A crocodile, a wolf, a triangle and a flame as in fire. Tending for the right section. There were twigs horizonal and vertical. It was impossible there weren't a couple of drops. She wrote a couple of it all down. Professor Kotkin looked at Nadia's notes. "Wow, you have a busy cup. The hat shows you will receive a visitor, maybe even a rival. The wing also could mean visitor or a message. The vase or jug means good health. If it's a lock, then that denotes an obstacle The crocodile means treachory, while the wolf means protection, defensiveness, or loyalty to group. The triangle is good karma or luck and the flame means rapid change or anger. And with the twigs, it looks like you should definitely expect a visitor or two. It looks to me like you will have more than one visitor, and one of them will likely be a rival. One will have some treachory in mind, while the other will be a loyal protective friend. With the good luck and good friend, it looks like you will overcome in whatever the situation brings. |

Laurasia silently sat drinking her tea & reflecting, allowing herself to relax. As she got near to the bottom of the cup, she made sure to leave some of the water at the bottom to allow for slosh room.
She did the necessary rotations & then turned the cup over onto her saucer. Again, she made the necessary rotations. Before turning the cup over to read it she took a few deep breathes & cleared her mind. She slowly turned the cup over & cradled it in her hand while gazing pensively into the cup. She said nothing for a few minutes & simply gazed into the depths of the cup.
After a few more minutes she pulled out her quill & began to write down her notes...
"To the right of the handle & near the rim is an arrow.
At the base of the cup is a cauldron & a few bubbles.
In the mid-section of the cup, & also to the right of the handle, is a snake."
She sat her quill down & patiently waited for the professor to continue.

Wincing slightly, Peony stared into her cup, swishing it about a little. The glop she'd spat out resembled a misshapened flower. Peony turned it around a little. Yes, a flower. Reaching for her notes, she scribbled it down, Flower that looks like someone stepped on it... ...or just spat it out... Shuddup...
OOC: Thanks SerenaSnape for PMing me with the translation of my cyrstal ball reading that you missed. Really appreciated it. Professor Kotkin noticed Peony choking on her tea. "Are you all right dear? Of course it will count, not everyone likes tea. All you see is a flower? At least it is a good symbol of good luck and success. Now make sure you properly drained your cup and see if you can find any other images in the leaves." (ooc: No problem...) |

near the bottom of the cup, however she saw a new moon. at least, it must have been a new moon, unless she turned the cup this way and imagined the 2 spots of tea leaves to be eyes, and it would be a smiley face. ridiculous, she thought, and wrote down "new moon" on the parchment. next to the moon, she saw what was definitely a tiny butterfly, it couldnt have been anything else. checking the cup once more, she determined that there were no more symbols.
Opening up her copy of unfogging the future, she patiently traced the meanings of each symbols and wrote them down on the parchment. her lips curving upwards slightly with what she found to be a very vague description. A house symbolizes success in business or change, a moon means prosperity and fortune and a butterfly suggests success and pleasure. "but in what?" she said out loud.
When the professor passed by her table, unsure of how to attract the professor;s attention she raised her hand awkwardly, asking her softly, "Professor, it looks like im going to be very successful..but is there any way to find out in what?" Professor Kotkin turned to answer Nabiya. "Well, the house could refer to your own home or even security. The butterfly could also mean a regeneration or a new role or position, as well as success or pleasure. The moon, especially a crescent 'new' moon, means it's a time for new beginnings. Together it seems that you will find a change in your role at home, or even here at Hogwarts since it is your home while you are at school. This new role should bring you success and pleasure, which is a good thing! I wish I could be more specific, I could only suggest that you will possibly feel more secure here." |

Kristal looked down into her cup hesitantly. "Well... that's the sun for sure. That's happiness!" Kristal smiled and turned her cup and peered down into the new shape of the dregs. "This looks like some type of round fruit. Professor, what would the fruit mean?" Kristal stared at the leaves looking for something else. She jotted down the symbols she had already found, then looked up.

Heshasa smiled and contiued to stare into her cup.Freeing her mind a bit more she closed ehr eyes and concentrated on her cup. Setting her hand over it, she did not know why she bothered, perhaps it would change them for her. Removing her hand she stared into the cup the dice and palm tree were still there but another shape had put itself together. Starign at it she turned her cup trying to figure out what it was. It looked a bit like and eye.

The cauldron with bubbles could mean you are coming into alot of money. The snake could mean that you will be shedding off old responsibilities or burdens... which the money could help with that, but it could also be a warning to take caution that someone might try to take your money. Which would coincide with the attack intimated by the arrow." |

Patrick stare at his leaves. He didn't see much. A couple of clumps of leaves that had no real shape. His mind wondered to his last assignment for Divination and when the professor would grade or lease the scores.

Oh, and look here dear, this appears to be a horn. The horn is a symbol of plenty, peace and magical strength. And here, lower down, do you see that? It's a horseshoe! Another good sign of fortune and protection. So if the snake represents a regeneration or the shedding of old responsibilities or burdens, it seems you will be shedding some old burdens, and gaining good fortune and protection, with added magical strength. Nadia wrote down all of the description the professor gave, missing maybe a couple of details. And backtracked. Shaking the end of her quill a bit, she pondered for some seconds before pulling a large Tasseography Divination volume from her bag. She pondered she might compare the descriptions from that of the book for better understanding. Quote:

I don't know enough people for that to be possible! But accomplishing it and getting magical or psychic skill or power? That is kind of cool.... Kalaya thought suppressing a smile at the not knowing enough people.
Quickly Kalaya scibbled down some notes on what each thing had meant and how it was clumped together.

hurriedly writing down everything Professor Kotkin had just said, Nabiya smiled, "thank you professor, that is clearer than what i initially thought of." and the professor walked on to another student.
"Professor Kotkin doensn't look like a man!" she said to her neighbour-Lee.

(ooc: No problem...) Flowers, she kept seeing flowers everywhere. First in her crystal ball, then in the tea... Peony shook her head. Ah well, it means good luck, anyhow. That's me-e-e-e-e-e!
Peony made a face. If that's you, I want a Grim to appear.
She turned the cup around, and narrowed her eyes, trying to see symbols in the dregs. All she could make out were wonky gloppings, collected heaps of tea leaves - wait a minute, is 'gloppings' even a word?
She bent forward, and nearly dipped her nose into the cup as she did so. In a little corner was something that looked like a moon... a very bent moon. Either a moon or a really dented in tin-can.
