Rae entered the classroom and admired how clean and sparkling the room appeared. The house elves seemed to have taken very good care of the classroom, and it needed little preparation for the day's class. Rae opened the windows to let in some of the crisp fall air before settling at her desk to wait for the students.

"Good... I'm glad we can recognize that there are always gray areas. Some spells are categorized as 'Dark' that can often be used in self defense, while there are some extreme hexes or curses that can be very dangerous if used in the wrong way. I do want to caution, however, that there are some Dark Curses that can never be used with any intent aside from harm. You wouldn't be able to argue that you had any desire other than to hurt or kill with them. Any idea what these curses are?"

"Yes, the Unforgivable Curses are three curses that can only be performed with harmful intent. You can't simply be trying to defend yourself to muster up the sort of hate and desire to harm necessary to use these three spells. Five for Ravenclaw. So we've listed the three major Dark curses that we discuss in this class. One of our largest areas of study, however, involves defensive spells. There are loads of these, so let's play a little game. I'll give a description of a spell, and you can tell me which spell it is. These are worth 5 points each."

She waited until everyone was ready before she glanced at her parchment. "Which spell is the most common shielding spell?"
