The walls were back to their blue state. Even the ceiling had somehow got painted blue. It was fabulous to Lainey and she had a certain Slytherins or two to thank for it. Her office was now re-decorated with all her keepsakes that Borr had taken from her. Yet another Slytherin had made sure to keep her things safe until her return. Assorted chocolates could be found in almost any area of Lainey's office, all courtesy of Professor McAiken. The only thing missing this term was Lainey's elf, Hubert. He had needed a break and even though he had fought against it, Lainey ordered him to take a vacation.

Things had changed over the summer though. After an encounter with an old ... shall we say acquaitance ... Lainey had gone from quirky to paranoid. The event in Hogsmeade had haunted her for the whole of summer and she was still trying shake the feeling that she was being watched.

Seated in her high backed chair, Professor Lainey works on repairing an old History book. She looks up as you enter and clearly is not sure if she trusts you. "Hi. What can I do for you?"

Lor entered the blue room still staring at her schedule, but looked up when she heard,"Hi. What can I do for you?" "Hi," Lor replied, "I was wondering, hoping really that this was the History of Magic room!" "Am I in the right place?" she asked shyly.

Brianna entered the room behind a brown haired Gryffindor of about her age and an older Ravenclaw boy. Then she quietly said " Hi, I'm Brianna Katelyn Evans and I wanted you to know that I'm going to try to do my best in this class " to her professor. She then walked around the classroom to use up some of her spare time. It was so obvious she was excited about this class . She always loved learning about history before she started this year at Hogwarts. After a quick view of the room she walked out and headed back to the Ravenclaw common room.

kally walked up to the classroom door and knocked. She liked history of magic she just wasn't very good at it.

Jacques sauntered into Professor Lainey's office.

" 'Allo professor" he said smiling. "I was wondering when ze first class would be? I am so eager to attend..."

Kay stepped into the classroom. Contrary to popular opinion, Kay found History to be a wonderful subject. She knew that now that it was History of Magic, it would be no different. She was smiling as she looked around. "Hello, I'm Kay. I was just wondering when our first class would be. I simply can't wait to start this class!"

Nicole walked into the room. She stared in awe around the room. It was beautiful with the blue everywhere. Then she looked down.

"Umm, hello. I just wanted to say that I am really looking forward to this class. Being muggleborn, it was a bit of a surprise to learn that I was a witch. I tried to learn as much about the history, but there's still loads of stuff I want to learn, and I hope to learn a lot in this class." Nicole stood there, hoping she had made a good first impression on her new teacher. There was just so much to learn, and she wanted to take in every drop of it.

Julia carefully tip-toed towards Lainey's office and peeked her head in. There were already students that had arrived. Of course, as always. Luckily last term Julia had thought ahead and arrived first. But this term she wasn't exactly planning on visiting her favorite professor until she found a certain object of hers.

She had given it a lot of thought, and decided that if she didn't go visit Lainey right away, that she might become suspcious of Julia and think she was off causing trouble or had a reason to not want to talk to her. What a clever little Ravenclaw, right?

So Julia carefully walked into her HoH's office and glanced around. Ah... all blue. Just the way I like it, she thought to herself, grinning stupidly. Julia looked around at the younger students, then at a familiar-looking Slytherin student. Wasn't he the same year as her? After a moment of gazing at the boy, she turned to Lainey.

"Hello Professor Lainey!" she greeted, trying to make herself sound cheerful and not extremely nervous. She beamed widely and asked, "Did you appreciate the note that I left for you? I kept my promise, and didn't start any food fights or get us in the negatives. It appears someone else took the pleasure of doing that this term."

Phoebe walked in after politely knowcking. "Goodmorning proffesor Lainley, How were your holidays.If you don't remember me I'm Phoebe a big fan of your classes" She said smiling. "I guess I just came to say Hi and to ask if we will be continuing with Thomas Duskurk?" She asked.

Rebecca Levski entered the History of Magic classroom. history was the most deep subject. she could not wait and walked upto the professor already surrounded by new students.
"Good morning, Professor. I'm Rebecca Levski and I think this will room this year is going to hold some very fond memories"

After knocking, Sean walked into Professor Lainey's office and introduced himself. "Hello there Professor. My name is Sean Davidson and I am a first year Ravenclaw. I thought I'd come and introduce myself to you and to tell you I cannot wait for classes to start."

As usual, the start of term turned her usually quite quiet door to a non stop revolving one. Children were from wall to wall, and Lainey loved it. She greeted them each. "Lor, Eliza, it's lovely to see you. You are indeed in the History Professor's office. Mr.Longdo, no one knows that and don't ever believe anyone that tells you otherwise. The ever so talented Rowena Ravenclaw made sure no one would know that." Lainey waved to both Brianna and Cally. She shook her amusedly to Jacques. "Soon, sweetheart. And Kay and Nicole, I feel you excitement. I too am very exited about this year."

Then Julia walked in. "You're being almost too good, if the truth is known Missy Julia. If I didn't know any better, I'd almost say you stopping by is a tad suspicious." Lainey flicked her a peppermint from her office and smiled.

But the next student to speak made Lainey's heart stop beating for a moment. It had been the simple mentioning of a simple and most of the time forgotten name: Thomas Durskurk. Lainey stared at the child. Phoebe had done or said nothing wrong, yet the good feeling she'd had just previously were all gone. "We... no. No we will not. Let's not mention the name," Lainey replied nervously. "Last year was last year, after all." She tried to laugh off the uncomfortableness she'd created and moved on to the other students.

"Rebecca, I can assure we'll make some good memories in class. It's never boring, that's for sure. Becky, we'll have so much fun. I promise." Amber, Sean, and Nicole were all Ravenclaws. Lainey made sure to write down all of the Claw's that had stopped by. She wanted to keep tabs on them from the get go. "I'm sure you all three will do wonderfully in history. All Ravenclaws usually do. That endless thrist for knowledge you know!"

Lainey took a deep breath and then passed around peppermints for everyone.

"Thank you Professor Lainey," said Sean as he took a peppermint. "Well, I'd better be going now, see you when classes start Professor." and Sean walked out of the classroom and back up to his dormitory.

Julia bit her lower lip softly as Lainey spoke. She knows. She knows something is wrong. How does she always know?! she thought to herself worriedly as she tried to think of something to say. "Suspicious? Me? Nah. I um... err... well, I'm, uh, just trying to be the... good kid that you want me to.. be," she said slowly, then suddenly started quietly laughing at the thought of becoming a well-behaved student. After a moment Julia quickly stopped laughing, and mentally kicked herself for blowing her cover.

Well, at least I can make her think that I'll be a good student for awhile... and then maybe that will help me get away with the Interhouse Slip-N-Slide tournament... Julia grinned innocently up at Lainey and took the peppermint. She casually pocketed it, glanced at all the students, then commented, "You sure do have a lot of admirers..."

Walking into the classroom and taking in the apprihensive look in the professors eyes "Hello Professor Lainey my names Thump Nixon and im a first year Ravenclaw. I just wanted to stop by and let you know i cant wait for your class to start. Another upperclassman Ravie named Julia said your class is a blast so i cant wait to see for myself" and with that he took a peppermint that the teacher had kindly passed him and started to go "see you around professor".

Kay had been silent since she and Elijah had left the Ravenclaw Common Room and made their way to Lainey's office. Her mind was still reeling from Rave's revelation outside of Branxton's office and the events of that night were beginning to replay themselves in her head.

Finally, they reached their destination and Kay reached up and knocked twice on Professor Lainey's door. "I hope she's in, Elijah," she said quietly and squeezed his hand.

Elijah heaved a heavy sigh as he gazed on the door of Professor Lainey's office. He looked down at Kay as he felt her hand tighten its grip on his own. "Don't worry," he said with a smile. "She's gotta be here."

Though in the back of his mind, Elijah wasn't sure at all if Lainey was in her office. The first week back of school and the professors are bound to be busy planning lessons and making sure... well... making sure the school is safe and secure.

He sighed once more, this time more to himslef as he turned back to Lainey's door.

Kay peeked into Professor Lainey's office. She had wanted to have a conversation with the teacher of her favorite class, History, for a very long time. "Professor Lainey?" she ventured. "I just wanted to have a little chat." She bit her lip in anticipation. But, looking around, she didn't see the Professor. She left with a sadness that she wasn't able to talk to the Professor.

ooc: The door is locked. All you can do is knock and wait for the professor to let you in. Plus, you stepped in front of 2 seventh years who are waiting in front of the door.

Kay raised an eyebrow at the first year who stepped in front of them and tried to open the professor's door. She cleared her throat and was about to say something when the girl left.

"Do you think that the Headmistress told Professor Lainey the truth?" she asked Elijah and began to fiddle with the sleeve of his robes. "I know that you are close to her, but I'm curious because she never took the time to ask me or Lee what happened." She looked up at him, searching for an answer in his expression.
