As opposed to her other two classes, Professor Mao-Macdougal actually looked relatively pleasant this morning. It might have had something to do with the fact that outside it was threatening to rain and there was a Flying lesson going on. You never knew, someone might get struck by lightning.

The real reason though, came to light. She was perched on her desk, her feet in their high-topped boots swinging lightheartedly, and she was smoking.

At the sight of the first student, Andi's pale face suddenly flushed and she stubbed the cigarette down onto her desk. There was a sizzling sound and the acrid smell of smoke drifted in the air.

She waved her wand and the smell was instantly covered by the musky scent of roses. Andi sighed and faced the eyes of her class - as if they mirrored her guilt. "Alright, first things first," she said in a husky voice, then she had to stop and cough hard. Her eyes were flashing furiously when she lifted her head.

"We're going to start on something simple today. The Summoning Charm. Easy and very useful." Andi sighed, and cleared her throat again. "We're going to try it wandless. So, wands on desk."

Katrina raised her hand "Causes an object to fly to the caster, even over quite some distance; the target object is said to have been Summoned. It would seem that the caster must know at least the general location of the object Summoned."

Nik looked a bit taken aback at her answer and then laughed when he got over the initial shock. He knew there was something about this professor he had liked.

He raised his hand again, more attentive this time, "The summoning charm, it's a spell to er...summon things to you, by concentrating on the object you wish to summon to you."

Andi turned in the Hufflepuff's direction slowly to show that she had indeed acknowledged it. "Accio," she said. "Yes, that's the spell. A point to the Ravenclaw girl," she indicated Katrina, "who gave me a good explanation of this basic spell." Actually, Andi was just glad she didn't have to bother with explaining it to the class.

"Associate yourself with other verbs," snapped Andi, her brow furrowing. She hated sloppy language. "There is a whole array, fetch, bring, call..." Andi trailed off, partly because she couldn't think of any more words. "Inform your mother to buy you a thesaurus."

Oh dear, those were the cigarettes talking. Unbidden, her eyes drifted to the top of the cupboard.

Well...

She did have to show them... red spots appeared on Andi's cheek, as she raised her hand, voice harsher than usual to hide the guilt. "I want you to think it in your mind, concentrating, on the object of your choice."

Her face set in an intense look for about half a second, and the cigarette case flew out, almost beaming a few students on the head.

Nik shrugged at AMMZ's reproachful answer, it was pretty funny but he wasn't going to laugh. But then she said something else, quite hurtful and he spoke up, "I do not have a mother. I suppose I will have to deal with using the word summon from now on."

Katrina placed her hands on her lap and closed her eyes, she sat up straight concentrating on one only object and letting everything esle erase from her mind this moment. She thought of her hairpin, she had dropped it and she was trying to summon it so she wouldn't have to get it herself.

There was a pause.

"How about your father then?" she offered. "I'm sure he could buy you a thesaurus."

Kay's left eye twitched as she saw Professor Mao-Macdougal summon the cigarette case. She told us not to let her get her smokes. Determination set in and she cleared her mind.

An intense look appeared on her face for a second and Kay focused on the cigarette case in the professor's hand.

Accio!

The cigarette case flew out of the professor's hand and landed on the desk 2 feet away.

Tas desperately thought about concentrating on her wand, but then pulled a marble from the previous transfiguration lesson out of her pocket.
Here we go, she thought and put it on the desk, but it rolled and almost fell of the table.
"Wayatra...", she said quietly and the marble turned into a hairpin... now that was a good object to concentrate on.

The professor stopped. "Who's your father anyway?" Andi resolved to look the old man up in the school register. Honestly. Didn't anyone in this school have a normal family? Certainly not her anyway...

Andi paused to tug a cigarette from her case when the whole thing just swooped away from her. Andi stood up sharply, looking livid, her attention gone from Nik. "Who did that?" she said, her voice shaking ever so slightly - like a knife just flung at a wall.

Ayumi pulled her thesarus out of her bag, she held it out towards Nik. She said softly, "You can borrow my thesaurus if you want."

Phoebe began to wonder what a house Elf was before remembering they were at Hogwarts. She continued back to concentrating.

Just then the cigarette case in AMMZ's hand sped past him and into the hands of a Ravenclaw. He smirked at her actions, it was too funny, even he had to admit.

Then a girl handed him a thesaurus, "err...thank you, but I really do not need one." he said with a slight blush, pushing the book back to her.

Katrina could see her hairpin perfectly in her mind. The next step was to think of the incantation and she did so she thought about it as clear as if she would say it. "Accio" She opened her eyes slowly and the hairpin was sitting on the table in front of her. She smiled proud of herself, took her hairpin and placed it back on her hair.

Stasia ducked as the cigrette case almost hit her in the head.She was starting to get annoyed by objects coming at her head.She raised her hand and asked,"May i please seat some where else.I seem to be in the lane of traffic here,and it;s really starting to freak me out.?"

Erin held back a giggle at a fellow ravenclaw summoning the professor's cigarettes, and the professor's reaction. She did say to stop her from smoking, didn't she? Erin took a deep breath, and tried to concentrate on summoning a quill from her bag.

Takes back the book. "Sorry, I thought maybe you wanted one." Gosh just shut up, Ayumi's brain screamed. Concentrate on your work. She gulmped and hoped that Professor Mao wouldn't hurt Kay, she looked awful angry.

Andi glared at Kay for a long, long minute. Then her anger shut down slowly as if it was been folded bit by bit and put away. "Ah yes," she said, in a painfully neutral voice, face blank. "And I promised ten points too, did I not? Well, ten points to Ravenclaw for following orders. And ten points off Ravenclaw for taking my things."

Andi pouted, and for a moment, she looked just like a sulky little girl.

She turned to her desk and concentrated on the quill lying before her. "Accio" she thought, nothing happned. Maybe it's more like 'Ah key o', or 'Ah chee oh', maybe it was 'Ae che o'. Oh yeah "Accio quill", then the quill jumped into her hands. "Yey", she clapped her hand joyfully.

Phoebe was quite confused but took down notes any way before raising her hand. "Sorry Proffesor but I am confused. Who is this count?" She asked nervously.

Kay's face was void of any emotion and she saw her wand sitting on the professor's desk. Fine! I did her a favor and the case is only 2 feet away from her! It's time for me to take my stuff back.

An intense look appeared for a split second on her face, and her wand zoomed across the room, landing in her open right hand.
