Des nodded at the professors answer to her question.

'Anyone who can communicate, understand, and follow magical law' she repeated to herself.

Des put her things away and took out her wand. She had realized quickly that DADA wasn't going to be her strongpoint, but that she must try her best to keep up with things.

Anelreas stacked her notes together and placed them inside her bag and promptly removed her wand from the inside of her robe. Her familiar darted under her seat when he caught sight of it.

Kalaya tucked away her parchment and quill and pulled out her wand. She wasn't sure if she should be excited or nervous, even though this was her 2nd year she had never had a chance to attend the class the previous year.

A smile growing on her lips, Isabella put away her belongings and pulled out her wand. It had remained quite unused so far. She was excited for whatever was to come.

Eunice instantly perked up. Stowing away her parchment and quill, she carefully took out her wand. Fiddling with it in her fingers, she waited intently for the professor to speak.

Kalaya looked around at the other students, trying to figure out how they felt about moving on.

Ok, wand time...

Jacob then finished up his parchment, put it away in his bookbag, and took out his wand.

Here we go.

"I know some of you are very experience duellers, but it never hurts to get a little practice in of the basics. I want us all to practice a little basic wand movement and incantation, just so we're clear. Very few of you are ready for the nonverbal commands, so clarity of speech and dictation are essential. I will always tell you wand movements and pronunciation when we learn new spells because they are so important. Everyone please rise and find a spot where they can freely move their wand."

Afton nodded and stood up. She made her way to the front and center of the room, right in front of the Professor.

Anelreas rose and moved to the back of the room, a window in front of her. If something went wrong, which would be strange since they were to be going over simply spells, the spell could simply go out the window.

Des stood from her seat and found a spot next to her desk, she rolled her shoulders and took hold of her wand.

'This is exciting!' she thought.

Serilda stood up; in her haste she knocked over her chair. "Drat!" she muttered. "Wingardium Leviosa!" She levitated the chair back on its feet and then turned to the professor to seek instruction.

Linnea stood, wand out, and found a place to stand, being sure that she wasn't too near the person next to her and readied herself for the first practical of the class....

Wand movement, never knew that was as important as saying the spell. Oh well, she's the professor, might as well find myself a space.

Jacob then made his way through and found an empty space, enough to move around in and moving his wand with ease without poking anyone.

Kalaya stood up and walked over to an empty area, not all the way in the back but it was towards the back. She clutched her wand and tucked her brown hair behind her ear as she waited for their next direction.

Her lavender eyes lighting up in anticipation, Bella jumped to her feet. Students came to their feet all around her. She barely reached her neighbors shoulder. Though she assumed he was several years her senior. The student on her other side coudln't be much older, and still towered over her.

Streightening up to her full height which remained a feeble four foot ten, Bella stretched her arms for a moment, then relaxed her wand arm at her side, turning her gaze once again to the teacher.

Julie stood up and found a space where she can practice next to afton. She smiled at her then raised her wand waiting for the Prof. to give the incantation

Ashley finished scratching down some notes, put her things aside, and stood up from her seat, reaching in her robe pocket to take out her wand. This class had never really been her strong point, yet the Hufflepuff girl wanted to continute her studies on it. She felt it would be very important when she, Ashley, becomes a teacher one day. What if a time comes when she needs to protect herself and her students?

She must be ready.

Ashley then looked around the room and moved towards one of the large windows of the class to give herself pleanty of space; she awaited further instruction.

Sabrina rose, walking toward a spot next to a fellow Gryffindor. She shot him a quick smile and then took a deep breath, pushing her hair out of her eyes and thought. Oh, boy, I hope I don't mess this up.

"Excellent. Now, you need to find a comfortable wand stance to use. I suggest planting your non-wandside foot, and keeping your wandside knee loose and flexible. Extend your wand arm, keeping it fluid. Don't lock your elbow." She waited as they positioned themselves. "You should hold your wand in the same hand you hold a quill. Keep your grasp firm, but loose enough that you aren't holding on for dear life. It won't slip out, I promise."

Serilda did exactly as she was told and got into a very comfortable stance for which she would and could use for dueling; she felt as though she could take on the world as she fixed her grip and concentrated.

Doing as the teacher had instructed, planting one leg where it lay, and relaxing the other, Bella flung her wand arm out, rather violently, sending her wand to fly across a few desks. She blushed red right up to the blonde roots of her short hair before she bounded after her wand. Picking it up once more, she returned to her old postion, attempting the stance the teacher had instructed for her second time.

Listening to the professor describe the wand stance it reminded Des of her days playing the violin. The way the wand was held sounded very similar to the way her instructors had taught her to hold her bow, firm but loose, fluid and strong.

She smiled at the thought and took her wand in her right hand, pretended it was her old bow and held it gracefully out in front of her.

'I guess this isn't that bad.'
