Professor Light opens up the door to her classroom, ripping the note off the door as she enters. She crumples the note, sticks her wand behind her ear, and flips her curly hair behind her head in one fluid motion. She glanced around the room and smiled. With a flick of her wand, the board is wiped clear and writing appears.
“Professor I. Light.
Muggles Studies, Lesson 1”
She walked over to her cabinet, pulled out a set of notes, and placed them on her desk. Looking at the clock, she realizes she is a bit early, so she sits down on top of her desk in anticipation of the lesson.

Alanna walked into the Muggle Studies classroom and sat in the front. Muggles were not new to her at all, since her father was one, but if the class was anything like last year she knew she'd love it. "Hello, Professor," she said when she saw her on top of the teacher's desk.

Julia does her classic James Bond rolls into the classroom and slips into the seat next to the Gryffindor prefect. She eyes the girl for a moment, then looks up at the professor. "Hello Professor Light. How are you today?" she greets with a grin. Julia really liked her classes last term, and she really hoped that the lessons this term would be just as exciting. She eyes the Gryffindor next to her again for a moment, straightens her Bugs Bunny Cape, then takes out her materials for class.

Professor Light waved to the students entering, and smiled happily and replied with a cheerful "Hello!" to the students who greeted her.
"We'll start in a minute or two, I just want to give everyone a chance to arrive. I couldn't get the word out as easily with the common rooms...well... as they are right now" she stopped and her usual smile faltered slightly. It was quickly replaced with another smile, as more students entered.

Lee enters in excitement. He hadn't attended a Muggle Studies lesson last term since he had found his other lessons a bit more important, but he had decided to return for his OWL year after the good reviews the new Professor had received off of his fellow classmates last term. Lee took a seat in the back and waiting patiently, tapping his wand on the desk.

She carefully laid out her belongings and picked out her favorite quill. She didn't want to be cocky, but she was raised as a muggle, so this should be an easy mark to get.

Professor Light looked around the room. It was full enough, time to start! She closed the door and hurried to the front of the room in anticipation. "Hello, everyone, and welcome to Muggle Studies! I'm Professor Light, and I'll be your teacher this year, obviously. This is going to be a very hands on class...not so much as last year... but I want to keep Muggle Studies fun and interesting enough that everyone can enjoy it. And not that hard if I can help it..." she paused and looked around the room of students. "Muggles are very interesting... no matter what you may have heard. The ways and ideas they have used and developed to overcome not being able to use magic are really, well, there is no other word for it, amazing." She tapped the board. Her name was erased, and a list of rules appeared.
THE BLACKBOARD: CLICK HERE
She moved aside so everyone could see the board and looked at the room. "Yes, I know, no one wants to read these, but since this class will have lots of oppurtunity for interaction, I want everyone to be aware of these. I apologize for anyone who has heard this speech before... I'm not all that creative, you see." She laughed a little.

Alanna read the rules on the board, but didn't write them down. The rules were generally the same os the other classes, so it wouldn't be too hard to remember them.

Professor Light waited around to the back of the room while the students read the board. When it looked as though most people had finished, she began, "If you haven't finished yet, don't worry, I'll always have a copy of these posted in my office. And now... I said this was going to be kind of interactive. Well, in Muggle School, all Muggles write with pencils or pens, usually no quills. Therefore, if you have a pen or pencil, please use it in this class. If you do not have a pencil, simply raise your hand and I will come to each of you and enchant your quill so that it will only be transfigured as a pencil during this class."
She walked back up to the front of the classroom. She looked around to see if any students needed this enchantment, and bounced toward their desks in a happy manner.

Rose was a little disappointed she couldn't use her favorite quill. She reluctantly put her ink and quill away and took out a pen she kept in there as a habit. She didn't have the heart to do away with her pens and paper from the muggle school days.

Professor Light hurried over to Christy and Rose to enchant their quills.
"You may use paper if you'd like, but it not required. I figure you could write on whatever you want post-it notes even if you'd like, so I wouldn't make you all use the same paper," she smiled.
(ooc: if you post after this post, your quill has automatically been enchanted.)
"So... now... at the beggining of each new year, I like to do a general overview of...well.. who exactly muggles really are. So, can anyone give me the most basic definition of a muggle?"

Kay took out her wand and her quill. She lay the quill on the desk before her and held her wand in her right hand. Concentrating on the quill, she tapped it once with her wand and watched as it transformed into a pencil.
She heard the professor ask a question and raised her hand. "A Muggle is a non-magic person."

Kalaya listened as a few of the students gave the defination of a muggle. She didn't need to write it down, as it was basic information. Lazily she picked up her pencil and wrote out Muggle Studies-Lesson 1 at the top of the parchment. She looked up at the professor, waiting for the next question.

Professor Light called on Kay, Erin and Rose, the first three hands that shot into the air. "Wonderful! You are all correct of course, a Muggle is a person who does not use, or does not have the capability to use magic. This is really the only major difference between them and the witches and wizards you see sitting next to you. You may each take a point for your respective houses." she said, nodding at them.
She walked back up to the front of the room. "Now... some other interesting things we should all know about Muggles. First, there are some things a Muggle simply cannot do without the aid of a tool or other object. For instance, they need a match or a lighter to light a fire... but most of us would simply say, incendio."
"Since they are not able to use magic, they have to invent ways to get around it... and so they do just that... invent. Muggles are pretty amazing in the ways they are able to create things. Some Muggles understand how certain things work much better than us wizards and witches ever will. They call this discovery of things science." She stopped and waited for the students to finish writing notes, sitting herself back down on top of her desk, and smiling at the room.
