"Umm," Nicole said, "Isn't one Fenrir Greyback," she said, remembering reading about him once.

x*[.BooM.]*x 08-06-2006 07:47 PM

Kalaria raised her hand,
"Lucius Malfoy," she said, "and all death eaters," she said feeling quite uncomfortable.

Mrs.Lupin 08-06-2006 07:47 PM

Kris raised her hand and said, "Greyback."

miss weasley 08-06-2006 07:48 PM

"er...i heard about a peter pettigrew and a lucuis malfoy." eliza remembered.

x*[.BooM.]*x 08-06-2006 07:50 PM

Kalaria added to her answer as other names popped into her head,
"And Barty Crouch Jr," she said.

Graham5980 08-06-2006 07:51 PM

Shane slapped his forehead. "Malfoy!" he mumbled to himself, slightly louder than he meant to.

Siriana Red 08-06-2006 07:51 PM

Siriana raised her hand "Antonin Dolohov I think" she said not sure about her answer.

DanielHott_HesMine 08-06-2006 07:52 PM

"There was also, Crabbe, Goyle and Macnair!" she added as she raised her hand.

Graham5980 08-06-2006 07:54 PM

"Draco Malfoy, to be more precise." Shane corrected himself, as he raised his hand.

GreenDayGirl9293 08-06-2006 07:54 PM

"And, aren't there Nott, and Rosier, and Mulciber." Nicole said.

halfbloodprincess92 08-06-2006 07:56 PM

Rose nodded in agreement to most of the students' answers. She raised her hand. "Avery."

Putting her hand down, Rose started making a list of Dark Wizards.

Cassirin 08-06-2006 07:56 PM

"I hear names of many Dark Wizards, but the greatest of those Wizards is of course Grindelwald," she nodded at Ariana. "Five for Ravenclaw. He was defeated in 1945 by Albus Dumbledore, who was one of the greatest crusaders against the Dark that our world has ever seen. So... we've named a few Dark Wizards. What makes a Wizard Dark? Let's create a definition together."

miss weasley 08-06-2006 07:56 PM

"and a nott!"she turned to shane"i wouldn't say draco," she whispered "narcissa malfoy and regulas black!"

Evy 08-06-2006 07:58 PM

Evy raised her hand. "A wizard with bad intentions who uses his power to hurt others."

Rave raised her hand, "A wizard who uses Dark Magic against other wizards for they're own gain."

LovelyLunaLovegood 08-06-2006 07:59 PM

Brianna raised her hand and said " Dosen't a dark wizard have to cause pain and suffering?"

Golden Monkey 08-06-2006 08:00 PM

Ariana smiled as she got the points for her house. She thought for a minute, then raised her hand and said shyly, "Someone who has no love in them, or can't show love and thereofre only show hatred towards others?"

"Well in Voldemorts time, he and his followers had tried to rid the wizarding world of muggle borns, or wizards and witches who were of half muggle blood and half magical blood. So a dark wizard could be defined as one who is against muggle borns?" she replied, raising her hand and taking notes.

futuremrsmalfoy 08-06-2006 08:00 PM

Kally raised her hadn and said. "most dark wizards enjoy causign people pain, and they are usually against a certain group, like muggel born, or half bloods."

miss weasley 08-06-2006 08:01 PM

eliza waved her hand "their follows, their power, making people fear them." she listed.

Brittany Weasly 08-06-2006 08:01 PM

" a wizard that doesn't care if he harms people he just wants power." Brittany replied

Graham5980 08-06-2006 08:01 PM

"Voldemort tried to become immortal, but didn't know that it wasn't good for him." Shane rambled what his mum had indoctrinated him with.

argentinaz_angel 08-06-2006 08:01 PM

Niky raised her hand once more, she wanted to get Hufflepuff as many points as she could. "How about; The desire for something, but instead of working for it, take shortcuts and hurt people to get where they want to be."

GreenDayGirl9293 08-06-2006 08:02 PM

Nicole raised her hand, and said, "A dark wizard is someone who uses their magical abilities for bad things. They take advantage of magic. They hurt others, either physically or mentally, in order for themselves to gain, whether it's power or riches or revenge."

ginnymel 08-06-2006 08:03 PM

Corabelle listened as others spouted off answers, writing down the correct ones as Professor Rae pointed them out. "Wouldn't that be thier intent Professor? The intent of a wizard or witch is what makes them dark or evil." she says, tapping her chin in thought.

Siriana Red 08-06-2006 08:04 PM

She raised her hand trying to answer the next question "A Dark Wizard is one that uses magic with the intention to harm others"

Mrs.Lupin 08-06-2006 08:08 PM

Kris raised her hand again, "Dark wizards only want power, they are greedy and they care for nothing but power." Atleast thats what her father told her.

halfbloodprincess92 08-06-2006 08:08 PM

Rose raised her hand, "A Dark Wizard is a Wizard thats dark."

She agreed with everyone else's answers, but she figured she's just state the obvious.

miss weasley 08-06-2006 08:10 PM

"they don't care who they kill or how many people they kill!" eliza said

Graham5980 08-06-2006 08:12 PM

"On a lighter note..." Shane scratched his chin, trying to figure out how he was going to word this question. "...since all the names I've heard are known Slytherins..." He turned to the Professor and asked, "Have any dark wizards come out of the other houses?"

Evy 08-06-2006 08:12 PM

Evy raised her hand again. "They are morally wrong, they take selfish decisions, they are greedy and ambitious, they think they are superiors to others and - let's state the obvious - they studied the Dark Arts."

Cassirin 08-06-2006 08:14 PM

"I hear a lot of ideas... some more right than others," Rae grinned. "Let's come to a common understanding. A Dark wizard or witch is one who obviously makes use of Dark spells and objects, but more so... a Dark wizard or witch is someone who pursues power, wealth, or any other goal with no regard to the morality, legality, or rightness of their actions. He or she cares only for the attainment of their goal... and they're willing to use harmful means to get what they want. Voldemort did kill Muggles and Muggle-borns, but that wasn't his primary goal. His goal was power and immortality, and he sought it through murder, destruction, mayhem, and manipulation. That begs the question... is anyone who uses a Dark spell a Dark wizard?"

Davvy_Wavvy 08-06-2006 08:15 PM

Davina wrote down what professor Rae had said on her parchment and continued to listen.

LovelyLunaLovegood 08-06-2006 08:16 PM

Brianna thought for a second, raised her hand and replied " No, it depends on why the dark spell is used."

Siriana Red 08-06-2006 08:17 PM

"I think it's actually the intention that makes the difference here, the intention of the Dark wizard is to harm the other" Siriana said after raising her hand

Prancie thought, "Not really; they could just not know what they are doing, or their emotions might have run away with them. The spell doesn't dictate the intent."

Evy 08-06-2006 08:17 PM

Evy raised her hand. "No. If you had good intentions when using the spell, you are not necessarily a dark wizard."

futuremrsmalfoy 08-06-2006 08:17 PM

"no not everyone who uses a dark spell is a dark wizard it all depends on the reason for the spell" kally said raising her hand.

argentinaz_angel 08-06-2006 08:18 PM

Niky raised her hand and answered; "Not really, sometimes a person uses Dark Spells for protection from someone else shooting Dark spells. It all depends on the situation, and exactly what spell was used"

allucha 08-06-2006 08:18 PM

Ali raised his hand. "Not exactly, because some might use the spell for good reasons, or they might not even know that the spell is a dark one."

"Not nessearily professor. THere are times when it's nessesary to use a DArk spell to protect yourself. It doesn't mean you have to be a Dark Wizard, but you need to have dark thoughts to fully make the spell work propetly. If you don't have hateful thoughts the spell won't be powerful." Ariana said, thinking this sounded a bit right.

Stacey raised her hand at Professor Rea's question. "Not necessarily. Auror's are taught the dark spells." She placed her hand down, not knowing if she was correct or not.

GreenDayGirl9293 08-06-2006 08:20 PM

"No," Nicole said. "First of all, it depends on the spell, and second of all, some people might use them for defense. I believe that a Dark Wizard is someone who repeatedly does dark magic, and does it only for himself. Not for protection or something like that." Nicole was happy with that.

baybgal6735 08-06-2006 08:20 PM

"No. They are not." Alex said as she raised her hand. "Because Darks Arts are very powerful, they can be used in defense."

Audrey raised her hand.

"I don't think so, Professor. If someone were to attack you repeatedly using a dark spell, I think that it would be okay to retaliate and use it in self defense. If their intent is to kill you, you should do anything to stop them from killing you--and others. However, I don't think that it's right to use them often, whenever someone performs a simple hex on you...only when it's the only, final option and you have tried everything else."

Brittany Weasly 08-06-2006 08:21 PM

Brittany replied "no some one might be defending themselves and need to use it or and Auror might have to use it to catch a dark wizard."

miss weasley 08-06-2006 08:24 PM

eliza added to her last answer"and why they used the spell!"

Graham5980 08-06-2006 08:25 PM

"And if a Dark Wizard uses a good spell..." Shane piped up, "...does that make it a dark spell?"

Cassirin 08-06-2006 08:25 PM

"Good... I'm glad we can recognize that there are always gray areas. Some spells are categorized as 'Dark' that can often be used in self defense, while there are some extreme hexes or curses that can be very dangerous if used in the wrong way. I do want to caution, however, that there are some Dark Curses that can never be used with any intent aside from harm. You wouldn't be able to argue that you had any desire other than to hurt or kill with them. Any idea what these curses are?"

DanielHott_HesMine 08-06-2006 08:27 PM

Jessica quickly wrote down notes on what makes a dark wizard. she rose her hand. "The unforgivable curses, Professor"

LovelyLunaLovegood 08-06-2006 08:29 PM

Brianna raised her hand and said " the unforgivable curses"

Golden Monkey 08-06-2006 08:29 PM

Ariana didn't vother to answer this one, seeing as how there were already many students who had their hands up already. She wrote everything down, and continued to listen to the professor.

OOC: I'm sorry, but the site's really slow for me, it's hard to keep up.

argentinaz_angel 08-06-2006 08:29 PM

Niky raised her hand once more. "Would those be the three Unforgivable curses?"

LovelyLunaLovegood 08-06-2006 08:30 PM

Brianna then added " One is the killing curse "

halfbloodprincess92 08-06-2006 08:30 PM

Rose gulped and raised her hand. "The Unforgiveable Curses."

LovelyLunaLovegood 08-06-2006 08:32 PM

Brianna then added " the cruciatus curse "

Graham5980 08-06-2006 08:33 PM

"As for dark spells being used in defence..." Shane started, "...my father survived an attack by using 'Sectum Sempra' against a Death-Eater, but he was protecting mum and me."

Cassirin 08-06-2006 08:37 PM

"Yes, the Unforgivable Curses are three curses that can only be performed with harmful intent. You can't simply be trying to defend yourself to muster up the sort of hate and desire to harm necessary to use these three spells. Five for Ravenclaw. So we've listed the three major Dark curses that we discuss in this class. One of our largest areas of study, however, involves defensive spells. There are loads of these, so let's play a little game. I'll give a description of a spell, and you can tell me which spell it is. These are worth 5 points each."

She waited until everyone was ready before she glanced at her parchment. "Which spell is the most common shielding spell?"

Evy 08-06-2006 08:39 PM

Evy raised her hand. "Protego".

Golden Monkey 08-06-2006 08:40 PM

Ariana raised her hand "Um, isn't that the Protego spell?" She asked.

miss weasley 08-06-2006 08:41 PM

"protego!"

HP_Fan_09 08-06-2006 08:44 PM

Jewil thought to her self the protego, but sence everyone else had said it allready she just looked around to see if there where any other answers coming.

Cassirin 08-06-2006 08:45 PM

"Excellent... five for Hufflepuff, Evy. The spell is Protego. Now, what spell causes ropes to spring from the wand and tie around the attacker?'

i m a potter fool ^_^ 08-06-2006 08:45 PM

Prancie raised her hand politely, "Incarcerus!"

Graham5980 08-06-2006 08:46 PM

Shane listened to everyone answer 'Protego', and wrote it down. "How d'you spell that?" He'd never even heard of it.

Evy 08-06-2006 08:46 PM

Evy shot her hand in the air. "Incarcerous".

WhizzyBubbles 08-06-2006 08:47 PM

Alicia carefully, and quickly wrote down the important notes and figures. Alicia thought of raising her hand, and saying protego but most of the class had already done so. She quickly scribbled down Incarceus under the shield spells.

roonilwazlib 08-06-2006 08:48 PM

Sean raised his hand and said, "Incarcerous"

Granger1814 08-06-2006 08:48 PM

Serena raised her hand. "Incarcerous?"

Siriana Red 08-06-2006 08:48 PM

"incarcerous i think" Siriana said raising her hand

Golden Monkey 08-06-2006 08:49 PM

Ariana gave up. everytime she went to answer a question, it was aready answered. She would just sit back and listen from now on. It didn't matter anyway, as long as she actually learned something. She was getting very annoyed.

HP_Fan_09 08-06-2006 08:50 PM

Jewil wrote down incarcerous. She dident know that one but at least she did now.

argentinaz_angel 08-06-2006 08:50 PM

Niky raised her hand almost immediatly. "Incarcerous"

WhizzyBubbles 08-06-2006 08:51 PM

Alicia raised her hand, "Incarceus!!" she said, though it was useless, since it had already been answered.

Cassirin 08-06-2006 08:52 PM

"Yes, Incarcerous is one of my favorite spells," Rae grinned. "Five for Gryffindor. What spell disarms your opponent?"

roonilwazlib 08-06-2006 08:53 PM

Sean raised his hand and said, "Expelliarmus."

Starbreeze 08-06-2006 08:54 PM

Blossom raised her hand "Expelliarmus."

Evy 08-06-2006 08:54 PM

Evy raised her hand. "Expelliarmus".

BrightestWitch 08-06-2006 08:54 PM

Jordana raised her hand and said, "Is it Expeliarmus, Professor?"

Golden Monkey 08-06-2006 08:54 PM

"Expelliarmious (sp?)" Ariana said, her hand hooting up ionto the air. 'So much for staying quiet 'she though.

futuremrsmalfoy 08-06-2006 08:54 PM

"expelerarmious" kally tried.

LadyNerd 08-06-2006 08:54 PM

"Experlliarmus," Stacey said as she raised her hand.

GreenDayGirl9293 08-06-2006 08:54 PM

"Expeliarmus," Nicole said, trying to be the first one this time.

HP_Fan_09 08-06-2006 08:55 PM

Jewil thought it over in her head. It was on the tip of her toung. Somthing like extarmas but that wasent it. She closed her eyes and pried her brain for the answer, but she gave up and lisend to everyone else answer the qustion.

miss weasley 08-06-2006 08:56 PM

eliza wrote down the answers, circling incarcerous.

baybgal6735 08-06-2006 08:57 PM

"Expelliamus." Alex said as she raised her hand.

Cassirin 08-06-2006 09:01 PM

ooc: Remember that spelling always counts for me. :)

"Expelliarmus. Nice work... five more for Ravenclaw. Let's do two more, and then we'll move on." She studied the paper on her desk. "This one is a bit harder. This spell causes boils to break out on the attacker."

WhizzyBubbles 08-06-2006 09:02 PM

Alicia thought carefully, nothing came to her mind, she sighed and continued writing notes.

Evy 08-06-2006 09:03 PM

Evy raised her hand. "Furnunculus".
