Serena raised her hand. "Furnunculus?" |
Stacey raised her hand once more, "Furnunculus." |
Audrey raised her hand. "Furnunculus, Professor?" |
Nicole raised her hand, and said, "Furnunculus" |
Jordana raised her hand and said, "I think its Furnunculus, Professor" |
Jamie raised his hand. "Is it Furnunculus?" |
Jewil raised her hand, but noticing that she was a few miniuts to late she just wrote down furnuculus on her paper and worte down what it did beside it. |
The boy's nose and mouth scrunched up slightly as a handful of others answered before him. His cheeks flushed a light pink though, to see that he had indeed been correct. He scribbled this down with the rest of his notes, keeping this particular one in mind. He honestly hadn't ever heard of that one and had to flip through his spell book to even find it. He glanced over at Blossom and gave her a weak smile, more for his own encouragement. |
Alicia wrote down Furnunculus and looked around at all the students, she spotted Nicole and waved silently, a little. |
"Good again, Evy... the answer is Furnunculus. You lot know your defensive spells. Five more for Hufflepuff, and the last spell..." She stared at her paper before tossing it into the rubbish bin. "This spell distracts the attacker by making them laugh." |
"Furnunculus?" Shane's hand shot up. |
Evy raised her hand. "Rictumsempra." |
"Rictusempra," said Jamie eagerly with his hand in the air. |
Alicia shot her hand up immediately "Rictumsempra!!" |
Jordana raised her hand and said, "Is it Rictusempra?" |
"Rictumsempra" Nicole said. |
"Rictus Sempra!" Shane still had his hand up, as he hadn't bothered to put it down. |
Brianna copied all of the spells and their meanings down onto the parchment in front of her. |
Jewil felling sligtly alarmend that she was slower at remebering the spells then everyone else wrote down Rictusempra. She was hoping that she could get some extra points for gryfffindor but at least she was in class trying. She waited for the prof to tell the class what was next. |
"Rictumsempra" said Kalaria. |
Rae laughed. "I certainly thought I'd fool you with that one, but I was wrong. Evy, you're remarkably quick on your feet today. Five more for Hufflepuff, and I think we're done with that game. The last area to discuss is that of Dark Creatures. Tell me, what distinguishes a Dark Creature from one that is not Dark?" |
"I'm not really sure. Well, the way it acts, I suppose. Whether it hurts people or not. Though, some creatures may hurt you, but that doesn't mean they're dark. I don't know." Nicole said, puzzled by the question. |

Brianna raised her hand and said " Dark Creatures often do not have a complete life cycle but exist simply as a physical extension of an evil intention." |
Jamie raised his hand once more. "They often do not have a complete lifestyle, as a usual animal would. They tend just to exist, usually for evil purpose. They seek to harm, where typicl animals do not. Their aim is to maim and to hurt, activly seeking this. They're magical in nature, and not even true animals. They're a form of another magical being. If you read Fantastic Beasts its been referred to them as demons." |
Christina raised her hand, "They are magical in nature. They often do not have a complete life cycle the way a typical animal would but exist simply as a physical extension of an evil intention. They seek actively to harm, often for no other reason than that's what they do." |
After raising his hand, Sean said, "Could it be their intentions or just whether they mean to do harm or not." |
Brianna then replied " They are magical in nature." |

Jordana raised her hand, "Is it that they are not naturally bred. There is some sort of magic involved with their breeding." she was sure she was wrong, but decided to give it a try. |
Jewil looked around felling acward for not knowing the answer. She thought hard about what she read in the book the otherd day, but she just couldent reamber. I gusse it would be in the eyes, but that cant be the answer. She was allways told that the more the eyes grew plainer the worst the person was, but did that apply here. She hit her head with her hand telling herself to think, but when nothing came she wrote down what the others where saying. Thinking the whole time how much she wished she was smart enofe to remeber such small things about big subjects. |
Then, Nicole said. "It's like a dark wizard. It all depends on their intentions. For example, some people would declare a werewolf dark, and others not. But, for some creatures, all of them are dark. I don't know anything to go by, because I can't think of one thing that fits all dark creatures." |
Kalaria raised her hand, "Dark creatures are creatures that fight along side the Dark One, that see pain and suffering as enjoyment, that mean to kill and hurt. As opposed to those who only kill to perhaps survive." |
"I believe Dark Creatures don't attack to sustain themselves, they attack to harm" Siriana said |
"A werewolf is a type of dark version of a normal wolf..." Shane stated, "...and a Basilisk is made magically, for it's deadly stare, so they would be my answer in example form." |
Ariana wrote down everything she heeard the professor say, concentrating hard on the professors words. She was feeling like a fool, it seemed as if she didn;t know anything which she didn't. It was hard to learn though, no one was helping her outside of class and the teachers all seemed to hate her. She sighed and continued to write things down. |
"I like that definition, Stacy. Five for Hufflepuff. So we all are in agreement that it isn't just that they hurt people, but that they actively seek to hurt, not to survive or feed, but because they are created for that purpose." She paused. "I did say created. Dark creatures don't have a normal life cycle, as you've heard. They are created and exist to harm. So... is a dragon a Dark creature?" |
"Red caps would also be a good example," Sean said. "They attack for fun. They do not attack for food or so they can live, just so they can keep their coats their red color." |
Brianna raised her hand and said " no ". |
jewil decided to say somthing, "i belive that a dark Creatures will attack on impulse, but that the wizarding world belives that one speaceas is evil while another is not instead of a mixture as us humans are. The dark Creatures have a way of hidding from humans or attaicking when they come in, unlike nondark aniams wich dont mind you most of the time. I allso belive that Dark Creatures have a destigues look in there eyes that you can see in them if you look close enofe." Filling as if she answerd alittle late she sat in silence looking at her hands |
"No, a dragon is not a dark creature, " said Sean, "They can be breeded to be dark, but are not born that way." |
Alicia raised her hand "No, I dont think dragons are dark creatures" she said. |
Jewil thought about the dragons. "I dont belive that dragons are evil, but by your deffination they are evil." |
"No, I don't think they are. They're very dangerous, but that doesn't mean they're dark. It's just because they aren't trained. And, I don't think they're created." Nicole said, hoping her answer was right. |
"No. Dragons are not created by wizards." Shane stated, loudly at first, but he quietened down, to not sound offensive. |
Sean raised his hand and said again, " Most dragons are misunderstood creatures. They've been given a bad reputation, mostly by muggles. Yes, they can breathe fire. But they will only harm you if you harm them." |

Stacey gave a smile knowing that she did something right in class today. She then began to think about the next question. "No I don't believe so," she started and then continued. "They are dangerous but they do not attack for fun. They attack for protection of their territory." |
"But what about Blast-ended Skrewts?" Shane asked. |
"Thta means werewolves are dark creatures in wolf form, and normal in human" Alicia said proudly. |
"Exactly... a dragon is not a dark creature. It is indeed dangerous, but that is a means to protect itself and to get food. It doesn't do it maliciously, and many dragons can be tamed to a degree. No dark creature can be tamed. Period. Let's see..." She glanced at the clock. "We've covered a lot of material today. I can end class now, and we can continue next time with duelling basics. Everyone in agreement?" |
"Okay," Nicole said, and slowly put away her stuff. |
Jewil thought about the qustion going on. Even if she was a tad bit late she stated," Dragons are evil by the deffination, but they could allso not be evil. Dragons are terortoral. If you invade there space they atack so there only attacking on inpuls and not for the fun of it." |
"Yes." Alex said as she nodded and gathered her books. She was glad she got points and she had fun. |
Blossom raised her hand. "Professor, dragons are not dark creatures. They are categorized as highly dangerous and impossible to be trained but that is their nature. They do not possess the same ability do distinguish from right to wrong as humans do they only mean to protect their habitat and themselves if a wizard approaches. They are wild creatures not dark." Blossom spoke her theory and beliefs about dragons. |
Sean nodded his head and then asked, "Is there any homework?" |
Jordana wrote in her notes the last few things that were said. When the Professor said that class was done, and that they would cover Dueling basics next lesson, she smiled and nodded her head in agreement with the Professor. |
Alicia nodded "yes" she said. Alicia finished off writing the notes and started packing her belongings. She wrote down her homework and finished packing, then stood up and leftr. |
Shane nodded, but was dissappointed that he hadn't found out about Blast-ended Skrewts. |
Jessica finished up her notes and packed her bag. Before walking out the door, she turned to the professor. "Will there be a homework assignment?" |
Quote:
"And yes... there is homework. I want a list of 10 questions about Defense you want answered and 10 spells or topics you want covered. I'd like to see what your knowledge level is as we get started. It is worth 20 points, and it's due August 12th by midnight EST. Class dismissed." |
Jordana wrote down the assignment on her parchment. She folded it neatly and placed it in her book. She gathered her things, placed them in her bag, and walked out of class. |
Sean wrote down the homework. The packed up his things and left. |
Christina finished copying her notes, then she copied down her homework assignment. She then got her things and left out the classroom, when she got to the door she said "Bye Professor." |
Kalaria was a little sad the class was ending but she nodded her head at what the teacher said. It wasn't likely one student saying she was not in agreement would make much a difference. Slowly she packed away her things, carefully folding the ink filled parchment. She felt the lesson had been very productive. |
Niky wrote down the homeworkd and put her things in her bag. She hurried out after Jordana, heading for the library with her. |
Prancie wrote down the homework, packed up her stuff, and headed for Hogsmade. |
Stacey wrote down her homework and gathered her things. She was ready to work on her homework as soon as possible because she knew that she had questions concerning DADA. She stood up from her seat, pushed in her chair and walked out the door. |
Siriana wrote down everything that was said by the Professor and her classmates. Sheh nodded at the Professor and was excited about the next class. She also wrote down the homework assignment. When she was done, she picked up her things, said goodbye at the Professor and walked out of class. |
Jessica jotted down the homework assignment and rushed out the door to get started. |
OOC: Please read the instructions in my rules thread. DO NOT PM HOMEWORK TO ME! "If you have questions, I'll remain after class for a few minutes." |
Copying down the homework, Kalaria put the parchment in her bag and slung it across her shoulder. "Bye Professor, thank you for the lesson," she smiled. |
"Umm. Professor." Alex said as she walked up to her. "ABout what I saw you about last week. Professor H. Craft told me to keep a dream diary for a week and see what happens, but nothing changed." SHe said as she sighed. |
"We're not expecting it to go away... we're expecting to gauge the level of talent and see what forms it takes. When are you to report back to her again?" |
Nate copied down the homework assignment and turned to his twin sister. "That was interesting! Especially about the werewolfs-" |
"I guess I should go tonight." Alex informed her. "But, what if its just a phase. And if not what gonna happen to me. Will I be in danger?" Alex asked a little scared. She knew of the threat of Voldemortist and knew he needed all the talent he could get. |

Katie looked up from her notebook. "Oh my gosh! Nate where's Kris?" |

Kay copied the homework down, packed up her things, and exited the classroom quietly. |
Brooke looked back down at her paper and finished writing down all of her notes. Feeling like she had learned a lot she wrote down the homework actually thinking that she was capable of doing this work. She stuffed her books and notes into her bag and pulled the strap over her shoulder. "Good bye professor." Brooke said with a wave. |
Tia gathered her scattered belongings, stuffed her notes in her bag and pocketed her wand, before quickly jotting down the homework the Professor had assigned the class. She screwed the lid of the inkpot back in place and hastily threw her quills in her pocket. Strapping her bag over one shoulder, she got up and made her way out of the class, stopping where the Professor stood. "Thanks for the great class, Professor," she said politely, before slowly exiting the classroom. OOC: Why did I have to come when the class was over? *headdesk* :head: |
Jenni copied down the homework and packed away quietly. |
katie copied the notes down and sat there patiently |
Adam sat in the class and copied the notes down in fast writing that was tall and narrow. This class always interested him greatly. |
Beck heaved a sigh of relief at having made it through anothother class, made sure that she had written down the homework instructions, packed her belongings away, made sure that Chant was still in her pocket and left the room. |
eliza copied down the homework and exited "brilliant class professor!" |
Cassandra finished writing down the homework and quietly walked out of the classroom. |
Moira listened without ever raising her hand. She was new here and it was here first class. She was not normally this shy but she wanted to see how different the Profeesors would be from the ones that taught her at The Salem Witches Institue. She gathered her notes to her and placed them neatly in a folder then into her bag. She wrote down the home work assignment careful to write down everything. She dusted her ink with a powder to help it dry and then she put the excess powder back into the vial . Then she blew off her paper before she placed it into her homework folder. She exited the classroom a little smarter than when she entered it. She headed off to the library to begin her homework. |
Serilda wrote down more notes, copied the homework and then left the classroom. |
Adam copied down the homework quickly and finished qith a flourish on the parchment and put the notes in to his bag and headed off towards the common room to think. |
Jackie, who had been quietly sitting in the corner, grabbed her things after writing down the homework and hurried to Ancient Runes. |
saeda coppied her homework down, and walked out of the classroom. |
Air walked out of the DADA classroom. "Wow I wonder what my next class will be like.", she said. |
