Professor Rae yawned as she moved into the classroom. She wasn't as alert as she'd like to be, but it didn't matter. She'd sleep well tonight, and the lesson was simple enough. Sinking into her seat, Rae propped the door open with a flick of her wand and waited for the class to arrive.


ooc: Please be patient with me during this lesson... I'll be in and out.

Nadia walked inside the classroom, took a seat on the middle-back and started taking supplies. Silently, she also took a couple of notations and books and started inscribing. Seemly, she didn't even notice the professor as an occupant of the room.

Zekke slipped into the room and waved to the professor with a grin and found his usual seat and sat down and laid out his notebook and writing utensils for class.

Ginn walked into the Defense Against The Dark Arts classroom. She was so happy to be beginning their second lesson. She found a seat somewhat near the middle and got her things prepared.

ali walked into the class and took a seat at the front of the class.he got all his equipement out. having enjoyed the last lesson he didnt want to miss a thing.

Alex walked in the DADA Classroom quietly, giving Professor Rae a short nod as she walked past her. She scanned the room carefully and saw Nadia.Biting her lip, she started walking over to her but stopped suddenly. Well, truth was, that wasn't exactly her seat and she would probably get distracted if sitting by Nadia.

With a heavy sigh, she kept walking until she reached the back of the classroom. Once there, she sat down and placed her bag underneat her desk. But, of course, not before taking out her quill and parchemnt. Her gaze was set on the Professor as she awaited for class to begin.

Jaren took his usual seat in the back, wating for class to begin. If he looked tired to you your imagination probably wasn't playing tricks on you, but at the same time he looked alert as well.

Talk about a paradox.

Sangeetha entered the classroom. Finally, she was going to be attending a class. She looked around. She spotted Nadia, sitting in the back of the class. Grinning, she walked over to her and tapped her on her shoulder.

'Hello, Nadia. Long time, no see, eh?'

Raising her eyebrows for a brief second, she sat down next to her.

"Excellent... we'll wait a few more minutes for your classmates. In the meantime, I want you to pull our your parchment, a quill, and your wands. We're going to be learning a few defensive spells today, followed by a practicum session."

With said tools already in front of him, Jaren occupied himself with skimming over the textbook as he waited.

Heshasa cautionsly walked in. Taking a seat away from everyone she pulled out her parchmany, quill, and her wand and looked up attentivly wating for instructions.

Martha enters the classroom quietly and sits towards the front of the room. She takes out some parchment, ink, and a quill and the novel she has been reading. She reads quietly while waiting for class to start.

Nadia found two girls sitting by the sides of her, only she knew from terms before - "Ah, Sangeetha! What a surprise, welcome back^^" the other a newest face, "Alex," she nodded at the girl. And seemly Zekke and Jaren had already arrived as well, no surprise there.

Sunny enters the classroom quickly and looks around for somewhere to sit. Seeing a Ravenclaw girl in the front, she decides to sit there. She sits down a few seats behind the girl and takes out parchment, ink, and a quill. She looks around the room as more students enter, waiting for class to start.

ooc: Ooooook... I guess everyone HAS shown up *grin*.

Rae yawned again and rose to her feet. "Now, let's go ahead and get started. As I said a few moments before, today we're going to discuss a defensive spells. I know we talked about those briefly in our last class, but for the sake of continuity... let's develop a working definition. How can we classify defensive spells? How can we decide whether or not a spell will fall into that category?"

:: Ganymede raised her hand and said, "A defensice spell is a spell that blocks another spell. " She said with a smug smile. ::

Laura raises her hand and says, "Defensive spells are meant to defend the person that casts them. Anything that is used to defend oneself would fall into that category."

Nadia raised her hand, "Defensive spells are those which serve to counter act an attack of whatever source or ways. Some times it includes the so called anti-jinx jinxes, meaning that they are using for defense but can be used for offense as well, depending on what context or situation."

Ginn raised her hand, feeling a little confidence this time and hoped she could come out on top...

"Defensive spells could be any spell that would protect yourself from another."

'a defensive spell simply defends you from a spell,but not every spell.
sheild charms count as defensive spells as they stop you getting hit most of the time' ali said

"I suppose that typically, a defensive spell won't... 'attack' someone. Rather, it will be passive, like Protego. Although, one could probably use an offensive spell to defend as well." Zekke answered after he had raised his hand and was called on.

Roxanne listened to the people who were answering questions. It seemed like every class she was in, she never could raise her hand and answer a question. She sat in her chair quietly and began taking notes.

Rasing her hand Heshasa said a Defensive spell is a spell that does not attack but blocks unfriendly spell and protects the catser from unwanted harm.

"Good... I think we have a consensus for the most part. It sounds like we are all in agreement that a defensive spell is any that is used to keep us from getting attacked or hurt. However, it seems to me that most of you believe that a defensive spell is one that merely keeps your person from being harmed. What about spells such as... Stupefy? Impedimenta? ARe those defensive spells?"

She waited for an answer, but added as an afterthought... "Let's just call things what they are, Nadia. An anti-jinx... is just a fancy name for a jinx used by whoever is considered the 'good guy.'"

Raising her hand once more, Ginn replied...

"They could probably be classified as both defensive and attacks. It would depend on the intent of the caster. If you are trying to stop someone from casting a harmful spell on you, it would be defensive."
