Congratulations to all our newly sorted students. We had a fantastic turn out this term with 460 members sorted. The Hogwarts Express has arrived safely in Hogsmeade and students and staff are enjoying the Opening Feast. It's a full moon on September 1st, 2069; we'll have to see what's in store for the students...

Please remember that you need to be sorted in order to play in the school (the next sorting will take place in December). However, anyone is welcome to browse through the RPG threads and read all the action.

UPDATE: Newly sorted students are reminded to read the Hogwarts Rules & FAQ (there was a link in your sorting PM, there is a link in the top menu under 'School', and via the 'Rules & FAQ' link located on the top of every forum page). There is a lot of important information in there, including the answer to "Why can't I see the school?". Returning students are highly encouraged to reread the Rules & FAQ as there have been some major changes this term, though you should re-familiarize yourself with the rules each term as you are responsible for knowing any changes that might have occurred.

I'm just posting this again because I've received half a dozen inquiries from new students asking why they can't see the school/common room/etc. In the sorting PM you received there should have been a link to the Hogwarts School FAQ that you should have read through and become familiar with. The answer to that question, along with some other very important information that you need to know. Just like with our site, we would like you to become familiar with our special rules and tips. Whenever you have a question, please check the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) before PMing a staff member. We can get a bit testy when you ask a Frequently Asked Question that has already been answered- it happens frequently (hence the name, Frequently Asked Question, and the FAQ that we took the time to write for you).

We try to balance it as best we can, without being forceful. At points, the Huffs were in the lead! Overall, the houses are fairly even. And, you can never predict which members will become active and which will never roleplay at all.

Another note on that point: Just because the number of members sorted into the houses are more or less doesn't mean those houses necessarily have more or less total students in them overall. Over time members are promoted or pruned and that changes the numbers. Also, there's no way for us to tell active RPG members from those who don't play in a house and were sorted so the numbers have no bearing on the actual number of people playing in the RP. I was just too lazy to delete all the numbers when posting the news article this time because there were over 400!!
