It's great to log in and find you have a PM. I love helping members out and I encourage you all to PM me with any questions you might have.
However, it is not so great to spend 30 minutes (or even 3 days) trying to help someone only to find out that they are also getting help from 5 other mods. This is beyond annoying; it is rude.
First of all, if you have a question, PM
one mod or admin about it. If you want a quick answer, do
not, I repeat, do
NOT PM every mod on the online list and certainly NEVER EVER EVER PM every mod on the forum leaders list. This is beyond rude. There is no way for us to know who else you PMed or whether they are already helping you. It is a waste of our time for all the mods be helping one member on the same EXACT problem. At the VERY least, you should PM us back to say 'nevermind, I've got someone helping me now'.
If it is an emergency and you want the first mod or admin on to address your issue, post in the
The Prefect's Office. This is a forum specifically for asking questions and getting help. There are several threads in there to choose from. General questions can be posted in the
Questions Thread. For problems logging in or out, you can check out and post in
the appropriate thread for that.
I've gotten at least 5 different PMs from members this week concerning problems that they had already PMed other mods about. I spent several hours trying to deal with a problem for one particular member, only to find out that they were working with another mod on the same problem at the same time!! This member never bothered to mention that someone else was helping them. Neither did they tell the other mod(s) that I was helping them. They just let us both help them at the same time, effectively wasting all of our time.
PM
ONE mod if you have a problem. If they don't respond, you solve the problem, or find someone else to help you, please have the decency to PM that mod to let them know that you don't need help anymore.
Thank you.
