ooc: Nadia, your post cracked me up.

Taking a deep breath, Alex tried to control herself. And once again her quick-temper got the best of her. ACK. She noticed a few people staring at her and Nadia looked rather embarassed. Truth was, she wasn't trying to make Nadia feel bad at all -- it was just, well, soon they would run out of questions to ask, no? Erm, although, with -- nevermind.

Sighing, she scanned the room once again and rested her eyes on Nadia, awaiting for her to talk again. She was almost sure that she had more questions. Although, Alex had a question of her own. But before she could say anything, Rae had taken away five points from Slytherin. Because of her. That wasn't the point. It was only five points, she was sure that she managed to win Slytherin a lot more points than that in class. But still. It was because of her.

She was ready to smack herself. Really and truly. The only thing that kept her from doing it was that she was around people. Blushing furiously, she gazed down at the floor and closed her eyes, trying to keep her tears in.

No ... no .. she couldn't lose it in class. Not NOW. Not in DADA class. Her quill was clutched in her hand, and as she wrapped her fingers around it tightly, she snapped it in half. With a small nod at Professor Rae, she gazed up at her, her eyes obviously full of tears, but had managed not to say anything else.

"Water expands when it freezes," Rae turned to a student in the back of the room. "The limb wouldn't expand that much, but it would in fact expand. Also, the spell only effects what is hit by the spell, meaning that there is no reason to be frozen to the ground. You might be frozen to your clothes, but the thaw would take care of that issue. Now... are we ready to attempt this spell or do you want to know any more specifics? I'm happy to alleviate any concerns you might have."

ooc: That was my bad, I said 'thickening' when I tried to say getting harder, not larger. Mistook the meaning with that of Spanish. But yeah, cold should contract/compress >.< Don't nkow about visually *hates not being a native-speaker*


Nadia took some more notes, wondering if this spell was in a way related to that other spell... how was it? Glaciare? On top of it all, it had happened again. The previous statement had inhibited her and now she couldn't remember the other half question she had. Well, maybe they were not that important no?

She moved the wand between her fingers, trying to concentrate. The professor had already said how the spell freezed innerly as well... Temptavitely, she raised her hand again, "And what's the rage of the spell. Could it freeze the limb of a troll? Giant?"

Jen leaned back in her chair, nodded once at the professor, and looked around at the rest of the class. She was a little nervous about actually practicing the spell but was willing to try it.

Heshasa's eyes widened so we WOULD be attempting them. Smiling and taking down some notes, Heshasa Tied her long blonde hair in a low ponytail and threw it over her shoulder waiting for instructions.

Zekke suddenly got a mental image of the DADA class practicing the Frostbite charm on water, thereby potentially making popscicles, and the idea of the class making popscicles...

His lips quirked like mad as he fought away the mental image and he raised a hand. By the time she called on him, his lips had stopped quirking, but his eyes shone just a touch brighter than normal.

Deciding to settle his imagination once and for all, he asked, "We can use this spell in dueling and whatnot... but could it have more... errrr... useful 'everyday' properties? Is the spell strong enough to make ice cubes or popscicles, for example? Or does it work strictly with living and breathing beings?" He paused a moment, considering what some of the students were saying.

"And actually... water expands when frozen. If you put water in a closed container and freeze it, the container will expand because the water expanded."

ooc: Trust me... Water. Expands. When. Frozen. I promise.

"With enough focus, the spell could be used to freeze a troll or giant." Rae nodded. "Now, let's go ahead and try this spell out. The incantation is Glacies Transeo (Glay-cees trans-ee-o). Flick the wand three times in a triangular shape, starting at the left hand corner. Please practice the wand motion now."

"As I said, there are lots of interesting uses for this spell, including freezing water or juice to make a nice snack." Rae answered Zekke's question as everyone drew out their wands.

Heshasa raised her wand and flicked it in the tirangular shape. After practicing it a few times and feelign she had it right she hoped they would not prctice on each other. Solving ehr suspicion she asked the proffessor...

Proffessor are we practicing on each other or something else, staring inquiringly hoping they were practicing on animals or pillows.?

Jen carefully watched as the professor demonstrated the wand movement. Pulling out her own wand she tried to imitate it. Almost like making a triangle she thought. "One, two, three," she muttered as she copied the movement. She tried it enough times until she finally felt she had it right.

Slietly groaning, Alex thought to herself. Why in the world didn't she wait just a bit longer for when the Professot was going to say the could practice the spell? Whatever, it was too late now, the damage was done. Surely there was a way to win five points back to Slytherin.

She placed the broken quill on top of her desk. While Rae wasn't talking, so she didn't come off as rude, she grabbed her wand and muttered "Reparo!" under her breath, her wand pointing at the quill on her desk. Once the quill repaired itself, Alex nodded shortly at the Professor. She was always ready to try out new spells.

Upon hearning the Professor's instructions, Alex tried the wand motion. She started the the left-hand corner and flicked it three times, in a triangular shape. She did it over and over until she got the hang of it.

"Erm, Professor ... are we practicing with partners again?" she asked Rae, giving her a blank look and blinking stupidly. Wouldn't it be a bit -- dangerous? Whatever, surely Professor Rae knew what she was doing.

Wand in hand, Zekke got the notion that he looked like an orchestra conductor as he flicked his wand three times in a triangular shape starting from the left corner...

It reminded him of playing the violin, really, and the familiarity of it made his motions smooth and connected... but wait... perhaps the motion wasn't supposed to be so... smooth.

He flicked three times in a more distinctive manner and wondered if that was a more appropriate way or not.

Rae watched the class flick their wands. "Make sure it's a sharp flick, please. Don't just move your wand through the triangle... flick it at each point. And Alex... we will be practicing with partners, but very very carefully. In fact, we'll go two at a time for now. Can I have two volunteers?"

Zekke raised his hand to volunteer.

Jen hesitantly raised her hand. "I'd like to volunteer Professor," she said. She smiled nervously and gripped her wand tighter.

Looking around, Alex shrugged and raised her hand also.

Heshasa weakly raised her hand and quietly said "I'll do it."

Rae gestured to the first two hands in the air. "Zekke and Jen, come on down." She grinned and slid from her seat on the desk. "Now, take up your dueling positions. Bow and stance. Zekke, you cast first at Jen. Aim at her arm. Concentrate. Do you want to practice on a non-human object first?"

Nadia took out her wand and waited for further instructions. Once given, she fist mouthed the proper incantation, then separatedly tried the wandmovement - while trying not to think of the spell so not to cause an unintentional non-vb spell like last time.

Only mid way doing this, she titled her head. "Wait, counterclockwise or clokwise," she muttered, pondering it out loud to herself. It was something to be picked out from the way some were going for the right corner then up and others up and then down again. The later looked the most correct.

Alex lowered her hand and shrugged again. She watched intently at Zekke, a seventh year Slytherin and at Jen, who couldn't be more than a second year Gryffindor attempted to practice the spells on each other. Truth was, she would have prefered to try it out on a non-human object first. Buuut ... whatever floats their boat.

Now, who was Alex going to partner up with?

Nadia lowered her wand hand and watched. Strike that, she first breathed a sight of relief, then watched. Having supervision would be nice. Nadia, you are 7th year, you are an adult. Honestly. Yeah, but there was a reason magic in most areas required for expertize and people to guide you. Unless it's experimental magic...

Shaking her head, she looked right up again. Indeed, maybe she was quite of a paradox (or just incredible stupid).

"May I practice on an inanimate object first, Professor? I've never used the Frostbite spell before." Zekke bowed, first at the Professor, then took his dueler's position and bowed at Jen.

He looked around for some object or other to cast the spell on. Hopefully one that wasn't too delicate or anything like that...

ooc: Guh...don't volunteer if you're not going to be around *dies* Alex... Lost. Or multitask like me.

"You're free to start at any time. Why don't I get a second group up here that I can supervise?" She turned to pull a bottle of water from her drawer. "Try this. If you do it right... it should explode brilliantly." She set out a few others for the other volunteers.

Jen took her position and returned Zekke's bow. She waited silently for him to start.

Nadia waited with her eyes open for when they would start. Dealing with dangerous spells truly caught Nadia's attention. Again, a paradox when she wouldn't like to be near the performance in real life events not even with a 15th-feet-pool. That's why, when the professor called for a second pair, Nadia looked up and around... and gulped.

Sighing fnially, she raised her hand.
