Amaris looked at everyone. Surely, they were excited about being able to bring in their pets to the lesson. She, however, was not. Ama didn't have a pet. She couldn't afford to buy one and even if she did how would she be able to feed and care for it. She raised her hand and sighed. "I don't have a pet, Professor," she said slightly embarassed. "Does that present a problem?" |
Jen was about to ask the Professor what they should do if they didn't have a pet when Amaris beat her to it. She sat quietly and awaited the Professor's answer. |
Nadia stared and groaned. Pets? She had no pets. Her only pet had been, well, she wasn't there any more so it was no use. And then the family owls, but none of them where in town just now! Other thing she had were the parrots but that was not a wise choice and then the--- Nahh... I mean, it was a creature and everything alright, but being caught in possession... Most importantly, would they believe it has her pet? What are you blabbing about down there? "Nothing, nothing..." |
Iphigeneia wondered if it would be a good idea to bring Agathangelos, her lovely clabbert. He was usually running amock around the grounds this time of day - he got ill if kept indoors for too long. After all, he was a tree-loving animal. Worth a try, though Iphigeneia thought, wanting to show off Agathangelos, who loved meeting people (assuming they were no danger, of course) to her classmates. She left to see if she could find him hanging around her dormitory. Maybe he had fallen asleep there - then she could persuade him to come with her to class. |
Raven raised her hand looking at Professor Dainsie and back at her Raven making sure she was comfortable with all these people. "I thought it was required that Hogwarts students owned an animal?" |
Christy ran to the the common room and brought her cat, Mia. |

"Well, then I suppose the school should start a fund from now on," she said calmly. "Not all students who come to Hogwarts can afford a pet." Amaris cleared her throat and decided to play with her quill. You should have kept you mouth shut. You should have kept your big mouth shut. |
Jacques leaned over and pulled a small glass cage from his backpack. He didn't usually carry Hades around in his backpack, but he hadn't had a chance to get him settled into the dormitory yet. He placed the tarantula's cage on the table in front of him. |

sweetly and shrugged turning back to the front. "I have no sympathy for the poor," she mouthed silently and glared at Professor Dainsie. "Handle your pathetic student," she muttered swiftly and looked back at her Raven and winked. |
Astoria twitched when the professor said something about pets. She wished her cat, Snowball was at school, but she couldn't bring her. Instead, she had a white eagle owl named Storm. She called for the owl to come. Storm flew down from the dormitory and landed on Astoria's arm. She smiled at the owl and pulled out her wand. She spoke "Accio Cage" and caught the cage in her other hand. She pulled out an owl treat from her pocket and gave it to Storm for coming when she called him. |
Zekke was running slightly late to class, but he managed to slip in juuuuuuust on time. He actually hadn't planned on taking CoMC class this term, but he had heard that Professor Dainsie would be teaching this time, so he decided to give it a shot. Silently, he slipped into a chair next to Nadia and couldn't help grinning a little. Perched on his shoulders were his owl, Virgil, and his adopted "phoenix" - courtesy of Nadia - Sparky. Sparky preened and nuzzled his ear as if asking for permission and he nodded his assent. As he started writing notes, Sparky hopped and flew over to Nadia and landed on her shoulder and called out very very quietly and lightly preened her hair. He opened his cage and Virgil flew into it and he offered Nadia his other cage he used for Sparky. |

Professor Dainsie walked casually through the class. Without drawing attention to herself, she placed pygmy puff on Amaris, Jen, and Nadia's desk. Winking at them and smiling, she walked back to the front of the class and awaited the students return. Oh another thought, I know that I said that I have Pygmy Puff's for sale, but I also have many other animals for those who are in the market to buy one. I have owls, toads, cats, mice and rats, krups that are absolutely gorgeous - I have just got one myself, and other animals as well. Either go to my office or the Magical Creature Hospital to enquire. |

To the professor, he inclined his head in deference. "I apologize for talking out of line, professor." |
Jen smiled gratefully at the Professor and gently stroked the pygmy puff. |
Anelreas glowered at Raven for her rude comment toward Amaris. "No worries, Ama. You can use my owl." Like all of her pets, they enjoyed all people, except her. Though, her owl was the only exception. |
Christy walked towards the side wall where were lined cages of all shapes and sizes. She took one and put Mia inside. The cat stretch her paws out and gave a yawn. |
Jacques opened the top of Hades cage and dropped a bit of ham inside. He then turned and smiled at Amaris. "I know you do not like ze mice, but how do you feel about Tarantulas?" |
Amaris glared at Raven and twitched at her freaky ability to smile when her words clearly meant everything but sweetness. She poked the pigmy puff that Dainsie had placed on her desk and scowled. Raven had just ruined the whole lesson for her. She would have retorted but with her luck the Professor would actually hear her insult Raven. Amaris didn't need the hassle right now. Amaris glanced at Zekke and considered smiling at him but decided that that perhaps would make her look like an idiot so contended herself to smiling at Anelreas, when she offered her owl. "But Professor Dainsie gave me this pigmy puff to use," she said and picked up the little fluff ball. Amaris blinked repeatedly. She hadn't noticed Jacques and smiled widely. "I hate mice," she said and eyed the tarantula carefully. "I don't mind spiders..." |
Professor Dainsie glared slightly at Ama and Aris, then smiled at Zekke. Thankyou Zekke, I was temporarily engaged with another student. 5 points. Ok, now we have all owned or been around a magical creature of some kind. But no two animals are the same, they all have their own personalities and mannerisms just like humans do. Therefore we can't 'judge a book by its cover' as they say. There have certainly been instances in history of the fiercest known creatures having an exception. Just like former Professor Lupin, or Hagrid's Acromantula Aragog. While brutal by nature, they learnt to control their aggression. I would like you to tell me your pet’s species, name, and a bit about them. What little quirks they have, their personality traits, and why you chose or what you like about that particular animal. What makes them special to you… |
[ooc: we're just going to pretend Reas left to get her owl and came back. It wastes time to post in the halls then owlery then back.] Anelreas placed Tafiki's cage on her desk and cooed at her. The bird hooted softly, expanding its wings to keeps its balance on the wooden pole in the middle. Anelreas stuck her fingers in the cage as far as she could and stroked the bird's feathers. "But those puffballs are weird looking and theycan't fly." She went to poke the pygmy puff, but stopped herself halfway there. She didn't want to hurt the poor thing. "Ama." She whispered over the girl, forcing her giddy self to surface. "What sound do owls make?" She giggled before making the sound. She zipped her lips when the Professor began addressing the class once more. Talk about their pets? That was a sinch. |
Jacques waited for his turn to speak, then said "My sister bought Hades here for me as a present. He's a four year old Tarantula. I 'ave only had him a few weeks, so i'm still getting to know him. I know his favourite food is ham or bacon, and he likes to sleep for most of the day, in the dark of my backpack" He listened to the other students |
Anelreas stared at the hairy spider and clutched her owl's cage. She hated spiders. There was a reason why there were only one group of creatures with more than four legs. She titled that group the squishing group. "This is my owl, Tafiki." She held up her cage with a big, childish smile. "My brother gave her to my as a gift my first year here." She twirled the cage around so the back of the owl was facing the Professor. "We're not sure why they haven't come out, but I painted two of her feathers pink so I could tell her apart from the other owls." She bit on her lip to think of more things to say about her pet. "She's fine eating anything given to her, as long as it doesn't kill her. She's the only one of my, er, pets that wouldn't attack." She said the last part in a mumble. It was sad, but true. |
Amaris sighed and groaned as Professor Dainsie glared at her. She was the one who had gotten insulted but what did it matter, anyways. Amaris observed the owl inside the cage thoughtfully. She wouldn't be able to answer Dainsie's questions about the pigmy puff. It wasn't her pet. She never even had a pigmy puff before. All she knew was that they liked to humm and eat insects. She managed to crack a smile wen Anelreas asked her something very peculiar. What sound does the owl make? Ama giggled softly. "Hoot Hoot?" She asked in a whisper poking a finger inside the cage, trying to stroke the bird. Amaris shook her head at Reas introduction of Tafiki. The only pet that didn't attack... |
Nadia wasn't really paying attention around, so when Zekke sat in his new seat by the side of her, she barely registered there was two birds perched on his shoulders. She blinked for next time, and not really startling her for in a way she was just used to it, the bird, the sound of the song of the phoenix that used to be her mate, appeared by her side on her shoulder. An unhelped smile took over her lips and she turned to pet the healthy looking phoenix, and then looked up at Zekke, by that time her features splitting into a grin. But when Zekke offered the cage, Nadia's eyes became more real and so her smile flattered. She shook her head, "Sparky is yours now." She got to mutter and Sparky, all grown up more than Nadia was, stretched her wings at the same time the professor placed a creature over her desk. Nadia petted Sparky beak again and let her inside her cage again, breathin a sigh as she did and now watching his owner as he was struggling with something... Quote:

Zekke pondered on this for a moment and as he pondered, he scrawled out a few notes. After he was called upon, he answered. "My pet is a bird, more specifically, an owl, and his name is Virgil, named after the Greek writer, Virgil. He was a gift from my younger brother, actually, for my thirteenth birthday as a going-away gift because I was attending a new school, which is here at Hogwarts. He's a rather easy going creature, but he really dislikes enclosed spaces, especially spaces without windows. He flies my letters for me, usually, unless it's in the early morning in which case it takes three owl treats to make him fly the letter." He grinned a bit and gave his owl an amused look. "I guess he's not a morning person... errrr owl." He concluded. |
