| | What In Merlin's Beard...?! (Term 12)
A bit confused about the plot? Housemates talking about a mysterious something going bump in the night? Here's where you can catch up on happenings around the castle-- Out of Character of course.
That means that unless your student character heard this stuff from other students, your student character doesn't know about it.
Oh, and a reminder to all to only post updates on the school plot here. Chat goes in the school chat thread. Have fun!
-----
The term has begun, with the staff talking amongst themselves of the Sorting Hat, and a food fight amongst the Houses has resulted in all the Houses beginning the term with NEGATIVE house points--a rare occurance indeed. Samea, school poultergist, was last seen singing a cryptic (or nonsensical, take your pick) poem to a student. Is she just fooling around as usual? The Gryffindor Commons have been trashed! And not just the Gryffindor Commons, but it appears that all four common rooms have been upturned. Students have been told to stay in the Great Hall until the staff figures out how bad it is, and who did it. The common rooms are now better than before, but the staff still has no idea who or what did the mess. Strange riddles have been found in the Common rooms, picked up by various students from all the Houses. Each one appears to be different...what does it all mean? Aaaand...Professor Branxton and Headmistress Rae are currently engaged! But there was a small mixup on Professor Lainley's part, who sent out invitations to the staff that Rae and McAiken were engaged. The mistake was cleared up without too much ado, though Lainley passed out when McAiken proposed to her. Rave Stone of Slytherin and Lua Stone of Gryffindor have put their heads together to crack their riddle, as well as Whende of Gryffindor and her small group of friends, including Davina (Hufflepuff), Kay (Ravenclaw) and Elijah (Ravenclaw). Godric's portrait has been sought out by one of the students, and apparently he knows something of the riddle. Where is this all leading to? Update: Headmistress Rae became victim of a Dark artefact, but appears to be recovering and in good health.
Several students have been on the scent of the riddles, the most prominent group including Rave (Slytherin), Lee (Hufflepuff), Lua (Gryffindor), Kay (Ravenclaw), Linnea (Ravenclaw) and Matt (Slytherin). (There were a few more, but this chronicler has since lost track.) Currently the clues have lead them to the Restricted Section of the Library in the dead of night...looking for something. Further update: After being caught and then overpowering the librarian, the group of students have found...THE BOOK. After a 2-3 year absence from notice, the Book has been found. The students then decided to hand the book over to Rae, resulting in a squabble between Lee, Linny and Matt as to who gets to carry it there. Matt appears to be more than he seems to be, with his own hidden agenda...will the students survive the night? Current Weather: Spring? |

This was just posted in the Gryffindor common room and dorms Quote:
The Fat Lady's portrait hangs loosely from one corner, revealing the entrance to the Gryffindor Common Room. As you peak past a fallen beam which bars your way into the room, you see a horrific sight. The wallpaper seems to have been torn off the walls, portraits are strewn about and those with permanent sticking charms have been badly slashed. The fire in the grate is roaring uncontrollably and it appears that someone has set off a bunch of fireworks in the room. The furniture is upturned, the upholstrey ripped to shreds. Stuffing and feathers from pillows and chairs is still floating, lazily, in the air. The entire common room seems to have been ransacked with drawers pulled out and every cupboard open or with doors torn off. What could possibly have happened in here?

I don't know if any of the other houses received the same notice but I guess everyone is meeting down in the Great Hall. It’s like HP3 all over again…I wonder who was the mysterious person the broke in?

| Seelow ☆ Overnight Celebrity ☆ Perky! ☆ Harley Quinn Quote: As you approach the Slytherin Common Room you wonder why the door is open. Instead of the usual blank wall, you step in front of a couple of toppled suits of armor blocking an open doorway. You gasp in shock as you see what has happened to your beloved common room. The leather of the chairs has been torn up and the stuffing strewn about the room, even burned in some places. Many of the tables have been upturned or broken to pieces. There's a roaring fire in the grate with one can only imagine what to fuel it. It even smells like someone dropped a few dungbombs while they were lighting Fillibuster fireworks and throwing various items into portable swamps. What could possibly have happened in here?

| Nabs!Ama | | The Happy Hufflepuff Quote: As you walked down the corridor toward the common room, you notice a puddle sitting outside the portrait which seems to have gone missing. You hurry forward and see that instead of a portrait, there's a pile of pots and pans preventing you from getting into the room. If you stand on tiptoe, however, you can see the mess that was once the Hufflepuff Common Room. Burnt feathers are floating through the air, creating a sort of winteresque scene of destruction. Chairs have been upturned and their stuffing pulled out, the upholstry ripped to shreds. Portraits have been torn off the walls as well as the various tapestries. It looks as if someone had taken a muggle sledgehammer to some of the walls as there are huge dents and holes in some of them. The rugs have been torn from the floor and thrown willy nilly and burned where they lay. What could possibly have happened in here? Quote:

As you've probably noticed, there is a pattern here. This was posted in the Hufflepuff common room. |

they posted it in the ravenclaw common room too Quote: An unusual wind is floating down the staircase leading to Ravenclaw tower. There's a faint smell of smoke on the air. You hurry up the steps and to your horror, the portrait hole is gaping open. The door is blocked by several pieces of wood nailed to where the portrait used to hang. You peek through the slats and look upon the destruction within. The chairs and tables have been strewn about the room. Portraits are hanging off the walls, their occupants screaming, or gone, having fled to other paintings. The rugs have been ripped up, as well as the upholstry and lovely wall hangings. There are even some spots where the floorboards have been ripped up. The common room had been effectively trashed, right down to the burning of pillows and the drowning of books. What could possibly have happened in here?

| At the loony bin ❣ Ubiquitous ❣ Brain!nvader ❣ !Wake The Dead¡ I don't think anyone got in trouble or had points deducted when they went to the kitchen (except house-elves being cranky about it). But the only points that where deducted at the kitchens was by Professor craft because a gryffindor (Lua) & Ravenclaw (sol) Elf-napped Algamus the head house elf.

Um...elf-napping usually merits punishment. Nobody ever elf-napped Hogwarts House Elves in the books, after all, so of course they didn't get detention.

I want to remind you that anything shared in here is NOT ic knowledge. Just because you've read Samea's poem or know the details of the common room destruction does NOT mean that your character knows about either of these things. I'm finding that a lot a lot of people know about Samea's poem when I'm not aware that the three girls who know have told that many people. Just... keep it in mind.

Whatever... the point remains that people need to be sure they know something IC or OOC.

Remember, how often do you take anything you've heard from a friend or fellow student as fact? Let alone from an often misbehaving poltergeist that likes to play pranks. Quote:

On that note, everyone should remember that unless your character has a particularly keen memory, when passing on the poem, songs, or things like this your character should pass on what they remember, not what you read.

D also told Matt while I was unconcious lol, actually, she told a lot of people while I was unconcious... Okay, so maybe not a lot, just a bunches of professors, Matt, and Andy. he he, I exaggerate too much...
^ whende copied it down on a piece of parchment, then read it until it was basically memorized, so she gave the page to Davina... I'm pretty sure that while the grounds keeper was eavesdropping that she wrote it down as well. Other than that, it's like fox in socks said, you can't have it word for word, I've even forgotten some of it.

Samea is the school poltergiest. She gave a student (aka: me) A riddle. The groundskeeper and one other student over heard. Now those two students have formed a group called PI with some of their friends. Hope that summed everything up...
