Professor Opteryx entered the classroom with a studious frown on his face, so deep in thought that he tripped on the leg of his desk and narrowly saved himself from an undigified sprawl on the ground.

Shaking his head with a small grin, he righted himself and waited for students to trickle in.

Julie walked into Ancient runes class just as professor Optryx lifted himself of the ground, she passed by him and said "Hello professor, are you alright?".
And sat down in the front row eyeing him carefully.

"I'm fine, but I may need to get myself a pair of specs," Opteryx chuckled, moving to his desk and pulling open a drawer, where he pulled out several ovallish pieces of wood.

Julie giggled at the professor then saw him pull something out of the desk then said "Woow what are these Professor?... Are these.. Are these runes alphabets engraved on wood?" Trying to eat the wood pieces with her eyes

Sebastian entered the room and smiled at the professor. Barely anyone was available. It surprised him, but he sat down and took out his books.

"You'll see soon enough," Professor Opteryx said. "But first let's wait for your classmates to arrive."

Julie nodded and hoped to get some patience in her to waite until other students arrived.
She got her books out, and placed them on the desk. She then kept eyeing the porfessor movements. She thought they were more interesting.

Rave walked into her favorite class and sat in a desk in the front row to wait for the lesson to begin.

Emma entered the classroom, she starred at whatever her teacher was clutching, some king of carved wood. After a few minutes, she finally broke out of her usual daydreaming. She walked to the back of the class and sat down in her usual seat, she took out her books and leaned her head against the table, hoping to get a little sleep before the class started.

Taylor walked into the classroom and chose a seat in the front. He got out his blue quill and a few rolls of parchment, then focused his attention to the professor.

Heshasa walked in and chose a seat near the back. Taking out her quill and parchmant Heshasa moved them to the side and stared at the professor waiting for class to begin.

Christy walked inside the Ancient Runes classroom, stumbling over a few things along the way but really paying no attention, anymore. With a heavy sigh, she sat in a desk at the back of the classroom and waited quietly for class to begin.

Linnea walked in, found a seat and sat down, waiting for class to begin. This was one of her worst subjects, she knew, but....she had to try it.

"Alright, I think we're ready to begin. Last time we talked about the origin of runes and their writing system. I hope you've all spent some time getting familiar with the symbols, because that's what we'll be discussing for the rest of the term--the symbols and the properties of each one."

"Now, I have here a few runes that we'll be going through in class today." Opteryx held up one for the class to see:

"Who can tell me what rune this is and give me a short answer as to what it stands for?"

Rave raised her hand and answered" That Rune is FEHU. The Rune of Wealth and Fulfilment."

Christy raised her hand and answered "That rune is Fehu, it means cattle, a measure of wealth to the ancients and emotional and spiritual riches, as well as money"

"Three points each to Rave, Christy and Taylor," Opteryx said. "Two points to Julie for knowing the meaning of the rune. "Fehu indeed means 'cattle', and this relates to wealth because of the heavy reliance on agriculture--farming, that is--in ancient society. Fehu also represents possessions won or earned and thus also material gain."

"The rune may be linked to Frey, the God of Wealth, or Freya. Oxen were sacrificed to Frey, as detailed in Gisli's Saga and Viga-Glum's Saga. Fehu is aligned to the elements of fire and earth and the astrological sign of Aries."

Taylor scribbled down some notes in his neat cursive handwriting, then refocused his attention to the teacher eager to the next fact.

Christy wrote down every word that came out of Professor Opteryx's mouth. Shee knew Runes could be complicated so she tried to be as silent and as attentive as she could be.
