Quite tiredly, Evan stepped into the clasroom, dragging his satchel along, in an unsophisticated manner. He really didn't feel like studying - not in the least - but his week off Hogwarts had been starting to pay its regards. Casting a long, bored look around the class, and not spotting anyone who'd raise his interest, he stomped into a desk somewhere in the middle of the row, and placing his head on his hands, he waited for the professor's arrival.

ooc: I apologize for the lateness of starting the class. I was unexpectedly called away for some very important business and was not able to meet the posted start date. Thank you to the students who kept the spam down and to the prefects for holding the rest of the students over. Let's begin.

Professor Hutchinson dabbled with her notes for quite a while as the class quietly filled up. As soon as she felt ready, she stood from her desk and approached the front of the class.

"Good day, students. For those of you who don't know me, I am Professor Hutchinson and I'll be teaching you the subject of Astronomy. This term, I will be delving into the early history of space exploration centering around the NASA program. We will be covering the early achievements and the major strides that happened during the short span of time known as the Space Race. Now, who can tell me what NASA stands for?"

Si 04-30-2006 09:39 PM

Francesca raised her hand. She was american and NASA was such an american thing. She already knew what it meant when she was five years old. "NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration."

alyssaradcliffe-felton 04-30-2006 09:39 PM

"It means National Aerunautics and Space Administration" ALyssa with her hand rasied.

hermygirl 04-30-2006 09:39 PM

Hermy raised her hand. "NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration".

Yasminalina 04-30-2006 09:41 PM

McKenzie listened carefully. Then raised her hand and said, "NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration."

babydriver27 04-30-2006 09:49 PM

"Very good, class. NASA does indeed stand for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Which US President is credited with starting up NASA?"

Granger1814 04-30-2006 09:51 PM

Serena raised her hand. "Dwight D Eisenhower."

Taking Back Kirstie 04-30-2006 09:54 PM

Jacques sat at the back of the classroom. He wrote down notes occasionally and listened to what the other students were saying. Space flight had always interested him, more so the engineering side of it.

babydriver27 04-30-2006 09:54 PM

"No, not Eisenhower. Close, though. Anyone else care to take a guess?"

Yasminalina 04-30-2006 09:55 PM

McKenzie raised her hand and said, "President Dwight D. Eisenhower is credited for starting up NASA!"

Si 04-30-2006 09:55 PM

Francesca's hand went up again to answer the question. "John F. Kennedy is credited with starting NASA."

alyssaradcliffe-felton 04-30-2006 09:59 PM

Alyssa rasied her hand"John F Kennedy" she said hopefully.

ErinElizabeth 04-30-2006 10:01 PM

Erin raised her hand. "Harry Truman..." she said, unsure.

h.p. 04-30-2006 10:04 PM

"Professor, I thought it was Dwight D. Eisenhower?" asked H.P. uncertainly.

Pandalicious 04-30-2006 10:07 PM

Brittany sat quietly, taking notes on the class. She raised her hand, "President John F. Kennedy."

babydriver27 04-30-2006 10:15 PM

"Yes, President Kennedy was the answer I was looking for. In a speech made at Rice University in September 1962, Kennedy set a goal for the United States to have a man on the moon by the end of the 1960's. His ambitious view of the future paved the way for NASA to do just that.

"But, there was a painstaking amount of time, research and manpower involved in making that goal possible. The first major step in achieving that goal was the creation of a new program within NASA. What was the name of this program, class?"

ErinElizabeth 04-30-2006 10:18 PM

Erin raised her hand, a little more sure this time. "The Mercury Program," seh said.

Jacques raised his hand. He wasn't sure of the answer, but he thought he could at least guess.

"The Apollo Program Professor?"

alyssaradcliffe-felton 04-30-2006 10:21 PM

Alyssa made a face and raised her hand"The Apollo" she said hoping she was right.

h.p. 04-30-2006 10:24 PM

H.P. raised her hand and said "Project Mercury?"

Si 04-30-2006 10:25 PM

Francesca's hand went up again. She was never a know it all but today seemed like the perfect time to impress. "The Apollo program, I think."

hp_rocks_my_socks! 04-30-2006 10:28 PM

"Apollo" said Katie even though she had never learned about these kinds of things
