Professor Virohsa opened the classroom once more. She walked towards her desk and waited for the students to start to arrive. She drummed her fingers softly on the desk, as she kept a close eye on her pocket watch.

ooc- this will be open today, tomorrow, and saturday. It will be closed on saturday and that will be the end of class. So check this thread often because the class will be held throughout these three days. It is quite possible that it lasts less. But for sure, I will close it on Saturday regardless of where we are.

Athena walked into the sunny Herbology classroom, with many books in her hands. She took a seat and sorted through them, waiting for class to start. Occasionally, she put away a book or piece of parchment into her pack.

Finally all of her sorting was done. She then took out things need for this class and relaxed. She looked around at other students who were entering the class.

Lee skipped into the Greenhouses, quite eager for another Herbology lesson which was quite strange... for Lee anyway. His new enthusiasm however didn't drive Lee from his usual seat at the back of the class. He got out his belongings and placed them on the desk, waiting for the others to arrive so class could begin.

Kass walked into the greenhouses. weren't many people there. she looked about ans saw lee getting out his stuff for class. she agjusted her book bag on her back and walked over to him "hey there mind if i sit with you" she said smiling as she took off her bag from her back.

Nadia walked inside the classroom and took a seat in the front. Like with Arithmancy, since using the blackboard, she preferred it this way. While waiting for class to start, she took a couple of things from her bag and checked some notes.

Alex entered the Herbology classroom and gave Professor Virohsa a polite nod and a small smile. She was easily becoming the girl's favourite teacher.

Hurrying between the seats, she found her usual place at the back of the classroom and sat down quietly.

Laurasia entered the classroom with her usual smile planted firmly on her face. She found her seat & beamed at Professor Virohsa. "Good day, Professor."

She was happy that the new Herbology class was finally beginning. She always did enjoy Herbology class. She always knew that she was definately going to learn something new in this class.

Professor Virohsa smiled as the children were filling in the seats. "Good morning", she said to Laurasia.

She looked around the class, wondering if she should wait for it to get a bit filled.. or start class right away.. .Deciding reviewing wouldnt hurt, she decided to start class.

"Very well. Just to give you the global picture.. This year we are focusing on recognizing plants according to Greek Philosophy's elements. Fire, Water, Earth, and Air", she stated to the class. "So far, we have addressed a couple of these elements.. And today, we shall talk about the two remaining ones. Before, I begin, does anyone have any questions about last class or the homework?", she inquired.

Zekke settled into his chair and listened to the professor as he took out his notebook and quill.

Recalling the vials he had helped to take to the Poison Cell, he raised his hand. "Actually, I was wondering what the leaves and seeds we collected last class will be used for."

Professor Virohsa nodded. "Those seeds and leaves will be used during your final exam. And sadly, those of you presenting the NEWTs will not be exempt of such exam. Take it.. as your practice exam for your Potions and Herbology NEWTs", she added with a small grin. "Any other questions?"

Kay prepared her parchment for notes and quickly wrote down what Professor Virohsa had just said regarding the final exam. At least she didn't need to worry about her NEWTS for another year.

Noel tried to listen attentively to the professor, she couldn't help feeling a little ashamed at the fact that she loathed herbology, and her head of house taught it. She wrote the four elements of the ancient world on her parchment and waited for class to commence.

Nadia gulped and took some notes. Yes, she was already taking notes. It was probably a nervous tick. Bitting her lip, just to look more nervous, she tried to ease her breathing and...

"Professor," she asked raising her hand, "Will the final exam include us to recognize the element of the earth, water, air and fire plants?"

Peony took a seat at the back of the class, her black hair tickling her eyes again. She brushed it out of her eyes, and concentrated on the Professor. Exams didn't really frighten Peony. She had a fatalistic approach - though she did have a tendency to pray to all and any Gods who might have been listening.

What happens if they're so busy arguing over who gets to help you that they forget altogether?

Peony pursed her lips. That's a metaphysical speculation, and like all metaphysical speculations, have very little to do with real life. She was pretty proud of her glib answer, but forgot that when she read, so did the Voice.

Gah. It's better than going in alone with nothing.

Studying would help.

Shuffling the pieces of parchment in front of her, Nabiya let slip a tiny smile thinking, "oh,thank Merlin i dont have OWLs or NEWTs this year...being in the 6th rocks!"

Finding the last notes she had jotted down from the previous class, Nabiya sat, her quill at the ready to take down anything important, which is practically everything the professor said anyway.

Professor Virohsa nodded, "Well.. there will be some identification going on.. but mainly, you will get to use what you did during your final exam... Since herbology is more than recognizing plants, during the final you can expect to be able to mold your work into a specific type of medicine", she nodded. "I hope you have all done the reading on the medicinal uses of the plants we have seen so far", she added. The class seemed a bit restless.

"Are there any other questions about the final or about last classes?", she inquired.

shaking her head "no", nabiya sat eagerly awaiting the beginning of the class. tapping her shoe on the ground soundlessly in a rhythm nobody but herself (and maybe the moles) could hear.

Professor Virohsa smiled. "Very well!", she saild loudly.. to kinda wake up the class. "To recall what we talked about in our first class.. The element of fire is importan to herbology due to its transformative properties. For example, we use fire to light beneficial herbal incenses. Fire is also used in conjunction with water to brew herbal plants into potions & other such substances. Similarly, the element of air is important to plants for its cleansing qualities. Like other living things, plants breathe air. They use air to transform pollutants within themselves which are later re-released or to create their own type of food.", she explained. She looked around and saw a lot of the students scurrying to copy down notes.

"That brings up to today's class.. We shall start with Fire based plants", she said loudly. With that, she took out her wand and the blackboards showed two very different plants. "Who can tell me what flower this is?", she inquired.

IC note for your information: The yellow flower is the one you see in the plants you will be working with.
