The professor had asked another question but yet Roxanne didn't know anything about it. She had some ideas of what the answers are but she doubt that they were right. So she just sat there listening intently and took notes. "Wow I hope I could at least answer one," she thought. |

Such a brigth girl, pity it didn't work out between us. Maybe if Ah... no, let it lie ol' boy. Let it lie. |
Kay raised her hand. "1. Safe Habitats 2. Controls on selling and breeding 3. Disillusionment Charms 4. Memory Charms 5. The Office of Misinformation" |
Anelreas sunk down in her chair as only one of her answers had been right. She should stick to answering only the questions she knew. Which wouldn't be that many, she feared. |

But by far the most important thing they have done is give classification to the wide variety of animals that live in our world. What are the three categories that magical creatures are broken into? |
Kali raised her hand, "Beast, Being, and Sprit divisions." |
Amaris frowned and chewed on the inside of her cheek. She didn't quite understand the answer which meant she probably didn't know the answer. Amaris sat silently and glanced at Anelreas. She shrugged and waited for the class to proceed. |
Anelreas knew this question. Her hand was halfway in the air when she heard the answer. With a glower at the Ravenclaw, her hand went down to the table, low grumbling hidden under her breath. |
Kay nodded her head in agreement with Kali's answer. |
Peony looked at the professor, looked down again at her mess of papers, and tried to organize everything. It was a worthy thing to do, but not in the middle of class when she should have been listening. |

Beasts are then sub-classified by a Ministry of Magic classification guide, that rates them accordning to their danger to humans. The classifications go from X (the leaset dangerous) to XXXXX (the most dangerous). Can anyone name 2 creatures that have a XXXXX rating? |
Nadia raised her hand: "Acromantula and Dragons." |
Xavier raises his hand, happy that he knew the answer. "I believe the Lethifold and the Manticore are both on that list," he says. |
"Dementors and," Peony glanced at Xavier, unhappy that he had gotten the second part of her answer, "Lethifolds." |
Kate had raised her hand, "Dementers" Kate had said, "Oh but maybe they are considered beings. I'm not sure, do they really have self-conscienceness? I'm guessing that's what separates beasts from beings." Kate sighed. She didn't know alot and it seemed like many of the students knew a lot more than she did. "What about a basilisk?" Kate asked hoping she was close to being right. |
"Well, actually..." Nadia said both meaning to Peony and the Gryffindor girl she didn't know, "Dementors aren't rated because they are in the Division of Spirits... though I don't doubt they would be considered very dangerous," she added as an after-thought. She nodded at the Basilisk idea, though, and kicked herself on not mentioning her favorite creature and that which she used as nickname. |
Lee who was sitting silently at the back rose his hand lightly and said "I believe Chimaera and a Manticore". Lee said quite pleased with himself that he could answer a question. He went back to his note taking and swinging on his seat. |
Ozzy quietly joted down some notes. After a while he raised his hand and cleared his throat... "Werewolves and Nundu's." He said a bit quietly. "I guess its a good thing dad let me read some of his old school books before I came here". He though to himself and joted down some more notes. |
Marnie raised her hand and said in a timid voice 'I read somewhere a Nundu is one of the most dangerous creature in the world , and a Manticore ' She then went back to taking notes . |
Excellent! What intelligent students I have... 2 points to Nadia, Xavier, and Ozzy. 1 point to Lee, and 5 to Kate for creative thinking. Well done! There are currently only 2 creatures that receive an X rating. What are they? |
Rosa raised her hand 'the flobberworm and the horklump.' she said |
Adz knew the answer, but seeing somebody else get it, she decided just to take notes. Flobberworm - They are rather plain in appearance, thick, brown, slimy, and up to 10 inches long. One end of the Flobberworm looks identical to the other, and both ends secrete mucus, which is sometimes used to thicken potions. Flobberworms have been known to eat lettuce although they will eat seemingly any other vegetation, and usually live in damp ditches. Flobberworms were given one X by the Ministry of Magic Horklump-This is another very dull creature which resembles a vegetable rather than an animal. It looks like a pink mushroom covered in black bristles. It is an animal, however, and it uses its root-like tentacles to catch worms for food. In turn, the Horklump is a considered a delicacy by Gnomes, but nobody else seems to like it. She wasn't sure whether or not the teacher would care about what she wrote down, she she decided it was best to have it written down anyway. |
Bingo! 2 points to wizcat and 10 points to Adz for effort and information. Now, for those of you who have read Hogwarts a History, you will know that around the time that Harry Potter was at the school, a large colony of Acromantula lived in the forbidden forest. If you haven't read it, know you know. :) They have since been contolled in numbers and stopped spreading, but they are still there. They are terribly dangerous but also very intelligent. Does anyone know the date of the first recorded sighting of an Acromantula? |
"1794" adz answered straight away. "Do the acromantula still survive in the forbidden forest, and do they serve any use here?" ooc:soz gtg - will be back later, ready to do well in class! |
Cherry tried hard not to let out a deep sigh. She was terrible at this subject. The only reason she had taken on this subject was because she still had no idea what she wished to do in the future, although it seemed so far off, and an extra subject was sure to come in useful. It was probably just the feeling she got whenever she was asked to work with animals. Her work in Transfiguration with a mouse had nearly got the little beast killed, and although wands weren't of the utmost importance in this subject, she still felt slightly uncomfortable. So when Professor Dainsie suggested that students could go help her with some of the animals, she decided she could go, at least, once. Perhaps a little bit more of experience away from the classroom, would help her overcome her fear. But for the moment, Cherry just listened and took notes and made a mental note to go and look up some things about the creatures mentioned in the lesson in the library later. |
