Celestina had to admit she was quite in shock to actually see unicorn parts being held by the Professor. Only true evil could possibly kill a Unicorn to get such items and Bucky wasn't sure she even wanted to know how the Professor got his hands on some. She sighed with relief when he announced they wouldn't actually be using any of the ingredients to brew potions. Celestina would have protested and probably gotten herself in trouble so the whole matter was avoided.

The girl took down a few quick notes to make sure she wouldn't be too behind on anything and continued to pay attention to the lesson.

Meghan looked at the things the professor held up and looked at them aprehensivly. She had never really seen parts of a unicorn that weren't still on the unicorn. It made her nervous especially the whole part about the cursed life thing. There was one thing she didn't quite understand though

"Professor," she said raising her hand,"if you have a cursed life from slaying a unicorn than how do you aquire the parts of them. I mean you would have to kill them for those parts wouldn't you?"

As she waited for his answer she continued to take down notes.

Emma had copied down everything that was said.

Natalie took down notes and payed attention to the lesson. Natalie wondered something and raised her hand before asking " I know that killing a unicorn makes the person pure evil and also sentenced to a cursed life if he drinks the unicorns blood but have the ministry some special or extrem penalties for killing a unicorn?"

Fancy was sitting in the front of the room and had an excellent view of the rare and beautiful objects Professor Branxton now held before the class. Fancy had to admit that she was disappointed that they weren't going to be brewing anything that day. Potions was her favorite class and she looked forward to it everyday. However, if they weren't going to brew anything, at least they would be learning about something as mysterious and wonderous as unicorns.

Fancy thought about the professor's question. Fancy had a pretty good idea of what the answer was, so she raised her hand timidly in the air and began to speak.

"Professor Branxton, we aren't going to be brewing anything with the unicorn hair, horn, hoof, or blood, because the unicorn is very difficult to catch, and the parts are very expensive. Also, there is nothing more evil than slaying a unicorn, so this probably means that the potions are very powerful. They are probably too advanced for our level yet." Fancy stopped speaking, hoping that she had comme at least close to the answer Professor Branxton was looking for.

Rave wrote down her notes as fast as she could. Soon she had two pages worth of notes. Rave heard one of the other students say that killing a unicorn gave you a cursed life. She raised her head and said "Pardon me if I'm wrong but I think its drinking unicorn blood that gives you a cursed life. Although killing one is horrible aswell."

Julie had no idea whats wrong with her cousin today or actually the past couple of days. She been acting weird lately since she has developed a liking to professor Branxton.
Julie looked at her cousin and pointed at her eyes with her index finger then pointed her finger at her cousin, hopefully Raven understood the message I have my eyes on you. Julie then turned and looked at the blackboard.

"You've all brought up some very good reasons why we don't brew potions requiring unicorn parts. First of all, they can be very hard to come by as many of them may require the death of a unicorn. Because of the rarity of these items, they are also quite expensive. However, these items may not be as impossible to get as you might think. The hair can be found in woods that unicorns inhabit. One of the previous gamekeepers here at Hogwarts was known to collect the hairs that he found caught on branches. Unicorn hair is probably the most common unicorn part to be found and thus, is the least expensive at approximately 10 galleons a hair.

"Unicorn blood can also be found, though one must be extremely lucky to find it as unicorns are rarely injured. Unicorn blood is only used in the most potent potions, all of which are dark in nature. It is extremely expensive and can only be found on the black market. So how and why, you wonder, do I have a few drops in my possession? The answer is quite simple. I aquired this vial from the Ministry of Magic. It was confiscated during a raid on a dark wizard's manor. I have it merely to show you what it looks like.

"Occassionally a unicorn might chip their hoof and one might be lucky enough to come across a piece of it. Like unicorn blood, it is more rare than hair but, not impossible to obtain without slaying the unicorn. It is another very expensive ingredient used in the most complex and advanced potions, though not all dark.

"Finally, we have the unicorn horn. This is an ingredient that does not require the slaying of a unicorn, though you might think so. Horns will typically cost between 20 and 30 galleons depending upon the market at the time of purchase. Horns are the next most common unicorn ingredient after hair.

"If you would like to learn more about unicorns, I must ask you to see the Care of Magical Creatures professor. I cannot do the subject of unicorns justice in this class. We will be focusing only upon the uses of unicorn parts in potions.

"Now I'd like to ask you what sort of potions do you think would require the use of these ingredients? Please be specific with which part you are discussing as potions rarely use more than one unicorn part."

Professor Branxton walked back around to sit down at his desk, folding his hands in front of him and intently watching his class.

"Maybe blood in a potion that cures people, because unicorn blood heals you, but then again it will heal you and curse you." Emma suggested thinking this was obvious. "And also in a love potion or potion of purity or peace or something like that. A unicorn is a very gentle, pure, and overall peaceful and good creature, so wouldn't it's parts be a cause for that in a potion?" Emma finished with a reutorical question.

Professor Branxton held up a hand as he overheard a side conversation. "Yes, Miss Stone you are correct. Take ten points for Slytherin. It is the drinking of unicorn blood which will lead to a cursed life because one has killed something pure and defenceless to save his or her own life. So, it isn't the killing itself which, is a crime punishable by time in Azkaban as well as a hefty fine. Now, if you would please not talk among yourselves while we're discussing other things in class..."

Emma wondered if the Professor had heard her answer. It had also said that unicorn's blood could give you a cursed life.

Julie raised her hand and said "Life-Preserving Potion, it uses unicorn blood"

Taylor took notes on everything that was said, being careful not to miss a word.

Emma had always been curious about the unicorn horns in the potions supplies shop so she couldn't wait to find out what they were used for.

Rose said,"People who practice the dark arts umm...might use unicornblood in a potion to curse or sort of poison an enemy. The hair may be used for er-a healing potion type formula?" Rose jotted everything the professor said in her notebook.

Victoria took more and more notes while waiting for the class to continue.

trying to catch up on what every one was saying, brenda wondered what type of potion these items could make.

Olivia took notes. She had no idea what kind of potion would requirre unicorn parts.

Chris thought and thought, but finally stopped, and finished his drawing of the 4 unicorn parts, and a fully shaded picture of a dead unicorn with a person laying ontop of it, drinking its blood. Good effect . . . this won't be too hard to remember with this picture he said to himself, looking aorund the classroom, then back at his parchment.

Romys quill scratched over her parchment at she wrote down her notes. She raised her hand and asked "How can we get unicorn blood? I would think it's nearby impossible!"

Luna took down notes and thaught for a moment before raising her hand
"would unicorn hair be used in strengthening potions because it is very strong?" she asked, she always awnsered questions with questions, it was a habit of hers, then it didnt sound stupid if she got it wrong

Susan sat down taking notes. She wanted to see her owl badly. She wondered if Ryan had replied.

Taylor raised his hand.. "Professor, wouldnt it be used to possibly make a type poison or possibly an elixer of life, even though you would have a cursed life?"

Olivia thought hard "Would it be used in something like an Exlier of Life or something to prevent death?' Olivia asked raising her hand.

Julie raised her hand and said "Professor, unicorn blood is used to increase the life span of a person if drinked raw or mixed in a potion, however their life will be sustained yet they will become caught between life and death. Julie paused to catch her breath and to continue on the next topic
"Unicorn hoof usually powdered used in potions because they have incredible healing abilities" Julie paused trying to recelect the other features.
