"She gave him a band from her heart of a kiss, professor"

Nabs 07-29-2006 08:31 PM

Nik flipped lazily through the book til he reached the page that was titled "The Frog Prince". He remembered the tale and smirked to himself, recalling the idiot princess.

OOC: blah timing..

Floo14 07-29-2006 08:31 PM

Nick raises his hand. "With a kiss, I think. I heard many versions of this story."

Seeker_Seven 07-29-2006 08:32 PM

Tag sank down in his chair, attempting to become invisible. He had a feeling that if Professor Mao-Macdougal had an aversion to public displays of idiocy, he may have blown it already.

BrightestWitch 07-29-2006 08:32 PM

Jordana raised her hand and said, "Professor didn't the Princess kiss the frog, and that is what broke the spell." not sure if that was right Jordana waited for her response.

gumdrop480 07-29-2006 08:32 PM

Kalaya couldn't help but glance at Jordana when it was announced they'd lost points, although they quickly earned them back. As she heard the professor's directions she quickly pulled her book closer to her and flipped through the pages until she found the story. She knew the story well enough and wondered where the professor was going with this. As the professor continued she raised her hand. "The princess kisses the frog to break the charm," she answered.

potterbaby 07-29-2006 08:32 PM

Tasha raised her hand. " With a Kiss?" She answered the professor nervously.

Maxilocks 07-29-2006 08:34 PM

Tia raised her hand. "She kissed him, of course, isn't that how every muggle fairy-tale ends?" She said carelessly, trying not to smirk. her hand swaying in the air. Inwardly, she grinned. How romantic could you get?

wild_prairie_gal 07-29-2006 08:35 PM

Sophia raised her hand and said, "With loves first kiss?"

Rose flipped through the book 'til she reached the instructed story. She raised her hand, "She kisses him." Rose shrugged a jotted down a few notes regarding fairytales.

Kally raised her hand quickly and said "she kisses the frog..professor"
Quote:

Fred pulled his hand into the air and says"It kisses it."

"Incorrect," snapped Andi smugly. "A pity none of you actually bothered to read - or it is because you think fairy tales are just too babyish for the likes of you, hm?" Her eyes sparkled with glee as she continued her lesson, "The Grimm fairytales were not originally intended to be stories for children, they were an attempt by Wilhelm and Jakob Grimm to retain Germanic culture. But when the stories proved popular, the Grimms were forced to take out many of the more violent or sexual connotations in the story, which is why I specifically demanded the lot of you buy the unexpurgated copy. In actuality, the princess broke the charm simply by throwing the creature at the wall, whereupon, it burst. And that's gentle compared to the Polish version where the animal is a snake and had it's head cut off."

Brittany Weasly 07-29-2006 08:36 PM

Brittany raised her hand "she kissed him to show how much she loved h

Starbreeze 07-29-2006 08:38 PM

Blossom raised her hand "There are different versions in some the frog's spell is broken when the princess throws it against a wall in disgust. In others the frog had to spend the night on the princess's pillow but the most popular one is the kiss."

Seeker_Seven 07-29-2006 08:38 PM

Tag flinched at the descriptions of animal violence. Who in their right mind would throw a poor frog against a wall, he shuddered, thinking of his own frogs at home.

futuremrsmalfoy 07-29-2006 08:39 PM

"oh.."kally said putting her hand down.

BrightestWitch 07-29-2006 08:39 PM

Jordana wrote down what was said and thought to herself, Of course why didn't i think of that. I would have done the same. Annoying little frog.

halfbloodprincess92 07-29-2006 08:40 PM

Rose shrugged off the Professor's first comment and shivered when she heard the bit about throwing the frog against the wall. How cruel they were to precious creatures! She twiddled her thumbs and waited for the professor to give out some useful information.

Nightingale 07-29-2006 08:40 PM

Kay sat in silence. She had not expected that to be the correct answer. She was sitting intently and taking notes furiously on everything the teacher said.

Meandering 07-29-2006 08:41 PM

Andi continued, morbidly happy, "In the Scottish and Gaelic version, the animal was also beheaded. In some stories, she tore it in two - in lavish detail, mind. A tamer Lithuanian text required the skin of the snake to be burnt. This is one of the first examples of wandless magic - the breaking of charms, that we have."

Brittany Weasly 07-29-2006 08:41 PM

Brittany saw that her answere was wrong so she juat sat quietly waiting for what the professor was going to say next.

potterbaby 07-29-2006 08:42 PM

"Better to throw it than kiss it. How nasty." Tasha spoke before thinking, as usual.

Maxilocks 07-29-2006 08:42 PM

"Excuse me, Professor," Tia said, raising an eyebrow and forcing herself not to snigger. "There are several versions of the story. We were merely narrating what took place in one of the versions," she pointed out. "You really ought to have mentioned what version you were relating to," she added, shrugging, fully aware that she was in for a loss of more hosue points. But this time, she hadn't actually meant to annoy the Professor - It was something she really had wanted to point out, so she hadn't hesitated to.

Brittany Weasly 07-29-2006 08:43 PM

Brittany's mouth drop when she saw how excited the professor was when she told the class about the wandless spell. Brittany thought "How could they do that to the poor animal.'

becca.123 07-29-2006 08:45 PM

"Do you think she meant it intentionally though, if she had to say beforehand that she loved the frog prince and then she had only did it in a moment of anger, Professor, but what was anger caused by, you might think"

LadyNerd 07-29-2006 08:45 PM

Stacey listened to the Professor speak of the violent ways of the princess to the frog and gave a crooked smile at the after effect of the story. She raised her hand to her mouth and gave a silent giggle towards the story. She was rather relieved of the non-mushy parts the episode contained and continued listening further to the teachings.

Floo14 07-29-2006 08:45 PM

Nick listened, not saying a word until a question he knew was asked.

Professor Mao-Macdougal is taking a little too much pleasure in her dismemberment stories, Tag though. He shuffled his papers, trying to cover up the muffled squeaks coming from his bag. Tag didn't want Randy the rat to end up turning in to an object lesson.

"You are excused for your supreme ignorance, Ms Roy," said Andi calmly as she twiddled her wand. "I requested you buy the unexpurgated version, and I made sure that the books Flourish and Blotts ordered were correct in their detail. The German version merely had the poor frog tossed against the wall. Did I request you tell me the Gaelic, or Polish version? No, I did not, I was merely adding detail. Five points off Gryffindor for incompetence."

Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, Andi reached behind her desk and pulled out a variety of objects, small china ornaments, a few golden balls and various other breakables.

Spork! 07-29-2006 08:47 PM

"Thank you for the explanation proffeser."said Amanda quietly, taking notes.

futuremrsmalfoy 07-29-2006 08:48 PM

Kally sat taking as many notes as she could, in such a small amount of class time.

Nightingale 07-29-2006 08:48 PM

Kay noticed the professor taking things out of her desk, so she looked up from her notes to pay closer attention.

Brittany Weasly 07-29-2006 08:49 PM

"10 points from Gryffindor already" Brittany thought to herself . "well this might not be my favorite class." and Brittany then continued to liseten to the professor.

Blackened 07-29-2006 08:49 PM

Evan listened to the teacher's account of the tale versions, genuinely interested. The class sure was animated, and he was pleased to see that his housemates were doing a great job at answering the professor's questions. His head had not stopped throbbing, however, and he started to wish they were discussing something else rather than beheading and the likes. As a Gryffindor girl made a rather snappy retort, Evan eyed the teacher curiously, wondering as to the outcome of the lesson. The way things were going, many house points were yet to be awarded/abducted.

Floo14 07-29-2006 08:49 PM

Nick raised his hand. "Professor. Thank-you for telling us another version of that story.I never heard that version before."

Maxilocks 07-29-2006 08:50 PM

Thinking to play it a bit safer from now on, Tia whipped out a journal and dipped her quill in ink. Pressing it to the surface of a yellowish parchment, she began to jot down what the Professor was saying, thoroughly amused at the look of glee on the Professor's face.

potterbaby 07-29-2006 08:50 PM

"Professor, did they do violent things to humans as well? You know, to break spells and charms put on them?" Tasha was very curious.

magical girl 07-29-2006 08:50 PM

saeda waited for what the
proffesor was going to bring out.

GreenDayGirl9293 07-29-2006 08:50 PM

Nicole looked up, disappointed. Tia kept losing points for Gryffindor. 15 points already!!! But, then she went back to taking notes, so she wouldn't forget anything.

Thump0427 07-29-2006 08:51 PM

Noticing the strictness of the Professor Thump continued to take notes on what she was saying, neglecting to answer any questions unless he was sure of the answer.

A good question. Andi nodded in acknowledgement at the girl. "Yes, of course there were, but many times, or at least in the accounts that we have, the human was charmed into a different form, an animal or a monster like in Beauty and the Beast, the Seven Ravens and so on and so forth."

BrightestWitch 07-29-2006 08:52 PM

Jordana watched the Professor and so far she liked her. She came on a bit strong, but then ignorance and the lack of hearing that some people were showing would cause anyone to be annoyed, and snap at any moment. She waited for the Professor to continue with her lesson

wild_prairie_gal 07-29-2006 08:53 PM

Sophia rose her hand. "What did they hope to accomplish by throwing the frog prince against the wall?" she asked as she wrote down notes on her parchment.

Brittany Weasly 07-29-2006 08:54 PM

Brittany listened to the professor explain about the humans as she took notes. "That was kind of interesting" Brittany thought to herself.

I'm Spanish, love, I don't know what unexpurgated means, Tia thought to herself, glaring at the Professor. "Whatever," she said under her breath, rolling her eyes at the ceiling and jotting down what the Professor had just said too, the Flourish and Blotts part and all.

Nicole was very happy with this teacher. She may be a bit..difficult at times, but she was very smart. She knew a lot of very interesting stuff, and Nicole took lots of notes. She was happy that she had decided to take this class.

OOC: I have to go soon, again PLEASE keep chatting to a minimum. I will continue the lesson later in the day or tomorrow. Thank you for cooperating.

alpha_male 07-29-2006 08:59 PM

Fred walked to the teacher.

Spork! 07-29-2006 08:59 PM

Amanda walked up to the proffesers desk and took a golden ball.

Brittany Weasly 07-29-2006 08:59 PM

Brittany looked as she said come take one item.

futuremrsmalfoy 07-29-2006 09:00 PM

Kally stood up and walked to the front of the classroom to recieve her iteam.

Maxilocks 07-29-2006 09:00 PM

Scritch-Scractch.

Tia's quill scratched the surface of the parchment, the yellowed surface of which was now hidden underneath dozens of ddodles as Tia drew another cartton figure of the Professor on the corner.

Scritch-Scratch.

alpha_male 07-29-2006 09:00 PM

Fred took a golden ball."What is this?"he asked the teacher.

Raider 07-29-2006 09:00 PM

Rave walked up and grabbed a golden ball from the desk and walked back to ehr seat.

Nightingale 07-29-2006 09:00 PM

Kay stepped forward and took a small ornament from the professor. As she walked back to her seat, she wondered what they would be doing with these items.

Floo14 07-29-2006 09:00 PM

Nick comes forward and takes an item and sits down.

Brittany Weasly 07-29-2006 09:01 PM

Brittany got up very slowly not really wanting to walk pass the professor but walk up to her desk all the same.

Thump0427 07-29-2006 09:01 PM

Walking up to her desk Thump took one of the items and brought them back to his tabel.

potterbaby 07-29-2006 09:01 PM

Tasha stood in line behind a slew of eager students. When it came time to choose her object, she chose a quarts looking stone that glittered inside when moved.

GreenDayGirl9293 07-29-2006 09:02 PM

Nicole walked up to the desk and carefully took a small china ornament. She was very nervous about this. She knew something was bound to break. She carefully walked back to her desk, and took out her scarf. She put the ornament in it, so it wouldn't break.

futuremrsmalfoy 07-29-2006 09:03 PM

"oh okay thank you professor.." kally said now standing in the front of the room to collect her iteam which was a glass ball with color swirled inside,a marble.

Seeker_Seven 07-29-2006 09:03 PM

When it was his turn, Tag approached the desk and selected a china glass dog, making sure to avoid eye contact with Professor Mao-Macdougal.

BrightestWitch 07-29-2006 09:04 PM

Jordana stood up from her seat and made her way to the Professor's desk. Once there she looked at the items and reached for a golden ball. She picked it up and as she walked back to her seat, she clutched it in her hand, and was carful when she sat down to not drop it.

LadyNerd 07-29-2006 09:04 PM

Stacey stood up from her chair and walked towards the Professor's desk. She picked up one of the ornaments lying on the desk and quietly walked back to her seat. Her long straight hair swung around and slapped her in the face as she quickly maneuvered around to her seat. She shook her head for a moment and assumed a straight position of her body within the chair.

"Wow,this class is very informitive."said Amanda, getting a second peice of parchment for her notes.

halfbloodprincess92 07-29-2006 09:05 PM

Rose lazily sauntered up to the desk and choose a rubber ball. She returned to her seat and examined the object closely, taking in every detail.

Maxilocks 07-29-2006 09:06 PM

The scritch-scracth of her quill came to an abrupt end and Tia nearly jumped when the Professor spoke yet again, so immersed had she been in her cartoon figures. She had nearly finished drawing the Professor hurling a frog agaisnt a brick wall. Pleased with her work, she hastily tucked the parchment in her bag before the Professor's eyes could fall on it and cause some more points to be deducted from Gryffindor.

She left her chair and walked over to the Professor. As she waited to be given her item, she flashed the Professor an acidly sweet smile, a memoir of her eventful introduction to the Professor earlier that day, in her own office.

Floo14 07-29-2006 09:07 PM

Nick had a few questions to ask! "Professor, how were spells created? Who was the person that started the whole thing with spells and incantations? Can we, ourselves create one, if we felt like it?" Nick asked nerviously.

Padfoot 07-29-2006 09:08 PM

Heshasa walked to the tacher's desk she took a random item and reuturned to her desk. She found these versions of the story delightfully morbid but she was not happy with Gryffindor's loss of points. Keeping her face impassive she looked at what she had grabbed, a small ornament that glittered. Raising an eyebrow she waited to see what they were going to do.

Tia paused in the middle of taking her item and looked up at the Professor, a smirk almost sliding back in place, but she forced herself to keep a seriosu countenance. It didn't seem Wizarding Laws pleased the Professor much. Quite understandable, of course, Tia thought to herself.

"This class is very informative, Professor," she said, nodding, her face as straight and impassive as possible while inwardly she was rolling all over in laughter. Talk about bad tempers. And sour tempers too, for that matter.

Spork! 07-29-2006 09:15 PM

Amanda looked at the girl named Tia and smiled."What are we going to do with these?"she asked the proffeser.

Brittany Weasly 07-29-2006 09:16 PM

Brittany was very curious on what they were going to do with the objects But Brittany wasn't abou to dare ask her.

Starbreeze 07-29-2006 09:17 PM

Blossom raised her hand hoping the Professor could be of help with something that was troubling her mind. "Professor, the reason why the Princess threw the frog against the wall was because the frog persuaded her regarding the promised she had made him to let him live with her after he promises, and he fulfills his promise, to bring her her golden ball which had fallen in the lake. Is that correct?"

baylorscole 07-29-2006 09:19 PM

Nicole walked in and sat down at a sit, she was a little late, but not too late, it was her last year anyway.. So she sat down at her desk, and starting to listen to the professor talk.. and then Nicole walked up to the desk and got a object from the professor desk, just like the others students.. Nicole was had this class before, and she knew the professor from years before..

ttnmurvul 07-29-2006 09:30 PM

Serinity completed the note she had just taken and put her quill down. She timidly went forward to select one of the items from the professor's desk. "I hope I don't do anything to loose points for Hufflepuff" she thought to herself. She selected a golden ball and went back to her seat.

Nightingale 07-29-2006 09:32 PM

Kay looked down at her notes. She was wondering about her next class and what they would cover there. She wrote down a few more facts that she remembered the Proffessor saying, then gazed out the window at the lake.

potterbaby 07-29-2006 09:33 PM

Tasha sat quietly at her desk and studied the stone she had chosen. She looked at the other students in the class and wondered what was next.

chickensoup08 07-29-2006 10:04 PM

Chikie sat there watching the other students in the room then continued to work on some charms

WhizzyBubbles 07-29-2006 10:28 PM

Alicia strolled into the classroom, and sat down on a chair next to her friend Nicole Smith and started unloading her supplies, she was very very curious and excited about her first Charms Lesson. She took out her required books and nestled them on the table and then took some of her healthy parchemnt and an eagle-feather quill and ink and looked around.

Si 07-29-2006 10:30 PM

Francesca had been relatively quiet throughout this lesson because she thought her favorite professor had gone batty for being...involved with Nik's git of a dad. She shook her head when Gryffindors kept losing points in class. They obviously don't know how to handle a class with AMMZ. You don't question her. She got up and took one of the pieces of china then went back to where she was sitting. For once she wasn't sitting next to Nik. No particular reason for that of course. She stayed very quiet while waiting on AMMZ's instructions.

James_Potter 07-29-2006 10:55 PM

James pushed open the door and walked into the Charms classroom. He lingered by the door for a moment before silently choosing a seat in the back. His eyes wandered around and he noticed that Stacey had gotten up and took an ornament from the professor's desk. So did the others. He slid out of his chair and shuffled up to her desk and carefuly picked up one of her ornaments. He turned around and walked back to his desk.

WhizzyBubbles 07-29-2006 10:58 PM

Alicia decided aswell as the rest of the students, take an ornament of the Professors desk, she stood up, pushed he chair in silentl and made her way up to the professors desk, she carefully took an ornament and then strolled to her chair and sat down and placed her ornament in the middle of her desk, waiting for further instructions.

baybgal6735 07-29-2006 11:21 PM

Alexandra got up to take an object from off the professor's desk. She observed it as she went back to her seat and waited for the Professor to tell them what to do with it.

gumdrop480 07-29-2006 11:58 PM

Kalaya got up and walked to the professor's desk. She hesitated before taking an item, unsure as if which she chose would make a difference. Glancing back at Jordana she saw that she had taken the golden ball; she quickly grabbed one as well and briskly walked through the crowd of students that were reaching for items. Taking her seat next to Jor she smiled at her as she carefully set down her object. She kept a hand on it to make sure it didn't roll, and looked up at the professor, waiting for instructions.

James_Potter 07-29-2006 11:59 PM

James twisted around in his seat and looked at Alicia.
"Hey, I'm James-" he whispered to her.

WhizzyBubbles 07-30-2006 12:02 AM

She nodded and smiled at James. Then she took her direction to the ornament that lay on her desk.

James_Potter 07-30-2006 12:11 AM

A rule just popped into his head that they weren't supposed to talk. He looked at Alicia and nodded to her question. He pulled out a sheet of parchment and his quill and scribbled a note to her.
We aren't supposed to talk in class!
He put his stuff away quietly and passed it to her.

Ama 07-30-2006 12:18 AM

Celestina Warbuck wasn't one to talk in class. She wasn't even one to ask many questions either considering how odd most of the Professor's were. Especially Professor AMMZ who had quite a temper. Her latest explosion in the halls had confirmed that for the young girl.

She had twitched when Tia cost Gryffindor points and broke the tip of her quill just when she was about to add a dot to her last sentence. Holding in the urge to throw the quill at the girl she merely glared at her hoping that somehow, magically, a hole would appear in the middle of her big empty head.

Freya 07-30-2006 01:14 AM

Touy walk up to the front of the class and picked up a golden ball. I wonder what we will do with these she thought. It was hard to believe all these students would be rude enough to talk in class. Maybe they were American tranfer student who didn't know any better. Touy knew the professor was law and if you didn't want to loose house points you follow the rule and never talked in class with out being asked, especially this class.

Cassandra, who had sat down by her friend Kally, got up and went to the front of the class to pick up her item. She walked slowly back to her seat examining the object in her hands. She was going to be able to charm the item, this excited her immensely. She had read the story of the Frog Prince in the text, but she had been too late to speak up. As she sat back down looking at the item she picked out, she couldn't help but hope she could practice on actual people.

She sat looking at the professor's boots. The professor's demeanor and attitude had made her smile. She was sure that the charms professor had been a Slytherin and that made her proud. She sighed and waited for further instruction.

Raychelle timidly walked up to the teachers desk and picked up an item. She had been quiet through this lesson so far, she had decided this was the best plan until she found out what all the teachers were like. She sat back in her seat and waited for more instructions

Lee moved to the front of the class to pick up an item, slowly trying to keep out of the gaze of the Professor. He didn't want to be socialising with her sooner than was necessary.

After retreiving his item he moved to his seat at the back of the class and placed his item on his desk. He had been practising a lot of non verbal magic lately and had succeded quite well, but wandless magic was another story altogether.
