Charms Class #1

You enter a large room with a large window directly across from the enntrance. There are several desks all pointing to the front of the room, which is to the left of the door you came in. To the right of the door you came in is another door, which is likely to lead to the teacher's office and living quarters. There is a teacher's desk at the front of the room, and behind it sits a chalk board, on which is written:

Quote:

Please take a seat. Class will begin soon.
As you take your seat, you see a variety of things in the room that seem to have no connection to each other. They are mosly random items: spare quills, bits of parchment, old chairs, books of varying sizes, even an old desk with only three legs. There is also a large cage with many twittering birds in it, and a large crate, which is covered but smells very good.

Alex strolled in the classroom, giving the Professor a small nod as she entered. She looked around and noticed a lot of things, including a cage with twittering birds in it. She frowned for a moment and then quickly and gracefully moved through that rows of seats, all the way at the back of the classroom. She placed her bag underneath her chair and took a seat.

She grabbed her bag, ince again, and took out a piece of parchment and her quill. She was tempted to doodle on it, but she decided not to. Her wand was already out on her desk. Staring up at the Professor, she waited for instructions. Giving a large, but quiet sigh, she watched intently and half-interested as more students started filing in the classroom. She was hoping that Nadia would get there soon. Out of habit, she started tapping her figher lightly on the desk.

Christy_Horcrux00 09-12-2005 06:34 PM

Christy entered in the Charms classroom. She take a seat at the front of the class. She need to be very concentrated. She took out her parchment, quill, book and wand. Then she scanned the room, there were mosly random items: spare quills, bits of parchment, old chairs, books of varying sizes, even an old desk with only three legs. There was also a large cage with many twittering birds in it, and a large crate, which was covered but smelled very good.

Rcaleb 09-12-2005 06:36 PM

Caleb walks in and falls into a chair. He is worn out from his fight with Adz. Charms should help that. He began to look around. This was an interesting classroom. So many things to occupy his thoughts.

harry_luvr 09-12-2005 06:38 PM

Just to prove caleb wrong, Adz walked in and sat down. Adz was very good at charms, and had been called a 'model student' at many times. This should be easy.
"Good morning professor" Adz chanted politely.

Rcaleb 09-12-2005 06:40 PM

Caleb sighed loudly as Adz gave her cheerful greeting to the professor. Then, just loud enough for her to hear. "Suck up enough today. Maybe Slytherin will get a few more points."

falling from grace 09-12-2005 06:44 PM

Alex watched as a Slytherin entered the classroom and had also heard the Gryffindor's comment about sucking up. "And yet, Slytherin seems to be ahead of Gryffindor," she snapped and turned her gaze back on the Professor. There was really no need for rude comments, besides saying "hello" is not really sucking up, it's more about being polite. She shook her head and wondered why was there the need for fighting and rude comments, when there were more improtant things to worry about outside of Hogwarts. They needed to be strong and united on the inside.

harry_luvr 09-12-2005 06:46 PM

Adz smiled at Alex, with a thankful glance.
"I don't need to suck up caleb. I'm already smarter than you...." Adz didn't mean to brag - but he deserved that....

Rcaleb 09-12-2005 06:49 PM

Caleb just sat in his seat fuming. "Stupid Slytherins!" he thought to himself. "Always ganging up on you." As he sat there, he wondered whether Farina would be in this class. "Serves Adz right." he continued his angry contemplation.

Martha 09-12-2005 06:53 PM

Martha walks into the classroom and takes a seat towards the front. She pulls out a few pages of blank parchment, her quill, and some ink, and also her wand. She then waits patiently for class to start.

angeline_fire 09-12-2005 06:59 PM

Sarah entered the classroom, her heavy bag almost dragging her right shoulder down....she wondered where to sit...she made her way towards that Ravenclaw girl ,whose name she dint know.
She asked,"would u mind if i sit here?" indicating to the seat next to her

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 09-12-2005 07:08 PM

Nadia walked in and looked for a spare seat, soon dropping her things by the side of her house mate Alex, only to have where to feel uncomfortable. Sadly, not even a second after she set her bottom on said seat, she already was picking part of a conversation going on which was not the friendest and not to mention provocative from one Gryffindor students.

Not even the start of the class, Nadia though and she raised her hand, meaning to catch the professor attention and ask of her that she would put at end to this before it went out of hand.

TomFeltonLuver 09-12-2005 07:10 PM

Lauren entered the class with a warm smile on her face. She wasvery exicted to start this lesson. She took a seat, and pulled out a piece of parchement and a quill, waiting for the class to begin.

buckeye_forever 09-12-2005 07:10 PM

Kate entered the room from the door which led to her office. She walked up to the front of the room, smiling at the familiar faces of her students. When she reached her desk, she sat down and looked at everyone. She smiled at them for a moment before speaking.
"Hello, everyone. My name is Kate Zoa. I am your Charms professor, as I'm sure you've surmised by now. I see we have many returning students; it's good to see you all again. To the new students, I'm glad you are here and I am sure we'll get to know each other well this year. Now, let's get to work." Kate stood up and walked around her des so she was right in front of the students. "We'll start off basic; who can tell me why it is important to study Charms here at Hogwarts?"

Rcaleb 09-12-2005 07:13 PM

Caleb answered "Because this is the best school in the world!" with a big grin.

Leeness 09-12-2005 07:14 PM

Lee walked into the class at took a seat in the middle. He was glad to see he had just arrived in time. Hearing the question he raised his hand "We learn charms because it is the most basic and most used piece of magic in the wizardring world today, so it is mandatory we know the basics at least," satisfied with his answer he continued to remove his things from his bag.

falling from grace 09-12-2005 07:15 PM

Alex gave a small nod to Nadia and watched her as she sat down. When hearing the Professor talk, she turned her gaze back on her. Raising her hand, she said: "Well, one of the main reasons would be because they are extremley useful at times and you can protect yourself with them. Also, they are useful when duelling with someone, whether it is a friendly duel or an actual one," she added.

With that she put her hand down and watched the other people raise their hands and give answers. She jotted things down at the same time, after all, you could never have too many notes. They will all be useful in the end.

Sarah thought exasperatedly, that this Gryffindor-Slytherin hatred wud never come to an end.
she thought how gud it was taht she was a Ravenclaw...she dint want all this rivalry stuff

TomFeltonLuver 09-12-2005 07:16 PM

Lauren raised her hand slowly. She wasnt sure if her answer was correct, or even close to something like that, but she thought it was worth trying.

"It is important because in the wizarding world, we may come acorss a situation when we need to do something particular that requires a charm or spell to complete it. Also, I believe some charms may be used for security purposes."

She made an uneasy smile, thinking her answer was a bit off.

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 09-12-2005 07:19 PM

Nadia thought she would choke ast the first response. Wasn't that the guy accussing people of being suck-ups?

Nadia raised her hand, "The brand of magic known as Charms include many spells which are essential to every day life activities to a wizard, life-saving spells even. Because it includes the properties of the elements, produces behavior not natural or inner to the objects it enchants, helps in the elaboration of magical objects and because it maybe deals with the most extensive of the list of spells in the science of magic, Charms must be only one of the most important branches in magic."

angeline_fire 09-12-2005 07:20 PM

Sarah thought,she raised her hand
and finally said,"that Charms was important becuz withhout Charms Magical studies wud be incomplete"

Furrhead 09-12-2005 07:26 PM

Farina tried to slide into class as quietly as she could, she really didn't want to get Gryffindor into trouble for her tardiness but she had gotten lost on the way. Spotting Caleb, she quickly sat nearby him and tried to look attentive while resting her Quill on her parchment.

Since class had just begun, Martha looks up at the girl and nods her head 'Yes', and then turns her attention back to the professor.

Kate smiled at Lee's answer. "That's correct, Lee. 5 points to Hufflepuff. Charms is the foundation on which the rest of magic is built. Without a basic knowledge of Charms, all other study is essentially usless in the magical world. That is why almost every specialized profession requires a backround in Charms work, including aurors, healers and many more. Now, a question for the older students; who can tell me what we studied last term?

OOC: To the other people who answered: I'm not ignoring you, but Lee is the first one to answer correctly, so I am awarding him the points and responding to his answer.

Ross Halliwell 09-12-2005 07:28 PM

Ross manouvered his way through the classroom and took a seat in the middle band of desks. He sat down and continued to unpack his things which were necessary in this lesson. He sat there twiddling his quill waiting for the lesson to commence.

Lee raised his hand again "I think we learned the unlocking charm Alohomora, but that might have beent he term before. My mind is really abandoning me at the moment," Lee said not so sure with his answer this time.

falling from grace 09-12-2005 07:32 PM

Alex raised her hand. "From what I remember, we learned something along the lines of Vanishing Charms, Unlocking Charms - Alohomora, Hovering Charms - Wingardium Leviosa, Reparo, Lumos & Nox. Oh and Summoning Charms as well," she added. Errr, there were probably more things, but her memory usually dies on her quite quickly. She blinked and stared up at the Professor, hoping that she listed the right ones. If not ... oh well, it was defintley worth a try.

Christy_Horcrux00 09-12-2005 07:32 PM

Christy wrote Lee's definition in her note book, and waited for the older students response. "Interesting class, what will they say?" Christy thought...

"Professor," Arkee blurted out, her arm waving in the air, "Can't charms also be sort of like our tools for everyday life?"

Rcaleb 09-12-2005 07:37 PM

Caleb just looked at his parchment as he took notes. "How stupid did that sound?" he thought to himself. He scribbled the correct response on his parchment and wiated for more.

Ross Halliwell 09-12-2005 07:40 PM

Ross twisted hsi quill to face hsi parchment he dipped it into his ink pot then began to write down the notes in which would follow the professors question. He paused and waited for the next question.

Karen writes down some points that the students were making and then sat back in her chair, waiting for the Professor to move on.

"Yes, of course. I meant to imply that, but obviously didn't do a very good job. The difference between living as a muggle and living as a witch or wizard is our ability to accomplish tasks with charms instead of doing without. Thank you for helping to point that out."
Kate listened to the answers people were giving, a little disappointed that no one remembered whaat they had done last term. "I guess it's been a longer summer than I thought. Alex, you're right, we did study Wingardium Leviosa
and Accio, levitation and summoning, but it must have been a different term when you did the others. Does anyone know the other two spells we learned last term?"

Rcaleb 09-12-2005 07:47 PM

Caleb just wiated and listened as the older studensts answered. He saw Farina and waved.

Ross Halliwell 09-12-2005 07:49 PM

Ross sat with a blank expression on his face. He copyed down some of the importants facts the professor just divulged and then waited for the older students to answer.

falling from grace 09-12-2005 07:53 PM

"Errr, didn't we learn Finite Incantatum and the Blasting Charm ... I forgot what it was called," she said, very unsure. Frowning, she looked around the room and her eyes finally rested on Nadia. She would surely know the answer to that question. Poking her in the shoulder, she pointed at the teacher. It looked like Nadia had actually drifted away from the class. That wasn't like her. After poking Nadia, Alex turned her gaze back on the Professor and blinked at her. She started biting her lip and that was never a good sign.

Furrhead 09-12-2005 07:54 PM

Farina was scribbling some notes when she saw Caleb wave from the corner of her eye. She waved back smiling shyly and then waited for the older students to respond.

Zekk 09-12-2005 08:00 PM

Zekk looks around nervously before answering the teacher. "Didn't we also study a the silencing charm? I remember one angry canary." He smiles at the memory.

Nixhearted 09-12-2005 08:02 PM

Cherry moved slightly in her seat. She was furious with herself, because it seemed like she couldn't remember a single thing from the lessons she had attended last year. And that made her mad with herself because Nadia and the other Slytherins whom she hadn't met before, Lee and all the others seemed like they all remembered everything, and she just sat there, as if she hadn't been at Hogwarts the previous term at all. She wanted to scream but thought better of it. The Professor wasn't harsh, she knew that from the previous term as well, but screaming in anger would definately not be allowed.

She put these thoughts to the back of her mind for now, as she strained her ears to hear better what was being said.

caleb jsut sits there amazed. Everything sounds so foreign to him. "How will I ever get this stuff?" he wonders in his head.

Furrhead 09-12-2005 08:46 PM

Farina looked up when the slytherin girl answered the question. She had been day dreaming again and was really tempted to ask Caleb if he wanted to go out to the lake. Ignoring her nerves, she wrote on a spare piece of parchment saying, 'I'll understand if you don't want to but I'm itching to go to the lake, want to join me?'
She then passed the note to him as quickly as she could before she changed her mind.

Caleb read the note, looked at Farina and nodded. He mouthed the words, "meet you there."

Kristal pulled out a piece of parchment and took notes. This was her first year and she wanted to remember all of it.

Kate nodded at the two students who answered, "That's correct. I thought we'd use this first class to mostly review the spells we learned last term. Older students, this will be a good chance for you to perfect you're abilities; younger students, this will give you a chance to learn some extra charms this term. The spells are simple enough to start out with, the hard part is controling them and knowing your limitations." Kate made a flicking motion with her wand toward the chalkboard and words appeared:

Quote:

Levitation: Wingardium Leviosa, wand motion: swish and flick
Summoning: Accio, wand motion: flick towards desired object
Banishing: Afficio, wand motion: flick towards desired object
Silencing: Silencio, wand motion: jab at desired object
"Directions for each spell are on the board. If you need any help or further clarification, don't hesitate to ask me or an older student for help. You may begin practicing."

HPLover176 09-12-2005 09:26 PM

*Cari wonderd around a class until she found a perfect seat by herself, cari took out her wand, got parchment out... then she sat looking at the professor waiting for her to talk*

Quickly enters classroom, and finds the closest sit open and tries to sit in it with out beein noticed.

OOC: Sorry, just got home from school :worried:

Ashleygonewild 09-12-2005 09:33 PM

Elizabeth sat next to Cari exicted for class and whispered "hey" too her.

Tao 09-12-2005 09:38 PM

Tao quickly wrote everything down. It's true that she had done all these spells last term, but she thought it best to just write everything down again for safe keeping. She then looked around nervously and watched as other students pulled out their wands and began practicing. Excited to do something for school she quickly got out her wand as well and began pracitcing each charm. She did quite well. The practice she did before the new term had really paid off.

SweetCatastrophe 09-12-2005 09:45 PM

Anila, who had taken a seat with Nadia and Alex - whom she remembered from the few meetings she had with the other Slytherins - whispered a "Hello", and pulled out her wand and began the Accio and Afficio charms, the few that she hadn't studied in depth last term.

She began practicing with a spare textbook from her bag. She banished it first to the opposite wall - where it hit with an echoing thunk, and then slid to the floor- and then summoned it to her, though it landed further than she was aiming for.

She winced slightly at her mistakes, but kept practicing.

pippin 09-12-2005 09:45 PM

Jenna made sure to write everything down quickly. Accio and Silencio she knew ver well, and only did them a few times. She drew her quill towards her, and raised her wand.

"Afficio quill!" The quill glided off the table smoothly and landed on the floor in front of her.

"Accio." She murmered, and the quill flew back to where it started from. She smiled despite herself, but immediately hid it with a face of concentration.

Christy wrote the directions for each spell in her note book and started practcing. She started with Accio and Levitation Charm. She had been successful in her Levitation Charm, but Accio was more conplicated. She made some mistakes but kept practcing.

Sunny_Frog 09-12-2005 09:52 PM

Sunny wrote the new Charms down and then began practicing. Accio and Afficio were relatively easy for her, with small objects at least. She was able to perform the levitating charm on her feather as well. She frowned when she saw the silencing charm. How was she supposed to practice that one? She looked around and didn't see any animals in the class, so she continues to practice the summoning, banishing, and levitating charms instead.

TomFeltonLuver 09-12-2005 09:59 PM

Lauren quickly copies the charms down, while repeating them in her head. "Ok, Time to practice" She looked around the room and saw many students practicing the charms. She quietly took out her want and place her quill down in front of her. "Wingardium Leviosa!" She said, and as she did, her quill began to float. She gave a quick smile, and then moved on to the next charm.

ginnymel 09-12-2005 10:00 PM

I write down the Charms that Professor Zoa had on the board and pull a few things out of my bag to practice on.

I give the Accio Charm a try first.

"Accio Book" The book kind of quivers for a moment, but stays on the desk.
"Accio Book!" I say again. This time it makes it half way to me and drops. "Well, that was a little better." I put the book back in starting place.
"Accio Book!" This time it makes it all the way to me and I smile at my progress.

Next I try the Levitation Charm, one I'm familiar with already, but want to refresh.

"Wingardium Leviosa" I say as I do the wand movement. My parchment pack hovers slightly off the desk and raises up a little at a time. Happy that it works better every time I say "Finite Incantatem" and the parchment goes back to it's spot on the desk.

I continue on with the Charms and am happy that I get each one after a few tries.

Dan's sugar pie 09-12-2005 10:07 PM

Silvie looked around. She felt so confused! She read the instructions in the board and wrote them down in her parchment. After taking out her wand, she stared at a book sitting on top of a shelf. "Accio book", she said a bit unsure, but when the book came flying to her hands, she grinned and kept practicing.

Cho Chang* 09-12-2005 10:12 PM

Anna took a seat near the back of the class, taking out her quill and some parchment for note taking. Glancing around the room she looked for someone she knew reletivly well. No luck. She didn't know many people since it was her second year at school and was too shy to introduce herself. Sighing to herself she looked down at the blank peice of parchment on her desk and writting her name on it.

She tried to reach back into last year to recall some of the charms she had learned. "Accio, Affio..." but they had all been said before. "No need repeating them. She thought to herself listening to the professor.

Coping down the list of spells she reached into her bag and pulled out her wand. Smiling to herself she ran her finger down the list of spells once more. "I guess i'll start out with..." She paused to think of the one she wasn't very good at. "..Accio." She decided.

Gripping her wand she muttered the words with a flick towards her spell book. She sent it flying across the room, clattering to a stop on the other side of the room. The pages seemed to be a bit wrinkled.Going over to pick it up she thougt to herself, "that one will need a bit of work" She thought and attemped once more.

summersun25 09-12-2005 10:16 PM

Summer takes out her wand and trys to use teh Accio spell to bring the quill forward. "Accio Quill!" she says as it lays there. "Ok Summer you can do this, try it again" She thinks to herself. "Accio Quill!" she repeats this time with the quill comming flying at her.

Ama 09-12-2005 10:35 PM

Amaris managed to write several notes in her parchment in a rather untidy scrawl. She smiled at the Professor and nodded. Charms was one of her favorite classes. It was also one of the few things she was actually good at. Care of Magical Creatures was the other one. Amaris had always had a love for magical creatures and nonmagical as well. Well, all except mice. Making a mental note to visit the animal hospital Professor Dainsie was in charge of Amaris patted her robes as if looking for something.

A humming sound was coming from the top of the Gryffindor girl's head. Ama smiled and took off her hat, pulling from inside it a lilac pigmy puff. She placed it on her desk as the little fur ball made noises showing his content state at being touched and handled.

"All right, Booger," she whispered and pulled out her wand. "I'm not going to hurt you. Don't worry."

Deciding that she would start with the easiest of Charms, the girl cleared her throat.

"Wingardium Leviosa," she muttered and did the proper wand movement by swishing her wrist from left to right and flicking once quickly.

Booger the pigmy puff began to levitate first a little shaky but then quite smoothly. Amaris let it hover for about three feet from her desk before slowly letting the creature down. Amaris quickly picked up Booger and stroked it, to make sure he wasn't too frightened of his latest experience.

Padfoot 09-12-2005 10:36 PM

Heshasa copies down the spells on the board. Taking out her quill and wand she points and her quill and says Afficio quill. The quill just lays there staring inenly at it she says again Afficio quill this time the quill slides under the chair in front of her.

Excited at her success she quickly galnces at the board Accio she thinks. Ok she said quietly. Accio quill, the quill just sat there and did not move. After three more failed attempts the quill came flying back to her and gratefully she decided to try levitating it.

Wingardium Leviosa the said under her breath. Swishing and flicking her wand she was excited to see that at once in rose into the air. She let it down with a thump and moved on.

Silencio...hmmm. Heshasa took a mouse from a near by box and jabbed at it poking in in the eye.Opps blushing she tried again sliencio. She mouse squeaked louder than ever. Getting frustared she spoke clearly and strongly jabbing just right. The mouse fell slient and tried to bite her hand that was lying on the table.

Smiling to herself she replaced the mouse and continued to practice the rest of the charms some more.

DanielHott_HesMine 09-12-2005 11:00 PM

Jessica quickly jotted down some notes, then practiced the levitation charm. As she was levitating her quill, she rememberd the previous term. She had been able to levitate a chair. She pulled her chair out and practiced the spell on that. Her first few tries were pathetic. After her 6th try, she finally managed to get it 2ft. off of hte ground. Three times she acheived this, and decided to go onto something harder. She placed several spell books from her bag onto the chair and continued to practice the spell.

If her memory wasn't failing her, she could remember that she had some trouble the previous year with the silencing charm. She put her books and chair away, and retrieved a bird from its cage. She jabbed her wand at the animal, several times before the birds cawing faded. She tried again and again, having trouble. Getting frusterated, she took a deep breath to calm her senses. After a few more tries, she finally made progress.

Pacilla sat in her seat, carefully taking some neat notes on all that they had said. Unfortunately, she didn't remember much of what they had learned last term so she couldn't answer the question and was glad for a review. She wrote down the charms and wondered which she should practice using first. Since she didn't have much of a preference, she thought she'd practice "Wingardium Leviosa".

She pulled a quill out of her bag and placed it neatly on the desk. Raising her wand, she cleared her throat, and quietly muttered "Wingardium Levi -" She paused, turning red, she forgot how to say the last part of the charm. She reread the charm and made sure she had it all memorized and took a deep breath and started again. "Wingardium Leviosa!" She said, but forgot to do the 'swish-and-flick' motion, and only did a 'swish-and-poke'. Oh, goodness, I've got to work on that more... She tried a couple more times and finally had it near perfection, and then she started trying to summon her quill towards her...

Taking a leaf from Amaris Chaos' book (who would have thought? ), Nadia reached for her bag pocket to take a fluffy, pinkish-voilet ball of furr that was her new Pygmy Puff, of the name Pufflespuff but it was Puffles for short. As soon as her hand had reached for the creature, Nadia found the creature had its mouth already attatched to her hand. By the look of it, trying to eat Nadia.

"Aren't you a bit small to be a depredator?" Nadia asked, frowning at the creature and placing it on the desk. With a flick of her wand, Nadia had pushed the creature aside with Afficio, and as it reached the wall of the classroom, Nadia performed the Summoning charm with the same gesture to drag it back before it fell. She commented with some content, "What do you say, Puffles? Not bad, eh?"

The little creature looked somewhat winded to say the least. At some point, not as much as Nadia made Puffles hover over her but as she let the hairball fall back down and therefore watching the creature's expression of fear at said fall, Nadia started to get concerned if this would be considered animal cruely. Worried also because of the animal health ('Yeah, like you care...'), Nadia let it get away without any more of that experimenting and staying with Silencing Charms, at least with it.

Her Silencing Charms had improved since her first year, she must admit. At this point, even if the Pygmy Puff made little to no noise on its own (unless it ate), she was able to perform a whole-body silence charm. Even if Puffles made another type of noise, like, er, walk with rubber shoes Nadia could have performed for it, nothing would be heard.

HOSAgirl 09-12-2005 11:11 PM

Kelli coppied down the notes up on the board and started practicing them. "Wingardium Leviosa" she said pointing her wand toward a feather she had. Nothing happened. She tried again, "Wingardium Leviosa" the feather raised off the table about an inch. "Finally", she thought. She practiced it a little more before trying Accio.

Christy_Horcrux00 09-12-2005 11:25 PM

Christy pulled out some books from her bag and started practcing Accio Charm. She flicked her wand towards the book;

'Accio Book' nothing happened. She tried again but the effect was the same. She tried doing it with her quill. Still nothing...She returned again to her book..'Accio Book!' This is not working... Christy thought. She re-read her notes again and tried again.

'Accio book!' the book started moving but it stoped before it could reach Christy's hands. She tried a a few more time until she reached perfection. The Accio and Levitation Charm were good, so she went to the next ones.

Banishing: Afficio, wand motion: flick towards desired object
Silencing: Silencio, wand motion: jab at desired object...

'Hummm...I think I'll start with the Silencing one' she said to herself. The Silencing Charm was harder, but she used to see her mother using it in their old Fwooper, so it couldn't be soo difficult. As she scanned the room, she saw a little mouse..."Petrificus Totalus!" and the mouse froze like a rock. Christy saw a couple of cages near the door..."Accio cage!" nothing happened...she tried again and the cage came flying slowly to her. She grabbed it with a smile and put the mouse inside it. 'Finite Incantatem' and the mouse started screeching inside the cage. "Silencio" but the lil' one didn't stop...

Roma 09-13-2005 12:06 AM

Roma took notes of the name of the charm and it's movements. She took out her quill and set it before her. It was a very easy lesson. Too easy for her fourth year, in fact. She took out her wand and pointed it the quill. "Wingardium Leviosa," she said with the swish and flick motion of her wand. The quill slowly and steadily started to rise off of the table. She took it about a foot away from the desk before letting it go down again. Well, that was awfully easy.

Ozzy 09-13-2005 12:09 AM

Ozzy took out his quill, some ink and his Charms book. He scribbled down some notes before deciding to practace the spells on the black board. "Wingardium Leviosa". He said out load once to make sure he had pronounced it right. he placed his quill on the desk and pulled out his wand. "Wingardium leviosa!" He said as he gave his wand a swish and flick and directed his wand towards his quill. The object floated 5 feet in the air before he let it fall neatly on his desk. He smiled and took some more notes before trying out the other spells listed on the board.

Christy_Horcrux00 09-13-2005 12:33 AM

Christy kept trying the silencing charm on the mouse. But it always went wrong. She wrote her mistakes and review her notes and books.

jab at desired object...jab at desired object...jab at desired object she repeated to herself. Concentrate Christy.... she did the right wand move and said "Silencio!" the mouse stoped screeching, but after a few secondes he started screaming again.' I was almost there!' she said to herself. She kept trying...sometimes she grabbed the wand too firmly or too softly. She needed balance. The charm was getting quite perfect, but she decided to advance to the next one.

Banishing: Afficio, wand motion: flick towards desired object...

'Finally...' she muttered to herself. She re-read the note a couple of times and practised the wand moving. Then she turned to her book..."Afficio!" the book moved a few milimetres away. Well..that's a start...

"Afficio!"

"Afficio"...

"Afficio"...

It was going very well. But the distance was always the same. flick towards... 'Ok, Flick towards the object. You will move you lil' book!! '

"Afficio!" the book stood in the same place. 'You must be joking...' she said to the book. 'Let's try again'

"Afficio"..."Afficio!" "AFFICIO!" the book didn't move. It looked like a rock. 'Well...scream with the book won't help' Christy said to herself. concentration..

"Afficio!" YAY! finally she reppeled the book, he flew mettres away from her. Christy was smiling at her accomplishment.

ginny_first_year_pureblood 09-13-2005 12:53 AM

Ginny bit her lip softly, fiddled with her wand a bit, and then decided to try the spells. She copied them down from the board quickly, and then started to try them. She sighed in despair, with them not working.

Ginny frowned slightly, and then tried again, I will Not give up! She thought to herself as she picked up her wand once more to try again.

ladybird 09-13-2005 01:50 AM

Birdy giggled to herself, finger to her lips in a futile attempt to stiffle the nosie. Her eyes were on the ceiling where her ancient runes textbook was hovering six feet above her head. Her ink bottle was wobbling dangerously in midair, climbing up towards her teetering book. Charms was a good subject for Birdy, it didn't have the strict atmosphere of transfiguration and was so much more fun.

A whistle went off in Birdy's coat pocket. It was nothing out of the ordinary and she was hardly ruffled as she focused her attention on her rising ink bottle. Then, a plume of flame from the pocket shot up dangerously close to Birdy's left cheek. The book fell with a clomp on Birdy's toe. With a yelp, she dropped her wand to cradle it, and the inkwell smashed to her desk, spraying her face with violet splotches. The fire turned pink, then frizzled out as soon as it had started.

She sat, dazed for a moment, with a look of utter puzzlement on her face. Then, she gave a high laugh, rocking back and forth on her chair with the hillarity of the situation. Wiping tears from her eyes, Birdy reached into her coat and pulled out a roughly carved wooden owl the size of her thumb. She raised her wand, "Afficio" The owl skidded to the end of the desk and hovered for a moment before- "Accio"- it made a point turn and flew back into her outstretched palm. Pleased with having mastred the charm after four years at Hogwarts, she raised her hand and started again.

XxNoelxX 09-13-2005 02:14 AM

Noel copied down the information on all the charms and then she drew her wand. She managed to banish a piece of old parchment completely, but her quill ended up in tearing itself in half when she tried to summon it. Charms had never been her strong suit but she was rather impressed with her own banishing charm. She continued to practice summoning.

katep 09-13-2005 02:14 AM

Kate had written down the instructions on the board and with learning the swish and flick movement in Transfiguration she decided to start out with the Levitation Charm. Kate placed her book in front of her and practiced her wand movement, then on the last one she called out "Wingardium Leviosa" and the book hovered quite nicely above her desk. She brought the book down and then decided she might try the Summoning Charm. She walked to the end of the room and pointed her wand at her book. She flicked her wand and called "Accio Book". The book hovered at the desk and then flew at her at blinding speed. Kate ducked from the book before it hit her at high speed. The book hit the wall behind her and fell to the floor. Kate felt embarrassed at the noise. She smiled and quickly grabbed her book. She decided to try again. She knew she needed to try and control it.

roxy<3hp 09-13-2005 02:21 AM

roxana was looking all around this was her first time in charms class. She put her quill down and decided to try to the Banishing spell. She saw Christy do the spell. she tried it
"Afficio!"

"Afficio"

she feelt that she wasn't getting it she tried again...
"Afficio!"

"Afficio" ...
she looked around to see if any of her fellow students that mastered the bashing spell were willing to help her on the bashing spell.

LilyBlack 09-13-2005 02:50 AM

Lily raised her wand anfter copyin down the directions on each spell.
"Accio"
Lily pointed at her bag that she had placed a few seats up.Her bag flew to her at an alarmin speed smakin her in the face."Ouch"she muttered as she rubbed the spot.Replacin the bag Lily tried again and did it right this time. With a nod to herself she moved on to the other spells.
"Afficio"Lily pointed at her bag once again this time to send it a few seats up.This time it worked great.Movin on she tried levitaion"Wingardium Leviosa"
Lily this time pointed at her kitten Artemis.Whom in turn levitated about a foot off the desk where she had been layin and watchin.
Lily smiled and lowered the cat whom in turn proceeded to meow at her in anger."Silencio"
Lily laughed at her kitten whom havin not herd it's voice any more curled up.
"Oh! I'm sorry Artemis,Ok I'll fix you up."Lily undid the spell and picked up her mad kitten."Sorry.I'll be nice and warn you first next time,"

pippin 09-13-2005 11:21 AM

"Accio spell book." Her spellbook came towards her.

"Okay." Jenna concentrated hard on the book, and the destination where she wanted it to go.

"Afficio book!" The book wiggled towards the end of the table.

"Okay, not bad, but I can make it smoother." Jenna murmered to herself and tried again.

jrm20 09-13-2005 01:23 PM

james wrote down all the charms and their wand movement. Before he started to practice with them. The summoning and bannishing charms were very easy for james. The Levitation and silencing charms were a bit harder for james, since he has not performed them since the last school term.

wizcat 09-13-2005 01:59 PM

Rosa quickly wrote down everything that was on the blackboard and then grabbed her wand. she put the parchment and ink back in her bag and put her quill un the table. she'd practiced this before, so she should be able to do it.. she raised her wand, swished it and flicked it and said 'wingardium leviosa!' one corner of the quill came up, but then it fell down again and all that happened was that it rolled over. 'wingardium leviosa!' rosa said again. this time the quill went up a few inches before it fell down again. this was going ok... she decided to continue with accio. she put her quill at the end of her desk and said 'afficcio!' but nothing happened. hadn't she practiced this before. she should be able to now... 'afficio!' she repeated. 'afficio!' the third time she tried, her quill flew up and landed on the floor in front of her desk. 'accio!' she said. her quill stroke the top of her desk and fell to the floor again. 'wingardium leviosa!' rosa said, and she reached for the quill as soon as it raised over her desk. maybe she was really getting the hang of this...

Harry is nocking on the door softly, then enter.he's searcing for an empty sit,and sit on it.then he sais "I'm realy, realy sorry I late proffesor!" then he took out fron his bag all the stuff and start wrightning everything that was on the blackboard.

Leeness 09-13-2005 03:34 PM

Lee smiled at the simplicity of the spells. He quickly noted down the spells on a piece of parchment in orange ink, for future reference. He tucked it neatly in his charms textbook.

Feeling ready he stood up and removed his wand from behind his ear, which it was resting upon. He took Zulu, who was resting on his shoulder, and neatly placed her on the desk so that she was disturbed when he was performing his wand movements.

He looked down onto his parchment to see that he would be practising the levitation charm first. He coughed slightly to remove any chance of an unclear incantation and then swished and flicked his wand, pronouncing "Wingardium Leviosa". He watched as the baby blue spell relinquished once it made contact with a nearby book. As he had hoped the book began to sway in mid air quite elegantly.

Quite proud and certain of himself now he was ready to try his next spell. Summoning and Banishing charms were generally easy depending on the size of the object in need of summoning or banishing. He levitated the book onto the desk which was an aisle away and rested it there. Concentrating his thoughts on allowing the book to come towards him, he flicked his wand towards the object and followed this with the incantation "Accio Book!", just like he had done before with the levitation charm. The book happily transported itself from the desk to Lee's free hand.

Staring at the book once more he concentrated on sending it back from where it once came. He repeated the wand movements but followed this with a different incantation "Afficio Book!". Surely enough the book transported itself back.

Lee manually retrieved the book back to his own desk and was ready to perform the next spell. This one was more advanced than the other three, but he had had a years practise with all three of them, so there was no excuse on failing the use of one of them.

Taking one of the annoying talking parrots from the teachers desk, he placed it on his own. He cleared his mind and took deep breaths to help keep it clear, he then tried to block the sound the parrot was producing from his mind. Thinking he was ready to give it a shot he kept his concentration and jabbed his wand at the object, this time the following incantation was "Silencio". Lee closed his eyes at first not wanting to see the result, but once the sound of a yacking parrot and disintegrated he opened them to be revealed to a complete success of a spell.

He tidied his desk completely happy with his work and then wrote a not of his efforts and what he did, since it may come in handy come exam time. He returned his wand behind his ear and his bat upon his shoulder and then rested his head upon his hand awaiting further instructions, homework or dismissal.

Kate watched the boy enter her class extremely late. "That'll be 5 points. Don't let it happen again or it will be 10." She turned from him and continued to patrol the class, watching as people practiced the charms she'd set before them.

OOC: I've made it very clear that you should not announce your lateness. Next time just RP as if you'd been in class the whole time.

Rcaleb 09-13-2005 03:39 PM

Caleb continued to work on his spells. He eally enjoyed the Accio charm. He kept having his book come from his bag, and then back in. "What a great spell for a lazy boy!" he remarked out loud to himself.

After a few more times of trying that, he tried to figure out what he needed to use to try the Silencio charm. His mind and eye immediately went to Adz. Knowing that probably would be frowned upon, he tried to figure something else.

Marnie sat there staring around the class she was really bad at these she had made her birds voice squeak louder than before
''Someone help please'' Marnie shouted

Amy Tonks 09-13-2005 03:48 PM

Amy pulled parchment from her bag, dipped her quill in the ink and began scribbling down the notes from the board.

She paused after writing the final word and cleared her throat. One by one, she began practicing the charms she'd learned previously, smiling as she accomplished them.

R348753 09-13-2005 03:49 PM

luna stiffled a chuckle as the late comer sat down,
"wingardium leviosa" she said confidently and her quill floated up and up then fell back down on to the desk
"yes! and ive only tried a few times!"

ZodiacGirl 09-13-2005 07:56 PM

Ginny writes everything from the board, and attempts the charm. After a while she accomplishes it and smiles proudly.

Christy_Horcrux00 09-13-2005 08:27 PM

Christy was quite proud of herself. She had done perfect charms a few time. She was getting professional with the Levitating Charm. Summoning and Banishing charms were turning very easy depending on the size of the object in need of summoning or banishing. She levitated the book onto the desk many times and the quill too. This last one was very easy. Concentrating her thoughts on allowing the book to come towards him, she flicked her wand towards the object and followed this with the "Accio Book!" charm. the book came flying to her.

The Silencing Charm was more difficult. "Silencio" she said as she jab her wand at the little mouse. The mouse become stutterer 'Oh ...I was almost there' After a few more times the incantation became perfect.

Silvie approached the girl shouting for help. "Hi, I'm Silvie" she handed out her hand. "I see that your having a little trouble with the Silencio spell, right? I suppose you are a first year then? But don't worry! I'll help you" "Well, I don't mean to brag, but I'm actually pretty good at this one!". Silvie took out her wand. "Look! Just do this and then this" she said while moving her wand around. "Say the spell loud and clear, and aim at the target holding your wand firmly." Silvie looked at the girl and smiled kindly. "Go ahead! Try!"

Emily was writing the last things in her notebook, When she was finished she decided to give it all a try. She reached in ehr bag for something light she found her spare quill and set it on the desk as took a step backwards and tried the incatation. The book made a feble struggle to move but in the end did not at all. She tried again this time the quill got off the desk an inch and fell abck down.
"Ohh i cant do this"
Even after she said that she tried one more time, this time the quill made it up into the air and a few inches towards her but it fell shortly afterwards. She kept trying and by the time she had done it over a dozen times she was about ready to give up.
'one more try then ill be done' she thought
She tried once more and this time the quill made it all the way to her hand. She was sooo happy she couldnt believe it happwened she had really done it. She smilied around at everyone. She had done the charm and even if it took her forever she was still happy.

secretlover101 09-13-2005 08:58 PM

Then Emily figured out she was doing the wrong spellshe felt embarassed adn alone but she now new why the animal was sitting in front of her. She tried this charm. It seemed even more difficult than the first now she had to keep her spirits up long enough to get the caharm right. Everytime she tried to make to bird quiet it seemed as though it kept on sqawking even louder. She kept trying although difficult ashe knew she would eventually get it. By her fourth try she had done it. the bird kept opening its mouth but no sound came ut. Again she was so happy she had finally done it. But she hoped no one noticed she was doing to wrong charm. She had finally gotten two charms correct all in one classs period she hwas soo happy.

pippin 09-13-2005 09:04 PM

"Accio." This time, Jenna called the book towards her. She stacked the book with her sketchbook on top.

"Concentrate. Concentrate." Jenna gritted her teeth, muttering to herself.

"Afficio!" The books flew towards the end of the table so fast that they flew off the end and onto the floor. The cover of her already-beat-up sketchbook fell off, and left a few pages askew.

"Accio." The books, cover, and pages flew towards her.

"Reparo." She murmered, blushing at her stupid mistake. The pages reassembled themselves and the cover flew back into place. Ugh, I'm an idiot." She thought angrily to herself. I need to practice more with just the spellbook.

Hastily, she placed her spellbook, alone, into position, and tried banishing it. It worked much smoother than when she first tried it, and could easily reach the end of the table without falling off.

Iphigeneia 09-13-2005 09:23 PM

After swiftly noting down the necessary wand motions and incantations and taking a few practice runs (not all of which were too successful), Iphigeneia held out her wand once more, took a ready stance and pointed at a pair of spectacles.

"Accio Spectacles!" she cried out, with a wand flick towards the spectacles. The spectacles zoomed across the table towards her--

Afficio Spectacles!

The spectacles came to a sudden stop and took off in direction it had come from. It launched itself off the table - it was going to shatter on the stone floor...

Wingardium Leviosa!

The spectacles paused in mid-air, and slowly, following the motion of Iphigeneia's wand, it began to sway upwards until it was back on the table were it had been in the beginning...

"Excellent," Iphigeneia murmured. She looked around, then pointed her wand at an unopened ink bottle...

ilovedaniel 09-13-2005 09:37 PM

Lacie sat straight to say her spells correct and do them right. She open her notebook to copied the notes that seem important. She was writing as fast as she could.

She cleared her throat, "Wingardium Leviosa" waves her wand at her book, her wand moves like the swish and flick motion, it flies up and then drops on the floor.

"Accio Spellbook" She calls her spellbook from the floor, then, it appears on the desk then flies toward her and it hits her in the stomach. She whispered "Ouch!" with the sharp pain from her stomach.

"Silencio Spellbook" She says the spell and her book flies off the table and hits the floor. She saids "Afficio Spellbook" and easily comes up from the floor but doesn't hit her stomach. "Silencio" She says the spell and gives a blue sparkle around the book.

Ama 09-13-2005 10:04 PM

Amaris placed Booger on the desk and smiled at the lilac pigmy puff. Deciding it was best to use an inanimate object for this charm, Ama decided to use her own hat. She placed that besides Booger and stepped about three feet away from the desk.

"Accio hat," said Amaris eloquently and watched the hat zoom towards her smoothly.

Catching it with her free hand, Amaris opted for the Banishing Charm to get it back to the desk.

"Afficio hat."

The hat landed on top of the desk and skidded almost falling over the other side of it. Amaris tried this combination of Charms before taking a seat. It was time for a little break. Then she would work on the silencing charm.

Padfoot 09-13-2005 10:17 PM

Heshasa was so excited being a first year she had done her charms nearly perfectly she thought to herself maybe I'll be good at THIS subject.

Ozzy 09-13-2005 10:30 PM

Ozzy looked up to the black board and sighed. "Accio". He said to himself quietly before grabbing his wand and placing his quill at the far end of his desk. He jabbed his wand at the quill. "Accio quill!" He said a bit too loud for his liking, the quill zoomed towards him and landed neatly in his left hand. He grinned and took some notes before he tried the others.

HPhobbit 09-13-2005 11:20 PM

Pacilla continued to work on getting better at the spells. She had done quite good at leviating her quill, and she was getting close to mastering the summoning charm. "Accio!" She chanted, flicking her her wand towards a book that she had placed on the edge of the desk, she was standing about a foot away from her desk. When she said the words, the book slid across the table and started to fly towards her, but then Pacilla noticed that the book was a bit wobbly and she held her hands out to catch it if it fell, though it didn't and flew right into her arms instead. Hugging the book as she stood back up, she placed it on the desk and tried again.

After she had gotten the charm to work on the book very well, she started to practice the banishing charm. She put a piece of paper on her desk and flicked her wand towards it as she said "Affio-" NO!! It's Affi-CI-o, bad me, bad! She flicked her wand again after clearly saying "Afficio!" The paper slid all the way to the end of the desk and even went a bit over but not all the way. Scratching her head, Pacilla tried a couple more times to get the spell good.

Pacilla looked around the room for something to silence so she could practice the silencing charm. She noticed some birds in a cage up front where some other students had gotten a bird from and took one out and brought it to her table. The little critter was cute but also very loud for such a small little feathery birdy. After looking at the bird for a few seconds, she cleared her throat and said "Silencio." As she said the incantation, she made to jab the bird with her wand but of course did not actually hit it. The bird was still yapping. Pacilla tried practicing with it a few more time until she got it again. Then she put the bird back and practiced the leviation charm again while she was waiting for furthur instruction.

roxy<3hp 09-13-2005 11:34 PM

since everyone was beening so "concentrated" on there charms Roxana had to work on her own charm. She finallly did get the hang of it tough.

Martha 09-14-2005 12:07 AM

Martha sighs and picks up her wand. She had learned all of these charms last year. She had been hoping to move on...the Professor had said it was just a review. She pulls out her Standard Book of Spells, Grade 2 and places it on the floor a few feet away from her. She flicks her wand at it and says, "Accio Book!" The book floats smoothely and lands back on her desk. Then Martha tried the banishing charm. Flicking her wand once more at the book, she says, "Afficio Book!" The book moved across the room and landed against the wall, exactly where she had wanted it to land.

Then, Martha decides to practice the levitating charm on her book since it was already across the room. She smiles and confidently swishes and flicks her wand as she says, "Wingardium Leviosa!" The book rose in the air and hovers, as if waiting for her next command. She waves her wand towards her while thinking, "Accio Book!" The book then floats back in her direction and lands on her desk.

Happy that she hadn't forgottten the charms she had learned last year, Martha continues to practice, using a variety of things in the classroom.

Rachel walks into the Charms classroom a little uneasy and says "Hello" to the Charms teacher. She enrolls telling him that she is a 1st year Ravenclaw and hopes to excel well in the class. Rachel smiles and takes her seat.

Laurasia_Malfoy 09-14-2005 01:30 AM

Spotting Nadia working with her new pygmy puff, Laurasia thought that this was a wonderful idea as well. She pulled a small bundle out of her bag & unwrapped her new tiny lilac colored pygmy puff. Not having a name for it yet, she just called it baby.

"Okay baby, we're going to do a bit a magic now." She set the small creature on a desk & walked a bit away from it. Pulling out her wand, she flicked it towards the animal. "Accio pygmy!" The small creature automatically began to come towards her. Quickly she flicked her wand at the on-coming pygmy & called out "Afficio!" Suddenly the pygmy reversed directions & landed back on top of the desk that it had started from.

Smiling Laurasia walked back to the small creature. "Okay, heres another one baby..." She did the appropriate wand motion & called out "Wingardium Leviosa!" the pygmy immediately started to rise. "Woah!" Laurasia called out, as the animal began to climb too high. "Finitae Incantatum!" When the animals dropped, she caught him deftly in her hand.

Okay, one more sweety. Mum needs you to hum a bit. Can you hum for mum?" She gently stroked the pygmy's soft fur & it began to hum softly. "Good." She jabbed her wand towards the pygmy. "Silencio!" Suddenly there was no longer any noise coming from the small animal. Laurasia smiled. "Finitae Incantatum." Just as quickly the humming returned. Laurasia picked up the baby pygmy & stroked him for a few minutes before returning him to his wrappings & her bag.
