Headmistress Rae opened the door to her classroom and moved to open the windows as well. It was more than a little stuffy in there, and she wanted the air to circulate before the class began. She tidied her desk a little before opening the door to let the students enter the room.

"Ah... so now you can't be fooled. I don't find that to be a bad thing, do you?" She laughed. "Why don't you find a partner and practice the spell. Take turns... and after you're done, please use Finite Incantatem."

Once Eunice jotted this into her notes, she turned towards the others, trying to find a partner.

Jo giggled, "even if you did, it would make it a lot easier for Prof. Fox to explain what happened in Arithmancy today. Do you want to try to put the spell on me first?"

"Alright, I guess I'll try the spell on you first," Eunice began. She pointed her wand at Sabrina and commanded, "Muffliato." She looked at her partner, wondering if anything happened.

She glanced up, looking around the room. Suddenly a faint buzzing sound was heard. She looked at Eunice and gave her a thumbs-up. Then she said "Try saying something." She couldn't hear her own voice when she said this, so she waited until Eunice spoke.

"Is it working?" Eunice said, hoping that Sabrina couldn't hear her. She guessed that the thumbs-up was a good sign. "Blah blah blah..." she added, not knowing what else to say.

It was like someone flipped a switch and all of the sudden someone had managed to stuff a large wad of cotton in each ear without her noticing. Woah Jo thought, her face took on the same expression.

Meghan looked at Jo. “Did it work?” Oh wait she can’t hear me. “Finite Incatatum (sp)” When the spell had come off she asked, “Did it work?”

Eunice grinned. "Alright, I suppose it worked okay. Do you want to try it now?" She stepped back and withdrew her own wand.

She smiled. Clearing her mind, she pointed her wand and intoned. "Muffilato." She looked at Eunice and said "Yoo-hoo. Anyone in there? Oh, the funniest thing happened to me today. I was sitting on my bed and my kitten ran across my legs and I totally freaked out, flipping off of the bed." she giggled and waited for Eunice's reaction.

Then it happened. The buzzing in her ears that didn't stop. It was very annoying. Eunice saw Sabrina's mouth moving, but couldn't make out what she was saying. She shook her head and pointed to her ear to say that she couldn't hear her. It was quite comical seeing Sabrina's mouth move with nothing coming out, though.

She began laughing and then took off the spell. "You really couldn't hear me?" she asked, still gigglling. "Good thing. I really hoped you wouldn't have heard what I said."

Eunice cocked her eyebrow. "What did you say? Actually, nah, you don't have to tell me," she laughed. "Your spell worked really well," she added.

Sabrina laughed again. "Oh, I don't mind. I was just telling you the story about how I fell off my bed after my cat ran across my legs." she smiled. "Yeah, your spell worked great too!"
