studens. Anything fishy, I want to hear about it straight away." Lainey stood, indicating their meeting was over. "I have to get back to my office now. You two can take a moment if you need." Lainey bowed her head to them both, thoroughly disgusted with herself and how she'd let Kay down the previous term... among other people.


She re-entered her office to find a new face and Phoebe. However, Phoebe yet again had brought up a sensitive subject that made her stammer for a moment. "Well.. I.... it was fine. Just fine." She stared at the poor girl, trying to apologize for her abrupt actions with her eyes. Probably failed, so she moved on. "You expected a blue room full of students and peppermints, Sydney? Well, I'm glad someone's not disappointed!"

Tia slowly walked up to the History of Magic corridor, before knocking at the door of the Professor's office. She examined the door for a second, completely ignoring the voices issuing from inside. She didn't want the Professor to hurry up if she was already engaged in something important, but then again, she wanted her to hurry up.

"Yes, ma'am," Kay answered and watched Lainey leave the room. As soon as she saw that they were alone, she turned to Elijah. "Something isn't right, but let's discuss that later. I - I'm feeling a bit worn out after all of this." Her face still hadn't fully regained its color after hearing Lainey's confession and she was feeling a bit light headed. "Let's get back to the Common Room," she said and squeezed his hand gently.

Lainey hurried over to her door. "Tia! Come on in. Everyone else already has," she laughed, ushering her in. "What can I do for you?"

Elijah nodded his head slightly. "I agree... something is a bit off..." He turned to look at her to see her face more pale than it had been when she first out about the horrific events of last term. He stood up and helped her up as well.

"Come on, let's stop by the Great Hall first," he said. "You should get a little something to eat, and some fluids in you."

He lead her out of Lainey's office and gave his Head of House a simple nod of his head, but didn't acknowledge anyone else

Julia blinked out of confusion as Lainey, Kay and Elijah went into a separate room, then came back a bit later. She watched her two friends begin to leave and bit her lower lip, very curious as to what was going on. "Well, Professor Lainey... it was nice talking to you," she casually told her HoH. "See you in, um, classes and stuff." Julia quickly threw her school bag over her shoulder and followed Elijah and Kay out of the room.

Nicole took a peppermint. She was a bit upset by the Ravenclaw remark, though she couldn't be mad. She was their head of house. Nicole had thought that she would be in Ravenclaw. She was one of the smartest in her muggle school, and she loved to read. She kind of wished she were in Ravenclaw, but she was still happy being in Gryffindor. It was also a great house, and she knew a lot of awesome Gryffies.

"Thank you for the mint," Nicole said softly.
