| Professor Kotkin replied, "Remember, it is important to know that the meaning of the symbols can be determined by where they are found on the cup. Whether you find them on the rim, sides or bottom. The rim represents important things that can be life changing. It also can refer to the immediate future. The sides of the cup can be significant, but not necessarily life changing. The bottom can represent things that are subject to change. It can also represent things far into the future, months or years ahead. There are some that think if a symbol is found directly in the center of the bottom, that it could represent a tragedy. Near the handle, the symbols refer directly to the questioner or their home. The opposite side is for strangers, aquaintances, or things away from home. Left of the handle the past or things moving out of your life. To the right, would represent people or things entering your life." "Can anyone tell me what it means if you find bubbles in your cup?" |

You need to note where they are found in the cup to get a clearer meaning, as well as the other symbols found with it. A circle could represent great success. It could also represent money or presents." |

Jenna drained her cup. She watched for twigs before draining the cup completely. She gazed into the bottom, and wrote what she saw. No twigs, no sides, one rim: square with line. Bottom almost cat-head shaped with circles near 'left ear' She blinked at her notes, then at her cup. She began flipping through her book, wondering what in the world could a cat with bubbles coming out of its ear could mean.

"Bubbles, eh?" Jenna murmered under her breath. Maybe this class wasn't so silly as she thought. She was actually rather enjoying it. She noticed one little bubble near the side of her teacup, and almost right after spotted a knut on the floor near her foot. Rather disappointed, she kept flipping through her book to find the meaning of her leaves.

Heshasa stared into her cup she spotted something in the middl fo the bottom that looked like a pair of dice scribbling this down she cotinued to stare into her cup she saw something near the edge that looked like a string with a knot in it and frayed edges. Scrathcing ehr head she wrote this down and stared at the proffessor, she was never good at interpreting these things.

The square represents the need for caution. The line could represent a journey or enterprise, so you should take caution if you are planning a journey or some other project you might be working on. The cat symbolizes deceit, a false friend, a hint of treachery in someone, while the multiple circles could be a sign of harmony, or even a success of some kind. It would seem that you will succeed in bringing harmony over a situation with someone who has been deceitful to you in the past. Since the cat and circles are found near the bottom of the cup, it could be a couple of months before this is accomplished." |

Together with the line and circle, it would seem that you are headed to some form of success. Since the sun is near the rim, it should come really soon. Is there something you have been seeking, whether academically or otherwise? It seems the leaves are telling you that you will succeed." |

Kalaya stared into her cup trying to see something. Its funny how muggles think this is nonsence and now here I am taking a class on it! Kalaya thought. She found something that looked like a rectangle near the edge.
She scribbled into her notes what she saw making sure to note it was laying on the short side in case it was important.
Kalaya studied her cup some more trying to find some other things. After much studying she saw a bunch of peaks on the side opposite of the handle. She suppressed a laugh, it reminded her of her best friend's brother's hair. But after some more studying she decided it was part of a crown. She scribbled this into her notes as well.
Continuing her search, Kalaya found a star in the very bottom. Hoping it was something good Kalaya wrote what she found in her notes. Counting the sides, she made sure she took note it had 5 sides. She also spotted a straight line near it. After she added it to her notes she looked up, she wasn't very good at interpreting tea leaves.

"A pair of dice.... hmmmm that's interesting. They would be telling you to take a gamble, or a chance on something. Now, the string with the knot and frayed edges.... that looks like a palm tree to me. That would be a sign of good luck or success in any undertaking. If there is something you have been waiting to do, it seems you should take a chance, because it shows that you will be successful." |

Nadia chuckled and went to her tea leaves, choosing some apple and strawberry flavoured tea bags. She went to the actual exercise though still a bit hesitant on this whole divination thing after last time. Without a strainer, she sprinkled the leaves into a teapot, added boiling water and steeped until it was her desired strength. With quill and parchment handy, she tried to relax the most she could (which just to think about it made it more difficult) and poured the water over the leaves.
And a twig appeared. It was floating up there, and then it sunk. Nadia wondered if she should notate that in the first place. Probably better if not. She just didn't want to give the professor any more roll to be... well, just not wanted to encourage her. Besides, she hadn't even sipped.
She tried to get in that contemplation mode, like meditation... realxation... it was uncannily feeling as an experience she had before experienced. Could it be? She let herself relax and tried to get in a zombie-like state if she could, and then trying to keep this state, moved over and reached for the cup with her--- left hand. So it was. She reached and sipped and waited.
So it was. She prefered spin the cup three times as explained. She prefered that anyways to walk body slowly in three circles, pass her hand three times over the cup and/or count to three aloud. Then dumped the content. Left a bit her meditative state in this step.
Breath three times, that she did do. "Aqua boraxit venias carajos," she recited, "Fixitur et patricam explinabit tornare." It seemed to improve her concentration, whatever she was saying, "Hax verticalines pax Fantas marobum, max destinatus, veida porol." Now the level step. She stared at cup and found nothing at her Rim Section. There were much more content on the middle and base sections.
Only then she remembered she was suppossed to zone out and get into a dream-like state to read the leaves. She read clockwise from the handle. First pattern, symbol representing dominant character, quality, state of mind or question. It was a ... what was it? She wanted to say a dot.... or a hat.
Rim section, nothing, at all. Middle section, nearer future, fortnight-- it was a wing kind of symbol and a vase. Maybe a lock if you saw it titling your head. Base section, far future. A crocodile, a wolf, a triangle and a flame as in fire. Tending for the right section. There were twigs horizonal and vertical. It was impossible there weren't a couple of drops. She wrote a couple of it all down.

"Woah...that's really..." She paused for a moment, searching for a word that would best fit how she felt. "Incredible." She said at last, rather embarrassed at the lack of a more meaningful word. "Thanks." She added, smiling. She looked back down at her teacup.

Peony's black hair fell into her eyes as she frowned into her cup. She prefered crystal ball reading, personally. At least she didn't have to worry about gulping down her fortune - and Peony was awfully thirsty after the climb.
She choked on a mouthful as she realised she'd swallowed a bit, and spat it out. Will that still count? Gross.
Wincing slightly, Peony stared into her cup, swishing it about a little. The glop she'd spat out resembled a misshapened flower. Peony turned it around a little. Yes, a flower. Reaching for her notes, she scribbled it down, Flower that looks like someone stepped on it... ...or just spat it out... Shuddup...
OOC: Thanks SerenaSnape for PMing me with the translation of my cyrstal ball reading that you missed. Really appreciated it.

Still sipping her scalding hot tea, Nabiya nearly burnt her tongue in her haste. The moment she was done, she stared into to cup, then realizing she still had the many stpes to take before being able to read anything she continued with the instructions that were given.
taking a deep breath, she slowly peered into her cup the moment she finished. she was afraid that what she was about to see wasn't going to turn out to her advantage. Sure she enjoyed Diviniation, but there's always a chance of knowing something you'd rather not know.
Glancing at Lee beside her, who was making headway with his own cup, she sighed and centred her thoughts before finally taking a deep breath and looking into her cup. She stared, squinted and turned the cup many times before she finally found a shape that resembled...something. near the rim of the cup she saw what strongly resembled a house, and hastily wrote it down on the piece of parchment before looking into the cup again.
near the bottom of the cup, however she saw a new moon. at least, it must have been a new moon, unless she turned the cup this way and imagined the 2 spots of tea leaves to be eyes, and it would be a smiley face. ridiculous, she thought, and wrote down "new moon" on the parchment. next to the moon, she saw what was definitely a tiny butterfly, it couldnt have been anything else. checking the cup once more, she determined that there were no more symbols.
Opening up her copy of unfogging the future, she patiently traced the meanings of each symbols and wrote them down on the parchment. her lips curving upwards slightly with what she found to be a very vague description. A house symbolizes success in business or change, a moon means prosperity and fortune and a butterfly suggests success and pleasure. "but in what?" she said out loud.
When the professor passed by her table, unsure of how to attract the professor;s attention she raised her hand awkwardly, asking her softly, "Professor, it looks like im going to be very successful..but is there any way to find out in what?"

The crown means an elevation in status, finances, or a recognition of worth. The 5 pointed star shows magic or psychic development and with the sraight line showing a journey or enterprise. It looks like you will soon encounter a situation where you wish to accomplish something, but someone will make it hard on you to get there, though it will take time you will accomplish it and gain something in the form of magical or psychic skill or power." |
