GULPING GARGOYLES!

A bit confused on the plot? Seen some mysterious happenings going on and curious as to what it's all about? What in the world is going on in the Ministry of Magic RPG? Here's where you can catch up on all the happenings around the Ministry of Magic. If you have something to add that relates to employees in general, mysterious happenings around the Ministry, and isn't a personal roleplay, please feel free to post about it in here. Double posting is okay in this space. There definitely is a place to post all about your personal roleplays, though! Those type discussions can go here, in the Wizarding World Chat.

Remember that this thread is OOC knowledge only unless your character heard this information from others or witnessed the actual event, your character doesn't know about it.

What do I do if there's no activity or plotting in my department?
It's possible that there may not be a plot or organized roleplay happening in your department each and every day. What we're hoping is that you'll take the opportunity to create your own roleplays (within reason), whether they be work-related or something personal to your character. Nothing happening on your level? Then roleplay something happening! No drama or nothing to take part in? Create something! There's many different threads in your department and around the Ministry that you're free to explore and create roleplays in! You are also encouraged to contact your department head with ideas and concepts!

Looks like Lord Berty Borr has joined the MoM staff as Junior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic:

In addition, Lord Borr somehow found time in his busy schedule to take on the role as Ministry-approved professor at the school for several years. So we all know that OOC the Ministry of Magic has been closed for some time, but IC it was business as usual aside from that one day of the Borr party. Here's some information for your characters, what they would know (or in some cases maybe they don't, but you can sure as heck have fun finding out).

Oh and *shifty* enjoy those bonuses, guys.

The last few months....

The last few months at the British Ministry of Magic have been rife with changes. The Security checks ordered by Minister Carlton under the advisement of Martel D'Isigny are now complete, and many employees were required to leave, or reshuffled into different positions. The Department of Education and the Department of Ministry Maintenance and Security are now defunct; Maintenance stands as its own office under the jurisdiction of the Minister's Office, and Security has been absorbed by Magical Law Enforcement. The Department of Education has no comparable body, as Martel D'Isigny has said, 'The Board of Governors is sufficient in regards to ensuring the highest standards of Education in this country."

The Department of Environmental Regulation and Protection
A new Department has been established: The Department of Environmental Regulation and Protection. Expected to work closely with the Creatures Department, specialists from all of the globe have been hired to do their part for habitats and environments of the Wizarding World.

The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures
Around the country the Wizarding public have become a large part of the political turmoil currently taking the forefront in Wizarding Britain. The number of protests regarding the unfair treatment of Magical Creatures in order to 'protect' them from Mugglekind have skyrocketed and there have been many cases which have resulted in a Statute breach. The careful handling of these unfortunate events have seen all Creatures Employees gain a 100 Galleon Bonus.

The Department of Magical Games and Sports
While it appears for the time being, Quidditch Pitches do not seem to be failing with the same alarming regularity, mostly due to the reestablishment of wards and protections surrounding the pitches. With preparations for the Quidditch Cup well underway, extra attention is being given to keeping the Pitches and the large numbers of Witches and Wizards expected to attend, hidden from Muggles.

The Department of International Cooperation
On an international level, it appears that France and Canada are both experiencing a similar rash of ward failures and Statute breaches for a large variety of reasons. Former Department Head of Accidents and Catastrophes, Charles D'Isigny, and Department Head of Security and Maintenance and Special Security Liason to Hogwarts Ikenna Gevrik, have been appointed by the Minister to aid and investigate these occurrences and have relocated to these countries in order to ascertain whether or not the occurrences are related, and provide help where needed.

The Department of Magical Transportation
Muggle transportation concerns have been addressed by the Department of Magical Transportation in a large-scale humanitarian effort, which has successfully avoided detection by Mugglekind. As a result of this hard work, the entire Department of Magical Transportation have been furnished with a bonus of 100 Galleons each.

The Department of Mysteries
The Department of Mysteries has been fortunate to gain yet another new Department Head, the Mysterious Ren Sakura who seems to have an agenda of his own. The employees of this department have received a 150 Galleon bonus for all their hard work and devotion to the Ministry. A call for new prophecy submissions is due for release to the Wizarding Public and as always, other Mysteries business remains a mystery.

The Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes
In the wake of Charles D'Isigny leaving to provide aide to foreign ministries, The Department of Accidents and Catastrophes has also seen a new Department Head appointed recently and along with Games and Sports, are also focused on the recent Statute breaches and ward failures, even having to obliviate a few young muggles who discovered Hogsmeade Village and, in turn, Hogwarts School itself. Other Obliviations have been necessary and the Department is stretched rather thinly across the country.

The Department of Magical Law Enforcement
With various beatings of shopkeepers, several having gone missing across the Wizarding World in locations such as Godric's Hollow, Tinworth and Diagon Alley itself, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement is hard at work investigating these incidents. It appears one of the linking factors is that many of the victims have been Muggleborn. The Security checks undertaken by this Department are now complete, but Internal investigations are now expected to be an ongoing focus in the Ministry of Magic.

The Minister's Office
The Minister's Office has undergone some rather dramatic changes these past several months. It appears Minister Carlton and Under-Secretary Kutcher have fallen prey to a mysterious illness. Martel D'Isigny has advised the ministry as a whole that both are resting and are in quarantine in a hidden St. Mungos ward. The illness is not considered suspicious. Stepping up as acting Minister of Magic is one Berty Borr, who has appointed a new team to help lead the British Ministry of Magic. Alexander Greingoth, respected owner of the Leaky Cauldron, is now the Senior Undersecretary, and Nolan Reynolds, former Hogwarts Professor is the newly appointed Junior Undersecretary.

"Note that we have finally the missing shopkeepers and much of the crime against muggleborns over the past several years to the cult and particularly Wrekin, Sakura and Provel are dangerous and will not hesitate to hex to harm."

"Once we secure the Cultists, Greingoth will step up and take charge of the Ministry, and restore order. Be aware that some people we know and trust might try to stop you. Guard your minds. Any questions?"

Not anymore, there was DISORDER outside. And he still couldnt shake that feeling of dread when he first set his eyes on that MLE woman. In a fit he swung his wand across them all, enveloping them in the Imperius Curse "BE QUIET!!" he bellowed. He needed to think. THINK! What should he do if the cops are onto him?

He wanted to run. Just as he and Alex has always done for years. Grab their gear, burn the junk and scram.

"Alright everybody listen up!" he hollered, then pointed at Marcus "You! Get up to my office, there is a locked filing cabinet next to my desk. Bring that down here, open it and burn everything you see inside." Paranoid or not, he doesnt want the ashes an the soot messing up his office. "You" he then pointed to Elina "If he needs help bringing that down go help him." Because the hissing and hip-clutching didnt escape his notice either. "Maggie, make sure they dont miss anything. I want nothing left of them." he commanded eyeing her squarely.

"Catharina" he said turning to the Prophecy specialist "There is a bag stashed behind the door in the Hall, I want you to destroy the orbs inside that." He raised his wand just in case she would resist "Do not question me. Get Katherine and that cripple to help you." he added hastily thumbing at the two Time Specialists. "And if you can still hear screaming from other orbs on other shelves-- collect those and destroy them too. Make sure you do not miss anything." he added glaring.

He turned sharply at that voice that he didnt expect to ever hear in the Ministry "Ennis?" he hissed, shocked at the presence of his fellow Cultists "What are you do-- nevermind that." Ennis wasnt Ennis if he didnt make unexplained appearances "Speak up, what is it?"

What's this? Uncontrollable drooling? Sure, maybe drooling could be considered "acceptable" at the food court because the food is amazing, but... This doesn't really seem like ordinary drooling, now does it?

Sitting down on the table she put her forehead on the table. The vase seemed to be FILLED with drool already. She groaned - but it only made a gurgling sound. "I feel sick" she whined and taking her wand she summoned a white board and a dry erase board.

What's wrong is I CAN'T STOP DROOLING. She pointed to the words and groaned loudly and began to write again. I feel really sick...can you grab me a bucket? A really BIG bucket for all the drool?

She's not the only one. This International Cooperation employee seems to have a salivating problem, too.

She looked down at her parchement, where she'd been writing the quick memo to Althea, and seemed to lose focus on what she was doing. Just staring at the parchment for a good five minutes. Almost as soon as it happened she was back, blinking a little. "Where...what...oh..." She spoke quickly, before nodding down at her parchment, and continuing to write the memo.

Oh. Someone else was here. She stared over at her office door, her eyes seeming to glaze over a little, before she shook her head. She wondered who it was. Hopefully it wouldn't be another employee complaining about the charms not working. "The door is open." She shouted, leaning back against her chair. Her back was aching a little.

And on a COMPLETELY different note, it looks like the new Senior Undersecretary is a party animal. Or just a conga lover.

The redhead threw open the door, smelled the food, and immediately felt sick again. Oh GREAT. She tried to suck it up, though, and tried making it to the counter...but all of the sudden, her stomach gave a great HUGE turn, and she lurched herself in the nearest booth, not even caring who or what was sitting there...but as she clutched her stomach, her face pinched, her eyes became glossed...unfocused, and she seemed to be staring at nothing in particular.

Oops. And she happened to not notice the man across from her..not yet, anyways.

"Erase...my words...I am just going to stop talking now." Yep. Plan. Sounded like a good plan.

Glancing at the hand again she finally spoke a tell tale line. "Hand. Not. Food." It sounded like a question but it wasn't. It was a statement, "Brain food....brain" her hand pointed at Simon's head as she began to moan the word brain over and over again.

Sad news: If you don't already know, Anna Banana has stepped down as Minister of Magic. And that means that Alexander Greingoth is no longer our IC Minister. Which brings me to what I'm posting here: Mr. Greingoth's farewell speech:

It seemed only yesterday he'd taken the position, and now, his term limit had exceeded.

"So it is here that I leave you as Minister of Magic, and happily so. For I leave with thoughts of having had a good run and thoughts of opportunities that lie ahead," he said. "I'm happy to be able to spend additional time with my family and happy to pursue other ambitions while I'm still young." He grinned playfully at the crowd. "I thank you for the opportunities given to me while serving as your Minister of Magic, and I wish you all well. I'm also proud to announce that my oldest daughter, Mrs. Anna Greingoth Newell, will be joining you in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. I'm excited for her to experience what we all have."

"So with that, it is my honor to present to you Mr. Albert Kettleburn, your new Minister of Magic!" he said, and then he began clapping. He gestured toward Kettleburn. "Welcome, Minister Kettleburn!"

We'll miss both you and Alexander, Anna!
