Name:Deesey Role: Receptionist Background: Deesey is the receptionist at the Prophet, since the last one never returned from a vacation at the Bermuda Triangle. With help from an advocate at the House-Elf Relocation office after the passing of her mistress, she has managed to become the first house-elf to ever work for the newspaper. Naturally, she is very excited to be back in the work force. She knows that there will be challenges along the way (such as not being able to read or write), but she is willing to do whatever it takes to make everyone happy.
Name:Maurice Dancewell Role: Copy Editor Background: Maurice started his work as a news reporter, often focusing on art, cryptography, and conspiracy theories. His factual writing has caused him to work closely with many Curse-Breakers and goblins in the past and also wind up in a number of heated debates in the middle of the Leaky Cauldron. Though still producing the occasional article for publishing, he has since danced his way into an editing position at the Prophet and is very prudent about fact checking and properly citing credible sources.
Name:Gloria Leblanc Role: Copy Editor Background: Gloria has been in the publishing business for quite some time, her roots originating at Obscurus Books. At this point in her career, she has published thousands of written works and has even written several herself. An avid reader, workaholic, and self-proclaimed grammar police, she thoroughly enjoys the fast-paced atmosphere at the Prophet. She is quick to make sure the articles written contain no errors and are perfect in every way before hitting the printing press and being read by the populace.
Name:Cameron Grail Role: Lifestyle Reporter Background: Cameron started writing and publishing her work shortly after graduating from Hogwarts after joining the staff at The Quibbler. After working at the tabloid for a number of years, she grew tired of the company's oddities and the joking manner of the content they produced. Wanting to do more serious writing about the wizarding community and really dive into the trends that were catching on fire, she resigned and switched her loyalty over to the Prophet. She hasn't looked back since.
Name:Wallace Fletcher Role: News Reporter Background: Wallace is very much a political writer, his articles for the Prophet typically have honed in on the Ministry and how the decisions made within the underground headquarters are impacting the general wizarding population throughout the United Kingdom. The beautiful thing about his writing is that he doesn't make his own beliefs clear, but rather maintains a neutral position and gets readers to look at both sides of the coin and make well-informed conclusions on their own accord.
Name:Elfrida Plaskitt Role: News Reporter Background: Elfrida is known for her profound writing at the Prophet, which often highlights the injustices taking place in the world and encourages wizardkind to change their ways. Before writing for the newspaper, she was an activist for a number of organisations that focused on obtaining civil rights for the downtrodden. In fact, her involvement in this line of work is what led to her becoming a reporter. A former editor-in-chief hired her on the spot after hearing her powerful voice in a speech she delivered many years ago.
Name:Brutus Trimble Role: News Reporter Background: Brutus has a workload that is almost as heavy as he is. A long-time veteran of the Prophet, he is known to take more writing projects than the normal reporter can handle. Whether it is yet another sugar rush (likely caused by the eating of several doughnuts) kicking in or the fact that he is a naturally gifted and speedy writer, he always has the scoop on the latest occurrences taking place in the wizarding world. Not to mention that he is in the middle of writing another book for his esteemed fantasy series.
Name:Brian MacGuaire Role: Sports Reporter Background: Brain once in a blue moon publishes an article about Quidditch, though his primary focus is on the other major sports and games played throughout the wizarding world in the United Kingdom. Duelling, Gobstones, Shrunken Head Bowling, Winged Horse Racing, and Wizard's Chess are commonly written about in his articles. His goal is to spread the word to readers that there is more to life than just flying around on a broomstick and encourage them to try something different for a change.
Name:Jordan Thomas Role: Sports Reporter Background: Jordan lives and breathes Quidditch. Though not the best at hiding his blatant bias for the Montrose Magpies and occasionally receiving hate mail for not staying neutral, he still nevertheless produces detailed, play-by-play coverage for most of the matches in the British and Irish Leagues. When it is off season, you can bet your Galleons that he is keeping tabs and writing about trainings, draftings, and speaking to players for the Prophet to build up to hype for the next season.
Name:Kazuma Akagi Role: Photographer Background: Kazuma has made for himself quite the reputation through decades of hard work and dedication. In every issue of the Prophet, this Mahoutokoro alum's photography stands out. Having tinkered with several charms on his camera and experimented with potions used for film development to enhance his craft, his photos are always top-quality. Because of this, he is often asked to go the Quidditch League matches as he has a knack for getting the sharpest, clearest shots of the fast-paced gameplay.
Name:Tinley Banks Role: Photographer Background: Tinley has been with the Prophet for a handful of years. Her passion for photography sparked when her parents gifted her a camera on her seventh birthday. Her love of capturing life as it happened has taken her all across the globe. Her deep, raw photos always have a message behind them and they have captivated hundreds of witches and wizards and caused many to question their world. For over a decade, her portfolio has focused on the conflicts of wizardkind and civil rights issues.

General History: Ellura is the child of a squib and a muggle, leaving her a half blood witch but through rather interesting history. Raised in the purely muggle world for the first 5 years of her life it was at the death of Ellura’s father that Penelope debated whether or not to introduce her daughter into the life she herself grew up in…the world that treated her with prejudice because of her status. She settled on gradually exposing her to people from her past. However at the first sign of accidental magic, the choice was made and Penelope and her father, Callem pushed aside the drama for the sake of their daughter and granddaughter. The family resides in Aberystwyth, Wales where Penelope works at the University and National Library.
She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a Ravenclaw. Upon graduation, she attended Wizarding University in Cumbria , majoring in Journalism before adding a Certificate in Creative Writing from the local muggle university to round out her education in both worlds. Upon her completion, the twenty-something decided to travel for a bit to explore some new cities, spending time with her twin brother who was pursuing his own creative dreams. But the time has come to settle for a bit, figuring to hone her skills under a non-freelancing gig.

About Reed: Reed Lawrence is the eldest son of witch Athena Thorndike and wizard Alphonse Castell, and the older brother of Euphemia Castell. He has two older half siblings, Gavin Thorndike (Athena's son) and Zianna Castell (Alphonse's daughter). He gets along with all his siblings fairly well despite the obvious tension between Gavin and Zianna, who are both firstborns. Being somewhat the middle child, Reed would constantly try to do things better than his other siblings in order to catch the attention of his parents. When he was eleven and sent to Beauxbatons to begin his wizarding education, he was a reserved boy who enjoyed his time reading and writing alone. Even as a child, he was very fond of being in the know and keeping himself updated with current events. It wasn't until his fifth year that he began cracking out of his shelf, and he would soon unintentionally collect gossip and "tall tales" about his classmates in the French school. After graduation, he pursued his passion for literature and writing by taking up journalism in the Wizarding University of Stuttgart in Germany, even finishing a master's degree in it. Now a graduate of journalism, he no longer feels the need to study more in his field of expertise. He decided to apply for an open news reporting position in the Daily Prophet in hopes of continuing to do what he loves. Apparently his sister, Euphy, wanted to apply with him too.

Dyes her hair a different color every week. Locks herself up in her room for days when she's writing. Spews expletives in french.
Background: Euphemia, who commonly goes by Euphy, is the youngest child of Alphonse Castell and Athena Thorndike. She has two older half-siblings whose silent war is her favorite brand of amusement, and an older brother whom she adores dearly. Euphy showed signs of magic very early on in her life; making her plush pillows levitate at the tender age of three. So it wasn't a surprise that at eleven she was sent to Beauxbatons only a few years after her brother, Reed. And whereas her brother was rather reserved, Euphy was not. She was free-spirited, flighty and frequently impulsive. She joined all the clubs at school and soon discovered that she was drawn towards writing, particularly the action-packed competitive sports kind. Eventually, she became a mainstay contributing writer for several local tabloids. When she graduated from the academy, Euphy pursued a Communications degree at the Wizarding University of Edinburgh and later ventured on a freelance writing career while also working part-time as a waitress in a cafe in London called Mireille, where most of her writing gets done if she wasn’t locking herself up in her room. When her brother, Reed, eventually got his Masters degree and applied for a position in the Daily Prophet, she jumped on the bandwagon, also submitted her resume and what do you know, she got the job!

History
Text Cut: Hector's history
Hector was born into a large, non-magical family, the fifth of six children. An inquisitive but clumsy and socially awkward child, he often felt he had to compete with his siblings for attention. Luckily, his talent for writing helped him stand out. Hector started writing stories from the time he could hold a crayon. Before he learned to spell, he would tell stories with pictures or ask a relative to write the words down for him.
From an early age, Hector sensed there was something different about him, aside from his talent, but he didn’t know what it was until the day he turned eleven and a representative from Ilvermorny turned up at his home. The Velezes were shocked to learn of Hector’s magical abilities (any accidental magic such as objects being knocked over or broken was dismissed as Hector’s normal clumsiness and/or dramatics), and the news brought mixed reactions from the family. Some were intrigued by his magic; others were weirded out by it, and still others were jealous. Regardless, the family rallied to support Hector and send him to Ilvermorny.
At Ilvermorny, Hector was chosen by Horned serpent and Thunderbird. Of the two, he chose Horned Serpent as his house. He enjoyed school but didn’t make the most conscientious student; he prefered to learn on his own, outside of a classroom setting. He threw himself into extracurriculars that helped him hone his .writing talent, such as the school newspaper and yearbook, and during the summers following his fifth and sixth years, he took a summer internship at a local newspaper. After graduation, he was accepted to the Wizarding University of California, where he majored in journalism.
Hector is sort of a jack of all trades as far as journalism goes. He started out as a one man news crew, working as a freelance writer and photographer to cover his school expenses (though he preferred telling stories with words than pictures). After getting his degree, his family expected him to settle down with a steady job and start a family of his own, but that kind of predictable lifestyle wasn’t right for Hector. To his family’s dismay, he continued freelancing for a couple more years, travelling the world to get inspiration for his stories. Eventually, he landed a job at Enchanté Magazine, a French tabloid. Hector enjoyed the good pay and thrill of covering high-profile subjects - he even won a couple of awards while working there - but he came to question the superficiality and ethics of the tabloid. Torn between his conscience and his desire to hold on to the hard-won recognition he’d earned at Enchanté , he decided to quit his job there and go back to freelancing until one of his articles caught the attention of the Daily Prophet.
