Lauren blushed.
''Sorry..I answered the question wrong..''

Sarah said, "I don't think that Merpeople would be considered dark. They don't hurt unless they are protecting themselves."

"I was thinking the same, if they have been housed by merepeople...would they really be considered evil beins?"

Cassirin 09-10-2005 10:20 PM

"I think Sarah hit the answer right on," Rae pointed to the Ravenclaw girl. "A grindylow will attack for the pleasure of the kill or the attack, not because he wants food or because he feels he is in danger. Five points for Ravenclaw. Now... not all Dark Creatures attack in a physical way. Can anyone name a Dark Creature that harms you in a non-physical way?"

allucha 09-10-2005 10:21 PM

is it a dementor

Kass put up her hand "a dementor" she said.

Melanie_Woodbane 09-10-2005 10:21 PM

"Well, a Basilisk can kill you just by you looking into its eyes...is that still physical?"

Aris 09-10-2005 10:21 PM

Raven raised her hand and smiled. "A Banshee."

wizcat 09-10-2005 10:22 PM

Rosa raised her hands. 'boggarts and dementors do.' she said. 'dementors make you remember your worst memory, and boggarts turn into your worst fear.'

Mrs. Weasley 09-10-2005 10:22 PM

Terry raises her hand. "That would be a boggart. It harms you by using your fears as a weapon against you."

hermione032192 09-10-2005 10:22 PM

Sarah flushed with pride at the proffesore's words and raised her hand saying, "Dementors."

Christy_Horcrux00 09-10-2005 10:22 PM

'Can we consider a Dementor?'

falling from grace 09-10-2005 10:23 PM

Alex raised her hand. "Dementors," she said, simply. "They hurt you mentally, not physically. They suck all the happy thoughts and feelings out of you, until you are left with nothing, but bad memories. And if you do not have the strenght to do the Patronus Charm, they suck out your soul and you are nothing, but flesh. And of course, you are still alive because your heart and brain are still functioning. But except for that .. nothing," she said, her voice slowly getting quieter as she spoke.

"Also .. the Boggart, but ... they can hurt you physically as well, can they not?" Alex asked, looking up at Professor Rae.

Very nice, I was thinking in the wrong context.

Antwone wrote this down quickly.

Melanie_Woodbane 09-10-2005 10:24 PM

"Oh, and Mandrake's Screams can kill you...I guess your eyes and ears are still physical, but it's not like they ripped you in half."

Christy_Horcrux00 09-10-2005 10:26 PM

'I'm just curious, a Mandrake is a Creature?' Christy asked shyly...

Cassirin 09-10-2005 10:26 PM

"Yes... a dementor, a banshee, and a boggart are all good answers. A basilisk still kills you, so I'll consider that as physical harm. The other answer I would have accepted would have been a pogrebin. Fifteen total points to Ravenclaw. Let's move on again... we're almost through our list. Dark Wizards... there is a difference between a Dark Wizard and a wizard who uses Dark spells. What is it?"

Cassirin 09-10-2005 10:27 PM

"No... a Mandrake is a plant."

Antwone Weasley 09-10-2005 10:27 PM

Antwone was becoming a bit discouraged...Ravenclaw was pulling away rapidly.

hermione032192 09-10-2005 10:28 PM

Sarah raised her hand and asked the proffesor, "Im sorry, but what is a pogrebin?"

pUdDiNg_LdH14 09-10-2005 10:29 PM

Lauren raises her hand.
''Dark wizards use dark spells to intentionally hurt someone but wizards who use dark spells just use them for defense.''

kass put up her hand "well isn't a dark wizard is a wizard who kills or beleives in something well, dark and not right. and a wiazrd who uses dakr spells could juts be simply a wiard who uses the spells. doesn't mean that him hisself is dark."

Antwone Weasley 09-10-2005 10:29 PM

"A Dark Wizard uses Dark Magic for themselves like persurving their live and junk. But a normal old wizard that uses Dark Magic to say, protect someone is much different."

allucha 09-10-2005 10:30 PM

a dark wizard is a person who knows the spells are bad but uses it anyway wheras a wizard who uses dark spell could not know the magical propeties of the spell. take harry potter for instance when he performs sectumsempra
