Ready to check out? Then you've come to the right place!
Once you've finished your shopping, you need to escort yourself to the check out counter located on the right side of the store. The shopkeeper can usually be found sitting on the wooden stool just behind the counter, but, if he isn't there at the moment, you are more than welcome to ring the green bell and just wait for him to show up.
Please place your candy on the counter so that he can see what you got and give you the right price.
Also located on the counter is a scale to weigh your candy if needed. Do NOT mess with the scale because if you break it, you're in big trouble!
OOC: Remember, no excess chatting in this thread. There are other places in Sugarplum's to chat with your friends!
ALSO, please specify how much of each item you purchase. I can't charge you correctly unless I know.
Nadia stood in line, her arms filled with seven sugar quills, a licorice wand, and a pound of milk chocolate fudge. She was fourth in line as she hummed to herself as she awaoted her turn to pay for her delicious treats!

Angelina was glad it hadn't got TOO busy today, because she couldn't sleep well for some reason and was yawning. So when a customer (a cute little girl awwwww!) showed up with her sweets, she... just couldn't work out... how much it would cost.
"Uuuuh, 1 galleon... 10 knuts... 31 - no, 21 sickles..." She suppressed a yawn because it was so RUDE to yawn at her face, "sorry, uh, where were we? Yeah, umm... 2 galleons, 4 sickles and 10 knuts, please. Sorry, again. I'm just too sleepy today." She smiled in return, because smiles made everything better?

Nadia jumped with glee! She tugged on her mother's arm to get her attention as the woman chuckled. Her mother reached into her pursse as she pulled out a bunch of coins and helped Nadia count out how many she needed. The shy little girl smiled up at Angelina as she carefully hànded the friendly person the money.

That was the only thought that went through his mind as he approached the front counter, beaming despite himself. The basket was full. Not only had he grabbed literally one of everything he didn't know, but he also grabbed some things he was familiar with.
That's how his basket ended up filled with Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, Chocolate Frogs, Licorice Wands, Pumpkin Fizzes, Peppermint Humbugs, Fizzing Whizbees, Pumpkin Pasties, Ice Mice, Sugar Quills, Lemondrops, Jumping Gummy Bears, Invisible Gum, a pound of toffee, a pound of dark chocolate and a pound of chocolate dragon fudge.
Beaming at the lady behind the counter he placed the basket up to the counter. Though, while he was here he could get a few questions answered... so he started out by pointing at the 'every flavour beans' "So are these actually every flavour? What are the worst flavour you can get? Why do the frogs move? And the gummy bears too... do they stop moving after I take a bite? And does the invisible gum come in different flavours? Ooooh and why is this one called chocolate dragon fudge?"
He was not sorry for all the questions. But these were truly important to understanding the new world he lived in.
When Tora approached the counter of Sugarplums it was empty. Not really surprising considering school was still in session. Drew's birthday was coming up and she wanted to send him some of his favorite candies. It was funny that she was planning on sending sweets to her brother when she herself had felt embarrassed when Gram had sent them to her when she was in school. Well, Tora had more sense; she wouldn't wrap them in bright pink.
Setting a handful (5 pieces) of Creature Feature Blowing Gum, 2 sugar quills, and a box of Licorice Wands on the counter, Tora looked around for the shopkeeper.
She started to get a little annoyed. Yes, it was the off-season, but there should still be someone, right? She tapped the counter impatiently before she realized her mistake.
Oh. DING!
Well, that was her bad. She pulled a chocolate frog from the display near the counter and added it to her pile of sweets. An apology of sorts for her stupidity and annoyance towards the unwitting shopkeeper. Also, she wanted the card.
When Roland approached the counter of Sugarplums it was filled with people. Since it was his first time in diagon alley he had no money, he asked the Shopkeeper how much a box of Licorice wands cost. Roland was flabbergasted by the prices. Roland had asked his friend Danny for Sugar Quills for 3 sickles instead of asking for Licorice wands for 5 sickles. Since Roland and Danny are such good friends he bought 2 boxes for 10 sickles, Roland was very thankful.
Now he was ready to pay and enjoy his treats.

After roaming around Sugarplum's sweet shop for a good hour, Emmalyn's head was starting to swim. The sweet sugary air felt as thick as molasses and she wasn't sure if she was starting to feel ill or just on the best sugar high of her life. She knew she needed to get out of the shop as quickly as possible.
Making her way to the counter, Emmalyn gently placed her two chocolate frogs and four licorice wands while ringing the green bell with her other hand. She tapped her foot and wiggled her hands to keep the thoughts of curling up and taking a nap on the floor of the shop out of her mind.

Addison headed for the front counter at Sugarplum's, pushing the stroller which had her nine month old daughter Keighley awake and babbling inside it. Glancing over her shoulder at her husband she smiled. "How's he doing? Happy now that he has his chocolate frog?" she laughed softly. With all the shopping they had done today it was no real surprise that their son, Ryder, was getting fussy and just wanted to go home. She had hoped stopping inside the candy shop and letting the toddler pick out a treat would be helpful so they can head on to the last shop they needed to go to before returning home.
All they had to do was stand in line, pay for the candy and leave. If only the line was moving a tiny bit faster. "You can eat your froggie once we're outside, okay, Ryder?" she smiled warmly reaching out to ruffle the small boys hair. Gosh he looked so much like his daddy.

Connor was lagging slightly behind Addison and Keighley but this was only because little Ryder was taking his time with his steps. Connor didn't mind. In fact, he loved watching his second son take those steps. Not to mention the chocolate frog was distracting. The man laughed. "Yes, he's quite happy.''
He and Ryder finally caught up to join the line. "At least he's a little calmer now.'' Keighley was well behaved which was a good thing. "Do we need to stop by anywhere else before we go home, Addison?'' He reckoned that Ryder needed a nap.
Meeting the other Diagon Alley shopkeepers, and setting up deliveries, had been going well thus far. Lucy had a few more stops to make before the end of day when she spotted Sugarplum’s. It was the perfect spot to check out her pillow mint options. And by pillow mint she meant chocolate. Chocolate made almost any day better and she wanted her guests to feel welcome.
As soon as she entered the shop, her senses danced with excitement. The colors, the glorious smells, it even sounded happy in Sugarplum’s. She was positive she was going to like the person that worked at such a wonderful shop.
She made her way to the counter on the right side and waited patiently for the shopkeeper to assist her.

It was only her second day on the job, but Nailah thought she was getting into the swing of things quite nicely. She'd spent most of her first day re-organizing the displays to her liking, and now she was behind the counter re-dusting and making sure the checkout area was nice and neat. She brushed a duster across the cash register, even though she'd just done that yesterday, and there likely wasn't even a speck left. Maybe she'd follow it up with magic just to make sure.
A moment later, a little bell above the shop door jingled, and Nailah looked up to see a customer. Seeing as the shop wasn't busy at the moment, she emerged from behind the counter, duster still in hand. "Well, hello there!" she said. "Can I help you find something? I've got....candy, candy, and more candy!"

How did she ever get so lucky?!
Lucy smiled brightly at the warm greeting. She could always tell when someone loved their job. "Good day. I'm Lucy. Lucy Gillings. Owner of the Leaky Cauldron. I take it you are the one in charge here?" She glanced around once more at the plentiful assortment of candies, chocolates, and other sugary treats. She imagined the shop was a mad house when the students were invading.
"It smells absolutely glorious in here, which is one of the reasons I stopped by. I'm in need of some chocolates. Dark chocolate truffles, cherry center truffles, and white chocolate almond truffles to be exact." Those would be the perfect trio for her to leave in the guest rooms each evening. "I would love to work out a delivery from your shop to the Leaky once every few weeks. The truffles will be for my guest rooms." She hoped the young lady would be willing to help her. Offering local products to her guests was always top on her priorities. "Oh, I'd also like a small assortment of your other items delivered with the chocolates, packaged so that I could have a small display at the Leaky. I plan on featuring local Diagon Alley businesses, to sort of temp them into checking out what the area has to offer." She paused, hoping she hand't spewed forth too many requests all at once.

Nailah's eyebrows raised upward in a surprised sort of way. Merlin, people around here were really friendly! It was nice to know, what with her being the new girl and all. "I'm so glad you stopped by! I haven't been around here long at all. It's nice to know people," she said. She nodded. "That'd be me," she added, replying to what Lucy had said about her being the one in charge.
She followed Lucy's gaze around the shop. "You know, if I didn't own a candy shop, owning a place that sells butterbeer is almost the next best thing," she commented. Either way, she'd get her full dose of sweets all day long! She smiled when Lucy said how glorious it smelled in the shop. "I'm pretty fond of it myself." She nodded along as Lucy told her all about the chocolates she'd need. "Well, you're in luck, because we've got everything you just listed!" she said. She gestured for Lucy to follow her, and then she lead the co-shopkeeper to a collection of sweets displayed nicely behind a glass case. "We can get that done for you!"
"I think that's an awesome idea," she said, "and I'd love for you to lure some customers my way!"

Lucy laughed as the young lady spoke of butterbeer. She was in complete agreement. The endless fish and chips along with slices of red velvet cake hadn't been the best on her waistline. She didn't want to think about how much she would be eating if she owned the candy store.
"Perfect!" She followed Nailah over to the display. "Oh, those look lovely." She nodded "Yes, they will do nicely. Would you happen to have any packaging so I could place one of each flavor in a box for my overnight guests? Three truffles seems to be just the right amount as a sort of pillow mint." But so much better than a boring little mint.
"As for the assortment for my display, I'll leave that up to you to decide which items you would like featured. Please do make sure your packaging lists your business information. I'd like for them to be able to easily find you."Plus, it would save her from needing to post a sign with individual shop information on her already smaller than she would like display.
She glanced around again, taking in the wide variety and colors. "How much do I owe you for today, and would you be able to deliver by end of day tomorrow?" She had just enough treats to take care of her current overnight guests for a few more nights, but if any new guests came, she'd be out.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Helena carefully made her way over to the counter, her basket laden with an assortment of yummy treats. She began to unload the basket which contained three pounds of hazelnut chocolate, a box of cherry-centred truffles, three pounds of Chocoballs, six Chocolate Frogs and two boxes of Pumpkin Pasties and rang the bell.

As the conversation with Lucy continued, Nailah thought about how many people had told her she was lucky to own and operate a candy shop. Lucy was lucky, too, though. Thoughts of butterbeer, endless hot meals, and even a place to nap if you wanted to. Lucky for her, the conversation drifted back to the displays, and Nailah's thought process drifted back with it.
"Oh, I have loads of packing," Nailah replied. She disappeared behind the counter for a bit, and when she returned, she had a pamphlet with her. "These are the types you can choose from." The pamphlet revealed a selection of different boxes, all of a different size, shape, and pattern. There were bows to go along with each package, too. As she left Lucy with the pamphlet, she went behind the counter again and totaled up today's services. She returned with a receipt, which she handed to Lucy. "Oh, I can definitely get it to you by then!" She jotted down a few notes, just as a new customer appeared.
"Well, hello there," Nailah said, noting the lady behind the counter. She'd been so busy with Lucy's order that she hadn't seen this new customer come though the door. Apparently she didn't need any help, though, because she'd gathered a whole basket full of treats and laid them out on the counter. "That looks like an awesome selection!" She began totaling up the cost then let the customer know what she owed. "Can I do anything else for you today?"

She took a deep breath and glanced around the shop as Nailah retrieved the pamphlet, making note of the fudge. That would be on her next order. A nice selection of fudge. She even considered taking a pound or two back that day, but she was already going to be going into sugar overload sampling what she already got. "Thanks. I'll look this over while you help the lady ready to check out."
The variety of boxes was vast. Most too large for what she had in mind to place on pillows, but on the upper left was just the right one. It was just the size to hold three truffles, one of each flavor, and had a nice maroon matte finish. Simple and subdued. Upon Nailah's return, she smile. "This is the perfect box. The maroon box in the upper left." She pointed as she handed the pamphlet back. "I'll take three dozen to start. Please have your logo on the top. I can package the truffles at the Leaky if you send them over in bulk on our planned schedule." That was the least she could do. Plus, it had to be easier to store the truffles out of the little boxes and simply package them each evening before turn-down.
She looked over the receipt, making sure proper funds had been exchanged, before looking back to Nailah. "It appears that everything is in order. I look forward to our first delivery and it's been a pleasure doing business with you." She held out her hand to shake before turning to leave.

"I'm purchasing some treats for my sister and niece, thanking them for having me over at their place this summer. I think what I've got here will be enough, thanks." Helena replied with a smile.

Nailah spared a quick nod for Lucy as the woman told her she'd look over the pamphlet. Business was picking up now, making Nailah second guess whether or not she'd need a second employee here. Herself and one other, that is. She turned her attention back to the customer who'd just bought something for her sister and niece. "Well, I hope everyone enjoys the treats! You have a good day," she said, and then she left the counter to head back to her first customer.
Nailah summoned an order pad and wrote down the rest of the details of Lucy's order. "This is exciting!" she said, smiling at the thought of her first big order since becoming a shopkeeper here. "I'll make sure everything's really nice for all your customers." She smiled and connected the handshake, glad to have both a new customer and a possible new friend here in Diagon Alley.
