:: Lauren raised her hand. " No spells to mess or destroy the other person's mind. " she said to the teacher. ::

Anelreas raised her hand. "Be fair in your dueling. Give the other time to respond to the first few spells and only at a later time should you test their flexibility and agility. Don't treat every partner as your equal for we all have our own levels and skills." The last bit sounded a bit unfair and rude, but it did make sense.

"No unforgivables, But that's a given. In civilized dueling, don't use any spells that would severely hurt your opponent."

"I believe that is a common rule that we all have come to know. Also, i think if there happenes to be any bloodshed the duel should end immediately."

Sarah copied down the rules on the board.

Alex raised her hand and thought for a second. "Practice the incantation beforehand so you don't accidently say it wrong and light someone on fire," she said, trying to keep her grin in and rememebering last term's happenings in the Slytherin Common Room.

"Also, you should be careful when aiming, so you don't aim at the wrong person. After all, I had seen an incident of this happening earlier in the common room," she slowly. She was, of course, talkig about Selena and when she 'accidentally' hexed a first year student. Shaking her head, she listened on and wrote down the rules on a new piece of parchment that had not been doodled on.

Afton raised her hand.
"Make sure you know what your doing. if you dont know what your doing, you could easily harm the other person."

Taking careful notes, Karen sat, trying to think of more rules that should be inforced while dueling...

Anelreas thought for a moment before raising her hand again. "Under no circumstances should you duel two against one, or an even greater number. The duel should be against two people and only for class. We're only students and are still learning of the consequences of dueling and shouldn't take the matter lightly."

Noel payed attention to everyone's answers but didn't speak, she had never payed the attention she was supposed to in DADA. She copied down a few of her peer's answers and a few of the rules with her dark quill. She thought a little then raised her hand, "Make sure you use the correct wand movement and take careful aim at your partner."

Sarah copied the last few rules.

"Professor, what's the homework?"

Christy, finally copied the last Dueling rules.

Afton looked around for a partner. none of her friends was in this class at the moment.....

Sarah looked around. This was the part of class that she knew she wouldn't like: Finding a partner. Sarah looked around and saw Antwone. She walked over to him and asked, "Want to be partners?"

'Partner?' Christy though, 'But who?' She gave a look around her...

Rae posted the final list on the board. "You will receive the homework assignment at the end of class."[/color]

Anelreas stood and let her eyes roam over the room. She had the inconveinence of being paired with a first year last year and she nearly dismembered the poor dear. She much preferred dueling with someone her own year, as well as her house. Just her luck, she spotted Alex.

She walked over to the girl, pulling her wand from the inside of her robes. She gave a nod of the head as a greeting bow. "Duel me?" She asked with a thin smile.

Noel was dismayed at Professor Rae's assignment. Partners? She wondered if there was anyone in the classroom who would want to duel with her. She took out her wand and put it on the table, then she hung her head, hoping someone would ask.

Olivia knew she would partner with Afton, she was such a sweet girl really. And after Afton was fussing at Marvolo in her defense, well she certainly owed her some sort. She walked over to her, seeing that Afton was frantic she lightly tapped her on the shoulder.

"Do you want to be my partner?" Olivia asked smiling knowing she would accept.

Ginn looked around the room for a partner, and seeing someone as confused as herself, said "Christy, right? Wanna parnter up?"

kass turned to raven "partenrs?" she asked taking her wand out of her robe

Afton looked at Olivia formally.
"Yes ma'am. will you be my partner?"
She bowed and smirked.

'Sure Ginn' Christy said gently.

Shelby looked around for a partner.'I'll never get a partner'Shelby thought.

Selena took a look around "hmmm i needa partner"

"Great!" She says, grabbing her wand. "Now what? I guess we practice, what, disarming each other maybe? I'm real new to this."

Noel watched nervously as everyone around her paired off. She saw Alex go and duel with someone else. She didn't know who any of the other students were. She tried to stand up a little to perhaps find someone but some invisble force kept her in her seat, watching the rest of the class.

Sarah waited for his answer.

Alex made eye contact with Anelreas and slowly got up to walk over to her. But before she could start walking, she noticed Reas moving between the rows. She gave her a small smile. "My pleasure," she said, with a hint of sarcasm in her voice, that she was hoping Anelreas would not recognize. She gave her a small bow and and also grabbed her wand off her desk.

"Err, where are we supossed to be duelling?" she asked Anelreas, with a small frown on her face. She looked around and noticed Selena and Noel, two of her fellow Slytherins. She gave them both a thin smile and turned her gaze back on Anelreas, awaiting for an answer.

Shelby sighs'I was right'she thought.She stood up watching the others duel.

hey, dya want to duel for a bit

"Ay Noel care to partna up?"

Noel noticed Alex smiling at her and couldn't help but wonder why, she smiled back nervously and looked around some more until she saw Selena ask her, "Sure. I've never really dueled before but I'll do my best."

Sarah, decided that her wouldn't answer her, walked over to Shelby. "Partners?"

'Yeah I think so, but we do we start?'

Olivia bowed as well, making sure not to take her eyes off of Afton, they may be friends but now they were also opponents. She slid her hand into her robes in search of her wand, she withdrew it quickly. This wasn't going to be too formal, but they might as well make it look good just the same.

"So, the rules say we have discuss the spells we're going to use. Then, we have to practice them..." Olivia drawled on, she didn't hate rules. It was just they usually involved a waste of time, but it was for their safety so...

"sure" Selena said to Noel "aight just don't hurt me, i'm fragile" Selena said laughin

"Where can i find a partner?"Shelby thought aloud.

"I'll try," she smiled a little. She looked around realizing no one else had really started, "Should we wait?"

"I asked you." Sarah reminded Shelby.

ooc: You may begin dueling as soon as you have found your partner. Remember to stick to Expelliarmus for now.

Anelreas shrugged her shoulders lightly. "Simple spells we know, I think. Nothing too dangerous or that will harm the other." She pointed to the rules on the board for Alex to read. She then glanced around. "I'd run if Amaris was in here."

She was friends with the girl, best of it, but with a wand in the Gryffindor's hand, Anelreas would run like mad. Or stay out of her way. She wanted to live to see her graduation day from the school. She never let herself nor Amaris forget their first meeting.

Stepping a few paces away, she held her wand in front of her. "Ready to tango?" She asked Alex, posing with her wand.

Afton grined. 2 people could play this game.
"oh yes. we should."
She smirked casually and withdrew her wand.
"she said we must start off with expelliarmus first..."
She drawled as well. she had no clue how she got into gryffindor when her whole family had always been in slytherin...mayb it was the bravery.....

"Um...partners Shelby?" Sarah asked her again?

"Well, Professor Rae said to stick to Expelliarmus, so I guess we just give that a try. Do you want to go first, or should I?"

"Alright then," she bowed and backed up about six feet, holding her wand up.

"Oh I never heard you I'm so sorry.Sure i'll duel with you."Shelby said startled

"Well accordin to tha professa we gotta conversate bout tha spells we finna use." Selena glanced ova at the professor. "personally i think it's a waste of time cuz you know da person u gon be fightin ain't gon tell u what curse dey bout to use, but i'm not gonna test Professa Rae's patience just yet." Selena grinned "uhhh I plan to use "Aquamenti" and uhhh prolly Petrificus Totalus on u." Selena glanced ova as she heard the professor speakin "or we can just stick to the preskool spell Expelliarmus"

Selena grabbed her wand and was ready for Noel

'Ginn, let's start!' Christy said happily, while she gave a bow.

"Wanna start?"Shelby asked sarah

'You can start'

"Ok. Um...You can cast a spell on me first and I'll use Expelliarmus." Sarah said, pulling out her wand.

"Doesn't Aquamenti conjure water or soemthing?" Noel asked, a little confused, "I was just going to stick with Expelliarmus for now but I can do something more advanced if you'd be bored with it."

Ginn bows to Christy and backs up a few feet. "Gimme your best shot Christy."

Shelby bowed and cast the spell "FLIPENDO!!"

Sarah waved her wand and muttered Expelliarmus. She felt shock as Shelby's wand jumped out of her hand.

"It sure does" Selena pointed her wand at Noel "EXPELLIARMUS"

Alex gave a small nod to approve of Anelreas's rules. She tried her back to hold back her smile when she heard the comment about Amaris. After all, she was also really good friends with the sixth year Gryffindor, but Anelreas was right. Everyone would be running if Amaris was caught with a wand in her hand and so many people around, especialy first yeas.

She slowly backed away until she was a few feet away from Reas. She got herself in the duelling position with her wand at the ready. "I'll go first," she told Anelreas. Taking in a slow, deep breath, she said, or rather ... yelled. "Expellriamus!" The spell went flying past Noel's head and almost hit her, but thankfully it did not. Alex still gave a small squeak.

The spell travelled fast through the air very fast and hit Anelreas. She was instantly knowcked backwards into the wall, and her wand simply swooshed out of her hand and started zooming towards Alex. She caught in her hand and ran over to Anelreas, making sure she was okay. Perhaps she put too much force into her spell?

Brushing Anelreas off from the dust, she handed the Slytherin girl her wand and slowly walked back over to her place. Once again, she got in the duelling position, with the wand at the ready. Giving Anelreas a grin, she said: "Your turn."

ooc- your only supposed to use expelliarmus to start out with...thats what she said.

Afton grined and raised her wand, looking over at Olivia to see if she was ready.

Sarah smiled and said "Ready for me to cast a spell on you?" Sarah asked her partner.

Olivia heard Professor Rae give the instruction about only using Expelliarmus. So, it was just going to be a simple disarming spell, Olivia had no problems with that. She straightened up and placed her footing according to proper dueling position.

"So, the Professor said Expelliarmus. Just Expelliarmus." She clarified just to be Afton heard her. She held out her wand in front of her like a sword, ready to do battle.

Noel had been caught completely off guard, before she could even move her wand two spells came flying at her, one nearly missed her and one knocked her wand out of her hand. "Not bad," she smiled at Selena as she picked up her wand, "But your bowing could be better EXPELLIARMUS!" she shouted, aiming the spell straight at Selena's wand hand, it wasn't traveling as fast as Alex's had, but it was pretty good.

"Oh sara i g2g.I have care of magical creatures right now"Shelby said in a rush

"Now, now Selena," Rae overheard the girl and stood outside of their aim. "I know this is too advanced for you, but I hate having to punish people in the Duelling Arena because they can't follow simple rules. This is a way to practice those rules. We'll get to more interesting spells next time."

Sarah blinked. "Oh. Fine, at least I go to practise. Bye Shelby." Sarah turned to the Proffesor. "When does class end proffesor?"

'Ok here it goes' Christy thought in a good spell...'Stupefy!"

"Ready then Christy?" Ginn asked. "Expelliarmus!"

She says it just in time before Christy's "Stupefy" gets out. Christy's wand go flying.

"hey, it was just supposed to be Expelliarmus Christy." she said smiling.

Anelreas' vision blurred for a moment. She put a hand on her head once she was helped up, swaying lightly on her feet. "I always forget how strong your spells are until I get hit with one of them." She commented. It was a good thing her humor stayed with her in class.

The hit, along with her comment, put Anelreas in a building giddy mood. Grasping her wand firmly, she stood on the balls of her feet. Spinning once, she pointed her wand at Alex, and shouted in a singsong voice. "Expelliarmus!"

"Ok. I'll wait for everyone then." Sarah sat back down in her seat, looking over her notes.

Distracted by Professa Rae the spell Noel shot off zoomed at Selena hitting her left hand causing her wand to go flying "NICE"

Selena then looked over at the professor and tried to sound as innocent as possible when she said "I unnastand professa." Selena had thought for a split second to test Professa Rae's skillz since it had been a while since she taught a class, but opted not to. Selena wasn't ready for the professor to counter the attack..then sendin her to detention. Even if Selena did it playfully.

Afton nodded her head at Olivia.
"Expelliarmus!"
Afton grinned as Olivia's wand flew across the room. Afton then quickly summoned it and threw it back to Olivia.

"Thanks," Noel said smiling. She was surprised her spell was that good. She waited for Selena to cast a spell, she was in a sort of stance so she would be able to counter it quickly.

'My turn..' Christy said to Ginn, while they changed places.

"Ready when you are" Ginn tells her.

Selena looked over Noel's shoulder highly distracted "yo what's that" Selena stepped forward to try to get a better look.

The spell hit Alex almost instantly. She was instantly knocked off her feet and into Selena. Her wand flew out of her hand, zoomed across the room and into Anelreas's hand. She sighed and quickly got up, brushing herself off. She looked at Selena and said: "Sorry," with a thin grin on her lips. She then slowly walked towards Anelreas.

Once she reached her, she gave her a wide grin. "Talk for yourself," she said, winking. She grabbed the wand out of Anelreas hand and stuffed it inside her pocket. "I think the Professor said we only need to do it once, so we might as well get back to our seats now. That way there is more room for the others to practice," she said, nodding her head towards the rest of the students.

She gave one last bow to Anelreas before walking through the rows of seats and sitting down in her desk. She sighed and grabbed another piece of parchment out of her bag. Taking the quill that she left on her desk, she once again started doodling little stick people and hearts in the corner of the parchment. She would erase it all later, of course.

When hearing the Professor's comment that class was almost over, her heart started beating faster and her stomach seemed to have turned upside down. She remembered that she wanted to stay back at the end of class and talk to the Professor.

Olivia's eyes widened. Wow, Afton really did know her way around a spell. She was also surprised at her good summoning charm! Her wand flew back to her instantly!

"Okay, fine...my turn! One, two, three! Expelliarmus!" Olivia shouted aiming directly at Afton's wand.

"Are you trying to trick me?" Noel asked smiling, "Despite that charming attempt to distract me I'm not turning around."

'I'm ready' Christy said with a smirk

* Cari hold up her wand at her friend alley alright ready, here it goes "EXPELLIARMUS!!" Cari watches her friends wand fly out of the air and into the pot next to the door...sorry alley"

Afton smirked as her wand flew across the room and landed on Professor Raes desk. she smirked.
"good goin Olivia!!"
She walked over to Professor Raes desk and picked up her wand and smirked at Olivia. she was awful good.

Sarah sighed. She looked at the class. She almost wished that they would hurry. Sarah reached for her DADA book and started to read, waiting for the class to finish.

Selena laughed "well i hadda try!" Selena raised her wand "EXPELLIARMUS" only it shot past Noel and in Alex's direction.

Anelreas let out a childish giggle at Alex's comment. This was the first year she didn't damage someone or something on her first spell of the year. She believed that deserved a sweet at dinner.

She returned the bow to Alex and skipped after and passed her to her own seat. This giddy mood of hers was going to land her in trouble, she could feel it in her gut. The feeling suddenly reminded her of Amaris and she wondered where the girl was. Tobias was probably with her, or hunting her out. The creature was in love with the Gryffindor. Anelreas was highly amused.

Either in a rather deadly mood or under a powerful indifference, Nadia stayed silent though all class with nothing to say though the whole hour that lasted the theorical class. But she was quite keen to try get some practical done. With so much frustration and such over her shoulder, the smallest spark of passion found a very vivid and enthusiastic Nadia. Looking around, she looked for a partner to practice with and to start the review of basics...

Sarah wrote down the homework, wanting to do it soon. She smiled at the proffesor and walked out of the room smiling. She thought that she did pretty good for her 1st lesson.

Noel put her wand away, "Well then, I guess Alex can give protego a try today instead," she chuckled slightly and apologized to Alex. "I'll see you around Selena," she picked up her bag and wrote down the homework. Then she left the room slowly, thinking up a topic for her essay.

Afton nodded and wrote down the homework and grined at Olivia.
"Want to meet at the lake ina a bit? i just have to go put my bags up. or mayb we coudl go to CoMC its Professor Dainsie and shes a really good professor shes my favorite."
