In his mind he's saying " “potions” were made by using herbs, plants, and other materials for a specific purpose, whether it be practical or magical as in hallucinogenics used to “open the mind” to perform difficult magic..... "Very good, very good. Potions is the study of brewing various concoctions using various ingredients and magical know-how. The range of uses for potions is as varied as your mind can imagine. All that is needed is the appropriate ingredients, mixed in the appropriate order and fashion and you can do just about anything. However, potions can also be a very dangerous magical pasttime. Any suggestions on why?" Professor Branxton frowned at those still chatting. "Before you answer my question, that's 5 points from Ravenclaw for starz's chatter. Also 5 points each to those who answered the previous question." Professor Branxton began taking notes to ensure those who answered received points.

Finaly she settled on an answer, raised her hand and said "Professor, brewing potions could be dangerous for several reasons. One being if you dont brew it right it might not have the disired effects and may cause some one to become poisoned."

"Exactly, one small mistake in potions can have drastic consequences. It could change an antidote into a poison or even cause harm to the brewer himself. I will not tolerate negligence in my class. Accidents happen but, you will be severely reprimanded if you are found to not be paying attention," Professor Branxton replied. "Now, there are many different ingredients that we will use but, one of the most common is ginger. Can anyone tell me what this ingredient is used for?"
