Hogwarts RPG Name: Arianna[Ari] Marie Havoc First | Heshasa wrote down the instructions to the potion it didn't seem to hard. Taking out her cauldron and kindling a fire under it Heshasa glanced at her notes walking up front and getting the slugs Heshasa checked her water temperature and amount of water, amking sure there was 500ml Heshasa poured her slugs in and waited ten minutes for them to reheat...
After ten minutes Heshasa glanced once again at her notes add nettles and stir clockwise for five minutes. She began to stir clockwise. After five minutes Heshasa saw her potion looked correct so far...
Pulling out some snake fangs she added them in after precisley 5 minutes, she began to stir counter-clockwise for seven minutes...
Llet boil for ten minutes siting back down she watched her watch making sure not to go over time...After ten minutes Heshasa took the potion off the fire...stir clockwise for two minutes...Standing back up Heshasa began to stir once again.
Adding the porcupine quills she stirred it five times each way. After the potion cooled she ladeled it into ehr potion vial and brought it up to the front desk. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Maximus O. Vindictus III First Year | No Touchy! ♥ demented_teacher Kay carefully copied down the Boil Cure Potion ingredients and brewing instructions, and then re-read her list, making sure that she did not make a mistake copying down the information. She sat her notes to one side and reached into her potions kit, removing a vial of dried nettles, a vial of snake fangs, and a vial of porcupine quills - these were placed on the workspace in front of her. She then took out a mortar and pestle, two small measuring beakers, a large spoon, a ladle, and one sterile vial - these too, were placed on the workspace. Reading over the directions once again, Kay gathered her cauldron and walked over to the sink, filling her cauldron with 500 mL of water. She then carried her cauldron over to the table where the stewed horned slugs were located. She selected 4 of the horned slugs, placed them in the cauldron, and returned to her workspace. Kay sat her cauldron on the small stand that each workspace contained, and used her wand to light a fire beneath it. As soon as the fire was lit, she started her timer. While the slugs were reheating, she crushed several snake fangs using her mortar and pestle. Kay placed the crushed snake fangs in one of the measuring beakers until the ingredients reached the 0.2 g line. In the other measuring beaker, she carefully measured out 2 g of dried nettles. She placed both beakers to one side and put the respective vials, mortar and pestle back into her potions kit. Time was up! Kay picked up her large stirring spoon with one hand and the beaker containing the dried nettles with the other. She added the nettles to the reheated horned slugs and began to stir in a steady clockwise motion. As she stirred, she kept her eye on the timer which was set for five minutes.

She re heated the horn slugs, and by the time she was ready to move on to the next step she noticed that a girl from slytherin was already turning her potion in. "Wow, I must be working really slow if people are already finishing", she said.

She carefully filled the vial, labeled it

Hogwarts RPG Name: Laurasia Malfoy Third |
Laurasia had been smiling since the beginning of class. She knew that they were going to be brewing the Boil-Curing potion today & she had learned how to brew this potion last term. She figured that this class would be very relaxed due to that fact.
She went to the front of the class & retrieved her 4 needed hornslugs before beginning the brewing process. She added them to the water in her cauldron & ,using her wand, employed the "Relashio" charm to heat the brew for 10 minutes. After she was finsihed with that part she added the 2 grams of nettles & began the 5 minutes of stirring. She made sure not to stir the brew too vigorously in order to fascillitate the absorbtion of the nettles.
Once she was finished, she pulled out her pestle & mortar & thoroughly crushed her snake's fangs before adding them to the cauldron. She started stirring them for the necessary 7 minutes, be sure to only stir them counter-clockwise. Once she was finished with that, she allowed the brew to boil on the fire for 10 minutes. She took notes during this time, being sure to check that the potion was not boiling over.
After the 10 minutes were up, she removed her cauldrom from the fire & placed it on top of a heat-proof pad upon her desk. She stirred the potion clockwise for 2 minutes, she then added her 3 porcupine quills. She stirred the brew 5 times clockwise & then 5 times counter-clockwise. She continued to take down notes, as she allowed the potion to cool.
After some time, she checked the brew to be sure that it was cool enough for bottling. Seeing that it was, she pulled out her ladle & poured it into a clean vial. She quickly capped the vial & labeled it... Quote:
Laurasia Malfoy
Slytherin - 2nd Year
Boil-Cure Potion
She quickly & quietly took her vial up to the front desk & then returned to her own desk to begin cleaning out her cauldron.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Elijah Wilde Graduated | Farmer Carter | | Ama's Secret Lee was pleased to see that they were going to be brewing a potion today. He hadn't done this in a few terms. Just for his own reference, Lee copied down the instructions and the ingredients from the board onto a spare piece of parchment.
Once satisfied with his notes he slowly got up and pulled his bottled ingredients from his bag. He had the required nettles, snake fangs and horned slugs but appeared to be two porcupine quills short. Deciding the Professor wouldn't mind if he borrowed some of his stock without his asking he walked to the cupboard and came back two porcupine quills richer.
He looked at his instructions and realised that his horned slugs would be no use to him since they had to be stewed. Looking up he saw stewed horned slugs up front. He went up to the table and took four from the remainder of slugs left. Now he truly was ready.
He took his measuring jug and measured a volume of 500ml of water and then placed it into his cauldron. He slowly placed the slugs into the cold water and then started a fire underneath for the slugs to be reheated in a space of ten minutes.
Lee decided it would be best to keep a potions journal so that he knew what he had done exactly so that if any mistakes were made he would know how to find them. Once his journal was updated and he had ensured that his nettles were dried, and not another brand, he placed them in the mixture and then began to stir clockwise for a further five minutes, like stated in the instructions.
Once the five minutes were up, he again updated his journal. Next came the snake fangs which had to be crushed. Placing on his Dragon-Hide gloves and taking a knife from his Potions kit, he placed one of the sides of the knife on the fang and put his weight into pushing it down. Surely enough they were soon crushed. He measured 0.2 grams of the ingredient and then placed it into the cauldron along with the rest of the stirring mixture. Lee stirred the half-made potion for seven minutes, this time counter clockwise.
All seemed to be going good so far, so once Lee had updated his journal for a third time he looked at his instructions once more. It appeared that he had to wait. So he updated his journal of his completion of step four and then removed the cauldron from the fire when the time was up. Before he moved onto the next instructions he made sure the flames where exstinguished.
Looking at the instructions at step five, which involved a lot, he began to stir the cauldron clockwise for a further two minutes. He then placed the three porcupine quills into the almost completed soloution and stirred it five times clockwise, then a further five counter clockwise.
Lee waited for his potion to cool down and used his time wisely by finishing the section of his Potion's journal on this particular potion. Once Lee was able to touch the cauldron pot without his fingers being burnt he had decided it was cool enough. Pulling out a ladle he carefully scooped up the liquid and slowly dribbled it into a vial. Removing a black crayon he had purchased from the apothecary he wrote on the vial :
'Lee Andrez
Boil Cure Potion
Hufflepuff'
He took the vial up to the front and handed it to the teacher. Once he had returned he began to clear up his mess by placing un-needed and non re-useable ingredients in the bin, pouring the rest fo the potion into a nearby sink and then cleaning and putting away his equipment. Once he was happy with what he had done he rested his head upon the desk, his bad day seemed to have mysteriously disappeared since he had begun to create the potion.

- 4 horned slugs (stewed)
- 3 porcupine quills
Instructions:
1) place horned slugs (provided up front- stewed overnight) in 500 mL water and reheat for ten minutes
2) add nettles and stir clockwise for five minutes
3) add snake fangs and stir counter-clockwise for 7 minutes

5) stir clockwise for two minutes then, add porcupine quills and stir five times clockwise then, five times counter clockwise
6) allow potion to cool then, ladle into a vial, label it, and bring it to the front desk He wrote them down carefully in his book, then set about making the potion. He added the ingredients in order and double checked the instructions at each step. He didn't want any accidents to happen to his potion by him missing an instruction. Nearly an hour later he decided the potion was cooled sufficiently, so he placed some into a vial, delivered it to the Professor's desk and took his seat.

Rosa went up to the front to get her slugs and after fillin her cauldron with 500 ml water she put it on the fire. then she looked at her watch to make sure she wouldn't boil the slugs too short. she started measuring and preparing the other ingredients and when she'd crushed her snake fangs the ten minutes were nearly over.
She added the nettles and started stirring clockwise. after five minutes she added the crushed snake fangs and started stirring counter-clockwise. when 7 minutes had passed on her watch she put her cauldron off the fire and continued with stirring, but clockwise this time. as soon as the two minutes were over, she added the porcupine quills and started stirring, 5 times clockwise and 5 times counter-clockwise. She looked at the instruction when she was in her third series of clockwise stirs to see how long she had to do this. But it didn't say so. So that meant she'd stirred too often... she decided to finish her last 3 counter-clockwise stirs and then pulled her stirring rod. She got a vial out of her bag and wrote on a label: 'Rosa Ivory
Boil-cure potion'
then she started cleaning up her desk, checking her potion every now and then until she thought it was cool enough. She filled her vial with it and after putting a cork on it, put it on the fron desk and walked back to her desk. she emptied her cauldron in a sink and filled it with water again, holding the equipments she'd used under the tap. Then she poured the water out of the cauldron and put her equipment in it, looking up at the front desk. She'd probably blown this potion.

After ten minutes passes, Martha removes her potion from the fire, and stirs clockwise for two minutes. Then she adds the right amount of porcupine quills, stirs five times clockwise and then five times counter clockwise. Finally, she allows the potion to cool and puts it in an empty vile and labels it: Quote:
Name: Martha Johnson
Potion: Boil Cure Potion
House: Ravenclaw
She then takes it up to the Professor and returns to her table. She cleans up and organizes her supplies and waits for further instructions.

Patrick went to the front for his 4 horned slugs. He placed them in the cauldron with 500 mL water so they could reheat. He used a bluebell flame charm to start his fire. Then he flipped his five minutes timer over and began prepping his other ingredents. When the five minutes had pasted he flipped it again since the horned slug needed to reheat for a total of ten minutes.
When the timer emptied for the second time Patrick added the nettles and again flipped the timer. He began to stir clockwise. When last grain of sand fell, he added the crushed snake fangs and turn his two minute timer. Patrick's parents had made sure he had a set of times for one, two, three and five minutes. He stir counter-clockwise and when the two minute timer was finish he flipped the five minute timer.
When that timer was finished Patrick allowed the mixture to boil for ten minutes. He put out the flame and stirred for two minutes. He added the quills stirring first 5 times clockwise then 5 times counter-clockwise. While his potion cooled he labeled his vials and cleaned up his motar and pestal, his scales and his weights. Then taking his silver laddle his poured the cool potion into the vials. He corked it and took it to the front. Quote:

| Double Agent Stamps! Terry finds Professor Braxton's nervous habit of constantly cleaning his glasses fascinating. Professor Fox does the same thing. Funny two people from different backgrounds would have the same nervous habit. Terry knows she finds the oddest things intersting, but it helps to understand people better by understanding their weird habits. After Professor Braxton finishes explaining today's lesson, Terry gets her cauldron and other supplies out, and then proceeds to get some water out of the tap. Since the directions did not call for special water, she assumes the tap water will be okay. She place her caudron over the open fire and proceeds to pour the water in. While it is boiling, she goes up front and gets her 4 horned slugs. They are resting in a large cauldron on the professor's desk. Using a laddle, Terry captures four of these slippery creatures. Stewing the slugs really causes them to fall apart making it difficult to get a whole one. Terry hurries back to her desk seeing has her water is about to boil over. She takes out her wand and performs a cooling spell to prevent this from happening. Terry then pours her stewed, horned slugs into the water and brings it back to a boil. While the mixture is boiling for ten minutes, she measures out her dried nettles two grams to be exact. Exact measurements are important in potion making. Too much dried nettles and the potion is liable to explode or some other terrible thing occur. Seeing as this is Terry seventh year at Hogwarts, she is an old hand at potion making. She shouldn't have any trouble making such a simple potion. With the ten minutes up, Terry adds her dried nettles and stirs the mixture clockwise for five minutes. After the five minutes is up, she removes the potion from the flame and crushes her snake fangs. The professor said to add .2 grams. Terry isn't exactly sure how to measure .2 grams, so she does the best she can. She adds the snake fang to the mixture and stirs it counter-clockwise for 7 minutes. Nothing too serious happens, so Terry assumes she measured the snake fangs right. After the mixture has boiled for ten minutes, Terry removes it from the fire, stirs it clockwise for two minutes, and adds the three porcupine quills. After this she stirs the mixture five times clockwise, the five times counter clockwise. After this the potion is suppose to cool and then she needs to laddle a sample into a vial for grading. Terry turns her back to the cauldron to get a vial and her laddles when the mixture starts to explode sending potion oozing out of the cauldron onto the floor and the table. "Oh dear, I was afraid I had put too much snake fangs into it. Terry whips out her wand and says evanesco over and over in her mind. That makes the potion on the floor and table disappear, but what to do about the potion that is still erupting out of the cauldron. "Professor Braxton, could you come here, please, now! I'm in desperate need of your help." Terry continues to use the evanesco spell to make the potion that is falling out of her cauldron disappeared, but the extra snake fangs seems to be encouraging the potion to multipy at an alarming rate.

| Technically technical all the time Bookaholic Professor Branxton heard the cried from one of the students and hurried over to see what the problem was. He saw what was happening before he got there. "Back away and stop using that charm," he demanded before turning around and heading for the store cupboards. He found exactly what he needed immediately and brought the vial over to the leaking cauldron. Doyle sprinkled the gray powder over the potion and it immediately stopped oozing.
"Please take your things, except the cauldron, and move to the front of the classroom. Do not touch anything," he warned and stood there waiting for her to leave, not trusting her around the concoction she'd brewed.

Nadia felt an explosion somewhere and turned around to see. It was coming from Terry's Weasley's cauldron, which was spitting potion pieces everywhere. Nadia got just in time to withdrawl he wand and perform protergo at one that was going her way. Without being able to perform it everywhere, and because it was hitting other students cusing purple boils, Nadia could only think of one thing to do and tried to cover it in bands like a cauldron mummy. It was melting, then bands, so she performed more and more bands. (ooc: arg, nvm)

| -emi read and re-read the instructions. by the time she was sure he could do the thing properly, she realised how far behind she was- oh crap! -she hurried to the front of the room and collected her slugs, she then returned to her cauldron and began- oh man oh man...i hope i don't screw up...but this is a fairly easy potion... i don't think i can. -when her slugs were done reheating, she added the nettles and started stirring- stir clockwise five minutes...oi...seems to take forever....-at long last the five minutes ended and she added her snake fance- counter clockwise, 7 minutes...goodness...-stirring obviously wasn't this ginger haired girl's favourite thing to do- okay...allow mixture to boil for ten minutes then remove from fire...alrighty. -she took a seat and set a timer and took out a good book- *beeep!bbeeeep!!* hoight! -she dropped her book and took her cauldron away from the fire- stir clockwise, two minutes, 'ere we go...then add porcupine quills and stirr five times clockwise -she did so as she spoke- one two three four five...and five times counterclockwise one two three four five... allow potion to cool then ladle into a vial, yada yada yah...okay...-she returned to her seat and labeled the vial first: [emily rose, seventh year gryffindor, boil cure potion] she then returned to her cauldron and ladled her potion into her vial- that was easy enough...except i'm a bit spaztic....-she took the vial to the professor- here you are, professor. i hope it's everything you wanted it to be. -she smiled and handed him the vial, then returned to her seat-
ooc: i realized that i had completely missed one step and returned to correct it. go me!

Luna followed the directions on the board, and smiled as the potion came out correctly. There was a little bubbling in the beginning that had worried her, but she had fixed it...somehow. Luna pulled out her pink ink and labeled it: Quote:

She smiled at it, then cleaned up and left. Smiling and waying goodbye to the teacher.

Jaren had just stepped back from completing the last few stirs of his potion and was in the process of letting it cool when Terry's cauldron effectively exploded. Lucky for him that he was in the row behind her, but he still had to duck and retreat two rows back until Professor Braxton had the situation under control.

Even though it had been ages since he had last had a class with Airlia, it still felt a little strange to him to be taking Potions from someone other than her. Because of this, he had been silent throughout class, busily taking notes and reviewing old notes from prior terms.
As for their current potion, he had just added the porcupine quills and stirred 5 times clockwise and 5 times counterclockwise and was waiting for the potion to cool before taking a sample.
Terry's potions mishap surprised him a bit because Terry had always been a good potions student; perhaps today was just a day of mishaps? In the back of his mind, he mused over what had possibly gone wrong to create such a reaction.
As he waited for his potion to cool, he reviewed the instructions and pondered. Quote:

2) add nettles and stir clockwise for five minutes
3) add snake fangs and stir counter-clockwise for 7 minutes
4) allow mixture to boil for ten minutes then, remove from fire
5) stir clockwise for two minutes then, add porcupine quills and stir five times clockwise then, five times counter clockwise
6) allow potion to cool then, ladle into a vial, label it, and bring it to the front desk

| Technically technical all the time Bookaholic "Thank you," he said as she departed. He gazed down at the mess and cleaned the now inert potion with a flick of his wand. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he walked back to the front of the classroom, his eyes darting around the room, apprehensively. He could stand this for a few more minutes, long enough for the rest of the students to finish their potion.
