The south end of the street begins at the playground and stretches on to reveal Gringotts Wizarding Bank and a variety of shops and businesses that will suit the needs of just about any witch or wizard. A mixture of smells, from the coffee at Espresso Patronum to the potions at Madam Primpernelle's, fill the air. Both the young and the young at heart can stock up on items ranging from a new wand to an assortment of magical items that have seen better days. There's even a joke shop for those of you out for a good laugh. I'd think wisely about my choices or words and actions, though! Its cobblestones may be chipped or dusty from excessive wear over the years of being trampled on by many thousands of feet. Large glass windows grab your attention with various signs and merchandise, in attempts to lure you into those shops and spend more money you may or may not have.
Outside several shops are park benches, perfect for a quick chat or rest of your feet. But don't sit too long - these spots are high in demand and you may run the risk of being sat on or someone tripping over your feet. Not to mention that the rubbish bin next to the bench near Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes wreaks of various stenches of items that have been tossed away. Shame because if they hadn't absorbed the smells, one man's junk might become another man's treasure.

Nora hadn't said much of anything since arriving in Diagon Alley. She didn't know what she expected to see and do here, but whatever it was, she wasn't ready for it. None of these people or places looked anything like what she was used to. Apparently, they were ALL witches and wizards...well, most of them. That was still the weirdest thing Nora had ever tried to wrap her head around.
She was walking toward a bank, which apparently held some kind of magical money? She didn't want magical money. She wanted to go home and go back to the life she'd been quietly living for the last eleven years. But noooooooo. That stupid owl had come along and ruined everything. At least there was a playground. That was something she was used to, even if she had outgrown most of the equipment.
She sighed and kind of paused in her walk. Deep down inside, she knew she was being stubborn. This whole magical world didn't seem so bad. It was just...weird. She had literally grown up believing everything she was about to get herself into only existed only in fairy tales. She still had no idea how her parents had been talked into this. It would all work out, right? She'd learn magic and meet friends and not miss her old life much at all...right?

Nora had literally just convinced herself it was time to head into the bank, when she felt a small force knock into her. Had she been expecting it, it might not have been so bad. Seeing as it had taken her by surprise, though, she almost fell face first to the ground. Now that would have been the perfect entrance to this brand new magical world. She already felt like the odd one out. Any extra embarrassment would probably just do her in.
When she was steady on her feet again, she slowly turned around to come face to face with a girl her age. "Oh, yeah, umm, sorry about that," she said, feeling kind of awkward about the whole thing. She cleared her throat in a small attempt to ease the awkwardness. She couldn't help but notice the list the girl had in her hand. "Is that a list for Hogwarts?" she asked. Nora had her own list stuffed in her pocket, but she hadn't attempted to pull it out and actually buy anything yet. Cauldrons? Robes? Were any of those things actually real?

"So, um, question for you. Were you...expecting to go to school at Hogwarts?" she asked. Nora didn't quite know what to make of this girl. Her excitement didn't quite match Nora's nervousness, and it left her speechless for a few seconds longer. Oh, okay, so...Hogwarts was the place to go for London kids. That was super weird considering Nora had lived in the area her entire life and never known this. She was suddenly thinking back to all the random kids she had passed on the streets of the muggle world. She bet lots of them had been magical children, and she just never realized it.
Then the girl was rattling off a whole bunch of other places Nora had never even heard of. "Oh, okay, wow, that's a lot to take in," she remarked with a laugh. "I think I have a lot of catching up to do." She could just see it now. The entire school would be looking at her like she was some uninformed weirdo. "Wait, so...this whole magical world expands to other places, too? So magical people are...everywhere?" It was mind blowing to Nora. How did this even happen to her? Her, out of all people, had randomly been a witch.
Despite the fact that Nora still felt all alone in this new world, she made a small connection when this girl mentioned her siblings were twins. "I have sisters who are twins, too, but they're only five. Then there's Charlie, who's fifteen," she added. Charlie was nowhere near magical, and she just bet he was at home thinking of all the many insults he'd throw at her once she'd been at her new school for a while. "So, umm, I'm Nora," she finally said.

Nora smiled and shrugged. "It's okay," she replied. Her parents had already overwhelmed her anyway. They weren't magical, but they'd pulled out every book they could possibly find and read every detail they possibly could. They'd randomly spewed out information that mostly went in one of Nora's ears and out the other. She ignored them, because she hated the fact that she was a witch, but now she was wishing she'd at least remembered some of it.
"Magical communities," she repeated. "I just want to go back home and live in the muggle world." Yes, she was about to do that today after shopping for her school supplies, but soon enough she'd be shipped off to this strange new school to learn all these strange new things. She shrugged again. "I don't know for sure, but the people who came and talked to my parents about me being a witch said that I probably have ancestors from way back when who were witches and wizards. It just decided to randomly show up again when I was born." Lucky her. [/sarcasm]
Her eyebrows raised upward then wrinkled in confusion. "That's a lot of kids," she said, not able to hold her tongue. That was just too many people to have sibling arguments with! "Well, Charlie's a muggle, and Beatrix and Adelaide, well...I guess we'll know for sure in seven years." She hadn't decided if it'd be a good thing or a bad thing for the twins to be magical, but if they were, at least Nora wouldn't be all alone anymore. She changed her expression to a smile. Nancy. This girl was technically her first magical friend.

Not a TON, but it wasn't unheard of! Nora's facial expression changed from despair to hope to excitement. "Oh, thank Merlin!" she exclaimed. Wait a second...was that a wizarding phrase that had just come out her mouth? Oh, please tell me it's not rubbing off on me!"So that's the plan! I'll make do with these next seven years, and then I'll just edge my way back into the normal world!" Things were looking better already!
Nora wasn't exactly sure she and Nancy shared the same opinions on siblings. She couldn't read what was going through the other girl's mind, but Nancy didn't exactly seem upset about all those brothers and sisters. Then again, she only had one more sibling than Nora did... "I wish I had older siblings at Hogwarts," she replied. Then she wouldn't feel so alone. She wasn't even sure she wanted to be friends with witches and wizards, but they'd be all she had soon.
"Yes, my mom of all people. She's apparently become some sort of expert on the magical world ever since she learned I was a part of it," Nora explained. "She's read some books and has been spewing out random facts for the last few months. I know what the four houses are, and I know the list of subjects I'll be taking. The other stuff just went in one ear and out the other." Remembering that she'd once wished she had actually paid more attention to all those random facts, she added, "Is there something else I should know?"

Heath made his way down the street, carrying a keyboard under one arm. The blasted thing was supposed to emulate the sounds of various instruments with just the tap of a wand, but it had been making animal sounds for the past hour. Ugh, he didn’t have time for this! He had a class this afternoon, and how was he supposed to give voice lessons with a zoo for accompaniment?!
He’d tried fixing the keyboard himself, but nothing worked. So he was taking it to Wiseacre’s during his lunch break… all the way in the North Side of the Alley. Galloping Gungans, this thing was heavier than he thought! Feeling a tightness in his arm, he set the bulky keyboard down to rest for a minute. That thing didn’t bump anyone, did it? Just in case, he mumbled, “Sorry.”

Joseph was on his way home from a successful messy day at work, and walked down the street on autopilot as he cleaned his hands on a handkerchief he'd charmed to work on just about any mess.
The charm must have worn off, though, because it wasn't working and his hands were still a bit...glittery. He was so focused on trying to remove the glitter he didn't get out of the way and-

Heath hoped against hope that that stupid keyboard hadn’t hit anyone when he set it down, but it was not to be. Before he could process what was happening, he was face to face with another man who looked to be about his own age. Why did he keep wiping his hands on that cloth? Was he alright? He blinked, slightly taken aback by the question. Funny, he was about to ask the same thing. “Yeah,” he replied, shaking his long dark hair out of his eyes. “I’m fine, but this isn’t!”
He jerked his head toward the keyboard. “It’s been making animal sounds for the past hour, and I need it for my next class! I’m a part-time vocal coach at Atticus’s Attic.” To illustrate his point, he pressed one of the black keys, and the keyboard let out a loud MOOOOOOOOO!
Heath’s face brightened at the offer for help. “Thanks!” he replied. “I’m trying to get it to Wiseacre’s. Hopefully someone there will know what’s wrong with it!” Realizing he hadn’t yet introduced himself, he smiled sheepishly. “I’m Heath, by the way.”

Heath hoped against hope that that stupid keyboard hadn’t hit anyone when he set it down, but it was not to be. Joseph gave one last half-hearted attempt at cleaning his hands, then pocketed his cloth. He'd have to redo the charm later, after he'd figured out how to remove the glitter. At the very least, he wasn't worried about leaving glittery handprints everywhere he went. Not if it was that difficult to remove.
Trying to hide a chuckle, Joseph put his hands on his hips and nodded faux-seriously at the keyboard. "Yes, unless you're teaching Old MacDonald Had a Farm, I can see how that would be problematic," he said, trying his best not to sound like he was making a joke.
"I'm Joseph!" he supplied, offering a glitter-covered hand for shaking. "Let's get this to Wiseacre's, then!"

He maneuvered his end of the keyboard so that Heath was on the side nearest Wiseacre's. "Lead the way!"

Carrying his end of the keyboard, Joseph followed Heath. "Hey- that's a good idea!" he noted. Trick keyboards... he wondered what variations they could have. He would have to suggest it to his boss. Even if it wasn't an idea that would work out, if he suggested something, maybe he'd be asked for other ideas... and he certainly had plenty of ideas, from ecosystem-in-a-jar to a rubbish bin that actively tried to catch trash (he knew lots of people didn't have great aim when discarding something).
He fell into silence along the way to Wiseacres, wondering what other musical jokes he could come up with.
Even though her tattoo shop and makeup studio was nearby the raven haired beauty didn't venture into the alley much. Having just snagged a bag of sweets she shoved her hand inside and popped some into her mouth as she walked at a leisurely pace and let her eyes wander. It wasn't often that she got to eat without a small human or one of her many animals (or her Viking king husband) trying to steal it. The thought made a small smile cross her lips as she came to a stop outside of a shoppe and began people watching.
The alley wasn't her kind of place, really, but people watching was one of her favorite pastimes. There was nothing much that was more fascinating that PEOPLE. Their quirks, what made them tick, their tells. It was utterly AMAZING. The tattooed beauty queen leaned against a wall and continued munching on her sweeties and watching the passersby... maybe someone would come along yo amuse her further, but for now she was content.

Her smile only grew as she took the bag from Trin and stuck her nose off in it. Inhaling deeply her eyes slipped closed in sheer ecstasy. " You're aces, Trin. I've got a jam packed day. I just had to slip out and stretch my legs a bit." Owning multiple businesses tended to be a bit wearing. "I just finished a ribcage tattoo that took 3 hours sitting." It had been fun times, but it tended to cause her some aches and pains. "If you're not busy you should come for the Haute Noir photoshoot in a bit. It's going to be rad." Their uber talented brother was, of course, shooting the session.
