Sylvia raised her hand, " When you are surrounded by muggles in a dangerous situation?" Sylvia guessed.

Silver Knight 05-13-2006 11:45 PM

Serilda raised her hand and said, "When you are in the presence of a Muggle and magic can or shall make you seem...awkward in the Muggle world. Also when you are underage in wizardry and can't preform magic without breaking the law."

Ellen4Potter 05-13-2006 11:45 PM

I think some kind of non - magical defense is fighting with sword, using a weapon like sword I mean, also karate, kong fu and also martial arts. I think these ways are some of non - magical defenses.

LeapFrog 05-13-2006 11:46 PM

Rose raised her hand. "Non-magical techniques would be preferred in either a situation involving muggles or around muggles, as to not involve the Ministry of Magic in covering up any incidents."

gryffindorgal1114 05-13-2006 11:46 PM

Solitaire raised her hand."One preferred non magical way is when you're dealing with a muggle. You may get into a fight with a muggle for some reason, you should not use magic."

mandibear30 05-13-2006 11:49 PM

Mandi raised her hand and replied "When Muggles are Present."

demented_death_eater 05-13-2006 11:50 PM

Kay raised her hand. "An example could be when someone tries to hit you with their fists and you use your hands and arms to protect yourself, as well as using your fists to fight back."

Cassirin 05-13-2006 11:54 PM

"Definitely... when encountering a Muggle, you're going to want to hide your abilities from Muggles... five for Slytherin. And Ellen has a good point... when I say non-magical, that really could mean any number of methods of defending oneself. Five for Gryffindor. The most foolish thing a grown Wizard can do is to underestimate someone because they don't have a wand in their hand."

Silver Knight 05-13-2006 11:57 PM

Serilda jotted down some notes in her book.

whende 05-13-2006 11:59 PM

Whende raised her hand. "Professor? How can one defend against magic with out using magic?" she asked. It was probably a stupid question as it would most likely be answered later in the lesson.

Pandalicious 05-14-2006 12:06 AM

Brittany began to scribble a few notes on some spare parchment but looked up after Whende asked her question- Brittany found quite interesting. She put down her quill and looked at the Professor.

Ellen4Potter 05-14-2006 12:06 AM

I think if you can do kong fu perfect, you can defense yourself against a wizard non-magical

Evy 05-14-2006 12:12 AM

Evy took some notes.

Silver Knight 05-14-2006 12:12 AM

Serilda thought about the question the Gryffindor asked. She thought, You get out of the way of the spell. She looked at the Professor for an answer.

missy-dancer-skater 05-14-2006 12:16 AM

marissa opened her note book and took notes. than looked at the professer for an answer.

Cassirin 05-14-2006 12:21 AM

"There are different ways to defend yourself, but knowing some method of Muggle self-defense is not a bad place to start. Of course, there are more... shall we say... elementary ways to defend yourself? Does anyone have any ideas? Any suggestions regarding how you can defend yourself from attack?'

whende 05-14-2006 12:23 AM

Whende hesitated, but raised her hand. "Jump out of the way," she suggested.

Silver Knight 05-14-2006 12:23 AM

Serilda raised her hand and said, "Don't get into a situation where fighting in the first place, and/or walking away. If you are attacked you should try to keep your face, neck and other vital parts protected."

missy-dancer-skater 05-14-2006 12:25 AM

marissa raised her hand "you could punch them!" laughed marissa.

Pandalicious 05-14-2006 12:25 AM

Brittany raised her hand, "Maybe- can you defend yourself with what muggles call karate or kung fu? It teaches muggle defensive systems such as when someone is provoking you."

Ellen4Potter 05-14-2006 12:25 AM

Ellen sits and listens to other students and thier comments, and also is waiting for professor to continue her lesson.

Evy 05-14-2006 12:25 AM

Evy raised her hand. "Asking for help is always a good idea..."

Silver Knight 05-14-2006 12:25 AM

"You should also keep your head down and keep moving," said Serilda, hand still raised.

feeheeheeny 05-14-2006 12:28 AM

"Defend yourself from an attack by doing rolls across the ground like I always do to get out of the way," she says to herself in a whisper, then giggles quietly. She jots down a few notes then glances around the classroom, a mischievous look on her face.

Cassirin 05-14-2006 12:44 AM

"Excellent... you have lots of good suggestions. I especially like that many of you realize that the best way to defend yourself often isn't through magic or violence... but through thinking safely. Running and avoiding spells, especially while you are underaged, is a great idea. Perhaps Julia will teach us all her special roll after class," she grinned and pulled her hand out from inside her robes to push the hair behind her ear.

"So... we are ready to think outside the box. You've told me ways to protect yourself without magic. What about non-defensive spells that you can use to protect yourself?"
