If you've made it past the gargoyle, all that stands between you and the Headmistress is a solid wood door. On the other side of the door is a high ceilinged room with a desk at the far end. The walls are stacked with innumerable portraits, although they all appear to be sleeping deeply or otherwise engaged. The shelves and tables are lined with strange objects, some that seem almost familiar to you, and even a few you are certain are mutated Dark Magic Detectors. A low row of pictures line a bookshelf otherwise filled with various texts, and each features the same blond woman waving happily with some other person.

Behind the desk sits a woman deep in thought. Her honey-colored hair is braided and coiled around her head like a crown. She is wearing dark blue robes with flowers embroidered along the hems and neckline. Overall, she gives off quite a solemn appearance, until a sound from you catches her attention. When she looks at you, you realize her eyes are full of laughter and a smile plays around her lips. "What can I help you with today?"

ooc: Do NOT, under fear of punishment and of me giggling and pointing at you... do NOT post in this thread unless you have the password legitimately. Also... the Gargoyle thread may be used as a sort of waiting area for the Headmistress.

Bucky stared at Professor Rae, she opened her mouth several times and glanced around her to see what she was talking about. So she had been attacked as well.

"What?" She replied brow furrowed. "How could we? We just arrived!"

Great. Now the Headmistress thought they had wrecked her office. Bucky couldn't have possibly done it anyways. She couldn't even charm a button. Next thing she knew Rae had turned to Jen. Well, this just kept getting worse.

"But Professor! We didn't do anything," she lamented and entered the office taking a seat quickly before the Headmistress decided to do something worse with them.

Kay stood in the doorway and stared at the mess that was now Rae's office. "I can come back later, Professor Rae," she said quietly because she did not feel her presence at that moment was appropriate.

Jen was stunned and a little angered by Rae's accusation. "Professor, we just got here," she said struggling to keep her voice even. "We came to tell you our common room has been ransacked."

The idea that Bucky and herself had somehow let themselves into the Headmistress' office, destroyed it, escaped, and then returned was completely absurd. Jen was stung by the fact that Rae would even think they were capable of something like that.

Rae sighed in relief and offered a slightly embarrassed smile. "Well, that's better then. It seems we have a school-wide situation if both your common room and my office were hit." She took to her seat and tried not to look too concerned. Surely they all were thinking the same thing... the common rooms were trashed last term, and it had been Voldemortist's doing.

Jen slowly sank into an empty chair, staring at Professor Rae. Apparently her paranoia had not been completely unfounded after all. Tearing her eyes away from Rae, she took in the destroyed state of the office, searching for something, anything that seemed out of place.

"Our common room was ransacked earlier. There was smoke, everyone fell asleep, and the next thing we knew we were waking up to a vandalized common room," she offered as an explanation.

At the mention of a school-wide situation, something else popped into Jen's head. "Professor, something else happened to me in the hall earlier. I was with a friend and Bucky's tortoise Rosemary had followed us. Rosemary got herself stuck to my friend's pants and we were trying to get her off when," at this Jen paused glancing sideways at Bucky, "she just vanished."

Celestina nodded along to Jen's explanation. She made a mental note of pointing out that even the portraits had been stunned but before she could speak somehow the conversation turned to Rosemary. Didn't Rosemary? She thought she had killed her own turtle! Somehow she had escaped the common room. Again, that silly reptile and now it was...gone?

"Vanished?" Bucky asked turning on Jen, eyes wide with fear. "Turtles don't just vanish in thin air!"

Now facing her Headmistress, mouth partially open she didn't know what quite to say or do at the moment. Her pet had disappeared. Just, gone. If whatever was the cause for these strange attacks took a turtle what would be next.

Quickly wiping away a rebel tear, she sniffed, determined not to cry.

"Why is this happening?"

"I couldn't tell you, but I'll call the staff together to see if we can't figure it out," Rae laid a comforting hand on the girl's before she considered all they'd said. "I can't tie the strings together yet. My office. Your common room. A turtle. Conceivably, there are probably more places that have been attacked, and who knows if anyone is wounded? Still... wouldn't you think a dangerous presence would want his or herself to be known? Why go to the trouble of secrecy?"

Solemn, Celestina merely stared attentively at Professor Rae. Yes, her gesture had been slightly comforting but she still was clueless as to what was happening and it seemed her Headmistress didn't have an explanation or didn't want to give one just yet.

"I don't know," she answered her last question. "Perhaps whatever it is is not ready yet to be identified. Maybe this is just it's first attack. Who knows," she muttered thinking about possibly wounded students. "Do you really think anyone was wounded? Our common room was quite crowded. It could have hurt anyone and it didn't. I don't think students were it's target."

But then she thought about the Professors. What if it attacked other Professors.

"Do you want us to leave now Professor? I'm sure you want to gather up your staff as soon as possible," she questioned, unsure if she was just wasting the Headmistress time.

She sighed and offered a small smile. "I think I'll follow you down the stairs and make sure no one down there is in dire straits. Perhaps you could post a missing poster on each house's bulletin board?"

Jen's stomach was in knots. She hadn't planned on mentioning Rosemary's disappearance to Bucky but by the same token she didn't want to keep anything from Rae.

The fact that Rae seemed just as surprised as she was at the moment was not very comforting. Bucky had raised a good point however. No one in their common room had been hurt. But that could just mean the students were safe for now. Or maybe this thing was after the professors.

"I'll help you look for Rosemary," Jen said softly to Bucky. She only hoped they would have more luck than her and Nik had had earlier today. "Professor," she addressed Rae, "Is there anything else we can do to help?"

"Not as of yet, but I appreciate the offer," Rae rose. "Actually, please go aroudn and let all the professors know that I'd like to meet with them in the staff room as soon as they can get there." She nodded her thanks.

Bucky could simply nod her head at everything that was being said to her. Not the best forms of communication but it would have to do for now. She stood up, grabbing Jen by the arm more as a sense of security than a way of balancing herself.

"We'll get right on it," she replied and exited the Headmistress' office with her House Prefect.

Rae exited her office right behind the Gryff girls, preparing to face a deluge of students outside the gargoyle.

A smallish snowy owl tapped his beak on one of the closed window's of the Headmistress' Office, carrying a letter in his beak. The words Headmistress Rae could been seen on the front of the envelope, and if opened, the letter would read:

Professor Rae,

Hi. I hope you are having a lovely term. I an writing to you to ask a favor. I am a writer for the Quill, and my assignment for the next issue is to conduct an interview with a student. I have no specific ideas or requirements for whom the student is, so I was thinking having a student of the month would be fun. I wondering if you could possibly bring it up in the next staff meeting. The staff members could talk and decide on a student who they all think is quite good in all or most of their classes. The student would also be someone they find caring, responsible, and an excellent homework do-er. Then, for the Quill, I would interview the student, just ask them a few questions about themself, their homework, and their classes.

One of the school’s barn owls -a pasty-grey one- rapped upon the Headmistress’ closed window with one of its clawed feet, carrying a letter which was firmly held within its beak. Headmistress Rae –important! could be seen on the face of it. When read, the letter would read as such:

Dear Headmistress Rae,

I have been informed of a strange message written upon the door of my cabin by one of the students. The message in question which reads, “Out here, all alone. Gee, could anyone hear you if you screamed?” Is both of a disturbing and threatening nature. Not only that, but I have also stumbled upon another of these messages scrawled upon one of the outer-walls of the Grounds which reads: “In and Out. I'm always in and out. Can't stop me from getting in. Can't stop me from leaving.” I fear that these messages may somehow be linked to the culprit of the recent attacks within the halls. Is there anything you would advise me to do to ensure that the Grounds are more secure and safe in the event these messages hold more meaning than they are letting on?

Professor Virohsa followed the Headmistress inside the office. She waited for the Headmistress to be settled in before raising the subject of the unnerving message she had just received.

Rae took a moment to respond to the owls waiting for her before she looked expectantly at Virohsa. "Alright, my dear... can you tell me why you just ordered me into my own office like a student? If you have something to say, please say it."

"There are good news... and bad news", she started to say as she looked at the impatient glance on Rae's eyes. "The good news is that Professor Lainey is not being controlled by the Voldemortist as I had previously suspected," she explained. "The bad news is that she is meeting with him in dark corners and doing his bidding."

She didn't expect the Headmistress to believe her and didn't feel she needed to explain how she came about this information or what the other information entailed. After all, she believed that the Headmistress would decide to trust her long-time friend regardless of the information that was divulged. At least this way, if the Headmistress decided to talk to Professor Lainey, Lainey would not know the extent of her knowledge.

Virohsa looked at Rae and waited. Not for an answer or a plan, but to be excused. After all, she had to track down the perpretator before she accomplished these deeds.

The curtains swished and the blinds went up and down. A loud shrieking noise was heard and a blinding light filled the office. Portraits were hanging backwards and books were flying all over the place. The occupants hair was messed up and their wands suspended in the air.

Professor Virohsa had been flung to the other side of the room hitting her head on the side of the wall and a portrait fell leaving her unconsious.The chair Headmistress Rae had been occupied spun around in circles. Soon after it all started, it ended. The curtains calmed and the blinds stilled. The books stopped falling and the light returned to normal.

As Rae's chair stopped spinning, she looked about her in shock. This was a safe place that was ultimately impossible for any Dark Wizard or mischievious student to reach. She reached for her wand and it zipped into her hand. With a few wand motions, Rae had her Dark magic detector spinning, the paintings flipped back, and her hair lying as flat as could be expected.

She turned to where Virohsa lay. The other professor was injured, but it didn't look fatal. Rae helped prop her up before ennervating the other woman. "How does your head feel?"

One second, Professor Virohsa was waiting impatiently to leave. The next, she was flipped towards the wall by an unseen force of uncalculable strength. Her head hitting hard on the floor, Virohsa lost consciousness instantly.

While she was out, she had a weird dream about pixies eating all of the feed for her plants and her plants had started to riot. The plants seemed to think it funny to throw coconuts at her head. Virohsa started to run for cover, running away from the coconuts. It was then when she was yelling at them to stop, when the Headmistress awakened her.

Startled as she was, she looked cautiously for any pixies. "I'm allright," she answered even though she wasn't exactly sure why she was at the Headmistress' office.

"Let's get you down to the infirmary. Can you walk, or shall I levitate you?" Rae touched the knot forming on Virohsa's forehead and frowned severly at it. She glanced at the Dark Magic detector on her desk and made a small noise of disbelief.

Professor Virohsa was still frowning as thoughts scattered. What had she been doing?, Did the Headmistress perform a spell on her?, and thoughts alike bombarded her mind as she tried to remember. Last thing she remembered was walking aimlessly in Hogsmeade some time earlier and something she saw in the darkness. Yet, it was all too fuzzy.

Deciding that it was best to spend some time alone from the Headmistress until she realized what had happened the last half an hour, she nodded. Virohsa decided that hiding her lack of knowledge was her best card to play so far. Just in case hiding her discomfort may save her life, she stopped frowning and glanced at the Headmistress.

"I'm well enough. I shall report to the infirmatory just to make sure everything is allright", she said with a tone of assurance as she quickly surveyed the room, as if trying to remember what had hit her. "We can continue our conversation at a later point", she added as she steadied herself. After all, why else would she had been at the Headmistress' office but to have a conversation? With a short nod, just to make sure the Headmistress felt assured.

"May I be excused?", she asked softly. After all, Virohsa knew it was the polite thing to do. Of course, Virohsa had no way of knowing that this politeness was completely contrary to her demeanor when she had first stepped into the Headmistress' office and demanded an audience.

"I'd be happy to assist you, my dear, but if you're sure... I'd like to try to figure out what attacked us. If you see any other professors in the corridors, perhaps you could have them gauge the damage around the school and report to me again," she helped Virohsa to her feet and left her at the door. Wandering towards her desk, Rae was clearly distracted by something she saw there.

Kay sat down on one of the chairs and waited for Rae. She nervously wrung her hands as she tried to make sense over the strange dream she had because it seemed so real.
