Potions Lesson #2 Professor Branxton stepped into his classroom feeling better than he'd felt in quite a long time. He propped the door open and whistled as he walked behind his desk and took a seat, flicking his wand at the chalkboard so that the words 'Babbling Beverage' appeared. |
Alanna entered the Potions classsroom. Taking a seat in the front, she pulled out some parchment, ink, and a quill. Only after copying down the words "Babbling Beverage" from the front did she realize what quill she had taken out. The pheonix feather one Yurio had given her. She sighed and prepared for the class. |
Tas came into the classroom smiling. "Hello, Professor." She picked a seat closer to the blackboard and sat down. |
Elizabeth entered the classroom. She took a seat in the middle of the room, pulled out her things, and read the board. "Babbling Beverage" it said. "Very interesting" she thought to herself. This would probably be a good lesson. |
"Good afternoon, class. As you can see from the board, we will be discussing and brewing the Babbling Beverage today. What can you tell me about it?" he asked, after standing and walking around to the front of his desk. |
Edaj walked into the classroom, took a seat near the back and read the board... "Babbling Beverage," it said. "OOhh!, what fun!" she said, while wondering, 'will we actually get to drink it?' ooc: i'm NOT going to miss this one EDIT: Edaj thought hard at the proffessor's question, realizing she knew nothing about it.... she'd try to guess, "does it have anything to do with it, the potion we'll be brewing, making noises?" she was thinking the term 'babbling' right there... "will we actually get to drink it?" |
Evy raised her hand: "It causes the person who drinks it to speak nonsense." |
ooc: so that's what Dumbly drank in the 6th? Edaj decided to move up front a bit, and sat down next to a fellow Slytherin, Tas. "do you mind if i sit here?" she asked. |
Tas raised her hand: "It may also make a person tell secrets" She whispered at Edaj: "She, I don't mind, have a seat here, we're Slytherins after all." She polished the badge proudly then turned back to Professor again. |
Not able to think of anything to add to the other students comments, Rose pulled out a piece of parchment and jotted down what was being said. |
Stacey sat towards the front of the classroom and began to listen to Professor Branxton speak of the Babbling Potion. She pulled out a piece of parchment and her quill to begin taking notes. |

Emma fingered her hair, thinking hard about what could be in the babbling beverage. "Maybe, professor," She started, hand in the air, "Something that would make a person giddy or hyper, because when people are giddy or hyper, they often talk a lot and prattle on and on... something like sugar, caffiene or alcohol...?" Emma felt really unsure about her answer, but was at least glad she thought up something. |
Brittany was unsure, so she didnt raise her hand. Instead she merely nodded her head at Emma's answer..and scribbled a few notes. |

Sylvia took a chance. "Maybe whatever is in those Fizzing Whizzbees?" Sylvia knew it soundeded stupid, but was glad that she plucked up the courage to ask. |
Emma blushed. Of course! This was a wizards potion! Unfortunatley, being muggle born and not familiar with every-day wizard ingredients, she didn't answer again. |
"I'm not familiar with the ingredients in fizzing whizzbees so, I am not sure whether or not your answer is correct," he said to the Slytherin girl. "Anyone else have any ideas?" |
Sephora raised her hand and said "Maybe some kind of mushrooms. There are mushrooms you will get hallucination from, maybe there's aldo one that will make you all bubbly. But I have to agree with Sylvia." She smiled towards the other girl. |
Novalus thought again and put up his hand "Could it have a truth potion mixed with a sort of laughing-type potion" When people babble they seem to say things they don't want to?" |
Stacey raised her hand after several minutes of thinking. "Would the ingredients for lovage be used Professor?" she asked. She thought that it would be worth a shot for her answer. |
"Excellent thinking but, I'm afraid you haven't come up with anything specific, yet. Anyone else with any ideas? I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a wizarding potion ingredient that causes giddiness." |
