Muggle Studies Lesson 2 Professor Light hurried into the classroom, notes in hand, wand in hair... she tossed everything down on the desk, and hurried about the room, moving this way and that, pushing the desks into a somewhat normal arrangement. Finished! And just in time... I'm going to start soon. Professor Light stepped back and smiled at her ablity to arrange the room in under 30 seconds... And before any students showed up! I ought to get an award or something... haha... Professor Light was still putting her wand up into it a messy curly ponytail as the students began to enter. |
Serena stepped into the classroom, excited about the propspect of another lesson with Professor Light. She thoroughly enjoyed the last and wondered what was in store for this lesson. As she took her seat, she smiled and bid the professor a cheery hello. |
Professor Light waved hello to Serena, a girl she had remembered came to her last lesson. She look at the door, as only a few students trickled in. "Lessons always get smaller toward the end of the year... I think it's the arm weather..." she joked to the class. "I expect this to be a relatively short lesson, with easy homework, so don't worry, you'll have time to go out and enjoy the nice weather." she smiled, noting the blue skies and sunshine outside the window. "I'll wait just another few minutes before I get started." |
Julia does her James Bond rolls into the classroom and dives into a seat in the middle of the classroom. She takes out paper and a pencil and yawns, then glances at one of the other students in the classroom. "Hello Miss I-like-to-go-ROAR! prefect," she says, giggling quietly. She leans back in her chair, not thinking as she doesn't hold on to the desk in front of her. Just like in a class she was in before, Julia's chair tips over. Staring up at the ceiling, she giggles and does a backwards roll out of her chair. She sits her chair up, then hops back into it as she glances at the professor. "My bad," she says quietly, giggling. |
Sebastian entered the class, taking a seat near the back. Muggle Studies always seemed to be an interesting class, no matter what they were talking about. |
Ayumi walked in and took her seat. Professor Light was right, with this kind of weatheer she wasn't really looking forward to taking notes. However, school was school, so she sat down and took her pen out, ready to start. "Hello Professor Light." Ayumi said cheerfully. |
Professor Light looked at her class and smiled. There were only a few people, but they were awesome students, and that was what mattered. "Ok, so let's see if I can't get you some easy points for your house... Who can tell me anything about Muggle cooking from last lesson?" |
"Umm, Muggles use some of the same utensils like us such as forks, and knives, but they also use other things like stoves and blenders." Ayumi said, after looking through her notes from last class. |
Julia raises her eyebrows, then shrugs and raises her hand. "Well... they don't use magic," she says, stating the obvious. "To cook, they use spoons, forks, spatulas, and microwaves, as well as other items. And some of us learned how good microwave popcorn is." Grinning, she shrugs casually and doodles on her paper. |

"Take 2 points each for your house!" |
Sebastian wrote down what the professor was saying, having lost his notes from the last class. It looked like they'd be doing a review for a while, so he might as well prosper from it. |
Julia looks over at her fellow Ravenclaw and gives her a quick thumbs up, then grins to herself. She looks up at Professor Light, thinking, Haha. She knows she loves us Ravenclaws the best. Smirking over at the Gryffindor prefect, she then goes back to doodling on her paper. |
"Ok, so based on your answers, I would assume it would be safe to say that both of you believe that Muggles relatively have the same sort of cooking objects, but with their own little "quirks" to accomodate for their inablity to use magic." Professor Light moved around the classroom for a little bit, gathering her thoughts. "This class, today, we will be covering a little bit about Muggle Cleaning. You'll understand why this lesson will be rather short soon enough." she smiled at the students, and reached under her desk, extracting a bright pink feather duster. She absent mindedly flicked about in the air as she asked the class, "Now, I just want you to raise your hands if you've ever used one of these feather dusters, or ever seen one used in your house." |
Julia studies the object in the professor's hand as she flicks it around. She then raises her hand and says, "I've seen one of those before... but it was blue..." Pondering, she then says, "I don't know what you do with it, though." |
Sebastian nodded his head. "My mother charms those all the time to do the cleaning." |
Professor Light watched as a few hands went up, and some of the students she knew were both purebloods and muggleborns. "Alright, that about proves my point. Even in cleaning, Muggles and wizards have a lot in common... While most witches will simply charm this to dust their shelves, Muggles can still use it to dust their shevles, but they simply..." Professor Light paused and ran the puffy pink part over the books on her desk. A small about of dusk came off of the top. She looked at the class, "I know this seems sort of like common sense, but it's simply another thing that makes us and muggles so very similar. The people who search for differences, I think, are often missing the similarities that are right in front of them." she said seriously, shaking her duster in her hand as she talked. |
Rose looked at the odd object with interest. It looked like something she had seen in the Quibbler. "Have those been featured in the Quibbler?" she asked. She restrained herself from raising her hand since her father used magic to clean. |
Ayumi looked at the "feather duster", although she didn't have one she saw one in a store before, but it looked alot like another thing that she had seen. "Umm Professor, I've seen a pen with feathers comming from the top. Does that count as a feather duster?" |
Professor Light looked at the students. There weren't too many of them there. It would be interesting to see what they thought. "Hey guys, if you'd all like to get off topic with me..." There was a strange sort of glint her in eyes. She was about to talk about something she was really passionate about, and she couldn't stop herself. "So... after noting all of these similarities and differences, I want to know what you all think about Muggle/Wizard differences. I think so many people get so caught up on the fact that Muggles can't use magic that they miss the fact that they are so similar in many ways. I'd be very interested to hear your opinions on this topic..." she trailed off looking at her students. |
Julia raises her eyebrows as Professor Light says that she wants their opinion on the topic. She coughs, then scoots down low in her chair. She'd let the other students take care of this discussion this time. She draws a picture of her crup, Jeff, on the side of her paper, occasionally glancing up at the other students. |
Brittany cleared her throat and looked around the room. She sighed and looked straight forward. She didn't really know how to answer. |
Rose put her finger to her chin and thought about it. "Um, well. Muggles can communicate fast by something they call com-com-comuters. Wizards on the other hand use owls and, sometimes, potronouses. And I guess Muggles have to work harder then we do. They have to use so many different trinkets that confuse me," she shook her head and sighed. "They have pets and stuff like we do. They go to school and stuff. They have careers after school like us that add to their community." Rose took a deep breath before she added, "If you subtracted the magic, we'd be just like them." |
"Well I think that muggles and Wizards aren't really that diffrent. I mean they just don't use magic. My grandparents on my father's side are muggles, but they have liked for over 60 years happily. I mean we all have feelings and emotions we just go about doing things in a diffrent way. I don't really see the big deal about muggles being so diffrent." Ayumi said calmly, after all she was 1/4 muggle herself. |
Melany raised her hand. "besides magic, is their anything else that's different between muggles and wizards?" Melany asked, wondering if it was a stupid question. |
Erin raised her hand."Well, someone mentioned both of us having pets," she glanced around the room, "but I guess one difference would be the types of pets we keep. Like, I don't know any muggles that own owls, but they are pretty common as pets for wizards." Erin knew her answer didn't cover many aspects of the differences and similarities of muggles and wizards, but it was a part of it that she found interesting. |
