The DADA classroom was opened. The desks were pushed to the front of the room so that there was plenty of open space in the back of the room. Rae entered the room and eyed the open windows that were letting in plenty of air and sunlight. It was such a mild day, perfect for a walk by the lake after class. Alone for sure. | |

Kalaya listened closely, taking notes. She hadn't really heard this before since she didn't know much about this subject. Her green eyes scanned the class for anyone she knew before looking back at the professor.

Jen finally stopped spacing out. So that's what protego means she thought happily to herself. Looking around the classroom she saw her friend kalaya taking notes. Jen laughed silently Kalaya was always a very serious student.

Kalaya spotted Jen and silently gathered herself and moved over so that she was sitting next to her. She waved, but didn't say anything because she didn't want to lose points for her house. She placed all her things about and tucked some of her brown hair behind her ear before waiting for the professor to continue.

If there was any indication that anything had happened, it might have been the slightest ripple of air, but she otherwise looked the same. "The shield charm raises a protective shield about the caster that will effectively repel any basic spells cast. It is pretty much invisible and can be easily permeated by any non-magical object. For example, it would block Expelliarmus, but it wouldn't keep you from being hit by something thrown at you. Why am I stressing that Protego only blocks basic spells?"

There are a variety of ways to defend yourself and protect yourself, and if you pin all your hopes on Protego, you'll get hurt. Very hurt. Kalaya grinned at Jen and quickly asked, "Partners?" She knew they were about the same experience level since Jen was a first year and she herself had never gotten a chance to attend the previous year.
