Flying Lesson #2 Paul dragged the two chests containing quidditch equipment onto the wet, damp pitch. It was raining, not heavily, and he had chosen to wear a heavy rain robe. He opened the first chest, also containing rain robes all in house colors, and all probably well over fifty years old - definately out of style. He opened the other chest and began removing the school brooms everyone used in the last lesson. After setting this up he went back to his office and came out with a set of flags, he began setting them up while waiting for the students to appear. OOC: I will be out for the next hour or so, but class will likely be open the first half of the week. Feel free to post, and have minimal conversation with your IC friends, but don't spam please. Thank you. |
Serilda walked out onto the grounds and headed over to the Quidditch pitch where Paul was getting out the equipment. "Hi, Professor," she said. She leaned against the wooden boards of the Quidditch pitch and glanced about, looking for a sign of other students. She awaited the start of the lesson. |
Paul looked up. "Eh? Is that you girl?" He walked over to her and handed her a blue and silver rain robe. "Put this on, or yer sure to be soaked by the end of the class. How're you feeling there then?" |
Hermy walked onto the pitch far more confidently than her last lesson. After the extra practice between the lessons she had felt in control of her broom, and she was anxious to learn more. She had so enjoyed the freedom of being in the air, and wanted to able to do a lot more than just starting and stopping. Flicking her wet fringe out of her eyes, she went and stood at edge to wait for further instruction. |
Brittany stepped out onto the pitch. Carrying her broom on her right shoulder, Brittany pulled down the hood of her robe over her face. It was dreary, drizzling day- bad conditions for Quidditch. Feeling anxious, yet lazy at the same time, Brittany stepped to the side waiting to see if more people would show up. |
Caitlin looked around confidently at the other people there; she'd never been the best flyer but she was hoping to do well enough in the lesson. She pulled her robes around her tighter, wishing the rain would stop before they began to fly. She sighed, shifting her weight over to her other foot, then waited patiently for the lesson to begin. |

Allie strolled out onto the pitch. She was excited that she had made the Quidditch team, and she wanted to be the best she could be. She put on her rain robe and made sure everything was secure. |
Paul nodded. "Grand girl, I'm just grand." He held his arms on his hips and looked around at the assembled students. The rain hadn't given out, but Paul didn't seem to either notice or care. He indicated the brooms to the students and smiled. "Now then, since yerselves showed up early, why don't we get started and everyone else can show up when they do they do," he said, grabbing his own broom. "Today, we're going to be learning about climbing and basic maneuvering. So I hope everyone practiced the basics we learned last time. All of ye grab rain robes while I'm on about it. No sense in getting completely soaked." Paul stopped, pointing towards the robes and brooms for the students. |
Caitlin nodded. "Yes, professor." She headed towards where he had pointed and picked up a rain robe. After putting it on, she picked up a broom and waited for further instructions. |
Tas quickly ran to where sir Paul had pointed covering her eyes from the rain drops and decided to rewise Macdougall's lesson: while being just a few inches away from a rain robes she thoght Accio rain robe, then added any, but just one. A robe almost threw itself at her, she put it on and picked up a free broom. |
srimathi entered the quiodditch pitch hello professor she said srimathi saw the rain robes and took one from them and put it on and then picked up a school broom |
Paul nodded and waited for all the students to get ready. "Once ye've grabbed a broom, just mount it and hover quiettly and wait fer everyone else then." |
Sylvia walked through the rain towards where the lesson was being held. When she got there, Sylvia used Accio to get her some rainrobes and a broom. Now Sylvia was prepared for the lesson, but she still was pretty damp. |
"Good to hear you're well, Professor," said Serilda. She adjusted her hood, picked up a broom, mounted and hovered a few feet from the ground and awaited further instruction. |
Caitlin swung one leg over the broom and softly zoomed upward, to where she was sitting just a few feet from the ground. She was relieved she had a rain robe; her broom was wet and slippery. She would've been embarassed to go back into school with a wet bottom. She couldn't help but to laugh a little at the thought. |
Davina got herself a rain robe and put it on.She then took up a broom and hovered.Taking flying lessons this year was definately a good idea, especially since she had made the team. |
Tonya got a rain robe and put it on then she grabbed a broom mounted it and hovered while she waited for class to start. |
Rose pulled a rain robe over her self and mounted her broom. She relaxed her grip on the handle and eased upward and hoovered in the air. Even though it was raining, Rose thought it to be a lovely day. |
lizzy mounted her broom casually and gripped the handle. she leant forward and hovered gently above the ground. despite the weather, she could not wait to fly again. as she waited for instructions she beamed. flying lessons were certainly the best thing about hogwarts and lizzy looked forward to every oppertunity to fly. |
Tas mounted her broom and tried to bend down before rising few feet. She looked at other students already hovering and did the same. She laughed to herself and made a mental note about joining Quidditch team next year, but then thought it wouldn't be a great idea as she almost slipped off her broom because of the rain. I wish Macdougall teached us to put antiwet charms on things, she thought as the drops started getting to her shoes. |
fuj got on her broom after putting on her rain robes and started to hover |
Paul nodded to the students as they mounted their brooms. He floated around them gently, nodding approvingly, despite the rain. "Right then. 'Ere we are so. Today we'll be learning the essentials of flight: lifting, diving, and basic maneuvers." He floated back in front of the students. "Now then, to begin, I want everyone to learn to lift and fall properly. Lifting is easy enough, simply pull up on yer stick. If ye don't move yer weight forward or back, yerself'll just move up in place. So I want to see everyone try lifting up, like this." Paul pulled up gently on his stick without shifting his weight. He flew straight up in a meticulous path. When he reached about 30 feet above the students, he looked down and said, "Now everyone try. Don't worry now, I've put a softening charm on the ground 'ere so if ye fall, it'll be like landing on a mattress. Don't try going higher than 30 feet though, er ye'll be knocked right off yer broom." |
Melany mounted her broom and did as was insturcted. she flew up about 25 feet then stopped. |
Meghan nodded on her hovering broom. She looked up at the Professor and saw him about 30 feet above them. She gulped and than gently pulled up on her broom. She lifted only a few feet but she squeeled with excitement anyways. She took another deep breath and pulled her broom up a little more again. Slowly, but steadily, she lifted herself and her broom up to almost 20 feet. She smiled and decided to go up no farther. 20 feet was good enough for her. |
