The DADA classroom was opened. The desks were pushed to the front of the room so that there was plenty of open space in the back of the room. Rae entered the room and eyed the open windows that were letting in plenty of air and sunlight. It was such a mild day, perfect for a walk by the lake after class. Alone for sure.

That was really fun Taylor thought to himself. He got out his quill and parchment and waited for more instruction.

"Thank you my dear. You too," Fancy complimented Felisia. She was glad that Felisia had been paying attention, becaue Fancy had a feeling that had she not, she would have gone flying back a ways, and Fancy's intention was not to hurt Felisia.

Fancy took her seat, disappointed that they had to stop. She always enjoyed using her wand and doing magic. It was truly a passion of hers. She heard Felisia ask a very good question, and awaited Professor Rae's response.

Rae sat on her desk. "Now, we've learned a few basic spells, and there are loads of other Defense spells that we can, and probably will learn. I wanted to take the rest of the class to discuss the multitude of defense spells, however. If there are a few handy spells that will disarm and incapacitate your opponent or that will protect you from harm, why in the world do we spend so much time learning so many different spells that do so many different things?"

"There's lots of evil in this world," Eunice said. "So one spell isn't enough to counter all the evil spells that the darker wizards have made. We need more variety to have spells for different ways to protect and disarm. There isn't only one way to do these things."

Chantel raised her hands "professor it is important for us te learn new and different spells is because each spell is different and they all do different kind of harm or injury" She was satified with her answer.

Taylor raised his hand..."Because they are the most basic spells that everyone needs to know, and if you cant master these, you cant probably couldnt do any other spell." Taylor said hoping it was right

Meghan raised her hand. "Because we need to focus on our strengths and weaknesses. If there is a spell that we have difficulty with and another spell that we can use that we can perform faultlessly than we would want to choose the one we are better at..." Meghan trailed off grasping at any thought that didn't make her seem like a complete fool.

Davina thought for a moment."Professor it is because no two spells are xactly alike,no matter how similar they are,one may always be more powerful or less powerful than the other.It is the same with the defensive spells"

"I hear lots of good reasons, and they're all correct." She flicked her wand, and a list appeared on the board.

Reasons for Many Defensive Spells
* Need different spells do deal with different attacks
* To prepare for the unknown
* Practice with more spells leaves us better prepared to learn harder defensive magic
* Not always able to master every spell. The more we know, the more we carry into battle.

"Good... very good. Can anyone list for me some defensive spells we haven't mentioned yet?"

As all the students were calling our the name of the spells that we have not learned yet, chantel pulled out her parchment and quill and started taking notes and wrote down what the professor was saying about the defensive spells.
