Professor Virohsa unlocked the door and walked slowly towards her desk. All of the tables were empty so far, except for the tables holding two very different types of plants, as well as water pitchers and so on.

Professor Virohsa sat down on her chair as she waited for all of the students to arrive.

Walking inside the Herbology classroom, Alex gave Professor Virohsa a quick nod. Carefully, she scanned the classroom and realized that she was indeed one of the first people there. She noticed that most of the tables were empty, except for two. On one of them there were plants and on the other a few water pitchers.

Quickly, she walked towards at back of the classroom and took her usual seat. She took out a piece of parchment and a new quill and shoved the bag under her desk, making sure no one could trip over it.

Her gaze was set on the Professor. "What kind of plants are those, Professor?" she asked, curiously.

Kelli walks in and looks around. She takes her seat and takes out her notes from last class and starts looking over them. She has no clue if she will need them but looks over them just in case.

Noel entered the classroom, she had never taken Herbology before. She hoped the lesson wouldn't be too hard.

Professor Virohsa shrugged. "That is one of the things that you will be telling me", she replied with a smirk.

She glanced at the students walking inside her classroom and decided she would wait for a couple more minutes before starting the class.

Ginn came skittering into Herbology, just having remembered there was class today.


She looked sheepishly over at the professor and said "Hello Professor Virohsa, sorry 'bout that. Don't usually make such an entrance."


She picked out a seat near the middle and got her things in order and waited.

Karen walks into the Greenhouse and sits down towards the front of the classroom. She notices that the tables were filled with unfamiliar plants. Karen pulls out some blank parchment, ink, and her quill, leaving her wand in her bookbag where it could easily be found.

Alex raised her eyebrow only slightly at the Professor's smirk. Hey, it was just a question. Although, by now, she was rather used to Professor Virohsa's attitude and just prefered not to care anymore. Truth was, Virohsa could be nice when she wanted to. But maybe she didn't want to be very often ...?

"Fascinating," she replied slowly, her eyes still glued to the plant. She took her gaze off it for a few seconds, to watch more students enter the classroom. She also noticed Noel coming in. Her eyes rested on her again, for a second and then she looked back up at the Professor.

"Are we going to have out of class work after this class, like we did last time? I rather enjoyed it," she said slowly. "Except for those big plants that almost ate my head off," she added, frowning slightly.

Julia enters the classroom and takes a seat towards the back. She pulls out her materials with a long sigh and lets her eyes wander the room.

Erica rushed inside the classroom with flushed cheeks and windswept hair, wondering if she made it in time. Seeing the professor still waiting for more students to come in, she breathed a sigh of relief and quickly found one of the remaining empty seats, doing her best to catch her breath before pulling out the necessary materials for the lesson.

Heshasa walked in seeing that class still had not started took a remaining empty seat. Taking out her supplies she sat attentivly and waited for class to start.

Professor Virohsa nodded. "We always have extra credit work at the end of class. Unlike last class, however, this time we will be able to work with the plants in class. Perhaps, you will find that a bit more interesting".

Professor Virohsa surveyed the class. "Very well. We can start now. I expect you are all refreshed on our earlier conversation regarding Greek Philosophy. The reason we are studying philosophy in terms of plants this term is taking a bigger step towards understanding plants and its uses. There will be a time when all you have to survive is your knowledge and your ability to discern your surroundings. So, we shall start by giving you a background in how to determine what plants are what and for what uses", she stated loudly.

"Please open your books and look at the footnotes regarding water and earth philosophy. Become acquainted with those definitions and when you are studying your plants in a few minutes, think about those definitions. Because it will be those definitions that will tell you how to use your plant", she explained slowly.

"Any questions before we proceed into the reading?.. And don't worry, I will take you through the definitions and will parallel them as we continue to work on the plants."

Ginn pulled her Herbology book in front of her and opened it up to read.


She was never the greatest at Philosophy and hoped she would get through the term in Herbology if she had to learn it.


She gazed at the definitions for awhile, trying to get the exact meaning of them until Professor Virohsa stopped them.

"I always find your classes interesting, Professor Virohsa," Alex replied simply and listened intently for the rest of the Professor's instructions. After she was done talking, she bit her lip for a second and thought.

"Professor, are we going to be working with plants that bite, as well?" she asked, her eyes wide and her hand waving in the air. UGH, the thing she hated the most. "It's not that I am afarid of them or anything, I just -- well, they are not the most pleasing thing around," she added, as an after-thought.

None the less, the class should be fun.

Roxanne opened her book and sighed quietly. Herbology wasn't her greatest subject and Philosphy too. 'I hope I can get through this...' She thought as she read the definitions.

Someone had asked the professor about plants that bite. Roxanne glanced at the girl who said it and then focused her eyes on the professor. The girl was right about those kind of plants, they really are not the best things around. She closed her eyes for a moment and wished that she would get through everything this year.

Jaren flipped his book open to the correct page and stared hard at the words, as if attempting to maintain a strong grip over his concentration. In was perhaps in Herbology where his grip on the subject matter tended to be looser than he would like it.

Professor Virohsa listened to Alex speak without raising her hand. Since she was not giving out points, she decided to not take any points away since she had not raised her hand.

"Not biting plants, however, one of them is poisonous. Do not worry much, I will walk you through it.. You should be ok as long as you have your protective gear such as earmuffs and gloves", she explained.

Seeing that some of the students were reading, she refrained from continuing her lecture. As soon as they appeared to have finished, she began to review their lecture.

"Very well, lets review the main points. Water, although a necessary element, is not stable. Earth, on the other hand, is the most stable substance there is. That is not to say that Earth is not necessary. Earth, like water, performs an important function in our surviging system. That is why, we are revieweing these two substances together. Any questions regarding that before we move into our plants for today?", she asked the class.

Earmuffs and gloves--that could only mean one thing.

Mandrakes.

Jaren eyed the plants on the desks warily and mentally trying to remember what he'd learned about them in First year.

Alex had both those things inside her bag, so after the Professor was done talking she shook her head, and waited for class to begin.

Wait -- there was one thing. Her hand shot high up in the air and she spoke. "Professor, what about safety precautions? Are the earmuffs and the gloves enough? What happens if we get bitten or whatever these plants do, by mistake? How do we reverse or cure the effect? What happens to us?"

She was asking all the questions at once, it was rather hard for her to even follow her own voice.

"Or are we supossed to be the ones answering those questions?" she blinked.

'Hmm....I knew I should have helped my mom more with her garden,' Roxanne thought as the professor said something about earmuffs and gloves. She knew something that involved earmuffs and gloves and that it was Mandrakes. Roxanne wasn't really sure if it was the kind of plants they will be working on today.

Nadia wrote down what she was listening from the professor, having made a quick re-read of the concepts but in fact still not knowing what exactly was to be expected from this read. In the end, knowing 'what plants are and for what uses' was exactly was she was expecting to learn from the begining.

Nadia titled her head but didn't know if to ask. Finally, she didn't, because the mess in her head was too much to attempt an understandable construction.

The second lesson of Herbology this term had come upon them. Lee was sitting in his usual seat at the back of course. He was actually quite intrested and anxious of what they might be learning today ever since he helped out at the Greenhouse during his spare time.

Sara sat watching someone named Alex waving their hand frantically. Sara was sitting in the back of the class with a guy named Lee. He was in her house.

Sangeetha, who was sitting in the first seat in the middle row, quickly jotted down what the Professor had said. She had a very very vague idea on where this was going. She knew that Earmuffs and gloves should be used when handling Mandrakes, or probably, this was another plant, which made noise that could prove fatal, but other different properties of a Mandrake. She waited.

Heshasa's eyes widened, settign down her book she mouthed with puzzled look mandrakes? Were we going to do mandrakes? She had read about them and they didn't seem to nice. Gulping and looking around the room she decided they couldn't be to bad.
Closing her book Heshasa waited for the netx instructions.
