SS Not Working for Some Members (UPDATE: FIXED)
 

Due to an unknown glitch in the server transfer some members may not be able to access the site. We are aware of the problem and are working to fix it. You don't need to contact any members of staff and I will post again when we know more or the server transfer is complete.

UPDATE: We have isolated the problem and taken steps to fix it. Everyone should be able to access the site now. Thank you, once again, for your patience.

i just wanted to inform you that i am only unable to access ss on internet explorer on my own computer but i am using my grans just now

I couldn't get on with Internet explorer either i could get on with america online

The way this is done amuses me "Some SS members can't get onto SS . . . So they can't actualy SEE this to know it's being fixed but it is! :D" hehe

it happened to me!
but then i left for an hour then came back so now its all good!

I've always gone in through my history. And I haven't had any problems with IE either. But like Jess, I've had some panicked IMs.

So I'm crossing my fingers with the rest of you.

A lot of people can't get on but, their friends can (as evidenced by the PMs staff have been getting about people not being able to log on- we wouldn't be getting PMs if SOMEONE couldn't log in to tell us about it). So, I posted the article so that those who get asked about it can let their friends know what's happening.
Yes, I believe the issue has something to do with the DNS change. We can't figure out why some people are in limbo because either your ISP is still pointed at the old server or it's pointed at the new but, they are. ISPs update the DNS registry at different times (some several times a day, some every 24 hours, some every 72 hours) so, different people will be accessing the site from the old versus new server (all posts and whatnot are stored on the new server so, while this can impact performance if you're accessing via the old IP, nothing gets lost and you're the looking at the same SS as everyone else). Usually the DNS changes are done within 24 hours but, it doesn't surprise me that we've encountered some weird glitch with this after the problems we've had with the transfer. :lol: Hopefully the problem will be resolved within the next 24 hours since it's been nearly 72 hours since we submitted the DNS change. So, tell your friends to keep checking back every hour or so and maybe restart their modems/routers. Sometimes just reconnecting to the net will help.

i couldnt about an hr ago but its okay now :D thank you for working so hard guys :)

i restarted my modem as was recommended, and it worked!

I couldn't get on from last night until now - weird! Well, I am glad everything seems to be working now.

I had issues earlier, but SS works on Firefox for me.

The Site Wasn't Working for Me Earlier But Now It Is! YAY! I was starting To Get Worried!

Yaaaay it's back. ^_^

It wasn't working for a while for me last night or earlier today...and I totally thought it was my firewall or something with Internet Explorer...ugh. >_< At least now it works on Firefox.

And thanks for the update on LJ cuz it was reassuring to I know I wasn't the only one in the dark. :lol: That just proves what an addiction I have here. :whistle:
